Almost every single engine uses a database of some sort to keep posts and comments. Almost every one is not leveraging the web as a consequence ;) I was intrigued by the possibilities that a flexible and general-purpose hosting solution like Github could offer for a static blog engine: basically keeping plain markdown/HTML/razor/WLW/whatever files that through a publish/build time process generate static files that pass for a &quot;blog engine&quot;.   I'm not sure how exactly objects do things to other objects in a component based design. Say I have an Obj class. I do: Obj obj; obj.add(new Position()); obj.add(new Physics()); How could I then have another object not only move the ball but have those physics applied. I'm not looking for implementation details but rather abstractly how objects communicate. In an entity based design, you might just have: obj1.emitForceOn(obj2,5.0,0.0,0.0); Any article or explanation to get a better grasp on a component driven design and how to do basic things would be really helpful.

  Hello How often QA engineers are responsible for developing Mock Objects for Unit Testing. So dealing with Mock Objects is just developer job ?. The reason i ask is i'm interested in QA as my career and am learning tools like JUnit , TestNG and couple of frameworks. I just want to know until what level of unit testing is done by developer and from what point QA engineer takes over testing for better test coverage ? I'm interested in more of Test Automation rather than simple QA involved in record and play of script. • iOS: Versioned static frameworks vs Git Submodules and included code

  For the last couple of years I've been building static frameworks of common APIs for my iOS projects. I can build a universal binary containing all the architectures (i386, armv6, armv7) and wrap it up in a .framework directory structure. I then stored this in a directory based on the version of the framework. For example ..../myAPI/v0.1.0/myAPI.framework Once I have this framework I can then easily add it to a project and if I want to advance the version, merely change the framework search paths to the later version. This works, but the approach is very similar to what I would use in the Java world. Recently I've been reading about using Git submodules and static framework sub projects in XCode 4. Im wondering if my currently approach is something that I should consider retiring and what the pros/cons are of the new approach. I'm weary of just including code because I've already had issues in a work project which had (effectively) multiple versions of a third party API. Any opinions?

  In the spirit of hobbyist adventures, I made a static blog generator in C# with the help of MarkdownSharp (from the StackOverflow Guys, I think). Inspired from static blog generators like Jekyll, it does things Jekyll can’t do (aren’t built in)- it has a GUI and can generate feeds. Of course, it’s Windows Only and it’s somewhat limited too.   I have tomcat 7 configured to serve static contents from a directory: <Host appBase="webapps" name="localhost"> ... <Context docBase="/var/projectA/static" path="/projectA/" /> </Host> This is available at localhost:8080/projectA/. Is it possible to somehow enable directory listings for this context? I know it's possible to do this with apache in front of tomcat, but that's not what I'm looking for. p.s. there's no 'tomcat' tag and my rep doesn't allow me to create tags...

• Best approach to get clicked objects from a display list (2D)

  I'm implementing a display list to manage my visuals on screen. I want to know which object is clicked. My objects already have z-order variable. With my current knowledge (almost nothing) the only thing which comes to my mind is make a linear search and get all the objects which contains the clicked point. And then select the object with the highest z-order. But I know there are far better approaches. I think it's something with trees (binary search?). - container display objects and search recursively? just don't know where to start looking, for this concrete case. Any hint link or concrete solution is welcome.

• Static IP breaks Network connection

  I am somewhat new to Linux. I am setting up a Web server and installed Ubuntu server 14.04 on an vSphere ESXi 5.5 host. I am connecting perfectly fine to the internet when using DHCP but when I apply my Static settings I loose the ability to connect to websites. Whats weird is I can Ping google.com but if I try wget gooogl.com it hangs at connecting to google.com (google.com):173.194.43.32:80 and I get "failed: connection refused" But if I am set to DHCP the connection resolves perfectly. • Syncing objects to a remote server, and caching on local storage

  What's the best method of sycing objects (as JSON) to a remote server, with local caching? I have some objects that will pretty much just be plain-text with some extra meta-data. I was thinking of perhaps including a "last modified date" for both Local storage and Remote storage. This could then be used to determine which object is the most recent. For example, even though objects will be saved to both local and remote when they are saved, sometimes the user may not have internet access, or the server may be down, or any other number of things. In this case, the last modified date for remote storage would be reverted to its previous date. Local storage would remain as it is. At this point, the user could exit the application, and when they reload the application would then look at the last modified dates of the local and remote storages, and decide. Is there anything I'm missing with this? Is there a better method that I could use?

