  • jQuery image crossfader problem

    - by Dr Casper Black
    Hey!, I have a image switcher fadein/out (it will crossfade iamges - auto(1 - x) ) and a pager but i cant manage to make the image rotation listen the click action on pager, when clicked on pager the image will NOT jup tu the specific img. The problem is in the rotate function the triggerID will hold the "rel" num of the current pager-element which is the equivalent to the image "list" num, so when clicked on the pager, the triggerID will show the rel number that was clicked... can i use that to display the image Here is the code for JQ: $(".paging a:first").addClass("active"); //Rotation rotate = function(){ var triggerID = $active.attr("rel"); //Get number of times to images $(".paging a").removeClass('active'); //Remove all active class $active.addClass('active'); //Add active class (the $active is declared in the rotateSwitch function) //CrossFade Animation var $activeImg = $('.image_reel img.active'); if ( $activeImg.length == 0 ) $activeImg = $('.image_reel img:last'); var $next = $activeImg.next().length ? $activeImg.next() : $('.image_reel img:first'); $activeImg.addClass('last-active'); $next.css({opacity: 0.0}) .addClass('active') .animate({opacity: 1.0}, 500, function() { $activeImg.removeClass('active last-active'); }); }; //Rotation and Timing Event rotateSwitch = function(){ play = setInterval(function(){ //Set timer - this will repeat itself every 3 seconds $active = $('.paging a.active').next(); //Move to the next paging if ( $active.length === 0) { //If paging reaches the end... $active = $('.paging a:first'); //go back to first } rotate(); //Trigger the paging and slider function }, 3000); //Timer speed in milliseconds (3 seconds) }; rotateSwitch(); //Run function on launch //On Click $(".paging a").click(function() { $active = $(this); //Activate the clicked paging //Reset Timer clearInterval(play); //Stop the rotation rotate(); //Trigger rotation immediately rotateSwitch(); // Resume rotation timer return false; //Prevent browser jump to link anchor }); The HTML code: <div class="image_reel"> <img src="images/slideshow/img1.jpg" alt="image 1" class="active"> <img src="images/slideshow/img2.jpg" alt="image 2"> <img src="images/slideshow/img3.jpg" alt="image 3"> <img src="images/slideshow/img4.jpg" alt="image 4"> </div> <div class="paging"> <a href="#" rel="1" title="image 1">&nbsp;</a> <a href="#" rel="2" title="image 2">&nbsp;</a> <a href="#" rel="3" title="image 3">&nbsp;</a> <a href="#" rel="4" title="image 4">&nbsp;</a> </div> plz help.

  • Sidebar with CSS3 transform

    - by Malcoda
    Goal I'm working on a collapsible sidebar using jQuery for animation. I would like to have vertical text on the sidebar that acts as a label and can swap on the animateOut/animateIn effect. Normally I would use an image of the text that I've simply swapped vertically, and switch it out on animation, but with CSS3 transforms I'd like to get it to work instead. Problem The problem I'm facing is that setting the height on my rotated container makes it expand horizontally (as it's rotated 90deg) so that doesn't work. I then tried to set the width (hoping it would expand vertically, acting as height), but that has an odd effect of causing the width of my parent container to expand as well. Fix? Anyone know why this happens and also what the fix/workaround could be without setting max-widths and overflow: hidden? I've got a fairly good understanding of both html elements behavior and css3, but this is stumping me. Live Example Here's a fiddle that demonstrates my problem: Fiddle The collapse-pane class is what I have rotated and contains the span I have my text inside. You'll notice it has a width set, that widens the border, but also affects the parent container. The code: CSS: .right-panel{ position:fixed; right:0; top:0; bottom:0; border:1px solid #ccc; background-color:#efefef; } .collapse-pane{ margin-top:50px; width:30px; border:1px solid #999; cursor:pointer; /* Safari */ -webkit-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* Firefox */ -moz-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* IE */ -ms-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* Opera */ -o-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* Internet Explorer */ filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.BasicImage(rotation=3); } .collapse-pane span{ padding:5px; } HTML <div class="right-panel"> <div class="collapse-pane"> <span class="expand">Expand</span> </div> <div style="width:0;" class="panel-body"> <div style="display:none;" class="panel-body-inner"> adsfasdfasdf </div> </div> </div> JavaScript (Thought not really relevant) $(document).ready(function(){ var height = $(".right-panel").height(); $(".collapse-pane").css({marginTop: height/2 - 20}); $('.collapse-pane').click(function(){ if($(".collapse-pane span").html() == "Expand"){ $(".panel-body").animate({width:200}, 400); $(".panel-body-inner").fadeIn(500); $(".collapse-pane span").html("Collapse"); }else{ $(".panel-body").animate({width:00}, 400); $(".panel-body-inner").fadeOut(300); $(".collapse-pane span").html("Expand"); } }); }); I hope this was clear... Thanks for any help!

