  • SDL Bullet Movement

    - by Code Assasssin
    I'm currently working on my first space shooter, and I'm in the process of making my ship shoot some bullets/lasers. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time getting the bullets to fly vertically. I'm a total noob when it comes to this so you might have a hard time understanding my code :/ // Position Bullet Function projectilex = x + 17; projectiley = y + -20; if(keystates[SDLK_SPACE]) { alive = true; } And here's my show function if(alive) { if(frame == 2) { frame = 0; } apply_surface(projectilex,projectiley,ShootStuff,screen,&lazers[frame]); frame++; projectiley + 1; } I'm trying to get the bullet to fly vertically... and I have no clue how to do that. I've tried messing with the y coordinate but that makes things worse. The laser/bullet just follows the ship :( How would I get it to fire at the starting position and keep going in a vertical line without it following the ship? int main( int argc, char* args[] ) { Player p; Timer fps; bool quit = false; if( init() == false ) { return 1; } //Load the files if( load_files() == false ) { return 1; } clip[ 0 ].x = 0; clip[ 0 ].y = 0; clip[ 0 ].w = 30; clip[ 0 ].h = 36; clip[ 1 ].x = 31; clip[ 1 ].y = 0; clip[ 1 ].w = 39; clip[ 1 ].h = 36; clip[ 2 ].x = 71; clip[ 2 ].y = 0; clip[ 2 ].w = 29; clip[ 2 ].h = 36; lazers [ 0 ].x = 0; lazers [ 0 ].y = 0; lazers [ 0 ].w = 3; lazers [ 0 ].h = 9; lazers [ 1 ].x = 5; lazers [ 1 ].y = 0; lazers [ 1 ].w = 3; lazers [ 1 ].h = 7; while( quit == false ) { fps.start(); //While there's an event to handle while( SDL_PollEvent( &event ) ) { p.handle_input(); //If a key was pressed //If the user has Xed out the window if( event.type == SDL_QUIT ) { //Quit the program quit = true; } } //Scroll background bgX -= 8; //If the background has gone too far if( bgX <= -GameBackground->w ) { //Reset the offset bgX = 0; } p.move(); apply_surface( bgX, bgY,GameBackground, screen ); apply_surface( bgX + GameBackground->w, bgY, GameBackground, screen ); apply_surface(0,0, FullHealthBar,screen); p.shoot(); p.show(); //Apply the message //Update the screen if( SDL_Flip( screen ) == -1 ) { return 1; } SDL_Flip(GameBackground); if( fps.get_ticks() < 1000 / FRAMES_PER_SECOND ) { SDL_Delay( ( 1000 / FRAMES_PER_SECOND ) - fps.get_ticks() ); } } //Clean up clean_up(); return 0; }

  • Using Ghostscript in a Webapplication (PDF Thumbnails)

    - by cpt.oneeye
    Hello, i am using the ghostscriptsharp wrapper for c# and ghostscript. I want to generate thumbnails out of pdf-files. Further Information on the sample-code are given here. There are different Methods imported form the ghostscript-c-dll "gsdll32.dll". [DllImport("gsdll32.dll", EntryPoint = "gsapi_new_instance")] private static extern int CreateAPIInstance(out IntPtr pinstance, IntPtr caller_handle); [DllImport("gsdll32.dll", EntryPoint = "gsapi_init_with_args")] private static extern int InitAPI(IntPtr instance, int argc, IntPtr argv); //...and so on I am using the GhostscriptWrapper for generating the thumbnails in a webapplication (.net 2.0). This class uses the methods imported above. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e){ GhostscriptWrapper.GeneratePageThumb("c:\\sample.pdf", "c:\\sample.jpg", 1, 100, 100); } When i debug the Web-Application in Visual Studio 2008 by hitting key "F5" it works fine (a new instance of webserver is generated). When i create a WindowsForm Application it works too. The thumbnails get generated. When i access the application with the webbrowser directly (http://localhoast/mywebappliation/..) it doesn't work. No thumbnails are generated. But there is also no exception thrown. I placed the gsdll32.dll in the system32-folder of windows xp. The Ghostscript Runtime is installed too. I have given full access in the IIS-Webproject (.Net 2.0). Does anybody know why i can't access Ghostscript from my webapplication? Are there any security-issues for accessing dll-files on the IIS-Server? Greetings Klaus

