• How to normalize SVG path data (cross browser)?

  I have tried to find a way to implement cross browser path normalizer. There IS a native way which is described here and functional example is here, but it works only in newest Opera (but not in IE, FF, Safari, Chrome). The native way uses pathElm.normalizedPathSegList and it converts all relative coordinates to absolute ones and represents all path segment types as a following subset of types: M,L,C,z. I have found only one javascript code and jsfiddled functional example of it, but it works only in IE and FF. Chrome gives "Uncaught Error: INDEX_SIZE_ERR: DOM Exception 1". How this could be fixed to work also in Opera, Safari and Chrome or is there any other way for normalizing SVG paths?

• why click on the button is not working on IE?

  Hi guys, I'm just preparing the release of a library site builded in asp.net: http://213.133.103.5/gramma_prod/Site/Index.aspx All it's working great on FF and Chrome but on IE the asp button click event is not working. Please notice the most important buttons: "Adauga in cos" (Add to basket)... I'm just struggling to find out the problem... I've checked the forms to not have nested ones but they seems ok. Could you provide any other ideea? ps: I did not post any code because this problem occurs on all pages... Thanks in advance. • centering image vertically in all resolutions

  I need to be able to center the image vertically for all the common resolutions. A lot of ppl here on SO have already asked this question before, and 90% of then give this tutorial http://www.jakpsatweb.cz/css/css-vertical-center-solution.html as an answer. However, when viewed at my 1280 by 1024 res monitor in FF, it's not centered. And worse yet, it breaks horribly in IE7. So, it's definitely NOT the answer. Am I chasing the impossible dream? The solution has to work for FF and IE 6/7 the solution can be anything that would work, though being a bit of a purist, I would prefer a div over table:)

• Finding a integer number after a beginning t=

  I have a string like this: 33 00 4b 46 ff ff 03 10 30 t=25562 I am only interested in the five digits at the very end after the t= How can I get this numbers with a regular expression out of it? I tried grep t=..... but I also got all characters including the t= in the beginning, which I would like to drop? After finding that five digit number, I would like to divide this by 1000. So in the above mentioned case the number 25.562. Is this possible with grep and regular expressions? Thanks for your help.

I have two NICs: one ONBOARD, the other additional on PCI. both of them are Broadcom netXtreme 5572. on the first boot of the system, I could see both cards as eth0 and eth1 (with ifconfig) I configured eth0 as static IP (as planned), and did not configure eth1. after rebooting, one of the two NICs "disappeared": it does not appear in ifconfig at all. the one that disappeared is the ONBOARD one. • Wireless acting weird ubuntu 12.04 LTS

  I'm kinda new here, so please bear with me. My wireless driver is acting very weird. It shows my router's name, but when it is connecting (after entering the correct password), the icon on the tray is like, refreshing every once in a second, while showing the animation that it is connecting. And after a few seconds, error message come up saying that wireless network is disconnected. I installed the drive through "additional drivers". What info do you need? • Wireless Broadcom 4313 not working on Ubuntu 12.04

  It seems a lot of people are having this problem, but none of the posted solutions have worked for me so far. My driver is installed and activated, I have tried removing and re-adding the network, and various other fixes. No networks were picked up on my first boot, the next day wireless worked fine, and since then it does not detect networks, and when I manually try to connect, it repeatedly asks for the password and does not connect. • Minecraft running slow after 13.10 upgrade

  What to took for when Minecraft is running slow (~10 FPS) after a simple Ubuntu upgrade (from 13.04 to 13.10) without any manual change in the hardware/software graphic configuration and in the Minecraft configuration?   I am creating a "hand made" HTTP 1/0, 1/1 server. I recently integrated zip lib so now I can stream encoded gziped data in and out. I wonder Which major browsers (alive ones - IE6-IE10, Chrome, FF, etc) send Accept-Encoding: deflate, gzip, ... and so can handle Content-Encoding: gzip today? Which of them send any quality expectations? Which of them can send encoded gziped post request and multypart/form data to my server?

