  • Phone solution for virtual company

    I am looking for recommendations/links for a service that can give/assign me a phone number, have a recorded messages played when someone calls such as "press 1 for ..., press 2 for yyy etc" and then allow the caller to leave a message that is then emailed to the owner of the particular voicemail box. Google voice works for 1 mailbox only, but something like that with multiple mailboxes and multiple email addresses would be great.

  • Linux: Create files and direcotires but not delete them

    I have a process that create directories and files inside a working directory, ex: /workingdir/file1 /workingdir/file2 /workingdir/dir1/file1 /workingdir/dir1/dir2/file1 /workingdir/dir1/file2 I need to avoid deletion/overwrites of created folders/files for that user, but allow subsequent folders/subfolders/files creation. I try permissions, gid, acl with no luck. What is the correct way to do that ? (i can use a cron job if needed)

  • SFTP "Could not connect to server error"

    I'm having problems connecting to my server via SFTP. I can SSH in to the system perfectly fine, but for some odd reason, i'm not able to SFTP (which I used to be able to). I have cleared ALL my iptables rules iptables -F still no access. I have removed the sub system (to allow FULL access) still no access. I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is. Thus is therefore making a solution impossible.

    Is there a way to have a sudoers entry that allows executing of only a particular command, without any extra arguments? I can't seem to find a resource that describes how command matching works with sudoers. Say I want to grant sudo for /path/to/executable arg. Does an entry like the following: user ALL=(ALL) /path/to/executable arg strictly allow sudo access to a command exactly matching that? That is, it doesn't grant user sudo privileges for /path/to/executable arg arg2?

  • How to make a searchable PDF document from a scan AND a source Word document?

    Well, I have a scanned PDF with some slightly changes made by hand and a source file. I wish to make a PDF, which would be searchable (based on the text from the source, the changes would remain as they are). I am searching a free (and even better - portable) software which would allow me to somehow "combine" the images from a scan and the text from the source DOC file. So it SEEMS like the image is selectable and searchable.

  • Windows GPO default mapped drives

    Is there a way, using Windows GPO, to set up a list of "default" mapped drives that can be applied to a group of users? I runs small network and would like to make sure that certain groups of users (like Sales or Support) have the same network shares mapped to the same drive letters irrespective of which PC they log onto. This would make the setup of new users easier and allow the centralised administration of the network locations shared. Any links to examples and/or step-by-step guides would be greatly appreciated.

    With Active Directory, what is a good way to monitor replication? I have multiple sites and multiple locations, so ideally both replication between sites and within sites would be monitored. I'm not really sure if each DC needs to be monitored, each NTDS connection, or each DC * Each NTDS connection. For the purposes of fitting into a standard alerting methodology, perfmon counters that would allow me to alert if replication was behind X minutes seems like it might be ideal.

  • unable to connect site to different port

    I have a domain was registered at godaddy named http://mysite.com/. I logged into godaddy and I went to All Products Domains Domain Management. I clicked on the appropriate domain and it took me to the Domain Details page. I clicked Launch under DNS Manager and it took me to the Zone File Editor. I noticed that notify.mysite.com was pointing to an IP address pointing to a dead server, so I switched it to an operating server. Then I pinged the domain to see where it was pointing to and it was correctly pointing to the working server. So I copied the default configuration under sites-available: sudo cp default notify.mysite.com. And then I made some edits to it to have it point to a different document root to serve files at a different port: Listen 1740 Listen 64.135.xx.xxx:1740 #I also tried this as well: NameVirtualHost 64.135.xx.xxx:1740 <VirtualHost 64.135.xx.xxx:1740> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName notify.mysite.com DocumentRoot /var/www/test/public <Directory /var/www/test/public> Order allow,deny allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log LogLevel warn CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/access.log combined </VirtualHost> Then I enabled the virtual host. Then I went to the document root and added an index.html file with some text in it. Then I restarted apache. The restart gave no errors. Then I type the correct domain in URL: http://notify.mysite.com:1740/ and I get: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to notify.mysite.com:1740 Somehow it took out all my other sites. Now even the ones that were responding on port 80 are no longe responding, even though I did not touch the virtual hosts for them. I get this message now: Oops!     I'm running a certain script that is using a non-root user to do the following... mkdir: cannot create directory `/srv/www/example.com/releases' *** [err :: 12.23.45.789] : Permission denied How would I allow user xyz to have permanent permissions to do so and still keep this web server secure? Also is it possible to make it recursive for all subfolders? I know its probably chmod something but I'm not that linux savy, thanks.

    What could be a problem that could arise if i do not have the correct hostname as my device name for the cloud server in a control panel of my hosting company basically the device name is supposedly the hostname when i created the cloud server they ensured this was my hostname for my new cloud server. but it looks like they will not allow me to use a domain name that is all digits. currently my host name in the cloud server itself is a domain name that is all digits.

  • vSphere 5.5 role permissions for viewing tags and tag assignments

    I have a role assigned to me in vSphere and this role doesn't allow me to see any vmware tags but i know that tags are being used and are assigned to VMs. In my personal lab, i'm able to reproduce this error but i'm having difficulty figuring out which permissions I need in order to query for tags and tag assignments. Ideally, I'd like to not have the set/remove tag permissions. Is this possible? thanks.

  • How to create a file on UESTUDIO FTP window when the folder it's empty?.

    When I'm editing some files ( html, css, js ) on UESTUDIO by FTP I'm able to browser folders, create new files on existing folders, but when I create a new folder and try to create a new file it won't allow me to select the "create new file" choice on the menu. Also, if I uncheck the "Show current directory only" option, then the menu to create folders and files on the current one ( that worked before ) disapears and I'm unable to use it. I would like to run the computer as a box that boots, displays no bios or boot information, then moves immediately to run one program full-screen without allowing the user to interact. It seems like there should be some base configurations that allow this or a special version of Windows that is configured to minimize extraneous display and control.

    My company uses Juniper networks for vpn access. I am unable to get the juniper network connect client to work on windows 7 64-bit. It used to work before but after I formatted my system it gives the following error every time I start the vpn client If I check the logs I see this error The Juniper Network Connect Service service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly.

  • Proxy within a proxy, tunneling?

    At work there is a proxy that (understandably) blocks all ports except web ones. However, during lunch hours you are allowed to play online games. But as ports are blocked, multiplayer games are out of the question. So I was wondering, could I set up a tunnel on a web port, that would then allow me to access those blocked ports, through the port 80 tunnel whilst still being behind the work proxy? This is in a Windows environment.

  • Maximum number of outgoing VPN connections?

    I'm working on a project where we would like to have around 50 outgoing (not incoming) VPN connections. We could use PPTP or IPSEC. Security isn't an issue, we control all the sites and users won't have access. Windows Server appears to have a limit of 5 outgoing connections. Does anyone know if it's possible to tweak it to allow more? Or can we get this many outgoing VPN connections with Linux?

  • iptables management utility (character based): Suggestions?

    I need IPTables , like everyone else, but I don't use it enough to really keep my knowledge complete and fresh. The setup utility in centos is too basic (doesn't seem to allow me to open up custom ports, just standard ones). Suggestions of a tool or utility to simply iptables management?     I have some applications that I open from time to time, and I always get this UAC message with Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer? Is there a way I can mark a single program so that won't ask me that again? Like, I think it is good that it asks me the first time, but some programs I do launch more often, and I am ok with them making changes and don't want to be asked all the time.