  • Add collison detection to enemy sprites?

    - by xBroak
    i'd like to add the same collision detection used by the player sprite to the enemy sprites or 'creeps' ive added all the relevant code I can see yet collisons are still not being detected and handled, please find below the class, I have no idea what is wrong currently, the list of walls to collide with is 'wall_list' import pygame import pauseScreen as dm import re from pygame.sprite import Sprite from pygame import Rect, Color from random import randint, choice from vec2d import vec2d from simpleanimation import SimpleAnimation import displattxt black = (0,0,0) white = (255,255,255) blue = (0,0,255) green = (101,194,151) global currentEditTool currentEditTool = "Tree" global editMap editMap = False open('MapMaker.txt', 'w').close() def draw_background(screen, tile_img): screen.fill(black) img_rect = tile_img.get_rect() global rect rect = img_rect nrows = int(screen.get_height() / img_rect.height) + 1 ncols = int(screen.get_width() / img_rect.width) + 1 for y in range(nrows): for x in range(ncols): img_rect.topleft = (x * img_rect.width, y * img_rect.height) screen.blit(tile_img, img_rect) def changeTool(): if currentEditTool == "Tree": None elif currentEditTool == "Rock": None def pauseGame(): red = 255, 0, 0 green = 0,255, 0 blue = 0, 0,255 screen.fill(black) pygame.display.update() if editMap == False: choose = dm.dumbmenu(screen, [ 'Resume', 'Enable Map Editor', 'Quit Game'], 64,64,None,32,1.4,green,red) if choose == 0: print("hi") elif choose ==1: global editMap editMap = True elif choose ==2: print("bob") elif choose ==3: print("bob") elif choose ==4: print("bob") else: None else: choose = dm.dumbmenu(screen, [ 'Resume', 'Disable Map Editor', 'Quit Game'], 64,64,None,32,1.4,green,red) if choose == 0: print("Resume") elif choose ==1: print("Dis ME") global editMap editMap = False elif choose ==2: print("bob") elif choose ==3: print("bob") elif choose ==4: print("bob") else: None class Wall(pygame.sprite.Sprite): # Constructor function def __init__(self,x,y,width,height): pygame.sprite.Sprite.__init__(self) self.image = pygame.Surface([width, height]) self.image.fill(green) self.rect = self.image.get_rect() self.rect.y = y self.rect.x = x class insertTree(pygame.sprite.Sprite): def __init__(self,x,y,width,height, typ): pygame.sprite.Sprite.__init__(self) self.image = pygame.image.load("images/map/tree.png").convert() self.image.set_colorkey(white) self.rect = self.image.get_rect() self.rect.y = y self.rect.x = x class insertRock(pygame.sprite.Sprite): def __init__(self,x,y,width,height, typ): pygame.sprite.Sprite.__init__(self) self.image = pygame.image.load("images/map/rock.png").convert() self.image.set_colorkey(white) self.rect = self.image.get_rect() self.rect.y = y self.rect.x = x class Creep(pygame.sprite.Sprite): """ A creep sprite that bounces off walls and changes its direction from time to time.   • Libgdx - 2D Mesh rendering overlap glitch

    - by user46858
    I am trying to render a 2D circle segment mesh (quarter circle)using Libgdx/Opengl ES 2.0 but I seem to be getting an overlapping issue as seen in the picture attached. I cant seem to find the cause of the problem but the overlapping disappears/reappears if I drag and resize the window to random sizes. The problem occurs on both pc and android. The strange thing is the first two segments atleast dont seem to be causing any overlapping only the third and/or forth segment.......even though they are all rendered using the same mesh object..... I have spent ages trying to find the cause of the problem before posting here for help so ANY help/advice in finding the cause of this problem would be really appreciated. public class MyGdxGame extends Game { private SpriteBatch batch; • Vehicle: Boat accelerating and turning in Unity

    - by Emilios S.
    I'm trying to make a player-controllable boat in Unity and I'm running into problems with my code. 1) I want to make the boat to accelerate and decelerate steadily instead of simply moving the speed I'm telling it to right away. 2) I want to make the player unable to steer the boat unless it is moving. 3) If possible, I want to simulate the vertical floating of a boat during its movement (it going up and down) My current code (C#) is this: using UnityEngine; using System.Collections; public class VehicleScript : MonoBehaviour { public float speed=10; public float rotationspeed=50; // Use this for initialization // Update is called once per frame void Update () { // Forward movement if(Input.GetKey(KeyCode.I)) speed = transform.Translate (Vector3.left*speed*Time.deltaTime); // Backward movement if(Input.GetKey(KeyCode.K)) transform.Translate (Vector3.right*speed*Time.deltaTime); // Left movement if(Input.GetKey(KeyCode.J)) transform.Rotate (Vector3.down*rotationspeed*Time.deltaTime); // Right movement if(Input.GetKey(KeyCode.L)) transform.Rotate (Vector3.up*rotationspeed*Time.deltaTime); } } In the current state of my code, when I press the specified keys, the boat simply moves 10 units/sec instantly, and also stops instantly. I'm not really sure how to make the things stated above, so any help would be appreciated. Just to clarify, I don't necessarily need the full code to implement those features, I just want to know what functions to use in order to achieve the desired effects. Thank you very much.