  • Ivar definitions show 'long' type encoding as 'long long' type encoding

    - by Frank C.
    I've found what I think may be a bug with Ivar and Objective-C runtime. I'm using XCode 3.2.1 and associated libraries, developing a 64 bit app on X86_64 (MacBook Pro). Where I would expect the type encoding for the following "longVal" to be 'l', the Ivar encoding is showing a 'q' (which is a 'long long'). Anyone else seeing this? Simplified code and output follows: Code: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import <objc/runtime.h> @interface Bug : NSObject { long longVal; long long longerVal; } @property (nonatomic,assign) long longVal; @property (nonatomic,assign) long long longerVal; @end @implementation Bug @synthesize longVal,longerVal; @end int main (int argc, const char * argv[]) { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; unsigned int ivarCount=0; Ivar *ivars= class_copyIvarList([Bug class], &ivarCount); for(unsigned int x=0;x<ivarCount;x++) { NSLog(@"Name [%@] encoding [%@]", [NSString stringWithCString:ivar_getName(ivars[x]) encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding], [NSString stringWithCString:ivar_getTypeEncoding(ivars[x]) encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]); } [pool drain]; return 0; } And here is output from debug console: This GDB was configured as "x86_64-apple-darwin".tty /dev/ttys000 Loading program into debugger… sharedlibrary apply-load-rules all Program loaded. run [Switching to process 6048] Running… 2010-03-17 22:16:29.138 ivarbug[6048:a0f] Name [longVal] encoding [q] 2010-03-17 22:16:29.146 ivarbug[6048:a0f] Name [longerVal] encoding [q] (gdb) continue Not a pretty picture! -- Frank

  • CreateProcess doesn't pass command line arguments

    - by mnh
    Hello I have the following code but it isn't working as expected, can't figure out what the problem is. Basically, I'm executing a process (a .NET process) and passing it command line arguments, it is executed successfully by CreateProcess() but CreateProcess() isn't passing the command line arguments What am I doing wrong here?? int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { PROCESS_INFORMATION ProcessInfo; //This is what we get as an [out] parameter STARTUPINFO StartupInfo; //This is an [in] parameter ZeroMemory(&StartupInfo, sizeof(StartupInfo)); StartupInfo.cb = sizeof StartupInfo ; //Only compulsory field LPTSTR cmdArgs = "[email protected]"; if(CreateProcess("D:\\email\\smtp.exe", cmdArgs, NULL,NULL,FALSE,0,NULL, NULL,&StartupInfo,&ProcessInfo)) { WaitForSingleObject(ProcessInfo.hProcess,INFINITE); CloseHandle(ProcessInfo.hThread); CloseHandle(ProcessInfo.hProcess); printf("Yohoo!"); } else { printf("The process could not be started..."); } return 0; } EDIT: Hey one more thing, if I pass my cmdArgs like this: // a space as the first character LPTSTR cmdArgs = " [email protected]"; Then I get the error, then CreateProcess returns TRUE but my target process isn't executed. Object reference not set to an instance of an object

  • Cache Simulator in C

    - by DuffDuff
    Ok this is only my second question, and it's quite a doozy. It's for a school assignment, but no one (including the TAs) seems to be able to help me. It's kind of a tall order but I'm not sure where else to turn. Essentially the assignment was to make a cache simulator. This version is direct mapping and is actually only a small portion of the whole project, but if I can't even get this down I have no chance with other associativities. I'm posting my whole code because I don't want to make any assumptions about where the problem is. This is the test case: http://www.mediafire.com/?ty5dnihydnw And you run the following command: ./sims 512 direct 32 fifo wt pinatrace.out You're supposed to get: hits: 604037 misses 138349 writes: 239269 reads: 138349 But I get: Hits: 587148 Misses: 155222 Writes: 239261 Reads: 155222 If anyone could at least point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. I've been stuck on this for about 12 hours. #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <math.h> struct myCache { int valid; char *tag; char *block; }; /* sim [-h] <cache size> <associativity> <block size> <replace alg> <write policy> <trace file> */ //God willing I come up with a better Hex to Bin convertion that maintains the beginning 0s... void hex2bin(char input[], char output[]) { int i; • Help debugging c fifos code - stack smashing detected - open call not functioning - removing pipes