• rr.com appended to URL and I don't know why

  I've been having some pretty bad and intermittent internet connectivity issues. I keep getting timeouts on my browsers, or what appears to be timeouts on my browsers. In Chrome it's generally error 21. FF it times out. And so on. While this is happening, I can go into the command line and ping or traceroute the same domain and it works fine. I use my cellphone on the same network and it's fine connecting to the same domain. And when it fails, it's all domains that are down in all browsers, chrome, FF, etc. I also noticed that when I try to connect to 192.168.1.1 it says in chrome did you mean www.192.168.1.1rr.com but when I enter https://192.168.1.1 it's fine. It only seems to do this in Chrome. This is making me think I have a virus. I did some researching about something called road runner, but I can't find any related traces. I also ran a full virus scan using nod32 (eset) and nothing. Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated. The intermittent loss of total internet access is really annoying and I'm worried about why it's trying to append the rr.com domain in Chrome. I suspect I'm dealing with two different issues, but you never know. Also for the DNS I'm using Google's DNS servers, the famous 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4

• HTTP Upload Problems

  We are running a marketplace on ColdFusion8 and IIS with a widely geographically distributed user base and have been receiving complaints of issues with some HTTP uploads. Most of the complaints are coming from geographically distant locations from our main datacenter on the US east coast. I've attempted to upload the same 70MB file from a US West coast test server to both our main site and a backup running the same code on a different network route and I saw the same issues fairly consistently in both places, so I've ruled out the code, route, and internal network errors. I've also tested uploads using both the native cf upload tag and a third party tool called SaFileUp. I saw the same issues with both upload tools, so I also don't think this is necessarily a ColdFusion problem. I don't have any problems uploading the test file from the East coast to other east coast servers, so I'm beginning to think that the distance between our users and our equipment is a factor. I've also found that smaller files are more likely to succeed than large ones (< 10MB) I tried the test upload with both IE and FF and did notice a difference in the way that the browsers seemed to handle packet errors. IE seemed to have a tough time continuing an upload after dropped / bad packets, whereas FF seemed to have the ability to gracefully resume an upload after experiencing packet problems. Has anyone experienced similar issues? Is there anything we can do on our side to make uploads more forgiving to packet loss or resumable after an error? A different upload tool etc… Do we need upload servers in more than one location to shorten the network routes between clients and servers? Does anyone think that switching uploads to SSL will help (no layer7 packet sniffing may lead to a smoother upload). Thanks.

• Swapping Function (Fn) and Control (Ctrl) Keys on Lenovo ThinkPad W500

  I'd like to swap the Fn and Ctrl keys on my ThinkPad W500 (like many others! See: How can I switch the function and control keys on my laptop? and Intercepting the Fn key on laptops) Numerous folks indicate that Windows doesn't register the Fn key as a keypress but using Mihov ASCII Master 2.0, that gives the ASCII value of a keypress, I see the Fn key returning FF (perhaps FF in this case means 'not registered'). I also see that keys like Ctrl register with one ASCII code when pressed alone and another when pressed in combo with another key. Fn will only register when pressed alone, so Windows definitely isn't seeing the combo. This took a solution like AutoHotKey off the table. I ran KeyTweak (which shows you the hardware scan codes of a keypress and the Fn key registerd as 57443). Using this program I remapped Fn to the Ctrl key; this worked perfectly. However, I suspect that because of the issue in #1, the combo of, for example, Fn + C did not execute a copy. Short of retraining my pinky I'm actually considering removing the keyboard and resoldering the connections to swap those keys. I'd love to get some input as to the root technical issue(s) and possible solutions here.

• Two parts: linux startup script to connect to bluetooth and cron to keep it connected

  I have a mini bluetooth keyboard and a Raspberry Pi running a Debian-based distro. I know the MAC address of the keyboard but for this question, let's just use AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF. Right now I have to have a wired keyboard connected as well as my bluetooth dongle for the mini-keyboard and on the wired keyboard, I have to run the following when the device boots up: sudo hidd --connect AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF If the device goes idle for too long, then the bluetooth disconnects and I have to pull out my wired keyboard and retype that same command. What I'm looking for it a way to have that command run at startup and a way to sense if it gets disconnected so that it will auto reconnect. The annoying thing is that they keyboard has to be in pairing mode (even though it has already been paired) when I run that command, otherwise it tells me the host is down. So perhaps the script needs to prevent it from disconnecting due to inactivity, otherwise I'll have to put it back in pairing mode to reconnect. So to recap: - A script to connect at startup (I can make sure to put the keyboard into pairing mode before turning it on) - A script to prevent it from disconnecting (maybe some sort of signal to send to it every 60 seconds or something?) Any help with this is greatly appreciated! StackOverflow is always the best place to find answers to weird questions! I've been searching long and hard for an answer, but finally had to resort to coming here! Thanks!

