    I try to open a large number of files but after 5000 files or so I get Exception in thread "Main" java.io.IOException: The device is not connected Is this the expected behavior? Is there a way around it? I want to leave my code as straightforward as possible.

    Hi, i have a large dictionary I'd like to save. I have pickled it using cPickle.dumps and saved the result into a TextField. When trying to retrieve it (cPicle.loads) i get the following error: loads() argument 1 must be string, not unicode Does anybody have any experience in serializing python objects and storing them in a DB using Django?     I'm writing a .NET application that will make an RPC call to a Java application (via a message queue). The data sent in both directions will be large arrays of floating-point numbers. What is the best way to serialize them to send them across the wire? I'd like something more compact than text, but architecture-independent as the server may not be an x86 machine. The Java application can be changed as needed.

  • Compressing ASPX pageview in code or compress HTTP in IIS?

    In the past, with pages with large viewstate I have overridden the PageStatePersister class so when the state is saved I compress it. On Load I decompress it. I have haven't really thought about it, but could IIS handle something like this better? The reason I did this was to keep my pages slimmer because I have a lot of custom controls on the page and the viewstate was huge.     Suppose that I have two numpy arrays of the form x = [[1,2] [2,4] [3,6] [4,NaN] [5,10]] y = [[0,-5] [1,0] [2,5] [5,20] [6,25]] is there an efficient way to merge them such that I have xmy = [[0, NaN, -5 ] [1, 2, 0 ] [2, 4, 5 ] [3, 6, NaN] [4, NaN, NaN] [5, 10, 20 ] [6, NaN, 25 ] I can implement a simple function using search to find the index but this is not elegant and potentially inefficient for a lot of arrays and large dimensions. Any pointer is appreciated.

  • html5media library doesn't work on FF 3.6.3

    Hi. Am I the only one experiencing this issue? I'm using the html5media library and the test page they provide no longer plays in Firefox 3.6.3, though it plays on the latest Safari, Chrome, Opera, and IE. On FF 3.6.3, it shows the video and the audio with large X through them. I'm using this library on my site and noticed the issue as well. I'm not seeing any errors in the error console.

  • How can I change the color of build output in a shell window?

    I have a build process which runs from a batch file. It produces a large volume of text. Sometimes it prints the word "Error" or "Warning" followed by a message. The errors and warnings are getting lost among a sea of text. Can I highlight those words in a different color, maybe in a dos window, or a cygwin shell window, possibly by piping them through some string manipulation program before posting them to the screen? I want a formula that will make it for eample twice its size but from the center * * * * * * * * Therefore the new shape is twice as large and from the center of the polygon. Log files can get quite large, so I've already tried and ruled out the IO.readlines("log_file.log")[-200..-1] method.   • Can I prevent IMAP from grabbing files over X mb using PHP?

    I'm building a little script that will connect to an IMAP account and grab the content of the email and also the attachments. It works well for the most part, but when a really large file comes in, it causes the script to time out. Is there any way that I can check the file size before trying to grab it? I think that would be the simplest solution. Otherwise, I may have to upgrade to a server that has more memory.
