  • How do I connect to my home's primary wired network through an extra (wireless) router?

    Thanks for looking! I have set up a desktop PC in my workshop. The Cat 5 cable connects from this PC to a wireless router which is connected to my home network. The Internet connection is working just fine. However, the "wired" network this is on shows up as a different wired network than the one that the PCs inside my house are connected to. This is a problem because I would like to connect this workshop PC to various shared resources like printers, HD Homerun (cable tv card), shared drives, etc. When I go to "Network and Sharing" and attempt to find the network that the PCs inside my home are connected to, I don't see it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  • Can I remove a RAR file's (known) password without recompressing the archive?

    Long title. Anyway, I haven't been able to find an answer to this question. I know the password to the RAR file, I locked it myself, but now all I want to do is remove the password because it's too much of a pain in the butt to type it in every time. Is there a way to do this in WinRAR or an equivalent program? The only thing I knew to do was to extract it, then create a new RAR without the password. It's not a life-or-death issue, but it would be nice to know. Thanks for your time! EDIT: I just saw a bunch of related questions that appear to ask the same thing. Thanks I recently installed php 5.2.17 I ran a program which connect with a https server and I got the following error Notice: file_get_contents(): Unable to find the wrapper "https" - did you forget to enable it when you configured PHP? in C:\java\newsweaver-api-v2\simple\list- tags.php on line 30 I added extension=php_openssl.dll to php.ini but I'm wondering is openssl native to php 5.2.17 or do I need to download an extntion.   • How can I clear the "authentication cache" in Windows 7 to a password protected samba share?

    I have a Linux samba server and have explicitly listed users that can access the folder. I have successfully congfigured Samba to require a username and password when accessing the share from windows (using the smbpasswd, etc.). But now I want to force clear the auth cache on the windows machine. Such as when I go to a colleague's computer, I use my account to access a file in the protected share, but then before I leave his computer, i'll want to make sure the authorization cache is cleared so he cannot access that folder with my credentials. I found the command to use in the windows command prompt on google a couple of weeks ago but silly me I didn't save it... Hope someone can help, thanks! Oh, Samba is configured as a workgroup and not a domain (if that helps) - so windows users do NOT log into a domain on start up. thanks!

    So I started up my laptop today and was greeted with the following message (not a direct quote): The type of the AC adapter cannot be determined. This may interfere with your computer's performance. Try unplugging the AC adapter and then plugging it back in, thanks. The problem was that I hadn't fully secured the plug into the back of the computer. However, I was a little taken aback when a message from BIOS said, "thanks." Is this normal? Any chance the message was illegitimate (virus)?

  • Writing Macros to find a specific cell and paste the value from a control cell into it

    I am having some issues writing a Macro to do the following. I have a very long list of rooms with two columns one containing the room number i.e. B-CL102 and the other containing a varying integer.I am looking to create a new column that will contain another different integer for each of the rooms. Is there any way to write a Macro so that I can use two control cells at the top of the sheet, type the room number into one and the integer matching that room into another, then run the Macro and it will automatically populate the correct cell. Then I can change the two values in the control cells and run the Macro again and so on. Thanks for your help, I have a very minimal amount of experience with Macros essentially just the basics.     I am trying to setup phpMyAdmin to use with a remote MySQL databases on Scientific Linux release 6.2. If I use the mysql command line to connect to the remote database it works great but if I use mysqladmin I am getting "#2002 Cannot log in to the MySQL server". I have found if I do a: setenforce 0 It will work from myphpadmin to my remote database but once I reboot or set Scientific Linux setenforce back to one it stops working again.. I know setenforce 0 is not the right thing to do but can someone please give me details steps on how to get this working the right way... thanks I am new to Scientific Linux and been having some issues.. thanks

    I have a sound file in my app that the iPhone does not play. After checking other problems I checked the file permission in terminal. What I can see is that the file permission of this file has a- @ at the end of it. I don't know if that is the problem but this is the only difference from the other sound files that plays fine. What is this sign ? Could it cause a problem ?   • How do you do the offsite hard drive backups?

    I have been doing hard drive backups for a while, which I believe a lot of you guys do as well, but am having trouble figuring out a better way storing them offsite. I am wondering how you guys out there do that. Any policy or tips & tricks when it comes to offsite store your backups, mainly hard drives not tapes. Thanks in advance. [update] Thanks for mentioning the online backup. We are actually in the middle of this process. And I 100% agree that it's the ultimate way to go. However, considering the cost, sometimes it may not be the option, as it's a quite expensive option if you also consider the application level. I guess online backup can be a very good one in the separate topic. :)
