  • sql-server: Can I update two table with Single Query?

    - by RedsDevils
    How can I write single UPDATE query to change value of COL1 to ‘X’ if COL2 < 10 otherwise change it to ‘Y’, where the following two tables are linked by ID CREATE TABLE TEMP(ID TINYINT, COL1 CHAR(1)) INSERT INTO TEMP(ID,COL1) VALUES (1,'A') INSERT INTO TEMP(ID,COL1) VALUES (2,'B') INSERT INTO TEMP(ID,COL1) VALUES (11,'A') INSERT INTO TEMP(ID,COL1) VALUES (17,'B') CREATE TABLE TEMP2(ID TINYINT, COL2 TINYINT) INSERT INTO TEMP2(ID,COL2) VALUES (1,1) INSERT INTO TEMP2(ID,COL2) VALUES (2,5) INSERT INTO TEMP2(ID,COL2) VALUES (11,10) INSERT INTO TEMP2(ID,COL2) VALUES (17,15) Thanks in advance!

  • Storing a SHA512 Password Hash in Database

    - by Chris
    In my ASP.NET web app I'm hashing my user passwords with SHA512. Despite much SO'ing and Googling I'm unclear how I should be storing them in the database (SQL2005) - the code below shows the basics of how I'm creating the hash as a string and I'm currently inserting it into the database into a Char(88) column as that seems to be the length created consistently Is holding it as a String the best way to do it, if so will it always be 88 chars on a SHA512 (as I have seen some bizarre stuff on Google)? Dim byteInput As Byte() = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(sSalt & sInput) Dim hash As HashAlgorithm = New SHA512Managed() Dim sInsertToDatabase As String = Convert.ToBase64String(hash.ComputeHash(byteInput))

  • Setting glutBitmapCharacter color?

    - by colordot
    Just wondering if someone can help me track down my issue with the following code where the text color is not being set correctly (its just rendering whatever color is in the background) void RenderText(int x, int y, const char *string) { int i, len; glUseProgram(0); glLoadIdentity(); glColor3f(1.0f, 1.0f, 1.0f); glTranslatef(0.0f, 0.0f, -5.0f); glRasterPos2i(x, y); glDisable(GL_TEXTURE_2D); for (i = 0, len = strlen(string); i < len; i++) { glutBitmapCharacter(GLUT_BITMAP_8_BY_13, (int)string[i]); } glEnable(GL_TEXTURE_2D); } I've checked all the usual things (I think), disabling texturing, setting color before rasterPos'ing, etc Ive disabled shaders but Im still having issues

  • Purpose of lua_lock and lua_unlock?

    - by anon
    What is the point of lua_lock and lua_unlock? The following implies it's important: LUA_API void lua_gettable (lua_State *L, int idx) { StkId t; lua_lock(L); t = index2adr(L, idx); api_checkvalidindex(L, t); luaV_gettable(L, t, L->top - 1, L->top - 1); lua_unlock(L); } LUA_API void lua_getfield (lua_State *L, int idx, const char *k) { StkId t; TValue key; lua_lock(L); t = index2adr(L, idx); api_checkvalidindex(L, t); setsvalue(L, &key, luaS_new(L, k)); luaV_gettable(L, t, &key, L->top); api_incr_top(L); lua_unlock(L); } The following implies it does nothing: #define lua_lock(L) ((void) 0) #define lua_unlock(L) ((void) 0) Please enlighten.

  • Making a DateTime field in a database automatic?

    - by Mike
    I'm putting together a simple test database to learn MVC with. I want to add a DateTime field to show when the record was CREATED. ID = int Name = Char DateCreated = (dateTime, DateTime2..?) I have a feeling that this type of DateTime capture can be done automatically - but that's all I have, a feeling. Can it be done? And if so how? While we're on the subject: if I wanted to include another field that captured the DateTime of when the record was LAST UPDATED how would I do that. I'm hoping to not do this manually. Many thanks Mike

  • Cannot convert CString to BYTE array

    - by chekalin-v
    I need to convert CString to BYTE array. I don't know why, but everything that I found in internet does not work :( For example, I have CString str = _T("string"); I've been trying so 1) BYTE *pbBuffer = (BYTE*)(LPCTSTR)str; 2) BYTE *pbBuffer = new BYTE[str.GetLength()+1]; memcpy(pbBuffer, (VOID*)(LPCTSTR)StrRegID, str.GetLength()); 3) BYTE *pbBuffer = (BYTE*)str.GetString(); And always pbBuffer contains just first letter of str DWORD dwBufferLen = strlen((char *)pbBuffer)+1; is 2 But if I use const string: BYTE *pbBuffer = (BYTE*)"string"; pbBuffer contains whole string Where is my mistake?