  • Rotating object along bezier curve: not rotating enough?

    - by Paul
    I tried to follow the instructions from the threads on the forum (Cocos2d rotating sprite while moving with CCBezierBy) with Unity, in order to rotate my object as it moves along a bezier curve. But it does not rotate enough, the angle is too low, it goes up to 6 instead of 90 for example, as you can see on this image (the y eulerAngle is at 6, I would expect it to be around 90 with this curve) : Would you know why it does this? And how to make the rotation toward the next point? Here is the code (in c# with Unity) : (I am comparing x and z to get the angle, and adding the angle to eulerAngles.y so that it rotates around the y axis) void Update () { if ( Input.GetKey("d") ) start = true; if ( start ){ myTime = Time.time; start = false; } float theTime = (Time.time - myTime) *0.5f; if ( theTime < 1 ) { car.position = Spline.Interp( myArray, theTime );//creates the bezier curve counterBezier += Time.deltaTime; //compare 2 positions after 0.1f if ( counterBezier > 0.1f ){ counterBezier = 0; cbDone = false; newpos = car.position; float angle = Mathf.Atan2(newpos.z - oldpos.z, newpos.x - oldpos.x); angle += car.eulerAngles.y; car.eulerAngles = new Vector3(0,angle,0); } else if ( counterBezier > 0 && !cbDone ){ oldpos = car.position; cbDone = true; } Thanks

  • Move model forward base on model orientation

    - by ChocoMan
    My model rotates on it's own Y-axis regardless of where it is in the world. Here are the controls for the left ThumbStick: UP (move model forward on Z-Axis) DOWN (move model backward on Z-Axis) LEFT & RIGHT (strafe to either side) The problem is adjusting the direction the model's orientation UP and DOWN if the player should also rotate the player while moving forward or backwards. An example what Im trying to achieve would be a car doing donuts. The car is always facing the current direction that it interprets as forward (or rear as backwards) in relation to it's local rotation. Here is how Im calling the movement: // Rotate model with Right Thumbstick along X-Axis modelRotation -= pController.ThumbSticks.Right.X * mRotSpeed; // Move Forward if (pController.IsButtonDown(Buttons.LeftThumbstickUp)) { modelPosition.Z -= -pController.ThumbSticks.Left.Y * speed; } // Move Backward if (pController.IsButtonDown(Buttons.LeftThumbstickDown)) { modelPosition.Z += pController.ThumbSticks.Left.Y * speed; } // Strafe Left if (pController.IsButtonDown(Buttons.LeftThumbstickLeft)) { modelPosition.X += -pController.ThumbSticks.Left.X * speed; } // Strafe Right if (pController.IsButtonDown(Buttons.LeftThumbstickRight)) { modelPosition.X -= pController.ThumbSticks.Left.X * speed; } // DeadZone if (!pController.IsButtonDown(Buttons.LeftThumbstickUp) && !pController.IsButtonDown(Buttons.LeftThumbstickDown) && !pController.IsButtonDown(Buttons.LeftThumbstickLeft) && !pController.IsButtonDown(Buttons.LeftThumbstickRight)) { }

  • Missing z-axis rotation for transforming between two vectors

    - by Steve Baughman
    I'm trying to rotate a cube so that it's facing up, but am getting hung up on the final implementation details. It now reliably will rotate the x,y axis to the correct side, but the z-axis is never rotating (See photos of before and after rotation). When I'm using the code below I always get '0' for my rotationVector.z. What am I missing here? // Define lookAt vector lookAtVector = GLKVector3Make(0,0,1); // Define axes vectors axes[0] = GLKVector3Make(0,0,1); axes[1] = GLKVector3Make(-1,0,0); axes[2] = GLKVector3Make(0,1,0); axes[3] = GLKVector3Make(1,0,0); axes[4] = GLKVector3Make(0,-1,0); axes[5] = GLKVector3Make(0,0,-1); CGFloat highest_dot = -1.0; GLKVector3 closest_axis; for(int i = 0; i < 6; i++) { // multiply cube's axes by existing matrix GLKVector3 axis = GLKMatrix4MultiplyVector3(matrix, axes[i]); CGFloat dot = GLKVector3DotProduct(axis, lookAtVector); if(dot > highest_dot) { closest_axis = axis; highest_dot = dot; } } GLKVector3 rotationVector = GLKVector3CrossProduct(closest_axis, lookAtVector); // Get angle between vectors CGFloat angle = atan2(GLKVector3Length(rotationVector), GLKVector3DotProduct(closest_axis, lookAtVector)); // normalize the rotation vector rotationVector = GLKVector3Normalize(rotationVector); // Create transform CATransform3D rotationTransform = CATransform3DMakeRotation(angle, rotationVector.x, rotationVector.y, rotationVector.z); // add rotation transform to existing transformation baseTransform = CATransform3DConcat(baseTransform, rotationTransform); return baseTransform; Before 3d Rotation After 3d Rotation Implementation based on this post

