    As far as I know there are two "kinds" of breadcrumbs. The static/hierarchy one Works like a stack Entries are pushed when a user goes "deeper" into the site Entries are poped when user goes "up" into the site Is the same for all users (for a given page) Shows location rather than history A simple Example would be HOME - BIG CATEGORY - SMALL CATEGORY - ARTICLE The dynamic/historical one Works like a queue Entries are pushed at the end when a user goes to another page Entries are removed from the front when the maximum size is reached Is different for each user, since it is personalized. Shows timeline/history instead of location. A simple example would be SMALL CATEGORY - HOME - BIG CATEGORY - HOME The question is: Are there any ready-made JSF component for these types of navigation?

  • Why are my basic Heroku Apps Taking 2 seconds to load?

    I have created two very simple heroku apps to test out the service, but it's often taking several seconds to load the page when I first visit them: Cropify - Basic Sinatra App (on github) Textile2HTML - Even more basic Sinatra App (on github) All I did was create a simple sinatra app and deploy it. I haven't done anything to mess with or test the heroku servers. What can I do to improve response time? It's very slow right now and I'm not sure where to start. The code for the projects are on github if that helps. Thanks so much.

The NotSpecification seems simple at first: NotSpecification.IsSpecialCaseOf(otherSpecification) return !this.specification.isSpecialCaseOf(otherSpecification) But it doesn't work for all Specifications: Not(LesserThan(5)).IsSpecialCaseOf(GreaterThan(4)) This should be true. So far I think that the only way to accomplish the isSpecialCaseOf the NotSpecification is to implement the remainderUnsatisfiedBy (partial subsumption in the paper on the specification pattern). But maybe I am missing something more simple or a logical insight that makes this unnecessary. Question: Is there another way of implementing this by not using remainderUnsatisfiedBy?

    Hi, Im learning rails and exploring a bit away from the book and creating a simple application with added functionality as i increase my knowledge. Im writing a simple blog application and i have a field in the form called date added, i don't want this to be a field i want it to get the date from the server and place it in to the database automatically. How would i go about doing this? I was thinking of a hidden field but then unsure on how to process the date and insert it to the hidden field. Is this the wrong way of going about things?   • Attaching a List of Value [LOV] to an existing page item in APEX

    I'm pretty new to APEX ( well, just started using it ~an hour ago), and I'm stuck at a pretty basic level. I've created a simple form with all the required fields. I've created a simple LOV. I can't seem to figure out how to Attach the LOV to the existing item. I tried to attach the LOV by heading over to the item's property and selecting the LOV I created, but it just doesn't seem to attach. Is this a bug with APEX or am I doing something wrong ? I'm using APEX 4.0 EA 2 [ http://tryapexnow.com ]

  • Allowing Remote Connection in IIS on Windows 7

    I'm trying to give access to a website in IIS on my Win 7 machine to another person on my network. He's unable to access it. I was wondering if perhaps it was because IIS isn't configured to allow remote connections (I seem to remember having to do this sort of thing on Win XP). I've hunted around in IIS and googled but am not finding a way to configure remote connections on Win 7. Some of the answers I've found seem to refer to Win Server 2008 and talk about a management service in IIS Manager, but it doesn't appear to be present on my machine.

  • Entity Framework - Why does EF use LEFT OUTER JOIN's in a 1-to-1 join?

    Why does .NET Entity Framework produce SQL that uses a subquery and left outer join on a simple 1-to-1 relationship? I expected to see a simple join on the two tables.     I would like to replace four aging physical servers with one virtual server. What is the best way to insure the VM server is sized correctly? The requirements of the apps that will be running on the four servers are APPLICATION SERVERS - QTY 3 - These will run the application layer for the web server, Business Objects Business Intelligence app, and various other small client server apps. The three most heavy hitting apps each have the following server requirements. So, if I bought three physical servers, this would be the requirements for each of them Processor - Dual 2.83 GHZ (or faster) Ram - 4 GB Raid 5 - 50-100GB usable space NIC - 1 GB Web Server - this will run one asp.net e-business app that will talk to our dedicated SQL server and the three app servers above. The E-Business software has these requirements for the web server Processor - Quad 2.83 GHZ (or faster) Ram - 8 GB Raid 5 - 50-100GB usable space NIC - 1 GB What is the best tool to determine what I need from a hardware standpoing in a virtual server?   • Rows dropping when I try to join data from two tables

    I have a fairly simple query I'm try to write. If I run the following query: SELECT parts.id, parts.type_id FROM parts WHERE parts.type_id=1 OR parts.type_id=2 OR parts.type_id=4 ORDER BY parts.type_id; I get all the rows I expect to be returned. Now when I try to grab the parent_unit from another table with the following query six rows suddenly drop out of the result: SELECT parts.id, parts.type_id, sp.parent_unit FROM parts, serialized_parts sp WHERE (parts.type_id=1 OR parts.type_id=2 OR parts.type_id=4) AND sp.parts_id = parts.id ORDER BY parts.type_id In the past I've never really dealt with ORs in my queries so maybe I'm just doing it wrong. That said I'm guessing it's just a simple mistake. Let me know if you need sample data and I'll post some. Thanks.

