  • What resolution should my Android splash screens be?

    - by Dan Fabulich
    I'm creating a splash screen that will display while my Android application loads. I'd like to create it at the correct size so Android won't auto-scale it up or down to fit the screen. But there are at least three important screen sizes I care about: 320x480, 480x854 (Droid), and 480x800 (Nexus One). I've read the documentation on supporting multiple screen sizes, but I still don't see how I'm supposed to configure different splash screens for Droid/Nexus one (they're both "hdpi" resources as far as Android is concerned), and I don't know exactly how large my splash screen should be in any case. (How tall is the OS title bar/menu in Droid? N1?) What size should I make these images, and how do I tell Android to use the correct size on a given screen?

  • OutOfMemoryException - out of ideas II

    - by Captain Comic
    Hello, This question is related to my previous question. The storyline: I have an application which consumes a lot of memory if you look at task manager VMSize. I am trying to find out what consumes this amount of memory. You see in the picture below that VM size is 2,46 GB Ok now I am looking at .net performance counters Committed and reserved bytes add up to only 1,2 GB Now lets look at windb sos debugging. Let's run eeheap -gc command The heap size used by GC is only 340 MB. Where is the rest of used memory? I need to discover why WM size in TaskManager is 2.4 GB

  • How to tell .htaccess to ignore a subdirectory (or, how to run WordPress and ExpressionEngine simult

    - by Mike Crittenden
    I have an ExpressionEngine site at http://example.com and a WordPress blog at http://example.com/blog ...the problem is, any WP pages that don't map directly to an index.php end up being handled by ExpressionEngine, which results in a 404. For example, http://example.com/blog and http://example.com/blog/wp-admin both work fine as they both directly use an index.php in those folders, but http://example.com/blog/category/tag/something gets handled by ExpressionEngine. So how can I modify the ExpressionEngine .htaccess file to tell it to ignore anything in the /blog directory? Here's what's currently in the ExpressionEngine .htaccess file: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On ##### Remove index.php ###################################### RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L] ##### Add WWW ############################################### RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^getregionalcash.com [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.getregionalcash.com/$1 [R=301,NC] ##### Increase File Limit Size ############################## #set max upload file size php_value upload_max_filesize 20M #set max post size php_value post_max_size 20M #set max time script can take php_value max_execution_time 6000000 #set max time for input to be recieved php_value max_input_time 6000000 #increase php memory limit php_value memory_limit 64M Any ideas?

  • Using PDF in iPad

    - by RVN
    Has Anyone tried using PDF in iPad Application, using CGPDf functions. I have used this in iPhone and it works perfectly , but when i use the same code in iPad , the Page are Shrunk in size, after a try outs i set the Scale as follows CGContextScaleCTM(context,1.85, -1.80); This time the it fits the screen perfectly , but that was just a trial and error , why does it not fit the screen as in iPhone, i have set the view size correctly too. Anyone having a clue about it please let me know. and also this is my drawRect method where i am drawing the PDF page void drawRect:(CGRect)rect{ UIGraphicsBeginPDFPage(); CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGPDFPageRef page = CGPDFDocumentGetPage(pdf, pageNumber); CGContextSaveGState(context); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 1.0, self.frame.size.height); CGContextScaleCTM(context,1.0, -1.0); CGContextDrawPDFPage(context, page); CGContextRestoreGState(context); } Thanks

  • How to read STDIN into string variable until EOF in C?

    - by NovumCoder
    Hi, im getting "Bus Error" trying to read stdin into a char* variable. I just want to read whole stuff coming over stdin and put it first into a variable, then continue working on the variable. My Code is as follows: char* content; char* c; while( scanf( "%c", c)) { strcat( content, c); } fprintf( stdout, "Size: %d", strlen( content)); But somehow i always get "Bus error" returned by calling "cat test.txt | myapp", where "myapp" is the compiled code above. My question is how do i read stdin until EOF into a variable? As you see in the code, i just want to print the size of input coming over stdin, in this case it should be equal to the size of the file "test.txt". I thought just using scanf would be enough, maybe buffered way to read stdin?

  • Wider than expected margins with CGContextDrawPDFPage

    - by skantner
    I'm rendering PDF pages on iPhone using the code below. It works, but the margins seem much wider than when I view the same PDF using a Acrobat Reader or the Mac's Preview, and that consequently scales the content down much smaller than it otherwise would be. Is my code actually causing this behavior? CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(context, backgroundColor.CGColor); CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(context,backgroundColor.CGColor); CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 2.0); CGContextAddRect(context, CGRectMake(0.0,0.0, self.bounds.size.width, self.bounds.size.height)); CGContextDrawPath(context, kCGPathFillStroke); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 0.0, self.bounds.size.height); CGContextScaleCTM(context, 1.0, -1.0); CGPDFPageRef page = CGPDFDocumentGetPage(myPDF, (size_t) pageNum); CGContextSaveGState(context); CGAffineTransform pdfTransform = CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform(page, kCGPDFMediaBox, self.bounds, 0, true); CGContextConcatCTM(context, pdfTransform); CGContextDrawPDFPage(context, page); CGContextRestoreGState(context);

