• CakePHP hasOne ineffeciency?

  I was looking at examples on the CakePHP website, in particular hasOne used in linking models. http://book.cakephp.org/view/78/Associations-Linking-Models-Together My question is this, is CakePHP using two queries to build the array structure of data returned in a model that uses hasOne linkage? Taken from CakePHP: //Sample results from a $this-User-find() call. • [jquery] return the inserted element

  Hello, i'm pretty new to jquery. I'm trying to insert an element to the DOM, and get that element back in my script. Ex: var elem = $("body").append(""); $(elem).show(); but it seems that .append returns the whole jQuery object.. am i supposed to use an ID for the inserted element and always reference it by it?? i really hope that there is a smarter move here. • printing out posts

  Hi, I'm using the Firefox browser and trying to print out my posts (and replies). The pdf output doesn't include the comments in the posts. How to make sure that everything which is on the page gets printed? Same goes for codes for which are in a window. Only the visible part of the code gets printed. These are not programming questions :) but I hope that someone can suggest how to get proper printouts of the posts. Thanks a lot...

• Why my WCF Service returns xml serialized objects?

  Hi, I'm new here and I hope anyonte can help me. I have WCF Service and Windows Forms working with this client written in VB.NET. The Service class started to return xml serialized objects, but all my classes on Service side are DataContract-s and the service class is DataContractFormat. I googled everywhere about serializations and I couldn't find reason why it started to do that. I checked my classes and service, app.config file, but I couldn't find anything. I checked Reference.vb class, and it's System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute everywhere. The question may seem dummy, but I really don't know what to do. I just want to know what can cause the service to act like that. Thank you.

  i hope someone can help me ... i am using apache tomcat 8.0.0-RC5 and JSR-356 web socket API ... I have 2 questions: 1) Is it possible to get the client ip on @OnOpen method ?? 2) Is it possible to get the origin of the connection ??? I followed the websocket example which comes with the distribution of tomcat and i was not able to find the answers .... • Check for state change in objects using serialization?

  I have a form that is bind to an object, and when the user trying to leave the form, I want to warn them if anything on the form has been changed, and prompt them to save. My question is, is there any way to achieve this without implementing IComparar for all my classes in the binded object? I was thinking if there is a way I can serialize my object when loading the form, and do a simple comparison against the change object that also get serialized. Something like a string comparison. • Basic help needed with pointers

  Hi, i asked some time ago on an account i cant remember how to manipulate basic pointers and someone gave me a really good demo for example char *ptr = hello (hello = a char array) so now *ptr is pointing at h ptr++ = moves the ptr to point at the next element, to get its value i do *ptr and that gives me e ok so far i hope :D but now i need to manipulate a char **ptr and was wondering how i do this in a way that mimmicks the effects of a 2d array? some basic tips would be much appreciated as i need to do an assignment that has a **ptr to immitate a 2d array and without knowing how it does this first means i cant even solve it on paper (for example, how do you dereference a **ptr, how do you get [x][y] values etc) thanks

• Convert a complicated string into an array in php

  I have a php variable that comes from a form that needs tidying up. I hope you can help. The variable contains a list of items (possibly two or three word items with a space in between words). I want to convert it to a comma separated list with no superfluous white space. I want the divisions to fall only at commas, semi-colons or new-lines. Blank cannot be an item. Here's a comprehensive example (with a deliberately messy input): Variable In: "dog, cat ,car,tea pot,, ,,, ;;(++NEW LINE++)fly, cake" Variable Out "dog,cat,car,tea pot,fly,cake" Can anyone help?

• Java: serial thread confinement question

  Assume you have a Collection(ConcurrentLinkedQueue) of Runnables with mutable state. Thread A iterates over the Collection and hands the Runnables to an ExecutorService. The run() method changes the Runnables state. The Runnable has no internal synchronization. The above is a repetitive action and the worker threads need to see the changes made by previous iterations. So a Runnable gets processed by one worker thread after another, but is never accessed by more than one thread at a time - a case of serial thread confinement(i hope ;)). The question: Will it work just with the internal synchronization of the ConcurrentLinkedQueue/ExecutorSerivce? To be more precise: If Thread A hands Runnable R to worker thread B and B changes the state of R, and then A hands R to worker thread C..does C see the modifications done by B?

• Drupal, Views, Exposed filter: custom default selected tags

  hi I'm using Drupal, Views with a exposed filter (using taxonomy). My customer wants to set from back-end the default selected tags (in order to pre-filter the views content). In the exposed filter settings, there is functionality. However, it doesn't work properly: when I click on "Select None" link (I'm using better_exposed_filter module) I expect none of the tags are selected, instead, the default configuration (default selected tags) are selected, so actually it doesn't work anymore. I hope it is clear. So, I was wondering if I can prepare a custom menu in which my user can check/uncheck the default selected tags in the view. thanks

  Im building an ad-system where users can dynamically create 'fields' for each ad type. [Label] Star rating: [hidden_field :ad_id] [hidden_field :ad_option_id] [text_field :value] [Label] Breakfast included? [hidden_field :ad_id] [hidden_field :ad_option_id] [text_field :value] And also, how to save the values when the ad record is saved I hope this is understandable.   Hi..:) For documentation and presentation purposes, we often find professionals/students creating SRS, coding guidelines etc. for these things there is some kind of a checklist which one could use to appropriately match what could relate to a specific case and accordingly one does a documentation for each. On those grounds could you please give me some sort of a checklist( any points/guidelines) one could use for going about Implementation( in the form of Implementation Details) in Python and C++ . Although this might sound specific as the query is "Implementation Details" and is different for different cases as one goes about the REAL implementation, I just want a SET of guidelines one should follow ( Preferably In Python, C++ specific, even for any other language is Welcome) if this( Implementation Details ) has to also be documented or presented. Hope the question is clear, I am sorry if it still sounds ambiguous, I guess this is the best I could do to frame my query. Thank you for your time...:)

• How to deploy a c# application while including third party DLL's?