  • Conceal packet loss in PCM stream

    - by ZeroDefect
    I am looking to use 'Packet Loss Concealment' to conceal lost PCM frames in an audio stream. Unfortunately, I cannot find a library that is accessible without all the licensing restrictions and code bloat (...up for some suggestions though). I have located some GPL code written by Steve Underwood for the Asterisk project which implements PLC. There are several limitations; although, as Steve suggests in his code, his algorithm can be applied to different streams with a bit of work. Currently, the code works with 8kHz 16-bit signed mono streams. Variations of the code can be found through a simple search of Google Code Search. My hope is that I can adapt the code to work with other streams. Initially, the goal is to adjust the algorithm for 8+ kHz, 16-bit signed, multichannel audio (all in a C++ environment). Eventually, I'm looking to make the code available under the GPL license in hopes that it could be of benefit to others... Attached is the code below with my efforts. The code includes a main function that will "drop" a number of frames with a given probability. Unfortunately, the code does not quite work as expected. I'm receiving EXC_BAD_ACCESS when running in gdb, but I don't get a trace from gdb when using 'bt' command. Clearly, I'm trampimg on memory some where but not sure exactly where. When I comment out the *amdf_pitch* function, the code runs without crashing... int main (int argc, char *argv[]) { std::ifstream fin("C:\\cc32kHz.pcm"); if(!fin.is_open()) { std::cout << "Failed to open input file" << std::endl; return 1; } std::ofstream fout_repaired("C:\\cc32kHz_repaired.pcm"); if(!fout_repaired.is_open()) { std::cout << "Failed to open output repaired file" << std::endl; return 1; } std::ofstream fout_lossy("C:\\cc32kHz_lossy.pcm"); if(!fout_lossy.is_open()) { std::cout << "Failed to open output repaired file" << std::endl; return 1; } audio::PcmConcealer Concealer; Concealer.Init(1, 16, 32000); //Generate random numbers; srand( time(NULL) ); int value = 0; int probability = 5; while(!fin.eof()) { char arr[2]; fin.read(arr, 2); //Generate's random number; value = rand() % 100 + 1; if(value <= probability) { char blank[2] = {0x00, 0x00}; fout_lossy.write(blank, 2); //Fill in data; Concealer.Fill((int16_t *)blank, 1); fout_repaired.write(blank, 2); } else { //Write data to file; fout_repaired.write(arr, 2); fout_lossy.write(arr, 2); Concealer.Receive((int16_t *)arr, 1); } } fin.close(); fout_repaired.close(); fout_lossy.close(); return 0; } PcmConcealer.hpp /* * Code adapted from Steve Underwood of the Asterisk Project. This code inherits * the same licensing restrictions as the Asterisk Project. */ #ifndef __PCMCONCEALER_HPP__ #define __PCMCONCEALER_HPP__ /** 1. What does it do? The packet loss concealment module provides a suitable synthetic fill-in signal, to minimise the audible effect of lost packets in VoIP applications. It is not tied to any particular codec, and could be used with almost any codec which does not specify its own procedure for packet loss concealment. Where a codec specific concealment procedure exists, the algorithm is usually built around knowledge of the characteristics of the particular codec. It will, therefore, generally give better results for that particular codec than this generic concealer will. 2. How does it work? While good packets are being received, the plc_rx() routine keeps a record of the trailing section of the known speech signal. If a packet is missed, plc_fillin() is called to produce a synthetic replacement for the real speech signal. The average mean difference function (AMDF) is applied to the last known good signal, to determine its effective pitch. Based on this, the last pitch period of signal is saved. Essentially, this cycle of speech will be repeated over and over until the real speech resumes. However, several refinements are needed to obtain smooth pleasant sounding results. - The two ends of the stored cycle of speech will not always fit together smoothly. This can cause roughness, or even clicks, at the joins between cycles. To soften this, the 1/4 pitch period of real speech preceeding the cycle to be repeated is blended with the last 1/4 pitch period of the cycle to be repeated, using an overlap-add (OLA) technique (i.e. in total, the last 5/4 pitch periods of real speech are used). - The start of the synthetic speech will not always fit together smoothly with the tail of real speech passed on before the erasure was identified. Ideally, we would like to modify the last 1/4 pitch period of the real speech, to blend it into the synthetic speech. However, it is too late for that. We could have delayed the real speech a little, but that would require more buffer manipulation, and hurt the efficiency of the no-lost-packets case (which we hope is the dominant case). Instead we use a degenerate form of OLA to modify the start of the synthetic data. The last 1/4 pitch period of real speech is time reversed, and OLA is used to blend it with the first 1/4 pitch period of synthetic speech. The result seems quite acceptable. - As we progress into the erasure, the chances of the synthetic signal being anything like correct steadily fall. Therefore, the volume of the synthesized signal is made to decay linearly, such that after 50ms of missing audio it is reduced to silence. - When real speech resumes, an extra 1/4 pitch period of sythetic speech is blended with the start of the real speech. If the erasure is small, this smoothes the transition. If the erasure is long, and the synthetic signal has faded to zero, the blending softens the start up of the real signal, avoiding a kind of "click" or "pop" effect that might occur with a sudden onset. 3. How do I use it? Before audio is processed, call plc_init() to create an instance of the packet loss concealer. For each received audio packet that is acceptable (i.e. not including those being dropped for being too late) call plc_rx() to record the content of the packet. Note this may modify the packet a little after a period of packet loss, to blend real synthetic data smoothly. When a real packet is not available in time, call plc_fillin() to create a sythetic substitute. That's it! */ /*! • Convert French to ASCII (French speakers are wanted)

