  • c++ strings and file input

    - by Dalton Conley
    Ok, its been a while since I've done any file input or string manipulation but what I'm attempting to do is as follows while(infile >> word) { for(int i = 0; i < word.length(); i++) { if(word[i] == '\n') { cout << "Found a new line" << endl; lineNumber++; } if(!isalpha(word[i])) { word.erase(i); } if(islower(word[i])) word[i] = toupper(word[i]); } } Now I assume this is not working because skips the new line character?? If so, whats a better way to do this.

  • Patterns for avoiding jQuery silent fails

    - by Matias
    Is there any good practice to avoid your jQuery code silently fail? For example: $('.this #is:my(complexSelector)').doSomething(); I know that every time this line get executed, the selector is intended to match at least one element, or certain amount of elements. Is there any standard or good way to validate that? I thought about something like this: var $matchedElements = $('.this #is:my(complexSelector)'); if ($matchedElements.length < 0) throw 'No matched elements'; $matchedElements.doSomething(); Also I think unit testing would be a valid option instead of messing the code. My question may be silly, but I wonder whether there is a better option than the things that I'm currently doing or not. Also, maybe I'm in the wrong way checking if any element match my selector. However, as the page continues growing, the selectors could stop matching some elements and pieces of functionality could stop working inadvertently.

  • Pick Random String From Array

    - by atrljoe
    How do I go about picking a random string from my array but not picking the same one twice. string[] names = { "image1.png", "image2.png", "image3.png", "image4.png", "image5.png" }; Is this possible? I was thinking about using return strings[random.Next(strings.Length)]; But this has the possibility of returning the same string twice. Or am I wrong about this? Should I be using something else like a List to accomplish this. Any feedback is welcome.

  • get js file query param from inside it

    - by vsync
    I load this file with some query param like this: src='somefile.js?userId=123' I wrote the below function in 'somefile.js' file that reads the 'userId' query param but I feel this is not the best approach. Frankly, its quite ugly. Is there a better way? function getId(){ var scripts = document.getElementsByTagName('script'), script; for(var i in scripts){ if( scripts.hasOwnProperty(i) && scripts[i].src.indexOf('somefile.js') != -1 ) var script = scripts[i]; } var s = (script.getAttribute.length !== undefined) ? script.getAttribute('src') : script.getAttribute('src', 2); return getQueryParams('userId',s); };

  • How can I apply indexer to Dictionary.Values (C# 3.0)

    - by Newbie
    I have done a program string[] arrExposureValues = stock.ExposureCollection[dt].Values.ToArray(); for(int i = 0; i < arrExposureValues.Length; i++) Console.WriteLine(arrExposureValues[i]); Nothing wrong and works fine. But is it possible to do something like the below for(int i = 0; i < stock.ExposureCollection[dt].Count; i++) Console.WriteLine(stock.ExposureCollection[dt].Values[i]); This is just for my sake of knowledge (Basically trying to accomplish the same in one line). Note: ExposureCollection is Dictionary<DateTime, Dictionary<string, string>> First of all I have the doubt if it is at all possible! I am using C# 3.0. Thanks.

  • Javascript Autocomplete Text

    - by WPS
    Hi All, I need to implement an autocomplete text field using JavaScript and JSF. When the user types some character in a text field, I need to make an AJAX request and get the values based on the values entered. I've an input text field, on "keyup" I'm triggering a function which submits the value to the server side. var timeoutid = 0; function intitiateTypeAhead(){ clearTimeout(timeoutid); if (document.getElementById("inputText").value.length >= 2) { timeoutid = setTimeout('clickButton', 500); } return false; } function clickButton(){ //submits the value to the server } <h:inputText id="inputText" onkeyup="intitiateTypeAhead()"></h:inputText> This works properly, but certain times the request is made for each character entered by the user. I'm not sure if there is anything wrong with the implementation. Can someone please help me to fix this?

  • How to count the number of listitems in an asp.bulletedlist with JavaScript

    - by Andy5
    Hi I have an asp:bulletedlist control, which sits inside a div tag, and I need to count the number of list items inside the control. Searching the internet, and noting the fact the html given back by the items is a list i.e. <li>, I thought I could use an example of: var listcontrol = document.getElementById('BulletedList1'); var countItems = listcontrol.getElementByTagName('li').length; However, when I do this, it throws and error saying that no object exists for this control. So, my problem is, and because I must do this clientside because I want to use this to set the height of the div tag, is how do you count the number of items inside a asp:bulletedlist control with javascript?