• Change from static HTML file to meta tag for Google Webmaster verification

  I started verifying the server by putting a couple of static HTMLs in place. Then I noticed that Google wants you to keep these files in place. I didn't want to keep the static HTMLs in, so I want to switch to an alternative verification mechanism, and include the meta tags on the home page. Unfortunately, once your site is verified, you never seem to be able to change to an alternative way of verification. I tried removing the HTML pages. No luck whatsoever. Google still considers the site to be 'verified'. Does anybody know how to undo this? All I want to do is switch to the meta tag based method of site ownership verification.

  for a lot of quick tasks where one could employ a function f(x,y), in plain C, macros are used. I would like to ask specifically about these cases, that are solvable by a function call (i.e. macros used for inlining functions, not for code expansion of arbitrary code). Typically C functions are not inlined since they might be linked to from other C files. However, static C functions are only visible from within the C file they are defined in. Therefore they can be inlined by compilers. I have heard that a lot of macros should be replaced by turning them into static functions, because this produces safer code. Are there cases where this is a not good idea? Again: Not asking about Code-Production macros with ## alike constructs that cannot at all be expressed as a function.

• Moving from mock to real objects?

  I'm like doing TDD so I started everything mocking objects, creating interface, stubbing, great. The design seems to work, now I'll implement the stuff, a lot of the code used in the stubs are going to be reused in my real implementation yay! Now should I duplicate the tests to use the real object implementation (but keeping the mocks object of the sensitive stuff like Database and "services" that are out of my context (http calls, etc...)) Or just change the mocks and stubs of the actual tests to use the real objects....... So the question is that, keep two tests or replace the stubs, mocks? And after that, I should keep designing with the mocks, stubs or just go with real objects? (Just making myself clear I'll keep the mock object of the sensitive stuff like database and services that are out of my context, in both situations.)

  I've just installed Wordpress 3.5 on my laptop (LAMP on Ubuntu 12.10) and when I'm trying to access the site from my phone but it doesn't load static files (css and images). I tried with Opera Mobile Emulator on my laptop and it works perfectly. I also have another Drupal site on my localhost which I can load from my phone without any issues. Both directories have chmod 777 permissions. What can cause that? Just tried to open the site from my sister's laptop but it except static file I can't access any post or page.

  If I understand this correctly, I have two options for static files: Use a CDN and throw all my static files on it. Use a separate domain just to store the static files so users can download it simultaneously. So I assume it is either one to choose or do i need a separate domain then use a CDN to get files from that domain? Because I assume even if I have a CDN I still need to have a local copy of the static content somewhere either on my main site or a static content site like static.domain.com?

• Django fails to find static files served by nginx

  I know this is a really noobish question but I can't find any solution despite finding the problem trivial. I have a django application deployed with gunicorn. The static files are served by the nginx server with the following url : myserver.com/static/admin/css/base.css. However, my django application keep looking for the static files at myserver.com:8001/static/admin/css/base.css and is obviously failing (404). I don't know how to fix this. Is it a django or an nginx problem ?   I have a rails application with static content in the public directory (e.g. public/index.html) and additional static content in nested subdirectories (e.g. public/one/two/index.html). All the static content is served correctly if I run it locally via script/server but when I upload it to Heroku the top-level page loads correctly but the nested content returns a 404. I've found a number of resources (for example this question) which discuss static content in rails but they all seem to assume a fairly simple structure with a single directory containing all the files. Is there any way I can fix this?

  I have the following problem: I need to use XSLFO to generate a 2-column multipage document. Problem is: I need to have a vertical line between the 2 columns. Since XSLFO does not seem to specify a option for creating such a divider, I need to manually put it there. I was thinking of using a static rotated blockcontainer with a leader in it.   What is the difference between a static array and a dynamic array in C++? I have to do an assignment for my class and it says not to use static arrays, only dynamic arrays. I've looked in the book and online, but I don't seem to understand. I thought static was created at compile time and dynamic at runtime, but I might be mistaken this with memory allocation. Unfortunately I didn't find a way to store the static resources in a location outside of the webapplication which has his own advantages ( smaller WAR sizes, better optimize cookieless server, static resources served faster by a highly optimized native httpd, no need to redeploy WAR when updating static resources..). So my question is: is it possible to use this great plugin with static resoures stored outside the web application? And if yes, how?