    - by Andrey
    i need to convert French text to most correct analog in ASCII. Let me explain. In German you should convert ä to ae, this is not simple removing of diacritics, it is finding most correct analogue. Please help me with French. I found that there is no programmatic way to do it, i create Dictionary<char, string>. To convert (+ capitals): é, à, è, ù, â, ê, î, ô, û, ë, ï, ü, ÿ, ç. and any other you suggest! Please write suggested substitution in ascii. Thanks, Andrey.

  • Strlen of MAX 16 chars string using bitwise operators

    - by fabrizioM
    The challenge is to find the fastest way to determine in C/C++ the length of a c-string using bitwise operations in C. char thestring[16]; The c-string has a max size of 16 chars and is inside a buffer If the string is equal to 16 chars doesn't have the null byte at the end. I am sure can be done but didn't got it right yet. I am working on this at the moment, but assuming the string is memcpied on a zero-filled buffer. len = buff[0] != 0x0 + buff[1] != 0x0 + buff[2] != 0x0 + buff[3] != 0x0 + buff[4] != 0x0 + buff[5] != 0x0 + buff[6] != 0x0 + buff[7] != 0x0 + buff[8] != 0x0 + buff[9] != 0x0 + buff[10] != 0x0 + buff[11] != 0x0 + buff[12] != 0x0 + buff[13] != 0x0 + buff[14] != 0x0 + buff[15] != 0x0;

  • Optimizing if-else /switch-case with string options

    - by cc
    What modification would bring to this piece of code? In the last lines, should I use more if-else structures, instead of "if-if-if" if (action.equals("opt1")) { //something } else { if (action.equals("opt2")) { //something } else { if ((action.equals("opt3")) || (action.equals("opt4"))) { //something } if (action.equals("opt5")) { //something } if (action.equals("opt6")) { //something } } } Later Edit: This is Java. I don't think that switch-case structure will work with Strings. Later Edit 2: A switch works with the byte, short, char, and int primitive data types. It also works with enumerated types (discussed in Classes and Inheritance) and a few special classes that "wrap" certain primitive types: Character, Byte, Short, and Integer (discussed in Simple Data Objects ).

  • Problem with HTML Parser in IE

    I am trying to create a dialog box that will appear only if the browser selected is IE (any version) however I get this error: Message: HTML Parsing Error: Unable to modify the parent container element before the child element is closed (KB927917) That's all in "Line/Char/Code" 0 so I do not know where is the error. The code I'm using is this: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- if(BrowserDetect.browser.contains("Explorer")) { var Nachricht = 'Hemos detectado que está utilizando ' + BrowserDetect.browser + ' ' + BrowserDetect.version + '. Puede que algunas funciones no estén habilitadas. <p></p> Si desea experimentar todo el potencial del portal, por favor intente desde otro navegador (browser). <p></p>Gracias showDialog('¡Aviso Importante!',Nachricht,'warning',10); } </script> I've noticed if I remove the "BrowserDetect.browser" and .version it removes the error, but I need those to check =/...any ideas will be appreciated =).

