• How do I display and calculate numbers from a database on iPhone?

  I am new to designing apps and have a basic understand of Ob-C and how everything works. What I would like to do is have two tabs, one is a home screen that displays numbers and percentages that are entered on the second tab. The user will be able to store that information and refer back to it and update it. What is the best way to complete that math from the database to the "home screen"? Any tutorials, advice is great! Thanks.

  I'm following a guide (http://www.jsparrowhawk.com/blog/?p=75) on how to use the As3IsoLib library. It seems his examples are a little erroneous at times. I'm at the part of creating a sprite, assigning it an image and then rendering. • java: communication between threads

  I'm making a little java game in which I would have two threads (well as the FIRST step towards multithreading...), one for the logic and one for the drawing. So my question is: How can I make those two communicating which each other? Requirements: accessing variables and object from a another thread syncing them so they each complete a same number of "loops" in the same time. (the logic calculates and then the another one draws the results and the loop begins again...) So how is this achievable in java? Thanks in advance!

  Hi experts, I am trying to read an excel 2003 file which consist of 62 columns and 2000 rows and then draw 2d dendrogram from 2000 pattern of 2 categories of a data as my plot in matlab. • how to convert legacy query to ActiveRecord Rails way

  I have a query in my code as below @sqladdpayment = "INSERT INTO payments (orderid, ttlprodcost, paytype, paystatus,created_at,updated_at,userid,storeid) VALUES ('" + session[:ordersid] + "', '" + session[:totalcost] + "', '" + "1"+ "', '" + "complete" +"',current_date, current_date, '"+"1"+"','"+ "1"+"')" Here the table payments and primary key is orderid. Now, I know if I convert this to the ActiveRecord way then I will not have to put update_date, current_date because it will put that on it's own. It will also put orderid on it's own also (auto_increment). I am looking for a way to convert the above query to ActiveRecord Rails way but still be able to put orderid on my own (session[:ordersid]). I do not want to rely on auto_increment because then I will have to refactor lot of the other code. This might be a quick and dirty fix but I want to know whether this type of flexibility is offered in rails? I have wondered about this question many times. Why won't rails allow me to have that flexibility?

• Best way to notify several java applets/applications of a change on a server

  I need to know the best (fastest) way to have a server (preferably a php based one, but a jsp/servlet one could be set up as well using google app engine) notify several java applets/applications that a change has occurred to the data. The way i am picturing this to work will be very similar to that of the way i think an online java game (like Runescape) works User 1: Changes data on server. Server: returns success to User 1, notifies connected computers of change. Connected Computer 1: processes change, returns success to server. Connected Computer 2: processes change, returns success to server. Connected Computer 3: processes change, returns success to server. Connected Computer 4: processes change, returns success to server. I am hoping to have this entire process complete in half a second, and not involve polling as there will be long durations of nothing, followed by a sudden moment where 4 events happen in succession.

  I have a schedule checker that needs to run until a user presses a key to make it stop. My thoughts on doing this are as follows: The user starts the process Process runs every 10 seconds When the process is not running, Console.ReadLine(); gives the user the option to press "q" to stop the process My approach would work fine except the user would have to wait however long the process takes to complete before being able to stop it. Is there any way to simultaneously run the process while being able to take a user input?

  I wanted some advice about pursuing a graduate program. I was recently accepted into a masters in computer science but I do have about 2 years of pre-reqs to complete. However, I attained my undergrad in information systems. I originally applied to computer science because I felt it provided me with more technical knowledge necessary in today's market.   Hi, I have this PHP piece of code that gets $_GET['id'] (a number) and do some stuff with this. When its finished I need to increase that number ($_GET['id']) and redirect to the same page but with the new number (also using $_GET['id']). I am doing something like this: $ID = $_GET['id']; // Some stuff here // and then: $newID = $ID++; header('Location: http://localhost/something/something.php?id='.$newID); exit; The problem here is that the browser stop me from doing it and I get this error from the browser (Firefox) : "The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." Some help here please!

I've searched for opensource projects to look and the only thing I had found was django-cashflow. This app uses python-money. • How to improve the speed of a loop containing a sqlalchemy query statement as conditional

  This loop checks if a record is in the sqlite database and builds a list of dictionaries for those records that are missing and then executes a multiple insert statement with the list. This works but it is very slow (at least i think it is slow) as it takes 5 minutes to loop over 3500 queries.   How do we know when enumeration is finished? The docs say: the return value of nextObject is nil when all objects have been enumerated. I was hoping to implement some "delegate-like" behavior whereby ... if (nextObject == nil) { do something because we're done! } But I see there is no such thing as: enumerationDidFinish: where in the following block could I check for the enumerator to be complete?   hi, I want to customize my Drupal back-end forms. I'm using template.php file.. i.e. $form['menu']['#collapsed'] = true; $form['author']['#collapsed'] = true; $form['buttons']['#weight'] = 100; But I was wondering from where the section names (menu, author, buttons), come from. (They are not id or classes in html code, so I guess there is an index with all names stored somewhere. Where can I get the complete list of section names ? Furthermore, I've added a taxonomy-super-select-checkboxes section by installing the module. How can I refer to this section, to make the field not collapsed. thanks

In order to write a complete test script that branches the flow based on the some presence of some content in the popup window, I need to write a simple if condition that does something like if document.getElementById("xyz").value - that will run on the popup window and not the parent window. Any ideas on how to accomplish this? currently, the condition fails because it runs on the parent window. Also, how to extract some text from the dom and spit it out to a file at the end of the test?

• C# Multi threading- Move objects between threads

  Hi, i am working with a winforms control that is both a GUI element and also does some internal processing that has not been exposed to the developer. When this component is instantiated it may take between 5 and 15 seconds to become ready so what i want to do is put it on another thread and when its done bring it back to the gui thread and place it on my form. The problem is that this will (and has) cause a cross thread exception. Normally when i work with worker threads its just with simple data objects i can push back when processing is complete and then use with controls already on the main thread but ive never needed to move an entire control in this fashion. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how? If not how does one deal with a problem like this where there is the potential to lock the main gui?

  I'm having problems in IE6 and 7 with a div that doesn't complete the bottom padding that is attributed to it, so doesn't appear to finish the div down to the white content area like required. • Actionscript: Switching back into previous function from event handler function

  I need to return to my original function after capturing an event (downloading something) with another function. The original function needs to return a value, which depends on the downloaded data. So, I'd like to pause original function for the time needed for the download and the eventhandler function to complete it's work, and resume it afterwards. The obvious way is to set a flag value (both the original function and the eventhandler are within the same class) and make the original function check it until the eventhandler function changes the flag. But that would be wasteful, and my AS is slow enough already:) [other parts of the application utilise some heavy graphics]. Is there another way? Like an event that gets captured "in the middle" of the function? Or some other form of flow control?
