• Gmail Notifier add-on stopped working [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: FireFox Gmail Notifier Plugin? Any body else have this problem? For the last 2-3 days it's not been working. I thought it might have been caused by another add-on, either a new one or updated one, so I disabled each one individually till I did them all. No luck. Haven't made any other changes to my system, Windows XP SP3.

• Excel 2007 charts disappearing

  I have an Excel 2007 file with macros and VB (.xlsm) and one of the worksheets has charts. When I open the file those charts are shown. However when I CTRL+Scroll to zoom in the charts vanish.   I am currently using sccm 2007 for our software deployment and PXE. During this summer I have been tasked with upgrading 2000+ machines from Windows XP to Windows 7. My plan is to use sccm to advertise the Windows 7 task sequence to the machines. However my question is, what is the best way to automate the deployment? Can I make SCCM turn a machine on and make it run an advertised task sequence without having to be in the same room as the machines?

  Is there any possibility to change default wait for ACK timeout in TCP network on Windows 7 or Windows Server ? I'm using very slow network ( 1200 bps ) and want to tweak TCP. When using default parameters network stuck on multiple retransmissions . If I'm able to change the ACK timeout and tx window size I think that it would work. • Windows Server not installing audio drivers properly

  I am trying to install a dummy sound card on a Windows Server machine (in Amazon EC2 cloud) in order for one of my application to work. I'm trying to accomplish that with Virtual Audio Cable and REAUDIO3. Both tools managed to install a new device on my Windows XP machine, but on Windows Server, no new devices appear. Windows Audio and Plug and Play services are Started and Automatic. ANY ideas are greatly appreciated.

  When I run the installer for both taglocity 2 and 3, during the installation I get the following error: Error 1001: Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorException: Configuration system failed to initalize. When I try to continue with the installation by clicking OK, a dialog appears with the title ADX Loader with the message: The system cannot find the file specified. Clicking OK causes the installation to roll back. I’m using Outlook 2007 on Windows XP.

  I have a dual monitor setup, and I recently played around with the positioning settings, and some of my single window applications do the favour of preserving where they were last closed, and opening in the same position later. Unfortuanately, that now places them out of the viewable area of my screens! Is there some way to force a particular window into the viewable area? If it matters at all, this is on Windows XP 32b.

  I you copy/paste some files into a directory that already contains files with the same name you'll get a confirmation dialog "There is already a file with the same name in this location..." To replace all files you have to check "Do this for the next N conflicts" and then click on "Copy and Replace". Is there a keyboard shortcut for this (like there was in XP where you could simply press 'a')?

• Ubuntu 9.10 as VMWare guest OS, X won't start

  I have Ubuntu 9.10 installed on it's own partition. Once in a while I would like to start it as a guest OS under Windows XP. While it starts and working fine, I can't login with gdm, after I enter login and password, X crashes and I'm at login prompt again. I can login with console just fine. Is there anything I can do prevent X from crashing?

  I am looking for a (Windows XP) utility (preferably a standalone app) that can let me set a hotkey to adjust the gamma (and hopefully other color settings) of the overlay surface. ATI Tray Tools does not have the ability to bind the overlay color adjustments to the overlay. I’ve asked him about it and he said it was difficult to implement or something (he was kind of vague). The ATI Catalyst drivers do not have a hotkey function for the overlay tab either. Can anyone help?

  I have a Windows XP machine that locks itself after an unknown amount of time. I have disabled the screen saver completely, and unchecked "lock computer when coming out of standby". I've even overrode the settings with gpedit. Even still, it locks itself after a while, and it doesn't take long. If it's any sort of hint, the time period for the screensaver is greyed out, even if I choose an actual screensaver.

Windows Search 4.0 (installed on Windows XP) can index removable drives, but Windows 7 (which uses Windows Search 4.0) cannot because the USB device identifies itself as a "Removable" drive and Windows 7 refuses to index removable drives.   When my new Dell laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium and 4GB RAM sleeps (not when it hibernates), it will drain the battery overnight. My old Dell laptop with XP Pro (2 GB RAM) could sleep for days without running out of battery. Is it normal that Windows 7 sleep is this power-hungry or should I troubleshoot my new machine? Edit: I know how to set the different sleep/hibernate settings. That is not what I'm asking.

• For how long should I expect my hardware to work?

  I got this old box with windows xp home. It works perfectly, except the occasional blue-screen when shutting down the machine. How long should I expect this, or any, machine to work, when will the hardware start failing and should I worry about silly things like upgrading the os? What is the TTL on HW you purchase today?