  • Cocos2d/Cocos2d-x Attaching an arrow (sprite) to another body sprite (person)

    - by Satchmo Brown
    I am trying to set up a simple bow and arrow game. When the arrow hits the enemy body, the arrow's body is deleted and the arrow sprite continues to update, keeping the position correct in relation to the enemy it hit. Picture an arrow sticking into a body and that body still rotating and moving. My problem is that the rotation is completely wrong when the enemy rotates. I know how to do this in 3d with matrix transformation but I can't seem to figure it out in 2d with Cocos. Here is my method. I save offset at which the arrow hit the enemy. Every frame, I make the rotation of the sprite match the rotation of the enemy. Then, I apply the offset I took initially which is where the arrow hit the enemy. When they rotate, they rotate about their respective anchors and I am wondering if I need to set the anchor of the arrow to the center of the sprite. Does anyone know of an easy way to do this. If not, I will try to create an algorithm where the anchor is set to the offset divided by the width and height of the sprite image hopefully giving me the correct anchor values. Then I assume I need to reposition the sprite. Does anyone have a simpler way to do this?

  • Moving player in direciton camera is facing

    - by Samurai Fox
    I have a 3rd person camera which can rotate around the player. My problem is that wherever camera is facing, players forward is always the same direction. For example when camera is facing the right side of the player, when I press button to move forward, I want player to turn to the left and make that the "new forward". My camera script so far: using UnityEngine; using System.Collections; public class PlayerScript : MonoBehaviour { public float RotateSpeed = 150, MoveSpeed = 50; float DeltaTime; void Update() { DeltaTime = Time.deltaTime; transform.Rotate(0, Input.GetAxis("LeftX") * RotateSpeed * DeltaTime, 0); transform.Translate(0, 0, -Input.GetAxis("LeftY") * MoveSpeed * DeltaTime); } } public class CameraScript : MonoBehaviour { public GameObject Target; public float RotateSpeed = 170, FollowDistance = 20, FollowHeight = 10; float RotateSpeedPerTime, DesiredRotationAngle, DesiredHeight, CurrentRotationAngle, CurrentHeight, Yaw, Pitch; Quaternion CurrentRotation; void LateUpdate() { RotateSpeedPerTime = RotateSpeed * Time.deltaTime; DesiredRotationAngle = Target.transform.eulerAngles.y; DesiredHeight = Target.transform.position.y + FollowHeight; CurrentRotationAngle = transform.eulerAngles.y; CurrentHeight = transform.position.y; CurrentRotationAngle = Mathf.LerpAngle(CurrentRotationAngle, DesiredRotationAngle, 0); CurrentHeight = Mathf.Lerp(CurrentHeight, DesiredHeight, 0); CurrentRotation = Quaternion.Euler(0, CurrentRotationAngle, 0); transform.position = Target.transform.position; transform.position -= CurrentRotation * Vector3.forward * FollowDistance; transform.position = new Vector3(transform.position.x, CurrentHeight, transform.position.z); Yaw = Input.GetAxis("Right Horizontal") * RotateSpeedPerTime; Pitch = Input.GetAxis("Right Vertical") * RotateSpeedPerTime; transform.Translate(new Vector3(Yaw, -Pitch, 0)); transform.position = new Vector3(transform.position.x, transform.position.y, transform.position.z); transform.LookAt(Target.transform); } }

  • GLSL billboard move center of rotation

    - by Jacob Kofoed
    I have successfully set up a billboard shader that works, it can take in a quad and rotate it so it always points toward the screen. I am using this vertex-shader: void main(){ vec4 tmpPos = (MVP * bufferMatrix * vec4(0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0)) + (MV * vec4( vertexPosition.x * 1.0 * bufferMatrix[0][0], vertexPosition.y * 1.0 * bufferMatrix[1][1], vertexPosition.z * 1.0 * bufferMatrix[2][2], 0.0) ); UV = UVOffset + vertexUV * UVScale; gl_Position = tmpPos; BufferMatrix is the model-matrix, it is an attribute to support Instance-drawing. The problem is best explained through pictures: This is the start position of the camera: And this is the position, looking in from 45 degree to the right: Obviously, as each character is it's own quad, the shader rotates each one around their own center towards the camera. What I in fact want is for them to rotate around a shared center, how would I do this? What I have been trying to do this far is: mat4 translation = mat4(1.0); translation = glm::translate(translation, vec3(pos)*1.f * 2.f); translation = glm::scale(translation, vec3(scale, 1.f)); translation = glm::translate(translation, vec3(anchorPoint - pos) / vec3(scale, 1.f)); Where the translation is the bufferMatrix sent to the shader. What I am trying to do is offset the center, but this might not be possible with a single matrix..? I am interested in a solution that doesn't require CPU calculations each frame, but rather set it up once and then let the shader do the billboard rotation. I realize there's many different solutions, like merging all the quads together, but I would first like to know if the approach with offsetting the center is possible. If it all seems a bit confusing, it's because I'm a little confused myself.