  • [PyGTK] How to Create a Multiline Button

    - by EShull
    I'm trying to create a multiline button with PyGTK. I have a label added to my subclass of gtk.Button, but I'm having trouble sizing the label to the button. If the label makes it's own size, there is no text wrapping even with label.set_line_wrap(True) because the label simply resizes beyond the bounds of the button. I would set the size of the label to that of the button, but unless I explicitly set the size of the button using set_size_request, I haven't been able to find out how big the button is (it's packed in a table). Any suggestions?

  • Add calendar datepicker with Jquery on dynamic table.

    - by Cesar Lopez
    I am trying to add a Jquery calendar picker to a text box at the time of creation, but I cant find how. When I press a button, it will create a table, the element I want to attach the Jquery calendar picker is: var txtDate = createTextInput(i, "txtDate", 8, 10); txtDate.className = "datepicker"; this.newcells[i].appendChild(txtDate); I tried adding at the end : txtDate.datepicker(); But does not work. Can anybody help? Thanks. Note: CreateTextInput is: function createTextInput(i, strName, size, maxLength) { var input = document.createElement('<input>'); input.type = "text"; input.name = strName; input.id = strName + i; input.size = size; input.maxLength = maxLength; return input; }

  • Code review - PHP syntax error unexpected $end

    - by dtufano
    Hey guys! I keep getting a syntax error (unexpected $end), and I've isolated it to this chunk of code. I can't for the life of me see any closure issues. • Cocos2D SpriteSheet animation problem, my number of frames is much larger.

    - by vaibhav-tekam
    Hello, I am trying to use SpriteSheet to run an animation. My frames are of 320x480 in size each, So I am able to put max 6 frames on the texture image. But my animation consists of frame number ranging from 50 to 200 sometimes, and all are of size 320x480. But this much number of frames cannot be added on the Texture image as the size is restricted to 1024x1024. Is there any other approach I can try out. Can I play one animation after the other.And won't it be hampering the performance. Please, I need suggestions. Best, Vaibhav Tekam.

  • iPhone image distortion

    - by Corey Floyd
    Are there any reasons why the simulator will display UIImageViews properly, but incorrectly on the iPhone? My Process: An image in a PNG file Start a UIGraphicsBeginImageContext() Draw the PNG in a CGrect Draw text in the CGRect Create an UIImage from the context Set the image of a UIImaveView to the UIImage Set the frame of the UIImageView to the size of the PNG Add as a subview Outcome: The image does not display correctly. The rightmost 1-3 pixels of the image is just a vertical white line. This occurs only on the device and not on the simulator. I can fix the problem, but only by increasing the size of the UIImageView. If I increase the size.height of the UIImageView by 1 pixel, it displays the UIImage correctly. Of course, these leaves the iPhone to scale my image before drawing it on screen which is not desirable. Any ideas why this occurs or any fixes for it? (I will post my code if needed)

  • Emma - Block Coverage vs Line Coverage

    - by MasterGaurav
    I have a strange scenario... while doing a EMMA coverage for UT, I get the total block coverage size more than line coverage size. For block coverage, the total size is some 50,000 while the line coverage is out of 18,000. I get (block-coverage-value) / 50,000 and (line-coverage-value) / 18,000 in the report. Is it possible? How can the number of blocks be more than the number of lines in code? btw, you can assume that I know what Block Coverage is: http://emma.sourceforge.net/faq.html#q.blockcoverage

  • iPhone - Using javascritp to increase font of web view

    - by satyam
    i've a webview in my app. It has + and - buttons to increase and decrease the font. When I start the view, the text occupies whole 320 pixels width. I'm following the way mentioned in "http://stackoverflow.com/questions/589177/how-to-increase-font-size-in-uiwebview" I'm seeing the increase and decrease of font. But once the font size increases, text is not occupying full view. It won't occupy whole 320 pixels width. As and when text size increases, the width of final text in web view decreases slowly. Why? How to avoid it?

