  • Facebook Insights numbers don't add up

    I'm having trouble understanding the Facebook stats for a Fan page under reach as they don't seem to add up. Under the reach tab, if I expand the countries demographics at the top, then the countries listed add up to around 16k people. But scrolling down under reach, the graph reaches as high as 260k in a particular week. From what they say, it seems that both the graph and demographics are talking about unique users, so where are the other 244k unique users that are in the graph but seemingly not from any country on Earth?

    I am designing a level-based game where the user completes the level 1, then 2, 3 and so on. There are 200 levels and each is rather short: 60-ish seconds. I am tracking Each played, completed (cleared for the first time), failed and cleared level Milestones: number of players to reach level 1, 5, 10, etc. Also for number of failed and played levels. Separate new players from returning ones. However, I still find it difficult to get a clear picture of what is going on from the stats. So what are the best practices for determining where I am losing players?

  • Detecting REFERRER 301 redirects in AwStats

    About six months ago, I have moved a website to a new domain, and helped migration using 301 redirects into .htaccess of the old domain. This morning I was looking at AwStats log of the new domain, and was surpised to notice that in the "HTTP Status codes"section, 301 redirects score 77% of the whole codes (seems 200 are not tracked here). So, what is the proper meaning of the 301 code in those stats? Does it mean that 77% of traffic is incoming (referrer) from 301 redirects or?

    Any idea why my Restore command works fine when run in Management Studio 2008 but not when run from the dos prompt? Shown below is the error when running from the dos prompt. I have telnet'ed into the daemon and am listening on the port, and can send the daemon commands via the CLI. I want to know if anyone is aware of a command I can use to dump the contents of the cache to the console. I know of commands like 'flush_all' and 'stats' but those are not quite sufficient for what I want to do.

My stats showed that it took an average of 14 seconds to fetch some data spread over 5 pages. I would like to speed things up, my questions are: Is it possible to see how much each step takes?     I'm trying to create an application similar to the site WhatPulse, which will generate an image with my clicks and keystrokes. WhatPulse only updates the image once every 24 hours, so I am going to make an application to keep track of that for me, only with realtime stats. How can I count total keystrokes (outside of the application itself) as well as total clicks, in vb.net? This is for personal use. Thanks for your help!

  • iPhone OS: KVO: Why is my Observer only getting notified at applicationDidfinishLaunching

    I am basically trying to implement an achievement tracking setup in my app. I have a managedObjectModel class called StatTracker to keep track of all sorts of stats and I want my Achievement tracking class to be notified when those stats change so I can check them against a value and see if the user has earned an achievement. I've tried to impliment KVO and I think I'm pretty close to making it happen but the problem I'm running into is this: So in the appDelegate i have an Ivar for my Achievement tracker class, I attach it as an observer to a property value of my statTracker core data entity in the applicationDidFinishLaunching method. I know its making the connection because I've been able to trigger a UIAlert in my AchievementTracker instance, and I've put several log statements that should be triggered whenever the value on the StatTracker's property changes. the log statement appears only once at the application launch. I'm wondering if I'm missing something in the whole object lifecycle scheme of things, I just don't understand why the observer stops getting notified of changes after the applicationDidFinishLaunching method has run. Does it have something to do with the scope of the AchievementTracker reference or more likely the reference to my core data StatTracker is going away once that method finishes up. I guess I'm not sure the right place to place these if that is the case. Would love some help.   • Explicit disable MySQL query cache in some parts of program

    In a Django project, some cronjob programs are mainly used for administrative or analysis purposes, e.g. generating site usage stats, rotating user activities log, etc. We probably do not hope MySQL to cache queries in those programs to save memory usage and improve query cache efficiency. Is it possible to turn off MySQL query cache explicitly in those programs while keep it enabled for other parts including all views.py?