  • VLC Ati Radeon 6870 Ubuntu 12.04 image skewed flicker

    - by Aaron
    I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 with ATI Radeon 6870 connected to my 40' Sharp TV. The video image is slightly jigged, like breaking a bit and slightly delayed. It just isn't smooth. The computer is very fast, like i7 with 12gb ram. I tried to run the same video with my mac laptop and on the tv with the same connection cable and it was running smoothly. i tried changing the video output in VLC to x11, increase caching, h264 skip loop filter to all, increase monitor refresh rate although it's already at 60 and it's an LCD tv. this is my xorg.conf : Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "amdcccle Layout" Screen 0 "amdcccle-Screen[3]-0" 0 0 EndSection Section "Module" Load "glx" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "0-DFP9" Option "VendorName" "ATI Proprietary Driver" Option "ModelName" "Generic Autodetecting Monitor" Option "DPMS" "true" Option "TargetRefresh" "60" Option "Position" "0 0" Option "Rotate" "normal" Option "Disable" "false" Option "PreferredMode" "1920x1080" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "0-DFP10" Option "VendorName" "ATI Proprietary Driver" Option "ModelName" "Generic Autodetecting Monitor" Option "DPMS" "true" Option "PreferredMode" "1280x1024" Option "TargetRefresh" "60" Option "Position" "0 0" Option "Rotate" "normal" Option "Disable" "false" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "amdcccle-Device[3]-0" Driver "fglrx" Option "Monitor-DFP9" "0-DFP9" BusID "PCI:3:0:0" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" DefaultDepth 24 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "amdcccle-Screen[3]-0" Device "amdcccle-Device[3]-0" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection

  • Directional and orientation problem

    - by Ahmed Saleh
    I have drawn 5 tentacles which are shown in red. I have drew those tentacles on a 2D Circle, and positioned them on 5 vertices of the that circle. BTW, The circle is never be drawn, I have used it to simplify the problem. Now I wanted to attached that circle with tentacles underneath the jellyfish. There is a problem with the current code but I don't know what is it. You can see that the circle is parallel to the base of the jelly fish. I want it to be shifted so that it be inside the jelly fish. but I don't know how. I tried to multiply the direction vector to extend it but that didn't work. // One tentacle is constructed from nodes // Get the direction of the first tentacle's node 0 to node 39 of that tentacle; Vec3f dir = m_tentacle[0]->geNodesPos()[0] - m_tentacle[0]->geNodesPos()[39]; // Draw the circle with tentacles on it Vec3f pos = m_SpherePos; drawCircle(pos,dir,30,m_tentacle.size()); for (int i=0; i<m_tentacle.size(); i++) { m_tentacle[i]->Draw(); } // Draw the jelly fish, and orient it on the 2D Circle gl::pushMatrices(); Quatf q; // assign quaternion to rotate the jelly fish around the tentacles q.set(Vec3f(0,-1,0),Vec3f(dir.x,dir.y,dir.z)); // tanslate it to the position of the whole creature per every frame gl::translate(m_SpherePos.x,m_SpherePos.y,m_SpherePos.z); gl::rotate(q); // draw the jelly fish at center 0,0,0 drawHemiSphere(Vec3f(0,0,0),m_iRadius,90); gl::popMatrices();

  • Quaternion LookAt for camera

    - by Homar
    I am using the following code to rotate entities to look at points. glm::vec3 forwardVector = glm::normalize(point - position); float dot = glm::dot(glm::vec3(0.0f, 0.0f, 1.0f), forwardVector); float rotationAngle = (float)acos(dot); glm::vec3 rotationAxis = glm::normalize(glm::cross(glm::vec3(0.0f, 0.0f, 1.0f), forwardVector)); rotation = glm::normalize(glm::quat(rotationAxis * rotationAngle)); This works fine for my usual entities. However, when I use this on my Camera entity, I get a black screen. If I flip the subtraction in the first line, so that I take the forward vector to be the direction from the point to my camera's position, then my camera works but naturally my entities rotate to look in the opposite direction of the point. I compute the transformation matrix for the camera and then take the inverse to be the View Matrix, which I pass to my OpenGL shaders: glm::mat4 viewMatrix = glm::inverse( cameraTransform->GetTransformationMatrix() ); The orthographic projection matrix is created using glm::ortho. What's going wrong?

  • Jittery Movement, Uncontrollably Rotating + Front of Sprite?

