  I have Visual Studio 2005 and want to teach myself DirectX in my free time. I downloaded the latest Windows 7 and DirectX SDKs. According to Microsoft's website, the latest DirectX SDK is not compatible with Visual Studio 2005 (I assume they mean it's not compatible with the SDK it came with). Can I configure VS2005 to use the SDKs I downloaded instead of the SDK it came with? If so, is there anything I should be particularly careful with?

• Why does the task name contain "now / 30"?

  iPhone Human Interface Guidelines -- Do they apply for OpenGL games? GL games typically have custom buttons, custom lists, etc. Take the Quake player list for example, if ported, it wouldnt be a typical UI list object. Does this mean the reviewer in question would reject anything that wasn't using standard UI? Or, is there an exception for games.

Basically I would like to -have all files encrypted locally before sending to the server. the server should never receive any file or data unencrypted. -Every other feature should work pretty much the same way as SVN or CVS does today. How might I go about removing the setter on the class variable var? I've tried using something like B.send("unset_method", "var="), but that doesn't work (nor does remove_method, or overwriting that method with a var= method that doesn't do anything). Any ideas?

  If you are developing a commercial desktop application, what's your release process? Sample process: Develop it: Patch bugs, add features, etc. Feature Freeze (do not fix, add anything unless it's absolutely required) Test it If everything is OK release it, if it's not fix it, test it, release it I think the most crucial question is what's your approach to "feature freeze test release" cycle? Or do you test it more frequently that you don't need such a cycle and your software is always ready for public release?

  I'm trying to write a program that needs smooth orientation sensor samples as the phone is rotated all around. Every time the orientation of the phone is changed, it interrupts the data and freezes the program while the layout changes. How can I lock it in one orientation (landscape or portrait, it doesn't matter)? I assume it has something to do with android:layout in the xml file, but I can't find anything online.

  I am painting a widget and I want to optimize the process. Basically i will be sliding the image in the x direction and I only want to fill the newly exposed area. Is there a way to translate the pixels of a widget without calling update or using paintevent? I know of pixmaps and such but I am wondering If I can for example draw a pixmap once and then translate what I have drawn without having to paint anything else or draw pixmaps anymore.

  Hi guys. I'm having a problem using ActiveSupport's core extensions on a gem I am developing. I had it working with AS 2.3.8, but as soon as I wanted to port it to 3b4, the extensions stopped working and my test results are filled with lines such as: undefined method `blank?' for "something":String I've included it via gem "activesupport" followed by require "active_support" Is there anything else I need to call to include those extensions?