    - by nunos
    I have three bugs/questions regarding the source code pasted below: stack smashing deteced: In order to compile and not have that error I have addedd the gcc compile flag -fno-stack-protector. However, this should be just a temporary solution, since I would like to find where the cause for this is and correct it. However, I haven't been able to do so. Any clues? For some reason, the last open function call doesn't work and the programs just stops there, without an error, even though the fifo already exists. I want to delete the pipes from the filesystem after before terminating the processes. I have added close and unlink statements at the end, but the fifos are not removed. What am I doing wrong? Thanks very much in advance. P.S.: I am pasting here the whole source file for additional clarity. Just ignore the comments, since they are in my own native language. server.c: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <errno.h> #define MAX_INPUT_LENGTH 100 #define FIFO_NAME_MAX_LEN 20 #define FIFO_DIR "/tmp/" #define FIFO_NAME_CMD_CLI_TO_SRV "lrc_cmd_cli_to_srv" typedef enum { false, true } bool; • Cocoa Bindings and Application Preferences - Crash

    - by iaefai
    Using the document provided by Apple to create an application preferences window that doesn't require any extra code, I seem to have triggered a crash that cannot be traced by me. While the stuff from Apple is older, I believe I have the settings pretty much the same as shown here: When I run my application (Hcode) and go to the preferences menu item, it brings up the proper window with the defaults I specified in the bindings with the exception of the Spaces per tab is blank (no idea how to fix this). When the window is closed, the application crashes with a backtrace similar to this: (gdb) bt #0 0x00007fff800cb1d4 in objc_msgSend_vtable5 () #1 0x00007fff80447cf3 in -[NSMenu _enableItem:] () #2 0x00007fff80447ad8 in -[NSCarbonMenuImpl _carbonUpdateStatusEvent:handlerCallRef:] () #3 0x00007fff8042b3b0 in NSSLMMenuEventHandler () #4 0x00007fff80e06b57 in DispatchEventToHandlers () #5 0x00007fff80e060a6 in SendEventToEventTargetInternal () #6 0x00007fff80e23d85 in SendEventToEventTarget () #7 0x00007fff80e52e61 in SendHICommandEvent () #8 0x00007fff80e66357 in UpdateHICommandStatusWithCachedEvent () #9 0x00007fff80e02a6d in HIApplication::EventHandler () #10 0x00007fff80e06b57 in DispatchEventToHandlers () #11 0x00007fff80e060a6 in SendEventToEventTargetInternal () #12 0x00007fff80e23d85 in SendEventToEventTarget () #13 0x00007fff80e6599b in SendMenuOpening () #14 0x00007fff80e65388 in DrawTheMenu () #15 0x00007fff80e65149 in MenuChanged () #16 0x00007fff80e643d4 in TrackMenuCommon () #17 0x00007fff80e60dbe in MenuSelectCore () #18 0x00007fff80e60596 in _HandleMenuSelection2 () #19 0x00007fff802fc3b9 in _NSHandleCarbonMenuEvent () #20 0x00007fff802cfeda in _DPSNextEvent () #21 0x00007fff802cf379 in -[NSApplication nextEventMatchingMask:untilDate:inMode:dequeue:] () #22 0x00007fff8029505b in -[NSApplication run] () #23 0x00007fff8028dd7c in NSApplicationMain () #24 0x0000000100001cac in main (argc=1, argv=0x7fff5fbff5e0) at /Users/iaefai/Projects/Hcode/Source/main.m:13 I am at a complete loss as to what the problem is. • Qt, no such slot error

