• Python/Django: Which authorize.net library should I use?

  I need authorize.net integration for subscription payments, likely using CIM. The requirements are simple - recurring monthly payments, with a few different price points. Customer credit card info will be stored a authorize.net . There are quite a few libraries and code snippets around, I'm looking for recommendations as to which work best. Satchmo seems more than I need, and it looks like it's complex. Django-Bursar seems like what I need, but it's listed as alpha. The adroll/authorize library also looks pretty good. The CIM XML APIs don't look too bad, I could connect directly with them. And there are quite a few other code snippets. What's the best choice right now, given my fairly simple requirements?

It's an interview for a position of PHP programmer (the company doesn't do websites so I guess they just need somebody to administer their website). I'm expecting there will be more people at the interview and that we will be given some simple questions or tasks in PHP so they can choose. I'd like to ask if anybody has any experience with interviews like this, what should I be expecting?   At the moment I'm working through "Practical Common Lisp" from Peter Seibel. In the chapter "Practical: A Simple Database" (http://www.gigamonkeys.com/book/practical-a-simple-database.html) Seibel explains keyword parameters and the usage of a supplied-parameter with the following example: (defun foo (&key a (b 20) (c 30 c-p)) (list a b c c-p)) Results: (foo :a 1 :b 2 :c 3) ==> (1 2 3 T) (foo :c 3 :b 2 :a 1) ==> (1 2 3 T) (foo :a 1 :c 3) ==> (1 20 3 T) (foo) ==> (NIL 20 30 NIL) So if I use &key at the beginning of my parameter list, I have the possibility to use a list of 3 parameters name, default value and the third if the parameter as been supplied or not. Ok. But looking at the code in the above example: (list a b c c-p) How does the lisp interpreter know that c-p is my "supplied parameter"?

  I have always seen in python articles/books that python is simple and it has only one way of doing things. I would like someone to explain to me this concept keeping in mind the example below, if i wanted to get the min and max values of sequence i would do the following; seq=[1,2,3,4,5,6] min(seq) #1 max(seq) #6 but i can also do this; seq[:1] #1 seq[-1] #6 surely this are two ways of doing one simple thing. • OSX Menu bar doesn't appear til opening an application

  When I boot my MBP, the menu bar doesn't appear. When I open Mail.app or Safari, the menu bar appears. I've searched for a bit, and nothing seems to talk about this. Is there a way to fix this? • Zend RegEx Validator error message issue

  Hello, I'm validating a text field in my form as follows: $name = new Zend_Form_Element_Text('name'); $name->setLabel('First Name:') ->setRequired(true) ->addFilter(new Zend_Filter_StringTrim()) ->addValidator('regex',true,array('/^[(a-zA-Z0-9)]+$/')) ->addErrorMessage('Please enter a valid first name'); What I'm trying to accomplish is - how can i display a meaningful error message? Eg: If first name is 'XYZ-', how can i display '- is not allowed in first name.' Is there a way I can access what character the regex is failing for? Would you recommend something else altogether? I thought about writing a custom validator but the regex is pretty simple, so I don't see the point. I couldn't find a decent documentation for the zend 'regex' validator anywhere. If I don't override the default error message, I simple get something like : ';;;hhbhbhb' does not match against pattern '/^[(a-zA-Z0-9)]+$/' - which I obviously don't want to display to the user. I'd appreciate your inputs.

  I've just listened to Steve Gibson talk about his SpinRite software, on the Security Now podcast episode 336 (transscript). At 33:20 he says: I can show and do show on the SMART page that sectors are being relocated and that errors are being corrected. That SMART analysis page sometimes scares people because it shows, wait a minute, this thing says we're correcting so many errors per megabyte. What is this SMART page? 1) Some information saved on the HD by SMART, that I can access with a SMART tool like smartmontools? 2) A page (tab) in his SpinRite software? In any case, can I see, in any way, what sectors are marked as bad, without using SpinRite? Preferably using smartmontools!

• Audio input problem in Ubuntu 9.10

  My audio input is a mix of my mic output and my sound card output. I'd like it to be just my mic output. I was able to do so in Ubuntu 9.04 but the interface is 9.10 is totally changed and I tried every my creativity was able to think. It's really annoying when talking to other people over the internet because they keep hearing their voice back. I'm not sure I explained it in clear way so I'll give you an example: What I do: I put an mp3 on play or a video on youtube then open a recorder and start to talk on my mic. What happens: both my voice and audio from mp3/youtube get reordered, even if I put headphones volume to 0 (via hardware). What I'd like to happen: Only my voice should be recorded. I'm sure I'm missing some technical term, but that's the problem and I'd like to solve it in Ubuntu 9.10, any idea?

  Hello guys, i have a web form who send post variables like: <form action="teacher.php" method="post"> <input name="pass" type="password"> <input name="quiere" type="image" value="submit" src="IMG/unlock-32.png" /> </from> In the same page i check for a submit acction with php doing a simple isset check like: "if (isset($_POST['quiere'])) {" But if you do this in IE the post var "QUIERE" (the button var) does not post, the others vars are fine, and if you try this simple form in any other browser it works. I only get this form function well in IE changing the button for a normal button, instead of a image button like: <input name="quiere" type="submit" value="submit" /> In this way, the var "quiere" get post. So, what do you think? and sorry for my english.

• Why is my Mac beeping at me in a Sprint-Nextel-PTT kind of way?