  • Is it safe to use S3 over HTTP from EC2, as opposed to HTTPS

    I found that there is a fair deal of overhead when uploading a lot of small files to S3. Some of this overhead comes from SSL itself. How safe is it to talk to S3 without SSL when running in EC2? From the awesome comments below, here are some clarifications: this is NOT a question about HTTPS versus HTTP or the sensitivity of my data. I'm trying to get a feeling for the networking and protocol particularities of EC2 and S3. For example Are we guaranteed to be passing through only the AWS network when communicating from EC2 to S3 Can other AWS users (apart from staff) sniff my communications between EC2 and S3 Is authentication on their api done on every call, and thus credentials are passed on every call? Or is there some kind of authenticated session. I am using the jets3t lib. Feedback from people with some AWS experience would be appreciated. Thanks Marc

  • How to Enable old networking protocols in Windows 7

    Hi, A few days ago I installed Win7 32bit on a PC and it wouldn't talk to my Lacie NAS which is running WinXP embedded. My other Win7 PC's had no problem. After a bit of searching I found a forum post that told me to enable older networking protocols on the Win7 PC, I think it was win98 protocols or something like that. I had to run a .msc program to do this. It fixed the problem. Now, I have a similar problem on another Win7 PC and for the life of me cannot find that posting and cannot remember what I did!     I get the following error message The table/view 'TABLE1' does not have a primary key defined and no valid primary key could be inferred. This table/view has been excluded. To use the entity you will need to review your schema, add the correct keys and uncomment it when I try to add a view to an Entity Data Model.     i have a simple web service with one method that returns List<org.company.data.mp> i've created a simple web service client and specified a web service with wsdl. in netbeans i try to call a web service operation: right click, insert code, ... and i pick my web service operation. the code gets inserted but the method's return type is not List<org.company.data.mp> but it is List<org.company.server.mp>! i don't get it.. in the package "server" there is no class called mp! i check the implementation class of my web service - it says the return type is ...data.mp not ...server.mp

    I created a LinkedServer on MS SQL Server 2005 pointing to my Active Directory. Nothing too fancy. Simple LinkedServer with ReadOnlyAdmin Account assigned to CONNECTAS Property. Then I created some storedprocedures to retreive some data from the LinkedServer. Again nothing too fancy. Just a few simple LDAP Queries. Then I created a SQL Endpoint to expose these stored procedures as Web services. Using Visual Studio 2008, everything is fine and dandy. It finds the endpoint, gets the list of the methods available and runs smoothly. Cool. But the Sharpeoint Add Web Service somehow doesn't work! It finds the WSDL file no prob. Retrieves the list of functions and parameterss n all but just simply doesn't run them! Any advice or where I should start checking?

    Hello I have the following lines in my ~/.emacs.d/init.el (custom-set-variables '(flymake-allowed-file-name-masks (quote ( ("\\.cc\\'" flymake-simple-make-init) ("\\.cpp\\'" flymake-simple-make-init))))) (add-hook 'find-file-hook 'flymake-find-file-hook) When I open a cc/cpp file that has a Makefile with the following content in the same folder I get proper on-the-fly compilation and error reporting (Flymake will check the syntax and report errors and warnings during code editing) .PHONY: check-syntax check-syntax: $(CXX) -Wall -Wextra -pedantic -fsyntax-only $(CHK_SOURCES) The problem is that when I open a .cc file that has no corresponding Makefile i get an annoying dialog box that warns me about flymake being disabled for every file opened. Is there some hook I can use to disable that warning? Can you provide sample elisp code and explanation on how you found the proper hook?

It seems like it should be simple, but I haven't been able to find what looked like equivalent code anywhere.   • Stream a continously growing file over tcp/ip

    Hello, I have a project I'm working on, where a piece of Hardware is producing output that is continuously being written into a textfile. What I need to do is to stream that file as it's being written over a simple tcp/ip connection. I'm currently trying to that through simple netcat, but netcat only sends the part of the file that is written at the time of execution. It doesn't continue to send the rest. Right now I have a server listening to netcat on port 9000 (simply for test-purposes): netcat -l 9000 And the send command is: netcat localhost 9000 < c:\OUTPUTFILE So in my understanding netcat should actually be streaming the file, but it simply stops once everything that existed at the beginning of the execution has been sent. It doesn't kill the connection, but simply stops sending new data. How do I get it to stream the data continuously? Thanks for any help!

  • Can a virtual mikrotik box bridge a hyper-v internal network with a hyper-v external network?

    I am trying to set up a Mikrotik router as a transparent firewall on my network. I got the machine working on a hardware MT box, but my boss wants the MT virtualized. I have been trying the set up where my virtual windows box talks to the Mikrotik via private or internal network on the Hyper-V host. I can get the two machines to talk, but as soon as I set up a bridge on the MT, all traffic ceases between the two. Is it possible to create a bridge for this purpose (having the MT silently in front of my firewalled server)? I could really use some help.