    - by Martin Beckett
    I'm having a strange problem with slots in Qt4.6 I have a tree control that I am trying to fire an event back to the mainwindow to edit something. I have boiled it down to this minimal example: class MainWindow : public QMainWindow { Q_OBJECT public: MainWindow(int argc, char **argv ); private Q_SLOTS: void about() {QMessageBox::about(this, "about","about"); } // Just the defaul about box void doEditFace() {QMessageBox::about(this, "test","doEditFace"); } // pretty identical .... } class TreeModel : public QAbstractItemModel { Q_OBJECT Q_SIGNALS: void editFace(); ... } In my Mainwindow() I have connect(treeModel, SIGNAL(editFace()), this, SLOT(about())); // returns true connect(treeModel, SIGNAL(editFace()), this, SLOT(doEditFace())); // returns false When I run it the second line gives a warning. Object::connect: No such slot MainWindow::doEditFace() in \src\mainwindow.cpp:588 As far as I can see the doEditFace() is in the moc_ qmeta class perfectly correctly. And the edit event fires and pops up the about box. The order doesn't matterm if I connect the about box second it still works but my slot doesnt! vS2008 windowsXP qt4.6.2

  • Using SDL2_gfx issues using C++

    - by Lance Zimmerman
    When I use the it with the common.c /common.h files that come with it, if I use the cpp instead of c extension using VS201X I get the LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _SDL_main What that means is if I change the file containing main to test.c it compiles. When I change it back to text.cpp it fails to compile. I think that means it only works as a C compile. Here is the code I copied from SDL2_gfxPrimitives.c. (Spaces added so they would show up.) #include < stdio.h> #include < stdlib.h> #include < string.h> #include < math.h> #include < time.h> #include "common.h" #include "SDL2_gfxPrimitives.h" static CommonState *state; int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { /* Initialize test framework */ state = CommonCreateState(argv, SDL_INIT_VIDEO); return 1; } I need to use the library in C++ but it seems I don't know enough to figure out how. Any help would be appreciated, I've spent two days attempting to figure this out.

  • multiple compiling errors with basic C++ application on VS2010 Beta 1

    - by ratata
    I just recently installed VS2010 Beta 1 from the Microsoft website , I started a basic C++ Win32 Console Application , that generated the following code: #include "stdafx.h" int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { return 0; } I tried compiling the code just to see how it runs and just then I encountered several(over a 100) compiling errors. Here is the first part of the build output: 1>ClCompile: 1> stdafx.cpp 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): error C2065: '_In_opt_z_' : undeclared identifier 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): error C2143: syntax error : missing ')' before 'const' 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): warning C4229: anachronism used : modifiers on data are ignored 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): error C2182: '_invalid_parameter' : illegal use of type 'void' 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): error C2491: '_invalid_parameter' : definition of dllimport data not allowed 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): error C2059: syntax error : ')' 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(527): error C2065: '_In_opt_z_' : undeclared identifier 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(527): error C2143: syntax error : missing ')' before 'const' 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(527): warning C4229: anachronism used : modifiers on data are ignored pastebin for the full list I thought maybe the include files got mixed up by some other compiler version I have installed previously( I have VS 2008 as well) so I reinstalled VS2010 just to overwrite the headers but that didn't do much. • PDCurses TUI C++ Win32 console app - Access violation reading location

