• Does Java Mac OSX native look and feel respect UIManager font changes?

  I have a java applet and the only look and feel that works properly is the native mac one. I wanted to make the fonts a bit larger and tried using the standard UIManager methods UIManager.put("Label.font", new Font("Georgia", Font.PLAIN, 18)); This produces no change. It does not throw an exception, of course. Does anyone know if the native mac look and feel ignores these? I know there are specific ways to make controls different sizes on mac but these only seem to make them smaller. You cannot make the controls larger than regular.

• Zooming to UIView and it's sub-views

  Hi, I have a UIView which I can zoom to (as it is set as a subview of UIScrollView). UIView has UILabel, UITextField, etc. If I just zoom to the UIView, then of course label and text field get fuzzy (the same effect if you are zooming to the image file without changing image resolution). To solve the problem I need to increase the font size and sizes of the UILable and UITextField in according to the scale used to zoom in (scale is passed as a param by the UIScrollView). This is where I am getting confused. Changing frame (by increasing it width and height by zooming scale) I get all my elements (sub-views) repositions (because changing frame effects center and bounds) Question: 1. What would I need to do to zoom in to the sub-views and just increase the sub-view sizes while keeping them in the exactly the same position? thanks

• Load different views depending on the category of data on tap of tableview cell iPhone sdk

  Hi all, In my aplication, I want a tableview with different cell structure depending upon the category of data that's getting loaded in it [I have different categories like video, editorial etc with different structure of data like video has a single label, editorial has 3 labels etc]. I can load different nib files based on the data coming from xml parser. Now when the cell is tapped, I want to show its detailed view on a new viewController. So my question is is it possible to use only 1 viewController show different fields depending upon the category of data in the cell. Or do I need to create different viewControllers for each of the categories?

• httpCookie cause the page not to load

  I'm using VS 2010, vb.net and asp 3.5. I have a simple default.aspx page that has Dim ctx As HttpContext = HttpContext.Current Dim cookie As HttpCookie = ctx.Request.Cookies("SessionGUID") Me.lbl1.Text = cookie.Value.ToString the page loads fine when running it from within VS, but when i build the site and run the page, it doesn't load.. it doesn't give me an error, but nothing shows up. This is what the view source looks like HTMLHEAD META content="text/html; charset=windows-1252" http-equiv=Content-Type/HEAD BODY/BODY/HTML I took out the < in the tags so that it would display here... If i take out the Me.lbl1.Text = cookie.Value.ToString the page loads fine.. All i'm putting to the page is some text and the label control. anyone have any ideas

• Method of getting text on a windows form ( unmanaged C++ project )

  I'm in the process of learning C++. I've created a boilerplate Win32 app within VC++ 2008. I've studied through the code and am ready do do a bit of experimenting. I thought it would be cool to print all the windows messages received in the message loop to the form created via the boilerplate code. I for the life of me, can't figure out the method of getting text onto that form. I can't seem to identify and named object that I can use to reference that damn form. The best I can figure is I need to use the handle to reference the form somehow. Still, even if I did know how to reference the form, I'm not sure I know how I would create a label to display the text. Anyway, if someone could just point out what methodology I need to learn to make this happen it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Donovan

• Rails table inheritance issue

  I've setup some models in the table inheritance fashion and everything seems to be all fine and dandy. But, when I use a collection select field to select values from one of the models it saves it but it saves the ID of the data and not the actual value of the data. So when I try to display the value on the show view it just shows the corresponding ID and not the actual value. Here is my setup. I'm using formtastic as a side note.   I'm new to Devise and have it working fine by using an email address as the authentication key. However, I have a use case which requires a username instead and I can't seem to get it working. I've added a string column, "username" to the users table, changed the fields from :email to :username in the sign-in form, and have changed the authentication key in devise.rb to :username yet when I go to sign in I'm met with this prompt: "Please enter an email address". Basically, I want to have the text in the section the figure is in wrap around it, but when I compile it my figure ends up being farther down the page next to text in another section. 1.   I have code that's working beautifully on my development machine, but when deployed to the server is throwing null reference exception. So, I can't step through the code, but I've pinned down the culprit. But now I am puzzled. Here's the code. The question is below.   I am attempting to use a Canvas to create a simple Cad application. I have been able to get lines to draw as I want. For now the only other thing I need is text. The user should be able to edit the text in place. ?Is one of these better to use for this over the others? Since the app is in essence a cad application, text will be added, deleted, and altered often, so I am not attempting to put these in XAML, but code-behind. • IE's responseXML.getElementsByTagName() unable to handle non English character ?

  I have a javascript that does this (http is your XMLHttpRequest object) var r = http.responseXML.getElementsByTagName('item'); The issue is variable r is always an empty list if the response contains non-English character (r.length is 0). The response header is correctly set Content-Type: text/xml;charset=ISO-8859-1 This is what the response from the webserver looks like <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <d> <r> <item value="jmob" label="John Möb"/> </r> </d> It happens only in IE (both IE6 and IE8), works in Firefox and Chrome. If items contain only English characters, it works fine. Is there a workaround for this ?

• UITableView performance degrading after adding subviews on cell iphone sdk

  Hi all, In my application, I'm adding a label and two buttons on cell of UItableView [I have not created a separate cell class]. I'm adding these to cell and not cell.contentview. After I run my application on IPhone, the tableview cell rendering after I move the cells up-down, is very jerky. Is it because I'm not adding the views on cell.contentView or because I've not created a custom class for cell? Can anybody please help? Thanks in advance.

• Html how to make a part on iframe, unvisible and unclickable externally? (my idea)

  I have a page (A) including a BUTTON with a function close_window() , however when I embed A to my main page (B) using iframe, the close_window() can't work as expected since there is no more window anymore, and I am not able to remove the button from the iframe since A is on another domain (Security issues prevents). What I want to do is make this button label invisible. And the only way I think is to put a white image just to the place where that button exists on my iframe, externally. is Smthing like that possible? I want the image to be on the top of iframe?   I have a set of 100 observations where each observation has 45 characteristics. And each one of those observations have a label attached which I want to predict based on those 45 characteristics. So it's an input matrix with the dimension 45 x 100 and a target matrix with the dimension 1 x 100. The thing is that I want to know how many of those 45 characteristics are relevant in my set of data, basically the principal component analysis, and I understand that I can do this with Matlab function processpca. Could you please tell me how can I do this? Suppose that the input matrix is x with 45 rows and 100 columns and y is a vector with 100 elements.

• Comparing Page.User.Identity.Name to value in sql Table

  First, I am SO sorry if the answer is out there. I've looked and looked and feel this is such a simple thing that it should be obvious. I'm wanting to make sure only the person who added an event can modify it. Simple! I already have a datasource that has event_added_by as a data point. It is populating a FormView. SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [tbl_events] WHERE ([event_ID] = @event_ID)" And I have Page.User.Identity.Name. How do I compare the two?
