  • C# Reading the registry and Wow6432Node key

    Hi all, I have come code that reads the registry and looks for a value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\App\ but when running on 64bit versions of Windows the value is under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\App. How should I best approach this? Do I need a 64bit installer or should I rewrite my code to detect both places? Thanks

  • Set asisde space for ADT when reading integers from file

    I'm using C to make maze solver. The program should be able read a maze from a text file containing a grid of 1 and 0 representing walls and paths. This file could be of any size as the user selects which maze to use. The program should then show the maze being solved. As the maze is being solved it should show where has been walked and how many steps have been taken. I have made an ADT called Cell containing a bool for wall or path and an integer for steps taken. I now need to populate a 2D array of Cells which means I need to set aside enough space to store a Cell for every integer in the maze file. What would be the best way to do this?

  • Problem when reading backslash in Prolog

    I'm writing a lexer in Prolog which will be used as a part of functional language interpreter. Language spec allows expressions like for example let \x = x + 2; to occur. What I want lexer to do for such input is to "return": [tokLet, tokLambda, tokVar(x), tokEq, tokVar(x), tokPlus, tokNumber(2), tokSColon] and the problem is, that Prolog seems to ignore the \ character and "returns" the line written above except for tokLambda. One approach to solve this would be to somehow add second backslash before/after every occurrence of one in the program code (because everything works fine if I change the original input to let \\x = x + 2;) but I don't really like it. Any ideas?

    Is there any standard means in PHP to read the Set-Cookie instructions in an HTTP Response header, without manually parsing it? More specifically, I want to read the value of the ASP.NET_SessionId cookie returned by an ASP.NET Web Service I am consuming. EDIT: I am consuming the Web Service using PHP's native SoapClient class.   • Safely escaping and reading back a file path in ruby

    I need to save a few informations about some files. Nothing too fancy so I thought I would go with a simple one line per item text file. Something like this : # write io.print "%i %s %s\n" % [File.mtime(fname), fname, Digest::SHA1.file(fname).hexdigest] # read io.each do |line| mtime, name, hash = line.scanf "%i %s %s" end Of course this doesn't work because a file name can contain spaces (breaking scanf) and line breaks (breaking IO#each). The line break problem can be avoided by dropping the use of each and going with a bunch of gets(' ') while not io.eof? mtime = Time.at(io.gets(" ").to_i) name = io.gets " " hash = io.gets "\n" end Dealing with spaces in the names is another matter. Now we need to do some escaping. note : I like space as a record delimiter but I'd have no issue changing it for one easier to use. In the case of filenames though, the only one that could help is ascii nul "\0" but a nul delimited file isn't really a text file anymore... I initially had a wall of text detailing the iterations of my struggle to make a correct escaping function and its reciprocal but it was just boring and not really useful. I'll just give you the final result: def write_name(io, val) io << val.gsub(/([\\ ])/, "\\\\\\1") # yes that' 6 backslashes ! end def read_name(io) name, continued = "", true while continued continued = false name += io.gets(' ').gsub(/\\(.)/) do |c| if c=="\\\\" "\\" elsif c=="\\ " continued=true " " else raise "unexpected backslash escape : %p (%s %i)" % [c, io.path, io.pos] end end end return name.chomp(' ') end I'm not happy at all with read_name. Way too long and akward, I feel it shouldn't be that hard. While trying to make this work I tried to come up with other ways : the bittorrent encoded / php serialize way : prefix the file name with the length of the name then just io.read(name_len.to_i). It works but it's a real pita to edit the file by hand. At this point we're halfway to a binary format. String#inspect : This one looks expressly made for that purpose ! Except it seems like the only way to get the value back is through eval. I hate the idea of eval-ing a string I didn't generate from trusted data. So. Opinions ? Isn't there some lib which can do all this ? Am I missing something obvious ? How would you do that ?

    I am trying to read data from a binary file and process it.It is a very large file so I thought I would use memory mapping. I am trying to use memory mapping so I can read the file byte by byte. I am getting a few compiler errors while doing this. I am doing this on a linux platform #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/mman.h> int fd; char *data; fd = open("data.bin", O_RDONLY); pagesize = 4000; data = mmap((caddr_t)0, pagesize, PROT_READ, MAP_SHARED, fd, pagesize); The errors i get are : caddr not initialized, R_RDONLY not initialized, mmap has too few arguments. Could someone help me out ?

I able to read a file in basic encoding schemes like UTF-8, UTF16 etc...After a bit of research on the internet i came to know that we need charset.jar or international version of JRE be installed to support extended encoding schemes. Can anyone send me a link for international version of JRE6 or JDK6. or is there any better way that i could read a file in cp037 encoding scheme. P.S: cp037 is a character encoding scheme supported by IBM Mainframes. All i need is to display a file in windows, which is being generated on IBM Mainframes machine, using a java program. Doesn't username have ns1 namespace even though it doesn't have the prefix? Am I suppose to keep track of the namespace scope to read an element? Wouldn't it became nasty if my xml elements are many level deep? Is there a workaround where I can read the element in ns1 namespace without knowing whether a prefix is defined?

    I'm trying to write a short function that will let me quickly read in a file of unknown size and return pointer to the array of data and the length of that array but it seems my code isn't working.     Hi all, I am trying to write an app that makes use of the external tools functionality of SQL Server Management Studio. To specify an external tool, you can enter a path to the app and specify some arguments to pass to the app via STDIN. Currently I just have a form that displays the arguments. Every time I run the external tool I get a new instance of the application. Ideally I would like for the first time I run the tool to load the application, and each subsequent running to take the arguments from STDIN and do something with them WITHOUT creating a new instance of the app. Is there anything I can do that could allow this, or am I stuck with lots of windows? The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "I:\My Documents\Flamm Consulting\Migrations.accdb" failed with error code 0xC0209303. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. Frankly, I'm confused about how SSIS should connect to Access 2007 - the UI just isn't very friendly - there's no file browser, for example. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my install - missing drivers, etc.