    - by Bach
    I have downloaded pdcurses source and was able to successfully include curses.h in my project, linked the pre-compiled library and all good. After few hours of trying out the library, I saw the tuidemo.c in the demos folder, compiled it into an executable and brilliant! exactly what I needed for my project. Now the problem is that it's a C code, and I am working on a C++ project in VS c++ 2008. The files I need are tui.c and tui.h How can I include that C file in my C++ code? I saw few suggestions here but the compiler was not too happy with 100's of warnings and errors. How can I go on including/using that TUI pdcurses includes!? Thanks EDIT: I added extern "C" statement, so my test looks like this now, but I'm getting some other type of error #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> using namespace std; extern "C" { #include <tui.h> } void sub0(void) { //do nothing } void sub1(void) { //do nothing } int main (int argc, char * const argv[]) { menu MainMenu[] = { { "Asub", sub0, "Go inside first submenu" }, { "Bsub", sub1, "Go inside second submenu" }, { "", (FUNC)0, "" } /* always add this as the last item! */ }; startmenu(MainMenu, "TUI - 'textual user interface' demonstration program"); return 0; } Although it is compiling successfully, it is throwing an Error at runtime, which suggests a bad pointer: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x021c52f9 at line startmenu(MainMenu, "TUI - 'textual user interface' demonstration program"); Not sure where to go from here. thanks again.

  • How do I test OpenCL on GPU when logged in remotely on Mac?

    - by Christopher Bruns
    My OpenCL program can find the GPU device when I am logged in at the console, but not when I am logged in remotely with ssh. Further, if I run the program as root in the ssh session, the program can find the GPU. The computer is a Snow Leopard Mac with a GeForce 9400 GPU. If I run the program (see below) from the console or as root, the output is as follows (notice the "GeForce 9400" line): 2 devices found Device #0 name = GeForce 9400 Device #1 name = Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz but if it is just me, over ssh, there is no GeForce 9400 entry: 1 devices found Device #0 name = Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz I would like to test my code on the GPU without having to be root. Is that possible? Simplified GPU finding program below: #include <stdio.h> #include <OpenCL/opencl.h> int main(int argc, char** argv) { char dname[500]; size_t namesize; cl_device_id devices[10]; cl_uint num_devices; int d; clGetDeviceIDs(0, CL_DEVICE_TYPE_ALL, 10, devices, &num_devices); printf("%d devices found\n", num_devices); for (d = 0; d < num_devices; ++d) { clGetDeviceInfo(devices[d], CL_DEVICE_NAME, 500, dname, &namesize); printf("Device #%d name = %s\n", d, dname); } return 0; } EDIT: I found essentially the same question being asked on nvidia's forums. Unfortunately, the only answer was of the form "this is the wrong forum".

  • ifstream Open function not working

    - by Dave Swersky
    I've been all over the ifstream questions here on SO and I'm still having trouble reading a simple text file. I'm working with Visual Studio 2008. Here's my code: // CPPFileIO.cpp : Defines the entry point for the console application. // #include "stdafx.h" #include <fstream> #include <conio.h> #include <iostream> #include <string> using namespace std; int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { ifstream infile; infile.open("input.txt", ifstream::in); if (infile.is_open()) { while (infile.good()) cout << (char) infile.get(); } else { cout << "Unable to open file."; } infile.close(); _getch(); return 0; } I have confirmed that the input.txt file is in the correct "working directory" by checking the value of argv[0]. The Open method just won't work. I'm also having trouble debugging- should I not be able to set a watch on "infile.good()" or "infile.is_open()"? I keep getting "Error: member function not present." EDIT: Updated code listing with full code from .CPP file. UPDATE: The file was NOT in the Current Working Directory. This is the directory where the project file is located. Moved it there and it works when debugging in VS.NET.

  • Forking with Pipes

  • How to parse kanji numeric characters using ICU?

    - by Aki
    I'm writing a function using ICU to parse an Unicode string which consists of kanji numeric character(s) and want to return the integer value of the string. "?" = 5 "???" = 31 "???????" = 5972 I'm setting the locale to Locale::getJapan() and using the NumberFormat::parse() to parse the character string. However, whenever I pass it any Kanji characters, the parse() method is returning U_INVALID_FORMAT_ERROR. Does anyone know if ICU supports Kanji character strings in the NumberFormat::parse() method? I was hoping that since I'm setting the Locale to Japanese that it would be able to parse Kanji numeric values. Thanks! #include <iostream> #include <unicode/numfmt.h> using namespace std; int main(int argc, char **argv) { const Locale &jaLocale = Locale::getJapan(); UErrorCode status = U_ZERO_ERROR; NumberFormat *nf = NumberFormat::createInstance(jaLocale, status); UChar number[] = {0x4E94}; // Character for '5' in Japanese '?' UnicodeString numStr(number); Formattable formattable; nf->parse(numStr, formattable, status); if (U_FAILURE(status)) { cout << "error parsing as number: " << u_errorName(status) << endl; return(1); } cout << "long value: " << formattable.getLong() << endl; }

