    Guys, in one of the excersises in TC++PL B.S. asks to: "Write a function that either returns a value or that throws that value based on an argument. Measure the difference in run-time between the two ways." Great pity he never explaines how to measure such things. I'm not sure if I'm suppose to write simple "time start, time end" counter or maybe there are more effective and practical ways to do it? Thanks in advance.

  • Changing UI color in Eclipse

    I'm aware of this topic: I've used it to change most of the editor colors, and that's great. But that wasn't enought, there's still too much white (and I need to change it because it hurts my eyes). I've searched in the preferences (both using Eclipse itself and editing the files) for instances of while (255,255,255) and changed them all. I want to create a windows batch file to do following: Perform a looped search for each line item of a text file (this is a list of keyword) to locate files in a a specific directory For this search partial match is okay. Each time a file is found, move it to a predefined directory (e.g. C:\temp\search_results) Thanks.

Do I need to pass pointers, references, or non-pointer and non-reference values? I remember in Java there are no such issues since we pass just the variable that holds reference to the objects.     I am using Xinha editor with Jquery 1.4.2 and cannot use the UI components in IE 8. Other browsers work great! include the following scripts: jstree also throws a 'data not included' exception (which stumps me since it works without including the xinha library) Is there a way to find the conflict with Xinha and either work-around or resolve it for IE 8 using 1.4.2 jquery thanks please let me know if you need more info.

My goal is to find ways of presenting Scala to another person, friend, co-worker (not an audience) that will make them want to use this great language.

    Hi everyone, I've playing around with linux and noticed that for some mysterious reason commands like '/bin/sh ' just will not work. Each time I'm trying to start a process it yields 'cannot execute binary file' error message. m@sanctuary:~$ sh sed /bin/sed: /bin/sed: cannot execute binary file When I first launch sh and try to execute sed, it succeeds. I'm starting to loose my wits. It would be just great, if somebody could help me. Thank you.

Then you remember http://super.duper.domain.example Oh. So then you think, okay, find the last period, go back a word and get everything before! Then you remember http://super.duper.domain.co.uk And you're back to square one. Anyone have any great ideas besides storing a list of all TLDs? John

  • Include pdbs in installer?

    Is there any reason to not include pdb files in an installer? I have C++ logging functionality that walks the stack, and reports line numbers and file names. It would be great if my customers could send me logs with this information. However, they would need the pdb files. Is there any downside (other than installer package size) to deploying them?
