• How to get Intellisense to only show the Properties or only the Events etc

  Hi, I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds it a bit annoying when scanning say Events in Intellisense and having to wade thru all the Properties etc as well. Is there a way/plugin or something to allow the selection of only Events, only Properties etc? That would really be a big plus! Thx in advance for any help.

  As a result of a conversation with a colleague today, I've been searching (unsuccessfully) for a large'ish list of what technology stacks are being used popular websites and standalone applications today. We're aware of the big ones like Facebook (php/ ), Twitter (scala/cassandra), Youtube (python/?), Digg (php/cassandra), stackoverflow (.net mvc/sqlserver), but we're looking for a more complete list. It would also be interesting to hear about any stats for desktop apps also? Can anyone help?

• can this simple SQL query be optimized?

  Hi, I have the following query : SELECT COUNT(*) FROM Address adr INNER JOIN Auditable a on adr.UniqueId = a.UniqueId on a big DB (1.3M adresses, 4M+ auditables) both UniqueId columns are clustered primary keys the query is taking quite long to complete...I feel dumb, but is there any way to optimize it? I want to count all the address entries that have an underlying auditable... thanks!

  I'm working on a data mining research project and use code from a big svn. Apparently one of the methods I use from that svn uses randomness somewhere without asking for a seed, which makes 2 calls to my program return different results. That's annoying for what I want to do, so I'm trying to locate that "uncontrolled" randomness. Since the classes I use depend on many other, that's pretty painful to do by hand. Any idea how I could find where that randomness comes from ?

• How to break whenever any line of code executes

  I have a very strange bug, which I believe is caused by some code we have executing, but I'm not sure where. We can reproduce it to the point it happens whenever we click Tab, but short of putting a break point at the beginning of every method in the project to find out what is executing. Is there a way to set visual studio to break whenever anything executes? For those curious about the problem, every now and then, we have a few Rich Text Boxes that refuse to lose focus. You can't click out of it or tab out of it. We have no On Validation or On Text Changed events attached to the control, and believe it's an event attached somewhere else to something we just aren't noticing.

• Debug assertion does not prompt in IIS 7

  Hi, since moving to Windows 7 (IIS 7.5), the debug assertions do not prompt a pop up dialog anymore. I have tested this in a separate project, and noticed that they do work when using the integrated Visual Studio Developer server (Cassini) but they do not work when using IIS Web Server. This is a big issue for us since we are counting on debug assertions to identify potential programming errors, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Eyal.

• Formatting PHP Code within Vim

  I'm currently using Vim as a lightweight IDE. I have NERDTree, bufexplorer, supertab, and ctags plugins which do almost everything I want. Only big thing missing for me is auto code formatting. I'm working with some messy PHP code which has inconsistent indenting and code formatting, ideally I could highlight the code I want formatted (whole files would be fine too) and run a command to tidy it. Does anybody have a nice solution for this working in Vim?

• cross domain DOM access and manipulation in Java ?

  In my Java app, how can I incorporate the browser (which loads and renders URLs) in Swing and access it's DOM and manipulate HTML ? How can you embed such browser in a Rich Internet Application and access it's DOM ? More specifically, Vaadin ? Is there a HTTP proxy class that can load an external URL, and render it to the user ? This was what I was doing on LAMP stack....but I want to switch to Vaadin or some Java web framework where I can just use Java to do everything from server-side to client-side logic design, so I can focus more on application logic. • Drupal, Lightbox: is possible to have a "2-level" lightbox with different dimesions ?

  hi, I have a gallery of images and I use the lightbox to display them in a modal window. I would like to also show them in Fullscreen (or at least full window). I saw that when the image is too big Lightbox2 shows a small "Enlarge" icon on the bottom right and it display the image full dimensions. Can I have that icon always, and always resize the images in the lightbox ?

For instance, passing a char to a function is usually cheaper in space than passing a char* (if there's no need to share the value), since char is 1 byte and pointers are, well, whatever they are in the architecture (4 in my 32 bit machine). ?(When) do you want to pass (big) deep copies to functions? if so, why?