  • Debugging MinGW program with gdb on Windows, not terminating at assert failure

  • Unhandled Exception with c++ app on Visual Studio 2008 release build - occurs when returning from fu

    - by Rich
    Hi, I have a (rather large) application that I have written in C++ and until recently it has been running fine outside of visual studio from the release build. However, now, whenever I run it it says "Unhandled exception at 0x77cf205b in myprog.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x45000200.", and leads me to "crtexe.c" at line 582 ("mainret = main(argc, argv, envp);") if I attempt to debug it. Note that this problem never shows if I run my debug executable outside of visual studio, or if I run my debug or release build within visual studio. It only happens when running the release build outside of visual studio. I have been through and put plenty of printfs and a couple of while(1)s in it to see when it actually crashed, and found that the access violation occurs at exactly the point that the value is returned from the function (I'm returning a pointer to an object). I don't fully understand why I would get an access violation at the point it returns, and it doesn't seem to matter what I'm returning as it still occurs when I return 0. The point it started crashing was when I added a function which does a lot of reading from a file using ifstream. I am opening the stream every time I attempt to read a new file and close it when I finish reading it. If I keep attempting to run it, it will run once in about 20 tries. It seems a lot more reliable if I run it off my pen drive (it seems to crash the first 3 or 4 times then run fine after that - maybe it's due to its slower read speed). Thanks for your help, and if I've missed anything let me know.

  • string parsing to double fails in C++ (Xcode problem?)

    - by helixed
    Here's a fun one I've been trying to figure out. I have the following program: #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <sstream> using namespace std; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { string s("5"); istringstream stream(s); double theValue; stream >> theValue; cout << theValue << endl; cout << stream.fail(); } The output is: 0 1 I don't understand why this is failing. Could somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks, helixed EDIT: Okay, sorry to turn this into a double post, but this looks like a problem specific to Xcode. If I compile this in g++, the code works without a problem. Does anybody have an idea why this is happening in Xcode, and how I could possibly fix it? Thanks again, helixed

  • Instantiating class with custom allocator in shared memory

    - by recipriversexclusion
    I'm pulling my hair due to the following problem: I am following the example given in boost.interprocess documentation to instantiate a fixed-size ring buffer buffer class that I wrote in shared memory. The skeleton constructor for my class is: template<typename ItemType, class Allocator > SharedMemoryBuffer<ItemType, Allocator>::SharedMemoryBuffer( unsigned long capacity ){ m_capacity = capacity; // Create the buffer nodes. m_start_ptr = this->allocator->allocate(); // allocate first buffer node BufferNode* ptr = m_start_ptr; for( int i = 0 ; i < this->capacity()-1; i++ ) { BufferNode* p = this->allocator->allocate(); // allocate a buffer node } } My first question: Does this sort of allocation guarantee that the buffer nodes are allocated in contiguous memory locations, i.e. when I try to access the n'th node from address m_start_ptr + n*sizeof(BufferNode) in my Read() method would it work? If not, what's a better way to keep the nodes, creating a linked list? My test harness is the following: // Define an STL compatible allocator of ints that allocates from the managed_shared_memory. // This allocator will allow placing containers in the segment typedef allocator<int, managed_shared_memory::segment_manager> ShmemAllocator; //Alias a vector that uses the previous STL-like allocator so that allocates //its values from the segment typedef SharedMemoryBuffer<int, ShmemAllocator> MyBuf; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { shared_memory_object::remove("MySharedMemory"); //Create a new segment with given name and size managed_shared_memory segment(create_only, "MySharedMemory", 65536); //Initialize shared memory STL-compatible allocator const ShmemAllocator alloc_inst (segment.get_segment_manager()); //Construct a buffer named "MyBuffer" in shared memory with argument alloc_inst MyBuf *pBuf = segment.construct<MyBuf>("MyBuffer")(100, alloc_inst); } This gives me all kinds of compilation errors related to templates for the last statement. What am I doing wrong?

