    I have a few questions about python I've seen many pages like these on Google http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=6583 https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/topic.py?topic=13488 ...that have .py extensions. 1: Are pages like these built on pure python code, but printing out html like print "<div etc..." or like the typical asp,jsp,php type of pages with html pages and embedded python code like: <html> <% some python code %> </html> 2: What is python mainly used for making? windows apps or web or .. ? 3: Are ruby and perl also similar to python?

    I'm writing a simple program in Python 2.7 using pycURL library to submit file contents to pastebin. Also, I would be very happy if someone could tell me how to use multiple data inputs in POSTFIELDS. Pastebin API uses paste_code as its main data input, but it can use optional things like paste_name that sets the name of the upload or paste_private that sets it private.

  • Turing's Craft exercise stumped me... seems too easy.

    "Write a for loop that prints the integers 1 through 40, separated by spaces or new lines. You may use only one variable, count which has already been declared as an integer." So I use... for(count = 1; count <= 40; count++) { cout << " " << count; } but they are using stdio.h as the only header and cout is not recognized. It hints that the output format should be (" ",count), but I can't figure out what print function to use. stdio.h can use fprintf or fwrite, but I don't have enough parameters for either function. Any ideas?

    I'm used to use padding + background-image to place an icon next to a link. There are many example of this approach. What is the standard to place icon next to links which is semantically correct and works in all cases? (I couldn't find an exact similar question. If there is one, just close this one as duplicate)

    Is there any Python library that allows me to parse an HTML document similar to what jQuery does? i.e. I'd like to be able to use CSS selector syntax to grab an arbitrary set of nodes from the document, read their content/attributes, etc. The only Python HTML parsing lib I've used before was BeautifulSoup, and even though it's fine I keep thinking it would be faster to do my parsing if I had jQuery syntax available. :D Write an iterative program that finds the largest number of McNuggets that cannot be bought in exact quantity.     For those unfamiliar with JNotify, this is a library which provides an easy way to monitor events in a directory. For instance, when a file gets deleted in the selected folder, the method "fileDeleted" gets called, along with a few parameters. Here's an example of the fileDeleted method: public void fileDeleted(int wd, String rootPath, String name) { print("deleted " + rootPath + " : " + name); } Now, I would like to know if the deleted file was a file or directory. My usual approach is to create a new File object with the given path, and use the methods isFile() and isDirectory() However, since this file is already deleted, these methods always return false. So here's my concrete question: I have the path to a deleted file or directory, how can I tell wether it was a file or a directory? Is there a workaround to this? What's the best practice to do here? But I am getting only last expression pattern , which means fifth expression of if condition . Here I know that it is giving only one pattern because last pattern matching in if condition.   • Loop with pointer arithmetic refuse to stay within boundary in C. Gives me segfault.

    Hi have made this function which is made to replicate an error that I can't get past. It looks like this: void enumerate(double *c, int size){ while(c < &c[size]){ printf("%lf\n", *c); c++; } } I have added some printf's in there and it gives me: Adressof c: 0x100100080, Adressof c + size: 0x1001000a8 I then also print the address of c for each iteration of the loop, it reaches 0x1001000a8 but continues past this point even though the condition should be false as far as I can tell until I get a segfault. If anyone can spot the problem, please tell me, I have been staring at this for a while now. Thanks.

We have access to balanced dictionary data structure, which supports the operations serach, insert, delete, minimum, maximum each in O(log n) time. We want to retrieve the numbers in sorted order in O(n log n) time using only the insert and in-order traversal. The answer to this is:- Sort() initialize(t) while(not EOF) read(x) insert(x,t); Traverse(t); Now the query is if we read the elements in time "n" and then traverse the elements in "log n"(in-order traversal) time,, then the total time for this algorithm (n+logn)time, according to me.. Please explain the follow up of this algorithm for the time calculation.. How it will sort the list in O(nlogn) time?? Thanks.

