  Hi, I was thinking about virtualisation and how to explain it to a non-technical person and one of the things that I was wondering was how to explain the way that a VM is isolated and seperate from the phyiscal machine (so I can have a virus on a VM but this would never effect my physical host, right?). How does this technology work exactly? As I am a programmer, when I think of isolating processes, I think of using appdomains (I work with C# primarily). Thanks

  I am somewhat confused what the differences between a softlink, and a hardlink are (on unix). It seems like a softlink is the same as a shortcut in windows or an alias on Mac OS X. (Can someone confirm this?) Softlinks can link to both directories and files. I am uncertain of what a hardlink does or if it is useful.. Is it better to use one instead of the other? Thanks.

  Hi. I was able to get Mac OS X 10.6.2 to work on my 64-bit Acer on VirtualBox multiple times, but I would like to update to 10.6.6. Every time I do, however, I continue to get this annoying error, saying that the kernal and OS version mismatch, and the OS Version is no longer set.   Hi all, My touchpad on my laptop appears to be no longer functioning. I typically use an external keyboard and mouse so I didn't notice the problem until I tried to use the touchpad. Even after toggling the on/off switch several times, the touchpad still doesn't work. In the logs, I see something about cannot read byte from synaptics device.   Hi, I want to setup a single wordpress install to allow users to visit using 2 domains: For example: foo.com bar.foo.com I can do this for the most part, but whatever domain is configured in the wp-admin screen, it will redirect to that whenever any of the links are clicked. For example, if I set it up to foo.com and I come in using bar.foo.com and click an article link, it takes me to foo.com and the article link. I want the user to stay on the domain they came in. thanks Joel

  I'm thinking about encrypting my whole harddrive for example using TrueCrypt, which I've used for encrypting file containers for a while. It is possible to encrypt the whole harddisk through the program and then add a password secured bootloader before the actual bootloader. Is it possible to do this on a dualboot system with Windows 7 and Fedora 15 currently using Grub as the main bootloader? If so, is it possible to reinstall a system later or will that ruin the whole setup? Thanks