  To start with, I don't know much of deployment. I hope my question makes sense. I need to install/deploy a c# application to a number of desktops. It needs a third-party DLL : a c++ library ("lpsolve55.dll", for those interested, it is a free MIP/LP solver, see lpsolve.sourceforge.net/5.5/). I use it in my code in the following way: [DllImport("lpsolve55.dll", SetLastError = true)] public static extern bool add_column(int lp, double[] column); For testing, I have manually copied the .dll file to to project\bin\release, it works fine. My question: I will need an installer for the application, which will manage that the .dll will install as well. I am considering clickonce deployment since I am using visual studio express (2008), but any not too expensive solution will do. What would you advice?

  When error occured Python prints something like this: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 2, in <module> File "<stdin>", line 8, in m File "<stdin>", line 5, in exec_st File "<stdin>", line 9, in exec_assign File "<stdin>", line 48, in ref_by_id IndexError: list index out of range where 2, ... , 48 are relative line numbers which are not very convenient. How to print absolute line numbers in such error messages? EDIT: Maybe it's a dumb question, but answer will facilitate development a little. I'm printing text in several files. When done, press shortcut which runs python and copies contents of current file to console. Proposed solution forces to press excess keystrokes (Ctrl+S, Alt+Tab) and create additional files. I hope I have put it clear.

• ASP.NET MVC Render Ajax / Standard View

  I am a little confused and making it alot more complicated than this needs to be! Here is what I have... A view which displays a drop down of US States. When the user chooses a state it loads a list of data from a database and returns the results (populates the View Model) and the View renders the information. What I wanted to do was have have the dropdown trigger an Ajax event which performs the data load, but also wanted it to depreciate if the user didn't have Javascript enabled. How would I go about rendering the view with AND without javascript / ajax? Hope that makes sense. Thanks for your help.

  i create a simple cron job by editing /etc/crontab as following: */2 * * * * * php /Users/min/Documents/testcron.php and the testcron.php is simple as: <?php $fd = fopen("/Users/min/Documents/testcron.txt", 'a'); fwrite($fd, "test--cron--\n"); fclose($fd); ?> then simply save the crontab file and hope magic happen, but nothing happened. i even run the command manually and it worked. php /Users/min/Documents/testcron.php anyone have any idea? I tried to create a map like so: Map<Debater, int> (Debater is an Interface I declared) but java complained about the int, so I did: Map<Debater, Integer> I suppose it's because int is not a class while Integer is, is this correct?   I have a form with 3 sections in it. Each section has a dedicated div for fairly long contextual help messages regarding the input that has focus. My question is, if I give each of these help divs a class of "form-tip" and each input that has a tip the class "has-tip", how can I get the tip to always show up in the previous "form-tip" div? Something like: $('.has-tip').each(focus(function() { var tip = $(this).attr('title'); // Find most recent $('.form-tip') in the DOM and populate it with tip })); I hope that makes sense...   I have a table (apples) containing: cid date_am date_pm ---------------------- 1 1 1 2 2 1 3 1 3 1 1 2 I asked a question earlier (badly) about how I would rank the customers in order of the number of ones(1) they had. The solution was (based on one column): SELECT cid, sum( date_pm ) AS No_of_ones FROM apples WHERE date_am =1 GROUP BY cid ORDER BY no_of_ones DESC This works great for one column but how would I do the same for the sum of the two columns. ie. SELECT cid, sum( date_pm ) AS No_of_ones FROM apples WHERE date_am =1 add to SELECT cid, sum( date_am ) AS No_of_ones FROM apples WHERE date_pm =1 GROUP by cid ORDER by no_of_ones(added) hope I've managed to make that clear enough for you to help -thanks

• using subset but old variables still left

  I am working with a data set, which is basically daily usage data (let's just say variable X and Y) by different cities (about 150 cities). I have created a subset of data for only specific cities, choosing just 3 of the 150 cities. Then when I do tapply by cities, I get means for 3 cities but also get NA for all other 147 cities that was in the data set. I am using the below coding df<-read.csv(...) df_sub<-subset(df,df$City==1|df$City==3|df$City==19) X_Breakdown<-tapply(X,df_sub$City, mean, na.rm=TRUE) Print(X_Breakdown) City 1 City 2 15 NA City 3 City 4 12 NA City 5 City 6 NA NA Hope you get the idea. I would like to get a dataset that only contains the 3 cities that I'm interested in. It seems that the set of variables is encoded in R, is there a way to fix this? Kindly advise. Thanks