  I'm really stumped about this one. Before on OSX 10.5 and now on OSX 10.6, my Mac occasionally beeps at me. It's a split-second "bee-bee-beep" that sounds vaguely similar to the push-to-talk beep you hear on Sprint/Nextel PTT commercials. I haven't been able to isolate what's running when it happens or what happens before it happens. Possible culprits are Quicksilver, Firefox, DropBox, Evernote helper, TrueCrypt, Wally. Any thoughts?   192.168.3.1(ASA) - 192.168.2.1(ASA) - ( internet ) - 192.168.1.1(ASA) DomainController, FS, Exchange 192.168.0.1(ASA) - above is a rough idea what my network setup looks like. each internal ip (192.168.x.x) is located behind an ASA. Each location has a different gateway for the internet. They all talk to the 192.168.1.1 network for dns, dhcp, dc, exchange and so on. They can only see the 192.168.1.1, they can not see each other. In my Static Routes on my 192.168.1.1 ASA, should i have them configure as follows? example: 192.168.x.x 255.255.255.0 Locations_Internet_Gateway_IP OR 192.168.x.x 255.255.255.0 Main_Locations_Internet_Gateway_IP not sure which configurtation is correct, thanks in advance for any help!

• Can I use some combination of HttpHandler and HttpModule to create an asynchronous file upload?

  I am trying to write a simple asynchronous file upload control for ASP.Net. I've tried a few implementations out there (AjaxControl Toolkit Async Upload, Telerik RadAsyncUpload, AjaxUploader, Uploadify, etc.), but they all leave me wanting something more. I'd rather not use a Flash component, a simple throbber would be OK. Some don't have client side call backs. I figure you can make an http module that checks the request form's enctype and files collection on BeginRequest and save those files to disk. Then somehow use an httpHandler to poll the module's status but I can't quite figure out how to put it all together asynchronously. Can you help me arrange the pieces?

• High CPU Usage with WebGL?

  I'm checking out the nightly builds of Firefox and Chromium with support of WebGL with a few demos and tutorials and I can't help but wonder about the extremely high CPU load they cause. A simple demo like this one runs at a sustained 60% of my dual core. The large version of this one maxes out the CPU to 100% and has some visible frame loss. Chromium seems to be slightly better than firefox but not by much. I'm pretty sure that if these were desktop application the CPU load would be negligible. So what's going on here? what is it doing? Running the simple scripts of these can't be that demanding. Is it the extra layer of security or something?

• How to find connected hosts at network (vpn or lan)

  Hello, I'm looking for possible solutions to the following need: I have a VPN configured (using openVPN over Linux, BTW), and I want to know at any moment which hosts are connected to it. I recognize that it probably is the same thing as trying to know which hosts are connected to a lan, so any of the solutions might do the job... The fact is that I once used a hamachi vpn on linux and with it I had the chance to know which hosts were connected to a particular network where I belonged, so I was wondering if something similar might be possible in openVPN (or even any VPN and/or any LAN). Preferably, I'm looking for opensource/free sw solutions, or maybe the hints to program it myself (in the most simple way if possible, not that I don't know how to program, but I'm trying to achieve this in a simple manner). • Dice face value recognition

  I’m trying to build a simple application that will recognize the values of two 6-sided dice. I’m looking for some general pointers, or maybe even an open source project. The two dice will be black and white, with white and black pips respectively. Their distance to the camera will always be the same, but their position on the playing surface will be random. (not the best example, the surface will be a different color and the shadows will be gone) I have no prior experience with developing this kind of recognition software, but I would assume the trick is to first isolate the faces by searching for the square profile with a dominating white or black color (the rest of the image, i.e. the table/playing surface, will in distinctly different colors), and then isolate the pips for the count. Shadows will be eliminated by top down lighting. I’m hoping the described scenario is so simple (read: common) it may even be used as an “introductory exercise” for developers working on OCR technologies or similar computer vision challenges.

  Hi SO folks, I didn't managed to find an Lua client/api for TokyoTyrant. Such Api exists for TokyoCabinet, but not for TT. And Perl and Ruby API exists for TT. TT provides a native binary protocol, a memcached-compatible protocol, and an HTTP-oriented protocol. So my questions are : 1/ Do you think using the memcached (using luamemcached) or the HTTP protocol (using luaSocket) is "enough" for most / simple usage, and so a native Lua api is not necessary ? (the app is a simple uuid storage/distributor) ? 2/ Does it make sense to not use TokyoTyrant, but only TokyoCabinet, and use Lua at the application level to provide network and concurrent access to TC, using, say, Copas (Copas is , from their website, "a dispatcher based on coroutines that can be used by TCP/IP servers." ?   I want to make a simple examing application on RoR 2.3. The problem area is to make an exam_session in a one form with only one submit action. For the exam session there are selected some number of questions from the question pool in random order. For these questions there are selected some number of alternatives (to check is this a single answer question or multi answer question I use the number of correct alternatives: if only 1 - single, 1 - multi. Radiobuttons or checkboxes in form to answer depends on it). I have models: Questions ---< Alternative and ExamSession. I think there must be has_many :through relations between ExamSession and Questions and has_many :through relation between the intermediate table (for example QuestionsExamSession) and Alternative to point what alternatives are answers of the student on this Question. So the questions are: Is this scheme is too complicated and there is a way to do it simple and clear? Is there any way to organize models in such a way to make the form I want to work?

My task: I have simple Qt program and I need to select any image file from the local host and upload it to the server. The selection part and GUI is simple and I have already done it, but with POST uploading I'm confused. In addition I have to say, that there is no authorization to upload file.   I've read on wikipedia and other sites about OSGi, but I don't really see the big picture. It says that it's a component based platform, and that you can reload modules at runtime. Also the "practical example" given everywhere is the Eclipse Plugin Framework. My questions are: 1) What is the CLEAR and SIMPLE definition of OSGi? 2) What COMMON PROBLEMS does it solve?
