• resources.frontController.throwExceptions=1 does not generate exceptions

  I'm setting resources.frontController.throwExceptions = 1 (or true) in my application.ini but that doesn't seem to force the FrontController to throw exceptions. I can see exceptions (output on the webpage) when I explicitly set 'protected $_throwExceptions = true;' in Front.php in Zend library. Any idea why the config setting doesn't work?

• Vertical scroll is not active when a UITableView is put into a UIScrollView+PageControl

  Hi all, I am trying to simulate a TabStrip using UIScrollView+PageControl. Inside each Tab/Page (UIView is used here), I've put a UITableView inside. The outer scroll view & pageControl work perfect, I can swipe fom one page to the next. Now the problem iswhen there are more entries in the UITableView, the vertical scrolling of the inner UITableView does not work any more. Anyone has an idea? regards, Ming

• If I write an algorithm to encrypt a file, are their tools available to break the encryption?

  I have an idea for encryption that I could program fairly easily to encrypt some local text file. Given that my approach is novel, and does not use any of the industry standard encryption techniques, would I be able to test the strength of my encryption using 'cracker' apps or suchlike? Or do all those tools rely on advanced knowledge of the encryption process (or intercepted 'keys'), meaning I'd have to build my own cracker for testing?

  I remember Sun's slogan so vividly... "Write Once, Run Anywhere". The idea being that since programs are compiled into standard byte codes, any device with a Java Virtual Machine could run it. Over the years, Java seems to have made it onto many platforms/devices. Is this the intention or was it ever the intention of .NET.   I would like to use the jquery slideUp effect when the user navigates away from the page just to make the page look cool as it closes. I assume that I should use the onunload event but how can I delay the page closing long enough for the effect to run to completion. One of the options that came to mind is effectively hijacking the page closing function, storing it in some variable and then executing it once I had run my effect but I have no idea how I would do that. Any suggestions or alternative ideas are more than welcome

  I wanted to add a tab to the user edit page ie user/%/edit/foo, and was using the twitter module as a model. After much spelunking and stepping through with a debugger, I realised that I needed to add a hook_user function in my module so that the %user_category part of the menu router path would work. It's now functioning as expected, but I don't really have a solid idea of what I just did, and haven't found a good explanation anywhere. Can anyone explain to me what it's about?

  Hello there, I just created this thread to discuss with people who have adopted the smarty system, and how many time it took to you to understand it, because i just can't get the idea, instead of making every easier as everybody says i think it just make more complex to code. More than a problem with only smarty is with the whole MVC model, with CakePHP or KohanaPHP i experience the same problems, u need to do 3x lines of code and files for something that u can do with a few lines of simple php. I'm assuming the new database looks like this: tag_id tag_name tagged_subject_ids 1 tag1 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 2 tag2 2, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12 so, if I want to select the tags belong to subject 1: SELECT tag_name FROM tag_database WHERE tagged_subject_ids LIKE '1'; I think the way that I select tag may be very slow, so please help me.   I'm having trouble adding an Entity Framework entity to a ObjectContext's EntitySet automatically using the WPF 4.0 DataGrid's add functionality. Here's the setup: DataGrid--BoundTo--ListCollectionView--BoundTo--EntitySet When I interactively add a row to the DataGrid, the EntitySet does not have a new entity added to it. Updating the row's cell data does in fact update the bound entity's properties, however. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?