  • Tool to maintain a Data Mapping between two systems

    - by ktaylorjohn
    We have XML interfaces between multiple systems. An Enterprise Domain Model is missing in the overall architecture, hence the terms Product/Customer/User means different things to different systems. We currently use excel sheets to map the elements in incoming XML to what the actual Field means within our system. Additionally, it contains the values of Mandatory/Optional and length of each field. We call this the Data Dictionary. Any changes to the XML go through rounds of deliberation and updates to Word and Excel documents. Is there a better way to do this? Any tool/GUI based approach which all systems and owners can view?

  • Javascript array value is undefined ... how do I test for that

    - by Ankur
    I am trying to test to see whether a Javascript variable is undefined. You will see that I am not expecting the value of predQuery[preId] to be 'undefined' if I don't first get an alert saying "its unbelievable". But I often do, so I am guessing that my statement predQuery[preId]=='undefined') is not matching the undefined elements properly. if((predQuery.length < preId) || (predQuery[preId]=="") || (predQuery[preId]=='undefined')){ alert("its unbelievable"); alert(predQuery[preId]); queryPreds[variables] = preId; queryObjs[variables] = objId; predQuery[preId] = variables; } else { alert(predQuery[preId]); var predIndex = predQuery[preId]; queryPreds[predIndex] = preId; queryObjs[predIndex] = objId; } I can add more code if needed.

  • Draw text with in a rect with given width

    - by Forchita
    I'm trying to draw text on NSView subclass. I'm using an NSTextStorage, an NSLayoutManager, and an NSTextContainer. I followed Apple's doc and here's the method I use to calculate the necessary height for each text: NSSize newSize= NSMakeSize(width, 0.0); NSLayoutManager* layoutManager= [[textStorage layoutManagers] objectAtIndex:0]; NSTextContainer* textContainer= [[layoutManager textContainers] objectAtIndex:0]; [textContainer setContainerSize:newSize]; [textStorage addAttribute:NSFontAttributeName value:font range:NSMakeRange(0, [textStorage length])]; [textContainer setLineFragmentPadding:0.0]; [layoutManager glyphRangeForTextContainer:textContainer]; return [layoutManager usedRectForTextContainer:textContainer].size.height; The only problem is that I don't know how to draw in an NSRect with the layout manager. Can you help me please? Thanks in advance!

  • Javascript looping only through defined properties of array. How?

    - by Beck
    For example if i'm keeping array of references via id like that: if(typeof channel_boards[misc.channel_id] == 'undefined') { channel_boards[misc.channel_id] = $('<div class="channel" channel_id="'+misc.channel_id+'"></div>').appendTo('#board'); } And then i'm looping through array to find required reference. I'm looping through undefined properties as well. Is it possible to loop only through defined properties? for(i=0;i<channel_boards.length;i++) { if(channel_boards[i] != undefined) { if(channel_boards[i].attr('channel_id') != visible) {channel_boards[i].addClass('hidden_board');} else {channel_boards[i].removeClass('hidden_board');} } } Maybe i should change the way i'm storing references? Via object for example, but how i'll be able to find proper reference via id number.

  • Write a row to Google Spreadsheet programmically javascript

    - by Verber
    I'm trying to find a way to insert a row into a google spreadsheet dynamically. I have a list of objects that has all the data for every column in a row. I'm just trying to run a for loop and then send the data to the row in the spread sheet. But the spreadsheet is completely empty. So I don't know if that creates certain problems or not. for(var j=0; j < masterList.length; j++) { //tried this one but it didn't pan out sheet.appendRow([ masterList[j].Date, masterList[j].Name, masterList[j].Bugs, masterList[j].Enhancements, masterList[j].Epic, masterList[j].DevOps, masterList[j].High ]); }

  • Compare text with innerHTML IE7 problem

    - by Beefo
    I can't find a work around for the innerHTML bug in IE7. I need to look at the contents of dynamicly generated HTML and change it if the text is "-1". I'm using the prototype js gallery but couldn't find a fix. Any ideas? JS: <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> Event.observe(window, 'load', function () { var num = 1; var allAccountInfoItems = $A('accountInfoItem'); var numofElements = (allAccountInfoItems.length); for (var x = 0; x < numofElements; x++ ) { var oldHTML = $('accountInfo').innerHTML; var newHTML = "Unlimited"; if (oldHTML == "-1") { $('accountInfo').update(newHTML); } var oldId = $('accountInfo').id; var numPlus = num++; $('accountInfo').id = oldId + numPlus; } }); </script>

  • Asign Id's dynamically to DOM elements with javascript.

