  I have been trying to run configure to prepare the make file for GTK 2,9 on a fresh Linux box (running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx). it complained about some dependencies, including: glib-2.0 atk (1.29.2) pango (1.20) cairo (1.6) I managed to find the glib 2.22.0, downloaded the atk but did not compile yet, did not start the pango yet, but when tried to get the cairo package I didn't know where to get it from! nothing on GNU site, not on GTK site! anyone knows where to get it from?

  I've a program with an Expansion file that stores 4 mp3 in a obb file (zip without compression). • Syntax for "RETURNING" clause in Mysql PDO

  I'm trying to add a record, and at the same time return the id of that record added. I read it's possible to do it with a RETURNING clause. $stmt->prepare("INSERT INTO tablename (field1, field2) VALUES (:value1, :value2) RETURNING id"); but the insertion fails when I add RETURNING. There is an auto-incremented field called id in the table being added to. Can someone see anything wrong with my syntax? or maybe PDO does not support RETURNING?

• Manipulating source packages from Hackage how to easy deploy to several windowsboxes?

  Recently when I have found good sources packages for ghc 6.12/6.10 on Hackage I've been forced to do some minor or major changes to the cabal files to make those packages to work under windows. Besides to fork and merge my fixes with github, what seems to be the best way/ good enough practice to take these modified builds to a couple of other windows boxes that only has a basic haskell platform installed? I should prefer if I somehow could work with the cabal-install because that is what one normally use. Should one put the modfied build dirs on a shared/networked dir and mount from the targeted windows box?   I'm not so savvy with MYSQL, so my apologies in advance is this is a dumb question. I've created a super basic PHP High Scores table. Upon inserting a new score into the DB Table, I'd like to retrieve the position of that score so that I can get 10 results with the persons score falling within that range. My INSERT Query looks something like: $stmt = $mysqli->prepare("INSERT INTO highscores (name, time, score) VALUES (?, ?, ?)"); $stmt->bind_param('sdi', $name, $time, $score); UPDATE - I'm looking for a way to do this with as few queries as possible. I recall reading something about getting an INSERT ID when making an insert, but I would then still have to make a second query to get those results.

  I have a VB6 program which I've been maintaining for ten years. There is a subroutine in the program called "Prepare Copy", which looks like this: Public Sub PrepareCopy() Set CopiedShapes = New Collection End Sub Where CopiedShapes is dimmed out as a VB6 Collection. That code is now kicking out a Runtime Error 5 -- Invalid Procedure Call or Argument. It appears from the interstitial debugging code that the error arises between the Public Sub PrepareCopy() and the Set CopiedShapes = New Collection lines. That's right. The VB6 error is happening between two lines of my code. I can think of no other explanation for this. It's behaving this way on my development machine and two client computers. It is only happening in runtime code, and does not appear to make a difference whether I compile it or use P-Code What I'm asking for here is speculation as to what causes this sort of thing to happen.

The connection has been tested, and that's not the problem I'm having. I'm only running into trouble whenever my prepared statement involves INSERT INTO.   Let's say I have code like this: $dbh = new PDO("blahblah"); $stmt = $dbh->prepare('SELECT * FROM users where username = :username'); $stmt->execute( array(':username' => $_REQUEST['username']) ); The PDO documentation says The parameters to prepared statements don't need to be quoted; the driver handles it for you. Is that truly all I need to do to avoid SQL injections? Is it really that easy? You can assume MySQL if it makes a difference. Also, I'm really only curious about the use of prepared statements against SQL injection. In this context, I don't care about XSS or other possible vulnerabilities.

• Can I make PDOStatement->fetchObject not use non-member variables?

  Lets say I have a class like this: Class User { var $id var $name; } And I run a query using PDO in php like so: $stm = $db->prepare('select * from users where id = :id'); $r = $stm->execute(array(':id' => $id)); $user = $r->fetchObject('User'); If I vardump my user object it has all kinds of other fields in it that I have not defined in the User class. Obviously I could make my query specific so that it only gives me back the fields I need/want. But if I don't want to do that is there any way to make this work the way I want it to? I like the idea of fetchObject, because it's one line of code to create this object and set member variables for me. I just don't want it to set variables I haven't defined in my class.

  hi I'm using Drupal, Views with a exposed filter (using taxonomy). My customer wants to set from back-end the default selected tags (in order to pre-filter the views content). In the exposed filter settings, there is functionality. However, it doesn't work properly: when I click on "Select None" link (I'm using better_exposed_filter module) I expect none of the tags are selected, instead, the default configuration (default selected tags) are selected, so actually it doesn't work anymore. I hope it is clear. So, I was wondering if I can prepare a custom menu in which my user can check/uncheck the default selected tags in the view. thanks

• Minimizing Java Thread Context Switching Overhead

  I have a Java application running on Sun 1.6 32-bit VM/Solaris 10 (x86)/Nahelem 8-core(2 threads per core). A specific usecase in the application is to respond to some external message. In my performance test environment, when I prepare and send the response in the same thread that receives the external input, I get about 50 us advantage than when I hand off the message to a separate thread to send the response. I use a ThreadPoolExecutor with a SynchronousQueue to do the handoff. In your experience what is the acceptable delay between scheduling a task to a thread pool and it getting picked up for execution? What ideas had worked for you in the past to try improve this?

• C - Discard the edges of an arbitrary level of a multidimensional array

  I have some geographical data, that I'm trying to parse into a usable format. The data is kept in NetCDF files, and is read out as a multidimensional array. My problem comes because the source of the geographical data has a strip of longitude on each side of the grid that overlaps the other side. That is, I have a longitude point of -1 degree, and another of 361 degrees. Unfortunately, I've got time, latitude, and sometimes height as dimensions in this array as well, and I have no way of predicting in advance where each dimension will be in the list (or if it's a three dimensional array, or a four dimensional array). Further complicating the problem, the array can be of floats, doubles or integers, so I have to pass it around as a void. Are there any NetCDF tools that I can use to pre-prepare the files? If not, how would you suggest I go about stripping the excess longitudes?