    I'm working on application in Java that will maintain database of song lyrics in plain text and print out some songbooks/chordbooks(that is create PDF file from selected songs). I was planing that the Java application will generate source code for pdflatex and after compiling this source user will get PDF file. Lately I've run into a lot of problems because of latex limitation: fixed memory size (some pictures will also be drawn to PDF) - error when exceeded, no way to query end of line or and of page dynamically, it's very hard to override latex placement algorithm in a complex way,... see also some my other questions regarding latex. I come to conclusion that latex is not good option for automated PDF generation. So I need replacement. I need to be able to typeset: Chords over lyrics when the lyrics are in variable char width so I need to be able to measure text width Chord diagrams that means I'll have to draw quite complex pictures Each song on separate double page Different fonts etc. Thanks for all answers

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    I need to wait in a script until a certain number of conditions become true? I know I can roll my own eventing using condition variables and friends, but I don't want to go through all the trouble of implementing it, since some object property changes come from external thread in a wrapped C++ library (Boost.Python), so I can't just hijack __setattr__ in a class and put a condition variable there, which leaves me with either trying to create and signal a Python condition variable from C++, or wrap a native one and wait on it in Python, both of which sound fiddly, needlessly complicated and boring. Is there an easier way to do it, barring continuous polling of the condition? Ideally it would be along the lines of res = wait_until(lambda: some_predicate, timeout) if (not res): print 'timed out'

  • How do I use google API within perl CGI script?

    The google API example shows that you should have the javascript within the head tag but I am using perl module CGI and in there they suggest that you use "print header;" instead of writting out your headers explicitly. So if I want to use the perl CGI module and the google API javascript what is the correct way to do this? I tried writing out the header explicitly but It seemed like the perl module really wanted me to use the header method. It seems like this would be a common use case but I looked around the web for some examples of this and I could not find one. Any help would be appreciated.

  • PHP MySQL New Lines / Whitespaces from textarea

    I've a problem about whitespaces and new lines at the beginning of a textarea. I send a json string with ajax to the php script. Then I decode the string into an php array (with json_decode). So I have a string in this array with two line breaks at the beginning. If a print the text from the array, the line breaks are there, but if I store the text into the mysql database, the line breaks are gone... Only at the beginning of the string, the line breaks gone... At the rest of the string, the line breaks are ok. Thanks for your answers! rob

Please view your open orders. Any thoughts on why the displayed string does not match the saved string? This seems to contradict the Django documentation: Field.default The default value for the field. This can be a value or a callable object. If callable it will be called every time a new object is created. Am I doing something wrong? Update: Originally, I had this, but then I switched to the above version to debug: _applies_to = models.TextField(db_index=True, default=cPickle.dumps(set())) I'm not sure why that wouldn't work.

I though about ArrayList that is serializable and we can put there everything but is not elegant way. I want to send different types of data because user can choose from a variety of options that server can do for it. Any advices?

  • Unmangling the result of std::type_info::name

    I'm currently working on some logging code that supposed to - among other things - print information about the calling function. This should be relatively easy, standard C++ has a type_info class. This contains the name of the typeid'd class/function/etc. but it's mangled. It's not very usefull. I.e. typeid(std::vector).name() returns "St6vectorIiSaIiEE". Is there a way to produce something usefull from this? Like 'std::vector' for the above example. If it only works for non-template classes, that's fine too. The sollution should work for gcc, but it would be better if I could port it. It's for logging so it's not so important that it can't be turned of, but it should be helpfull for debugging.

    NSLog function accepts printf format specifiers. My question is about %x specifier. Does this print hex codes as sequence on memory? Or does it have it's own printing sequence style? unsigned int a = 0x000000FF; NSLog(@"%x", a); Results of above code on little or big endian processors are equal or different? And how about NSString's -initWithFormat method? Does it follows this rule equally?

    I've looked on SO and it seems that most people have been recomending books as the best iphone development resource due to the lack of resources on the web. I've seen the book the The Pragmatic Programmer: iPhone SDK development been recomended a few times. I'm planning to go buy a couple of books. Which should I go for? Please give reason :) A bit of background : I have a strong background in C and I've played around with Cocoa so something iphone specific would be best ( but I'm open for suggestions ;)) Update I'm not looking for simple listings of iphone SDK related books, I can google that ;) I want books that people are reading/have read and would recomend :) Final Update I just ordered my copy of Beginning iPhone Development: Exploring the iPhone SDK. My main reasons on chosing it are that it's already in print (unlike the pragmatic one) and I looked at the preview on their website and I liked it.