  • Modify cmd.exe properties using the command prompt

    - by CodexArcanum
    Isn't that nicely recursive? I've got a portable command prompt on my external drive, and it has a nice .bat file to configure some initial settings, but I'd like more! Here's what I know how to set from .bat: Colors = (color XY) where x and y are hex digits for the predefined colors Prompt = (prompt $p$g) sets the prompt to "C:\etc\etc " the default prompt Title = (title "text") sets the window title to "text" Screen Size = (mode con: cols=XX lines=YY) sets the columns and lines size of the window Path = (SET PATH=%~d0\bin;%PATH%) sets up local path to my tools and appends the computer's path So that's all great. But there are a few settings I can't seem to set from the bat. Like, how would I set these up wihtout using the Properties dialogue: Buffer = not screen size, but the buffer Options like quick edit mode and autocomplete Popup colors Font. And can you use a font on the portable drive, or must it be installed to work? Command history options

  • Getting the count of rows in a Java resultset

    - by Mr Morgan
    Hello Does anyone know a better way of getting the number of rows in a Java resultset returned from a MySQL database? I'm currently using this: public static int getResultSetRowCount(ResultSet resultSet) { int size = 0; try { resultSet.last(); size = resultSet.getRow(); resultSet.beforeFirst(); } catch(Exception ex) { return 0; } return size; } But am open to alternatives. The resultset returned is not going to be the total number of rows read from the database so I don;t think I can use SQL COUNT. Thanks Mr Morgan.

  • Optimizing a 3D World Javascript Animation

    - by johnny
    Hi! I've recently come up with the idea to create a tag cloud like animation shaped like the earth. I've extracted the coastline coordinates from ngdc.noaa.gov and wrote a little script that displayed it in my browser. Now as you can imagine, the whole coastline consists of about 48919 points, which my script would individually render (each coordinate being represented by one span). Obviously no browser is capable of rendering this fluently - but it would be nice if I could render as much as let's say 200 spans (twice as much as now) on my old p4 2.8 Ghz (as a representative benchmark). Are there any javascript optimizations I could use in order to speed up the display of those spans? One 'coordinate': <div id="world_pixels"> <span id="wp_0" style="position:fixed; top:0px; left:0px; z-index:1; font-size:20px; cursor:pointer;cursor:hand;" onmouseover="magnify_world_pixel('wp_0');" onmouseout="shrink_world_pixel('wp_0');" onClick="set_askcue_bar('', 'new york')">new york</span> </div> The script: $(document).ready(function(){ world_pixels = $("#world_pixels span"); world_pixels.spin(); setInterval("world_pixels.spin()",1500); }); z = new Array(); $.fn.spin = function () { for(i=0; i<this.length; i++) { /*actual screen coordinates: x/y/z --> left/font-size/top 300/13/0 300/6/300 | / |/ 0/13/300 ----|---- 600/13/300 /| / | 300/20/300 300/13/600 */ /*scale font size*/ var resize_x = 1; /*scale width*/ var resize_y = 2.5; /*scale height*/ var resize_z = 2.5; var from_left = 300; var from_top = 20; /*actual math coordinates: 1 -1 | / |/ 1 ----|---- -1 /| / | 1 -1 */ //var get_element = document.getElementById(); //var font_size = parseInt(this.style.fontSize); var font_size = parseInt($(this[i]).css("font-size")); var left = parseInt($(this[i]).css("left")); if (coast_line_array[i][1]) { } else { var top = parseInt($(this[i]).css("top")); z[i] = from_top + (top - (300 * resize_z)) / (300 * resize_z); //global beacause it's used in other functions later on var top_new = from_top + Math.round(Math.cos(coast_line_array[i][2]/90*Math.PI) * (300 * resize_z) + (300 * resize_z)); $(this[i]).css("top", top_new); coast_line_array[i][3] = 1; } var x = resize_x * (font_size - 13) / 7; var y = from_left + (left- (300 * resize_y)) / (300 * resize_y); if (y >= 0) { this[i].phi = Math.acos(x/(Math.sqrt(x^2 + y^2))); } else { this[i].phi = 2*Math.PI - Math.acos(x/(Math.sqrt(x^2 + y^2))); i } this[i].theta = Math.acos(z[i]/Math.sqrt(x^2 + y^2 + z[i]^2)); var font_size_new = resize_x * Math.round(Math.sin(coast_line_array[i][4]/90*Math.PI) * Math.cos(coast_line_array[i][0]/180*Math.PI) * 7 + 13); var left_new = from_left + Math.round(Math.sin(coast_line_array[i][5]/90*Math.PI) * Math.sin(coast_line_array[i][0]/180*Math.PI) * (300 * resize_y) + (300 * resize_y)); //coast_line_array[i][6] = coast_line_array[i][7]+1; if ((coast_line_array[i][0] + 1) > 180) { coast_line_array[i][0] = -180; } else { coast_line_array[i][0] = coast_line_array[i][0] + 0.25; } $(this[i]).css("font-size", font_size_new); $(this[i]).css("left", left_new); } } resize_x = 1; function magnify_world_pixel(element) { $("#"+element).animate({ fontSize: resize_x*30+"px" }, { duration: 1000 }); } function shrink_world_pixel(element) { $("#"+element).animate({ fontSize: resize_x*6+"px" }, { duration: 1000 }); } I'd appreciate any suggestions to optimize my script, maybe there is even a totally different approach on how to go about this.