    - by Vipar
    So I've been looking around to try and figure out how I make my sprite face my mouse. So far the sprite moves to where my mouse is by some vector math. Now I'd like it to rotate and face the mouse as it moves. From what I've found this calculation seems to be what keeps reappearing: Sprite Rotation = Atan2(Direction Vectors Y Position, Direction Vectors X Position) I express it like so: sp.Rotation = (float)Math.Atan2(directionV.Y, directionV.X); If I just go with the above, the sprite seems to jitter left and right ever so slightly but never rotate out of that position. Seeing as Atan2 returns the rotation in radians I found another piece of calculation to add to the above which turns it into degrees: sp.Rotation = (float)Math.Atan2(directionV.Y, directionV.X) * 180 / PI; Now the sprite rotates. Problem is that it spins uncontrollably the closer it comes to the mouse. One of the problems with the above calculation is that it assumes that +y goes up rather than down on the screen. As I recorded in these two videos, the first part is the slightly jittery movement (A lot more visible when not recording) and then with the added rotation: Jittery Movement So my questions are: How do I fix that weird Jittery movement when the sprite stands still? Some have suggested to make some kind of "snap" where I set the position of the sprite directly to the mouse position when it's really close. But no matter what I do the snapping is noticeable. How do I make the sprite stop spinning uncontrollably? Is it possible to simply define the front of the sprite and use that to make it "face" the right way?

  • ATI Radeon 5800 series dual monitor unity not 3D accelerated

    - by Victor S
    When I had a single monitor setup, without Xinerama, with my current setup of Ubuntu 11.10, ATI 5800 series card, Unity showed transparencies, shadows, etc. (although graphics was reported as 'Standard' in the control/settings panel). Having switched to a dual monitor setup, dell 24" UltraSharp and a smaller Acer monitor, Unity shows only as 2d, even though I'm not loggin in to that display manager. WebGL performance is very sluggish, I'm getting the impression that the processor is doing all the work and the card isn't even accessible even though the drivers are installed (from the ubuntu repository, I did not compile custom drivers). Any tips on how to enable full 3D accelerationn and video card support. • ATI Radeon HD with Catalyst driver stuck mirroring screens

    - by Mike Axiak
    In 11.10 I replaced my aging Nvidia card with a new Radeon HD 6970 card. The single card has two DVI output ports which I've connected to two monitors. I installed Catalyst version 11.9 and I cannot get multiple monitors set up the way I want. I tried: $ sudo amdcccle and setting the mode to single desktop multiple monitors and whenever I do that Unity crashes and I get back to the login screen. Nothing shows up in the Xorg.*.log files for me to post here. There's only one card so I don't think xinerama would be any help here. Anyone have any ideas? • How to shift a vector based on the rotation of another vector?

    - by bpierre
    I’m learning 2D programming, so excuse my approximations, and please, don’t hesitate to correct me. I am just trying to fire a bullet from a player. I’m using HTML canvas (top left origin). Here is a representation of my problem: The black vector represent the position of the player (the grey square). The green vector represent its direction. The red disc represents the target. The red vector represents the direction of a bullet, which will move in the direction of the target (red and dotted line). The blue cross represents the point from where I really want to fire the bullet (and the blue and dotted line represents its movement). This is how I draw the player (this is the player object. Position, direction and dimensions are 2D vectors): ctx.save(); ctx.translate(this.position.x, this.position.y); ctx.rotate(this.direction.getAngle()); ctx.drawImage(this.image, Math.round(-this.dimensions.x/2), Math.round(-this.dimensions.y/2), this.dimensions.x, this.dimensions.y); ctx.restore(); This is how I instanciate a new bullet: var bulletPosition = playerPosition.clone(); // Copy of the player position var bulletDirection = Vector2D.substract(targetPosition, playerPosition).normalize(); // Difference between the player and the target, normalized new Bullet(bulletPosition, bulletDirection); This is how I move the bullet (this is the bullet object): var speed = 5; this.position.add(Vector2D.multiply(this.direction, speed)); And this is how I draw the bullet (this is the bullet object): ctx.save(); ctx.translate(this.position.x, this.position.y); ctx.rotate(this.direction.getAngle()); ctx.fillRect(0, 0, 3, 3); ctx.restore(); How can I change the direction and position vectors of the bullet to ensure it is on the blue dotted line? I think I should represent the shift with a vector, but I can’t see how to use it.