    - by jnkrois
    Hello everybody, I just have a quick question about how to generate id's on-the-fly for HTML elements. So far I've tried a few things, I started with a "for" loop, I already know how many elements I have to generate Id's for, in this case I have an "ul" with 6 "li". My "for" loop is as follows: var items = $("ul li").length; for(var i = 0; i <= items; i++){ $("ul li").attr("id", "number" + i); } "number" would be the new id concatenated with "i", so I get a different Id for each "li". As you can probably tell, this does not work, because I end up with the same Id for each "li": in this case I get <li id="number6">... </li> for all the "li" elments in the "ul". I tried a "while" loop and ".each()" with jQuery but I get the exact same thing. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Python - a clean approach to this problem?

    - by Seafoid
    Hi, I am having trouble picking the best data structure for solving a problem. The problem is as below: I have a nested list of identity codes where the sublists are of varying length. li = [['abc', 'ghi', 'lmn'], ['kop'], ['hgi', 'ghy']] I have a file with two entries on each line; an identity code and a number. abc 2.93 ghi 3.87 lmn 5.96 Each sublist represents a cluster. I wish to select the i.d. from each sublist with the highest number associated with it, append that i.d. to a new list and ultimately write it to a new file. What data structure should the file with numbers be read in as? Also, how would you iterate over said data structure to return the i.d. with the highest number that matches the i.d. within a sublist? Thanks, S :-)

  • Finding the most similar numbers across multiple lists in Python

    - by new_sysadmin
    In Python, I have 3 lists of floating-point numbers (angles), in the range 0-360, and the lists are not the same length. I need to find the triplet (with 1 number from each list) in which the numbers are the closest. (It's highly unlikely that any of the numbers will be identical, since this is real-world data.) I was thinking of using a simple lowest-standard-deviation method to measure agreement, but I'm not sure of a good way to implement this. I could loop through each list, comparing the standard deviation of every possible combination using nested for loops, and have a temporary variable save the indices of the triplet that agrees the best, but I was wondering if anyone had a better or more elegant way to do something like this. Thanks!

  • problem with live function

    - by Dirty Bird Design
    I had this working to spec, until the specs changed. This function is now brought in via ajax .load. Easy enough to bring it in and I have all my other functions on the page that is brought in working in the parent page except this one: $("#CME").hide(); $(function() { $("#CME1, #CMEQL, #CBT1, #CBTQL, #NYM1, #CMX1").live("change", function(){ var checkBoxes = $("#CME1, #CMEQL, #CBT1, #CBTQL, #NYM1, #CMX1").filter(":not(:checked)"); if(checkBoxes.length == 0){ $("#CME").slideDown("fast"); } else { $("#CME").slideUp("fast"); } }); the div "#CME" is not hidden and the .live('change', function () { isn't working. I have other similar .live functions that are working and structured the same. How do I bind the initial $(function() with .live and why isn't the .hide() working? });//CME

  • Converting java language output to Joomla language output

    - by jax
    in java if I run : Locale.getDefault().toString() I get zh_tw I am sending this to a joomla site and setting the language like this: $lang = &JFactory::getLanguage(); $lang->setLanguage( $_GET['lang'] ); $lang->load(); however the site requires the following format zh-TW It appears that if it is not in that exact format the language will not change. Is there a function somewhere in java or php that will convert the format for me? I realise that I could write the method myself like this: public static String convertLanguageToJoomlaFormat(String lang) { String[] parts = lang.split("_"); if(parts.length ==2) return parts[0]+"-"+parts[1].toUpperCase(); return lang; } but am unsure if there are any cases where the format changes for particular languages.
