• How we should load the MFMailViewController in cocos2d ?

  I am writing an app in using cocos2d. This method I have written for the selector goToFirstScreen: . The view is in landscape mode. I need to send an email. So, I need to launch the MFMailComposeViewController. I need it in portrait mode. But, the control is not entering in to viewDidLoad of the mailMe class. The problem is in goToScreen: method. • How can I pass extra parameters to the routeMatch object?

  I'm trying to unit test a controller, but can't figure out how to pass some extra parameters to the routeMatch object.   I've been wondering why when I set the settings.py of my django project 'arvindemo' debug = Flase and deploy it on Apache with mod_wsgi, I got the 500 Internal Server Error. • DTGridView losting content while scrolling

  I am using DTGridView from the DTKit by Daniel Tull. I implemented it in a very simple ViewController and the test I am doing is to place a button in the last row of the grid, which should add another row to the grid (and therefor moving the button to a row beneath it). The problem is, when I click the button a couple of times and then start scrolling, the grid seems to lose its content. As I am not completly sure this is a bug in the grid, but more in my code, I hope you guys can help me out and track down the bug. The grid is filled with as many rows as my int 'rows' ( +1 ) has. The last row does NOT contain 3 columns, but just one. That cell contains a button which (when pressed) adds 1 to the 'rows' integer. The problem starts, when it starts reusing cells (I am guessing) and content start disappearing. When I scroll back up, the UILabels I am putting in the cells are gone. Is there some bug, code error, mistake, dumb-ass-move I am missing here? Hope anyone can help.

• How to stop OpenGL from applying blending to certain content? (see pics)

  Supporting Info: I use cocos2d to draw a sprite (graph background) on the screen (z:-1). I then use cocos2d to draw lines/points (z:0) on top of the background -- and make some calls to OpenGL blending functions before the drawing to SMOOTH out the lines. Problem: The problem is that: aside from producing smooth lines/points, calling these OpenGL blending functions seems to "degrade" the underlying sprite (graph background). As you can see from the images below, the "degraded" background seems to be made darker and less sharp in Case 2. So there is a tradeoff: I can either have (Case 1) a nice background and choppy lines/points, or I can have (Case 2) nice smooth lines/points and a degraded background. But obviously I need both. THE QUESTION: How do I set OpenGL so as to only apply the blending to the layer with the Lines/Points in it and thus leave the background alone? The Code: I have included code of the draw() method of the CCLayer for both cases explained above. As you can see, the code producing the difference between Case 1 and Case 2 seems to be 1 or 2 lines involving OpenGL Blending.   Is there a full tastypie django example site and setup available for download? I have been wrestling with wrapping my head around it all day. I have the following code. Basically, I have a POST form that is handled with ajax. When I click "submit" on my form and the ajax request runs, the call returns "POST http://192.168.1.110:8000/api/private/client_basic_info/ 404 (NOT FOUND)" I have the URL configured alright, I think. I can access http://192.168.1.110:8000/api/private/client_basic_info/?format=json just fine. Am I missing some settings or making some fundamental errors in my methods? I want to try updating the entry now. Would that just be appending the pk to the ajax url? For example /api/private/client_basic_info/21/? When I submit that form I get a 501 NOT IMPLEMENTED message. What exactly haven't I implemented? I am subclassing ModelResource, which should have all the ORM-related functions implemented according to the docs.

• Can't get Jacobi algorithm to work in Objective-C

  Hi, For some reason, I can't get this program to work. I've had other CS majors look at it and they can't figure it out either. This program performs the Jacobi algorithm (you can see step-by-step instructions and a MATLAB implementation here). BTW, it's different from the Wikipedia article of the same name. Since NSArray is one-dimensional, I added a method that makes it act like a two-dimensional C array. After running the Jacobi algorithm many times, the diagonal entries in the NSArray (i[0][0], i[1][1], etc.) are supposed to get bigger and the others approach 0. For some reason though, they all increase exponentially. For instance, i[2][4] should equal 0.0000009, not 9999999, while i[2][2] should be big. From my reading of the MySQL documentation, this seems like a reasonable complaint, especially in regards to the third bullet point on this doc page. Here's my question. Am I missing something in the DBIx::Class module? I realize that I could explicitly create the necessary index to match up with this foreign key constraint, but that seems to be repetitive work. Is there something I should be doing to make this occur implicitly?