  • HTML5 Canvas Converting between cartesian and isometric coordinates

    - by Amir
    I'm having issues wrapping my head around the Cartesian to Isometric coordinate conversion in HTML5 canvas. As I understand it, the process is two fold: (1) Scale down the y-axis by 0.5, i.e. ctx.scale(1,0.5); or ctx.setTransform(1,0,0,0.5,0,0); This supposedly produces the following matrix: [x; y] x [1, 0; 0, 0.5] (2) Rotate the context by 45 degrees, i.e. ctx.rotate(Math.PI/4); This should produce the following matrix: [x; y] x [cos(45), -sin(45); sin(45), cos(45)] This (somehow) results in the final matrix of ctx.setTransform(2,-1,1,0.5,0,0); which I cannot seem to understand... How is this matrix derived? I cannot seem to produce this matrix by multiplying the scaling and rotation matrices produced earlier... Also, if I write out the equation for the final transformation matrix, I get: newX = 2x + y newY = -x + y/2 But this doesn't seem to be correct. For example, the following code draws an isometric tile at cartesian coordinates (500, 100). ctx.setTransform(2,-1,1,0.5,0,0); ctx.fillRect(500, 100, width*2, height); When I check the result on the screen, the actual coordinates are (285, 215) which do not satisfy the equations I produced earlier... So what is going on here? I would be very grateful if you could: (1) Help me understand how the final isometric transformation matrix is derived; (2) Help me produce the correct equation for finding the on-screen coordinates of an isometric projection. Many thanks and kind regards

  • Unity, changing gravity game & stopping character when he hit a wall.

    - by Sylario
    i am currently working on a 2d puzzle game in the unity engine. One of the aspect of this game is the possibility to rotate the level of 90°. It also rotate the gravity. The main character is not directly controlled by the player, but instead fall when the level is rotated. When the main character hit a wall, he should stop to move. If i do not stop it, it kind of blink ans shake against the wall. To stop it i detect collision and depending on the current rotation state, the player will stop at "vertical" or "horizontal" tags when a OnCollisonEnter occurs. I must do that because when the player fall on his relative ground, He must not stop like if he had touch a wall. My problem is the 'side' of platform, or the 'top' of wall, they use the same tag and thus do not give the correct tag to my character. I tried to put a very small invisible box on top/side of elements but the collision occurs nevertheless. It seems when the player falls and hit something he go through a bit before being replaced at correct position by unity. Is there a way : 1 ) to doesn't stop my character but to make it appear immobile on screen 2 ) To detect a "i cannot move anymore" collision other than by using collision?

  • Smoothing rotation

    - by Lewis
    I've spent the last three days trying to work out how to rotate a sprite smoothly depending on the velocity.x value of the sprite. I'm using this: float Proportion = 9.5; float maxDiff = 200; float rotation = fmaxf(fminf(playerVelocity.x * Proportion, maxDiff), -maxDiff); player.rotation = rotation; The behaviour is what I required but if the velocity changes rapidly then it will look like the sprite will jump to face left or jump to face right. I'll go into the behaviour in a little more detail: 0 velocity = sprite faces forwards negative velocity = sprite faces left depending on value. positive velocity = sprite faces right (higher velocity the more it faces right) same as above. I've read about using interpolation rather than an absolute angle to rotate it to but I don't know how to implement that. I have a physics engine available. There is one other way to get around this: to use += on the rotation angle. The thing is that I would then have to change the equation to produce positive and negative values then to make sure the sprite faces 0 once it reaches 0 velocity again. If I add that in now, it keeps the previous angle even after the velocity has dropped / is dropping. Any ideas/code snippets would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to create a script for moving a 3rd person controller in an iOS device by using Javascript in Unity3D?

    - by user36563
    I've a code but I'm not sure about the steps, so what I should do after the script? pragma strict public var horizontalSpeed : float = 1.0; public var verticalSpeed : float = 1.0; private var h : float = 0.0; private var v : float = 0.0; private var lastPos : Vector3 = Vector3.zero; function Update() { if UNITY_EDITOR if ( Input.GetMouseButtonDown(0) ) { lastPos = Input.mousePosition; } else if ( Input.GetMouseButton(0) ) { var delta = Input.mousePosition - lastPos; h = horizontalSpeed * delta.x ; transform.Rotate( 0, -h, 0, Space.World ); v = verticalSpeed * delta.y ; transform.position += transform.forward * v * Time.deltaTime; lastPos = Input.mousePosition; } else if (Input.touchCount == 1) { var touch : Touch = Input.GetTouch(0); if (touch.phase == TouchPhase.Moved) { h = horizontalSpeed * touch.deltaPosition.x ; transform.Rotate( 0, -h, 0, Space.World ); v = verticalSpeed * touch.deltaPosition.y ; transform.position += transform.forward * v * Time.deltaTime; } } endif }

  • Save object states in .data or attr - Performance vs CSS?