• Add files/folders/Apps to a new User Account

  I have created a new user acct. for my roommate. I/we don't really care much for IE, and I'd like to add Google Chrome, and FF for her, to let her choose her own browser. Plus I'd like to add some other apps for her, and transfer some of her personal info that she's been storing on my administrative acct. (i.e. personal photos and such). So, like I said the account is set up. But when I go to use Chrome, it won't open. It, along with other apps are listed in the list of "approved" applications under the parental control list. (Application Restrictions List) But they either don't show up when searched for,( in her acct.) or won't open and operate. One other example is Faststone Capture. And then, I've got one application, Yahoo, "Unchecked", and yet there it is in her account, AND IT WORKS! I do not get it. The purpose to setting up an account for her was to only restrict that she couldn't delete, or uninstall anything on the computer. I don't care, (obviously within reason) what she installs, but NO TAKING AWAY! lol Here is a screen shot of the restrictions list: So, here I sit, wondering what I did wrong, or forgot to do in order for these to work. I don't care if Yahoo works or not. But her photos being transferred, Chrome/FF working, and Faststone Capture working, are a priority for me. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate any advice.   I installed Coldfusion 8 trial version on my system (XP Professional sp3). I created an Folder in the “C:/Coldfusion8/wwwroot” called “buildProject” containing an Index.cfm and some other .cfm files. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. • I cleared the browsing “History” from both IE and FF. • I have restarted the CF server in the Control Panel Administrative Tools Services • Even restarted the IIS Getting the same error. Further I was trying to access IE/FF via CFbuilder But still I am getting the error “The connection was refused when attempting to contact [URL].” My inetpub is in the D rive where as CF8 is in C drive Also when i check IIS-5 Control Panel Admin tools Services I do not find the Localhost under web sites or FTP sites. Kindly help me with a fix.

• Big and reaaaally strange problem with a web server (host InMotion Hosting)

  Hi. I have a terrible problem that I have tried to solve since three days ago: I browse my own web site and after a while I cannot access the web site. AT ALL! I can only see a 501 error message: "Method Not Implemented. GET to / not supported. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request." Once I get that error the site is totally and permanently inaccessible in that browser!! Reboot, browser restarts, clear cache, clear all history and cookies, etc., are not working. I have reproduced it in 4 different computers. Three computers are in one city, the 4th is in another city. Two different ISP's also. One computer is Linux, the others are on Windows (XP and 2000). Browsers are FF 3 to FF3.5 and IE 8. The error is ALMOST reproducible on demand (for me at least). It appears when I browse the forum under certain circumstances. I don't know which are these circumstances, but if I browse it long enough (10 sec to 5 minutes) it eventually appears. Just to make it clear, once the error appears (while browsing the forum) then the whole web site become inaccessible, not only the forum! My host is not willing to help because they say they cannot reproduce the error. I sent screenoshots but they don't care. NEWS Reseting browser's settings from the 'Tools-Clear private data' din't worked. However! When I have cleared the same settings (more exaclty) cookies from the special menu that appears when you right click website's icon, it worked. So it was something related to a cookie BUT it manifests in all browsers (FF, IE, Opera). So it cannot be a browser related problem.

• Applications are being opened by IE instead of running normally

  I rewrote the Question to add everything that i tried so far. Many of my applications are being opened by Internet Explorer. (not all) For example when I run Firefox.exe (from shortcut) I get IE run instead, with the following URL http: // %22d/ Browser/firefox.exe%22 (I added spaces to prevent link creation) the shortcut target is: "D:\Browser\firefox.exe" when I attempted to open firefox.exe from it's folder the results were the same as the previous one I attempted to open it by cmd, so i navigated with cmd to the FF path then wrote: firefox.exe the was the same except that the URL was: http: // Firefox.exe/ when i jsut write firefox the result URL was: http: // Firefox/ (is it some kind of parameter or something??) trying the same with chrome resulted the same results as the previous tests. I tried creating a new user (adminstartor) but the problem still there. I tried every registry key with exe on it (not sure if i tried them all) no change I tried removing IE but came back by itself somehow, meanwhile IE is removed, FF and its fellow apps gave me open with window I tried reinstalling the applications but it just no use. Time Line: (as requested from @Daredev) I don't know when it happened because the computer is for the company i work for and it was like that since i got it. (The IT there gave up on the problem lon time ago!). applications were installed already are "firefox" and "XPS viewer" . applications were working after the problem everything except what uses browsing (MS help viewer, XPS viewer, firefox-even I've re installed it-, opera, chrome) that what I thought but after installing Maxthon , comodoDragon this theory was blown away. system info: 1- windows xp professional service pack 3 2- system fully patched: Yes 3- anti-virus up to date: Yes 4- same behavior when booting into safe mode: Yes