• Records not being saved to core data sqlite file

  I'm a complete newbie when it comes to iOS programming and much less Core Data. It's rather non-intuitive for me, as I really came into my own with programming with MATLAB, which I guess is more of a 'scripting' language. At any rate, my problem is that I had no idea what I had to do to create a database for my application. So I read a little bit and thought I had to create a SQL database of my stuff and then import it. Long story short, I created a SQLite db and I want to use the work I have already done to import stuff into my CoreData database. I tried exporting to comma-delimited files and xml files and reading those in, but I didn't like it and it seemed like an extra step that I shouldn't need to do. So, I imported the SQLite database into my resources and added the sqlite framework. I have my core data model setup and it is setting up the SQLite database for the model correctly in the background. When I run through my program to add objects to my entities, it seems to work and I can even fetch results afterward. However, when I inspect the Core Data Database SQLite file, no records have been saved.   My app makes updates in background thread then saves context changes. And in main context there is a table view that works with NSFetchedResultsController. For some time updates work correctly, but then exception is thrown. To check this I've added NSLog(@"%@", [self.controller fetchedObjects]); to -controllerDidChangeContent:. • Class member functions instantiated by traits [policies, actually]

  I am reluctant to say I can't figure this out, but I can't figure this out. I've googled and searched Stack Overflow, and come up empty. The abstract, and possibly overly vague form of the question is, how can I use the traits-pattern to instantiate member functions? [Update: I used the wrong term here. It should be "policies" rather than "traits." Traits describe existing classes. Policies prescribe synthetic classes.] The question came up while modernizing a set of multivariate function optimizers that I wrote more than 10 years ago. The optimizers all operate by selecting a straight-line path through the parameter space away from the current best point (the "update"), then finding a better point on that line (the "line search"), then testing for the "done" condition, and if not done, iterating. There are different methods for doing the update, the line-search, and conceivably for the done test, and other things. Mix and match. Different update formulae require different state-variable data. For example, the LMQN update requires a vector, and the BFGS update requires a matrix. If evaluating gradients is cheap, the line-search should do so. If not, it should use function evaluations only. Some methods require more accurate line-searches than others. Those are just some examples. The original version instantiates several of the combinations by means of virtual functions. Some traits are selected by setting mode bits that are tested at runtime. Yuck. It would be trivial to define the traits with #define's and the member functions with #ifdef's and macros. But that's so twenty years ago. It bugs me that I cannot figure out a whiz-bang modern way. If there were only one trait that varied, I could use the curiously recurring template pattern. But I see no way to extend that to arbitrary combinations of traits. I tried doing it using boost::enable_if, etc.. The specialized state information was easy. I managed to get the functions done, but only by resorting to non-friend external functions that have the this-pointer as a parameter. I never even figured out how to make the functions friends, much less member functions. The compiler (VC++ 2008) always complained that things didn't match.   I'm trying Google's PageSpeed online service Ironically, it's primarily highlighting Google's own services as something that needs improvement on my site 1) jQuery from Google: blocking. So I moved all javascript from <head> to the end of the document before </body>. That helped 2) Linking to external Google Font CSS (in <head>): blocking. But the font is critical to the design of the page and should load before much else 3) Google Analytics: Caching is not good. (Google has set it internally to 2 hours expiration). Don't know how to change this (this is also placed at the bottom of page) The Google Font is highlighted as a big priority to change. How can I fix this? Where/how should I call the the font?

Recently I've gone through another wave of self-improvement in my coding practices (mostly brought on by reading Clean Code) and I find that some of the things I disagree with. I'd hate to take things at face value and not think about them critically, but I wonder whether or not my thinking is wrong. • Secret Server 7.3 released – store your team’s passwords securely.

  The Thycotic team just recently released 7.3 of our enterprise password management system.  The main improvement was the UI – we used lots of jQuery to make a Dashboard-like interface that allows you to create tabs, drag widgets, add/remove widgets etc.  This was a great face lift for a tool that is already the cornerstone for password management in many IT departments.