    - by Neysor
    In response to my answer yesterday about rotating an Image, Jamund told me to use .data() instead of .attr() First I thought that he is right, but then I thought about a bigger context... Is it always better to use .data() instead of .attr()? I looked in some other posts like what-is-better-data-or-attr or jquery-data-vs-attrdata The answers were not satisfactory for me... So I moved on and edited the example by adding CSS. I thought it might be useful to make a different Style on each image if it rotates. My style was the following: .rp[data-rotate="0"] { border:10px solid #FF0000; } .rp[data-rotate="90"] { border:10px solid #00FF00; } .rp[data-rotate="180"] { border:10px solid #0000FF; } .rp[data-rotate="270"] { border:10px solid #00FF00; } Because design and coding are often separated, it could be a nice feature to handle this in CSS instead of adding this functionality into JavaScript. Also in my case the data-rotate is like a special state which the image currently has. So in my opinion it make sense to represent it within the DOM. I also thought this could be a case where it is much better to save with .attr() then with .data(). Never mentioned before in one of the posts I read. But then i thought about performance. Which function is faster? I built my own test following: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <title>test</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function runfirst(dobj,dname){ console.log("runfirst "+dname); console.time(dname+"-attr"); for(i=0;i<10000;i++){ dobj.attr("data-test","a"+i); } console.timeEnd(dname+"-attr"); console.time(dname+"-data"); for(i=0;i<10000;i++){ dobj.data("data-test","a"+i); } console.timeEnd(dname+"-data"); } function runlast(dobj,dname){ console.log("runlast "+dname); console.time(dname+"-data"); for(i=0;i<10000;i++){ dobj.data("data-test","a"+i); } console.timeEnd(dname+"-data"); console.time(dname+"-attr"); for(i=0;i<10000;i++){ dobj.attr("data-test","a"+i); } console.timeEnd(dname+"-attr"); } $().ready(function() { runfirst($("#rp4"),"#rp4"); runfirst($("#rp3"),"#rp3"); runlast($("#rp2"),"#rp2"); runlast($("#rp1"),"#rp1"); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="rp1">Testdiv 1</div> <div id="rp2" data-test="1">Testdiv 2</div> <div id="rp3">Testdiv 3</div> <div id="rp4" data-test="1">Testdiv 4</div> </body> </html> It should also show if there is a difference with a predefined data-test or not. One result was this: runfirst #rp4 #rp4-attr: 515ms #rp4-data: 268ms runfirst #rp3 #rp3-attr: 505ms #rp3-data: 264ms runlast #rp2 #rp2-data: 260ms #rp2-attr: 521ms runlast #rp1 #rp1-data: 284ms #rp1-attr: 525ms So the .attr() function did always need more time than the .data() function. This is an argument for .data() I thought. Because performance is always an argument! Then I wanted to post my results here with some questions, and in the act of writing I compared with the questions Stack Overflow showed me (similar titles) And true enough, there was one interesting post about performance I read it and run their example. And now I am confused! This test showed that .data() is slower then .attr() !?!! Why is that so? First I thought it is because of a different jQuery library so I edited it and saved the new one. But the result wasn't changing... So now my questions to you: Why are there some differences in the performance in these two examples? Would you prefer to use data- HTML5 attributes instead of data, if it represents a state? Although it wouldn't be needed at the time of coding? Why - Why not? Now depending on the performance: Would performance be an argument for you using .attr() instead of data, if it shows that .attr() is better? Although data is meant to be used for .data()? UPDATE 1: I did see that without overhead .data() is much faster. Misinterpreted the data :) But I'm more interested in my second question. :) Would you prefer to use data- HTML5 attributes instead of data, if it represents a state? Although it wouldn't be needed at the time of coding? Why - Why not? Are there some other reasons you can think of, to use .attr() and not .data()? e.g. interoperability? because .data() is jquery style and HTML Attributes can be read by all... UPDATE 2: As we see from T.J Crowder's speed test in his answer attr is much faster then data! which is again confusing me :) But please! Performance is an argument, but not the highest! So give answers to my other questions please too!

  • jquery carousel auto scroll with text and image

    - by Evan
    I'm using the jquery carousel and I have the image auto rotating here ( http://jsbin.com/unoce/2), so the issue I'm having is the content on the left is not AUTO rotating "with" the image and the arrow selection is not either. It only works when I click the content on the left and then the image on the right along with the arrow move appropriately together. Can someone provide support so I may get the text and the arrow to "auto" rotate with the image? This code below would only rotate the image and nothing else... jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery("#features").jcarousel({ scroll: 1, auto:2, wrap: 'both', initCallback: mycarousel_initCallback, buttonNextHTML: null, buttonPrevHTML: null }); }); Here's a demo and you can edit this demo too: http://jsbin.com/unoce/2 Thank you, Evan

  • UiSplitViewController doesn't autorotate.

    - by Michael
    Hello, I have recently run into a problem. My iPad app is somehow preventing the iPad from auto-rotating. My app loads a UISplitView with both of the view controllers returning YES for shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:. I have set up my info.plist to include the "Supported interface orientations" key with all four orientations. When I run the app, however, rotating the device does not rotate the splitView (even though I am receiving UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification). In addition, when I exit my app in a different orientation that it started in the iPad home screen doesn't autorotate to the correct view until I rotate it again without my app running.... Any Ideas would be much appreciated....