  • RubyQt Crashing on QTableWidget

    - by gja
    I'm getting some weirdness with QtRuby when using a TableWidget. The table widget loads, but when you click on the elements in the row, the app segfaults and crashes. require 'Qt4' class SimpleModel < Qt::AbstractTableModel def rowCount(parent) return 1 end def columnCount(parent) return 1 end def data(index, role=Qt::DisplayRole) return Qt::Variant.new("Really Long String") if index.row == 0 and index.column == 0 and role == Qt::DisplayRole return Qt::Variant.new end end Qt::Application.new(ARGV) do Qt::TableWidget.new(1, 1) do set_model SimpleModel.new show end exec end The backtrace seems to imply that it is bombing in mousePressEvent #6 0x01624643 in QAbstractItemView::pressed(QModelIndex const&) () from /usr/lib/libQtGui.so.4 #7 0x016306f5 in QAbstractItemView::mousePressEvent(QMouseEvent*) () from /usr/lib/libQtGui.so.4 If I override mousePressEvent and mouseMoveEvent, these kinds of crashes no longer happen. Am I doing something wrong over here, or can I chalk this up as a bug in QtRuby? I'm on fedora11, with the following packages installed: QtRuby-4.4.0-1.fc11.i586 ruby-1.8.6.369-1.fc11.i586 These crashes also happen when running the script on Windows.

I've found solution to make row higher by adding ImageList with specified height and then I add Environment.NewLine to my text. It works in Vista and 7 but in XP instead of new line there are shown squares. I've been trying to add "\n" "\r\n" and ASCII char 10 but ther were still squares! After few days I still don't know what's wrong and I need your help.

  • Why isn't "String or Binary data would be truncated" a more descriptive error?

    - by rwmnau
    To start: I understand what this error means - I'm not attempting to resolve an instance of it. This error is notoriously difficult to troubleshoot, because if you get it inserting a million rows into a table 100 columns wide, there's virtually no way to determine what column of what row is causing the error - you have to modify your process to insert one row at a time, and then see which one fails. That's a pain, to put it mildly. Is there any reason that the error doesn't look more like this? String or Binary data would be truncated Error inserting value "Some 18 char value" into SomeTable.SomeColumn VARCHAR(10) That would make it a lot easier to find and correct the value, if not the table structure itself. If seeing the table data is a security concern, then maybe something generic, like giving the length of the attempted value and the name of the failing column?

  • Convert C++Builder AnsiString to std::string via boost::lexical_cast

    - by David Klein
    For a school assignment I have to implement a project in C++ using Borland C++ Builder. As the VCL uses AnsiString for all GUI Components I have to convert all of my std::strings to AnsiString for the sake of displaying. std::string inp = "Hello world!"; AnsiString outp(inp.c_str()); works of course but is a bit tedious to write and code duplication I want to avoid. As we use Boost in other contexts I decided to provide some helper functions go get boost::lexical_cast to work with AnsiString. Here is my implementation so far: std::istream& operator>>(std::istream& istr, AnsiString& str) { istr.exceptions(std::ios::badbit | std::ios::failbit | std::ios::eofbit); std::string s; std::getline(istr,s); str = AnsiString(s.c_str()); return istr; } In the beginning I got Access Violation after Access Violation but since I added the .exceptions() stuff the picture gets clearer. When the conversion is performed I get the following Exception: ios_base::eofbit set [Runtime Error/std::ios_base::failure] Does anyone have an idea how to fix it and can explain why the error occurs? My C++ experience is very limited. The conversion routine the other way round would be: std::ostream& operator<<(std::ostream& ostr,const AnsiString& str) { ostr << (str.c_str()); return ostr; } Maybe someone will spot an error here too :) With best regards! Edit: At the moment I'm using the edited version of Jem, it works in the beginning. After a while of using the programm the Borland Codeguard mentions some pointer arithmetic in already freed regions. Any ideas how this could be related?
