    I'm a python guy and very new to R (so far, all I've done is copy-paste code and screen-shot the resulting, graph). I would now like to actually learn the language so that I can draw useful plots (right now, I am trying to plot this). In attempting my first plot, I came across this function call: sets_options("universe", seq(from = 0, to = 25, by = 0.1)) Now, I would like to know if I can achieve the same result by calling sets_options("universe", seq(0, 25, 0.1)) The help page for seq doesn't speak to this specifically (or I'm not reading it correctly), so I was hoping someone could shed some light on how R handles positional arguments I tried calling the function that way in R and it worked (no syntax errors, etc), but I don't know how to test the output of that function, so I'm forced to ask here

  • I need summarise months into years, how can i do that?

    Hi i working a fairly large spreadsheet which is broken down into months. I want to put the yearly subtotals at the begining of the spreadsheet. So in cell A1 i want to add AA2-AL2, B1 i want to add AM2-AX2 and so on so forth. How can i do this whithout manually going to each set of values. Is there anyway i can put a formula in A1 which i can copy to B1,C1,D1,E1, which will pick up a set of 12 cells each (with no overlap)

    I was trying to get fresh copy of my project from github using tortoise svn client. But I am getting following exception. The PROPFIND request returned invalid XML in the response: XML parse error at line 1: no element found (Checkout from https://github.com/anoopchaurasia/JavaScript-File-Manager.git) When I tried to checkout using subeclipse on Eclipse, it saying "Folder does not exist.". I am able to checkout same repository on my other system.

I want to be able to call that variable from a keypress and change the variables function.   • Is my Perl script grabbing environment variabless from "someplace else"?

    On a Solaris box in a "mysterious production system" I'm running a Perl script that references an environment variable. No big deal. The contents of that variable from the shell both pre- and post-execution are what I expect. However, when reported by the script, it appears as though it's running in some other sub-shell which is clobbering my vars with different values for the duration of the script. Unfortunately I really can't paste the code. I'm trying to get an atomic case, but I'm at my wit's end here.

  • shell_exec syntax error. running in terminal directly is ok

    Having this command: $command = "diff -bBdH --ignore-all-space <(echo 'hi') <(echo 'hi1')"; echo $command; $result = shell_exec($command); On the screen I see: sh: 1: Syntax error: "(" unexpected diff -bBdH --ignore-all-space <(echo 'hi') <(echo 'hi1') If I copy-paste the second line from the console output into the terminal, the result would be correct. (Reproduced on another machine too). I'm missing something dead simple here and can't see what it is. besides, why is my output reversed? I'm clearly echoing the command before executing it, thus the syntax error of the shell should appear after the shell_exec

    Hi all, it works perfectly fine if I paste the following URL directly into my IE address bar: http://translate.google.cn/translate?hl=zh-CN&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.baidu.com%2Fns%3Fword%3D%25B0%25C2%25B0%25CD%25C2%25ED it will translate some Chinese news pages into English ones. but if I call this address in a Java program like: Process q=Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c start http://translate.google.cn/translate?hl=zh-CN&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.baidu.com%2Fns%3Fword%3D%25B0%25C2%25B0%25CD%25C2%25ED"); It will only return to the Google translate main page.     I'm used to handle graphics with old-school libraries (allegro, GD, pygame), where if I want to copy a part of a bitmap into another... I just use blit. I'm trying to figure out how to do that in android, and I got very confused. So... we have these Canvas that are write-only, and Bitmaps that are read-only? It seems too stupid to be real, there must be something I'm missing, but I really can't figure it out.

    I've inherited some C# code that contains about a thousand lines of source that I need to modify, transforming it from this: newDataRow["to_dir"] = comboBox108.Text; To this: assetAttributes.Add("to_dir", comboBox108.Text); The lines occur in various places throughout the application in groups of 40 or 50. Modifying each line by hand in Visual Studio 2008 can be done but it's labor intensive and prone to errors. Is there a Windows utility out there that will let me cut and paste groups of code into it and then run some sort of reg-ex expression to transform the individual lines one-by-one? I'd also be willing to use some sort of VS 2008 add-in that performed the same set of reg-ex operations against a selection of code. Thanks in advance.

  • File.Exists() returns false, but not in debug

    I'm being completely confused here folks, My code throws an exception because File.Exists() returns false public override sealed TCargo ReadFile(string fileName) { if (!File.Exists(fileName)) { throw new ArgumentException("Provided file name does not exist", "fileName"); } Visual studio breaks at the throw statement, and I immediately check the value of File.Exists(fileName) in the immediate window. It returns true. When I drag the breakpoint back up to the if statement and execute it again, it throws again. fileName is an absolute path to a file. I'm not creating the file, nor writing to it (it's there all along). If I paste the path into the open dialog in Notepad, it reads the file without problems. The code is executing in a background worker. It's the only complicating factor I can think of. I am positive the file has not been opened already, either in the worker thread or elsewhere. What's going on here?

  • Is it possible to Load hbm.xml info at app startup instead of via an embedded resource?

    All of the NHibernate examples I've see that use hbm files have the hbm.xml file set as an embedded resource with "do not copy" chosen in the file properties. This means that if a database column name were to change in production, the app would have to be recompiled with the changes in the hbm.xml file during build time. Is there any way to make NHibernate load the hbm.xml files from the file system at application startup instead of using an embedded version?

All I want to do is have an image and then some text after that image, and be able to control accurately the amount of space between the image and the text.     Suppose you have 2 files in the same directory: New File Name.txt and NewFil~1.txt If you use CopyFileEx to copy both files to the same destination, maintaining the same names, you will end up having only ONE file (the second one replaces the first one) which can be sometimes not a good thing. Any workaround for this behavior?

    In Visual studio 2008 is it possible to have a resource file that is included as a separate file after compilation rather than as an embedded resource. This is to enable small changes to be rolled out more easily. I have tried build options of Resource, None, Compile and also copy local on and off for most of these. However when ever I try access the resource at run time I get a cannot find resource exception. Is this actually possible or am I wasting my time?