I blocking in the 'FindDevice'....i can't manage to enter in the while because the variable usbDevice is always = to 0....i have tested my code in a small mac program and it works... Thanks Here is my code : IOReturn ConfigureDevice(IOUSBDeviceInterface **dev) { UInt8 numConfig; IOReturn result; IOUSBConfigurationDescriptorPtr configDesc; //Get the number of configurations result = (*dev)->GetNumberOfConfigurations(dev, &numConfig); if (!numConfig) { return -1; } // Get the configuration descriptor result = (*dev)->GetConfigurationDescriptorPtr(dev, 0, &configDesc); if (result) { NSLog(@"Couldn't get configuration descriptior for index %d (err=%08x)\n", 0, result); return -1; } ifdef OSX_DEBUG NSLog(@"Number of Configurations: %d\n", numConfig); endif // Configure the device result = (*dev)->SetConfiguration(dev, configDesc->bConfigurationValue); if (result) { NSLog(@"Unable to set configuration to value %d (err=%08x)\n", 0, result); return -1; } return kIOReturnSuccess; } IOReturn FindInterfaces(IOUSBDeviceInterface *dev, IOUSBInterfaceInterface **itf) { IOReturn kr; IOUSBFindInterfaceRequest request; io_iterator_t iterator; io_service_t usbInterface; IOUSBInterfaceInterface **intf = NULL; IOCFPlugInInterface **plugInInterface = NULL; HRESULT res; SInt32 score; UInt8 intfClass; UInt8 intfSubClass; UInt8 intfNumEndpoints; int pipeRef; CFRunLoopSourceRef runLoopSource; NSLog(@"Debut FindInterfaces \n"); request.bInterfaceClass = kIOUSBFindInterfaceDontCare; request.bInterfaceSubClass = kIOUSBFindInterfaceDontCare; request.bInterfaceProtocol = kIOUSBFindInterfaceDontCare; request.bAlternateSetting = kIOUSBFindInterfaceDontCare; kr = (*dev)->CreateInterfaceIterator(dev, &request, &iterator); usbInterface = IOIteratorNext(iterator); IOObjectRelease(iterator); NSLog(@"Interface found.\n"); kr = IOCreatePlugInInterfaceForService(usbInterface, kIOUSBInterfaceUserClientTypeID, kIOCFPlugInInterfaceID, &plugInInterface, &score); kr = IOObjectRelease(usbInterface); // done with the usbInterface object now that I have the plugin if ((kIOReturnSuccess != kr) || !plugInInterface) { NSLog(@"unable to create a plugin (%08x)\n", kr); return -1; } // I have the interface plugin. • Visual Studio expression containing a term named "by" cannot be evaluated in the watch window

    - by Andrei Pana
    Consider my C++ code below: int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { int by = 10; printf("%d\n", by); int bx = 20; printf("%d\n", (by + bx)); return 0; } which works fine. The funny thing is with the "by" variable. If I try to add a watch for a simple expression that contains by, the result will be CXX0030: Error: expression cannot be evaluated. For example, on a breakpoint on return 0, if I add the following watches I get the results mentioned: by : 10 bx : 20 by + 5 : CXX0030: Error: expression cannot be evaluated bx + 5 : 25 by + bx : CXX0030: Error: expression cannot be evaluated (by) + bx : 30 by + (bx) : CXX0030: Error: expression cannot be evaluated bx + (by) : CXX0014: Error: missing operrand This happens on VS2010, VS2008 on multiple computers. So, more out of curiosity, what is happening with "by"? Is it some kind of strange operator? Why doesn't bx get the same treatment? (I've tried google on this but it is quite difficult to get some relevant hits with terms like "by")
