I want to create something similar to this using farsser and Kinect:
https://vimeo.com/33500649
This is my implementation until now:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlIvJRhco4U
I have the outline vertices and the triangulation of the user. And following the Texture to Polygonmsample i used this line to create the shape, where farseerObject is a list of vertices of the triangles:
_compound = BodyFactory.CreateCompoundPolygon(World, farseerObject, 1f, BodyType.Dynamic);
But I have to update the body each frame (like 30 fps) and this is very slow. I get just 2 or 3 fps.
There's another (faster) way to create the Body from a list of triangles or the contour vertices?

Ubuntu 12.04 32-Bit fresh installed (previously 11.10 32-Bit)
driver: NVIDIAs accelerated Driver (Version current-updates)
probelm: In Ubuntu 12.04 I have problems with the performance of the graphics (games for example: Volley Brwawl, Neverball, Beep and Minecraft), and effects of windows (always at minimize, maximize...) There are laggs at animations, and the laggs in games are extremely annoying. Problems occur only in Ubuntu 12.04, everything was good in 11.10. No Problems with YouTube videos, HD videos.
Is there a solution? BBecause I have found nothing here in the Forum and on Google. Or is an update coming soonfor driver or whatever? (This Bug is already registered in Launchpad.)
Thank you!
So generally I want to have api like pixels.addPixel3D(new Pixel3D(0xFF0000, 100, 100,100)); (color, position) where pixels is some abstraction on 3d sceen objet. So to say point cloud. It would have grate use in deep space/stars modeling... I want to set each pixel by hand (having no image base or any automatic thing)... So point is modeling something like

In pavucontrol, I can choose between RV620 HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 3400 Series] and Built-in Audio.
When the former is enabled, videos on (among others) Youtube play way too fast, but this answer solved my problem (though I don't know why). However, when I use Built-in Audio instead of RV620 HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 3400 Series], the mixer in my applet appears to be disabled; the icon is replaced by a blank and changing the volume has no effect, as the applet apparently only relays to RV620 HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 3400 Series]. How do I get an applet to control the volume for Built-in Audio instead?
I've had this tutorial bookmarked for ages. I've just decided to give DX11 a real go, so I've gone through that tutorial, but I can't find where the next one in the series is!
There are no links from that page to either the next in the series, or back up to the table of contents that lists all of the tutorials. These are just companion tutorials to the samples that come with the SDK, but I find them very helpful.
Searching MSDN from google and the MSDN Bing search box has turned up nothing, it's like they've removed all links to these tutorials, but the pages are still there if you have the URLs. Unfortunately, MSDN URLs are akin to youtube URLs, so I can't just guess the URL of the next tutorial.
Anyone have any idea what happened to these tutorials, or how I can find the others?
I would like to know how to leave a fading texture/material trail in udk.
For example (I'm not sure if there is a special name for this effect):
A character may leave footprints that fade after x number of seconds
Or, a tank may leave a tracks trail as in Civilization IV.
Here is another example of this type of effect. Skip to 1:00 and watch the green slime texture.

How do I accomplish this effect in UDK? Any good tutorials?
Thank you.
A bug, I think, though I can't even seem to find any information when searching for it. The mouse pointer hides itself, but it is still possible to use it.
Whenever I start watching a video in VLC, or start playing KSP through Steam my mouse pointer disappears. It is not returned upon exiting the application. I have not tried with other games in Steam. The mouse pointer do not disappear when watching videos online through YouTube, though it properly hides itself after a few seconds. The bug came about after I updated to 13.10, it was not present with the same setup in 13.04. I have tried removing ~/.compiz and restarting the kernel module psmouse.
Going to tty1 and back to the desktop reveals the pointer, though this fix is bothering me.
How do I fix this problem?
Looking forward to seeing all the DBAs, programmers and BI folks in Cleveland at SQLSaturday #60 tomorrow! I'll be presenting on (1) Intro to Spatial Data and (2) Build Your Own Search Engine in SQL. I've reworked the Spatial Data presentation based on feedback from previous SQLSaturday events and added more sample code. I also expanded the Build Your Own Search Engine code samples to demonstrate additional FILESTREAM functionality. See you all tomorrow! I heard of the game Dwarf Fortress, but only now one of the people I follow on Youtube made a commentary on it... I was more than surprised when I noticed how Dwarf Fortress actually generates a history for the world!
Now, how do these algorithms work? What do they usually take as input, except the length of the simulation? How specific can they be?
And more importantly; can they be made in Javascript, or is Javascript too slow? (I guess this depends on the depth of the simulation, but take Dwarf Fortress as an example.)

So I posted this on another forum yesterday but that forum got suspended for malware so gotta wait for the webmaster to fix the site.
Here's the basics:
We've released a press release through PRMac that included a video review.
Submitted and followed up on all the big iOS review sites. None of them replied back with interest. A lot of them just told me that their editors are volunteers who will review games that are "interesting to their readers" and that they would put my app "into consideration"
The only site that reviewed our app and promoted virally was iPhoneAppReview.com which we paid.
We promoted on the top iOS forums
We are now doing in-app advertising through inMobi and are integrating the SDK code into our app to start doing Tapjoy
We posted up our gameplay videos on YouTube
Any marketing strategies that anyone can suggest or recommend that we haven't used yet? If anyone wants to try out our game and give feedback on the game or the site or anything, that would be great! Our target countries are Japan, China, and the US.

I am going to buy Logitech C510 HD webcam and I just checked on other questions here on AskUbuntu that it works out of the box with cheese. Jorge's response also confirm this and I feel confident buying it now.
My question is can it be limited in any functionality that I would like to do with it?
I would like it to be used with everything - Skype, Gtalk video chat, Facebook, Youtube etc. Also this may sound lame but I need to know whether I could record or do a video call in lesser resolution video (its a 720p one)?
Edit: Ported part of this question to another question to make it more specific.

Oracle
R Enterprise is used to generate new insight and new
value to business, answering not only what happened, but why
it happened. View this YouTube Oracle
Channel video overview describing how analyzing
big data using Oracle R Enterprise is different from
other analytics tools at Oracle.
Oracle R
Enterprise (ORE), a component of the
Oracle Advanced Analytics Option, couples the wealth of
analytics packages in R with the performance, scalability, and
security of Oracle Database. ORE executes base R
functions transparently on database data without having to pull
data from Oracle Database. As an embedded component of the
database, Oracle R Enterprise can run your R script and open
source packages via embedded R where the database manages the
data served to the R engine and user-controlled data
parallelism. The result is faster and more secure access to data. ORE also works with
the full suite of in-database analytics, providing integrated
results to the analyst.
In NetBeans IDE 7.3, a Backbone.js file can be generated from a Java RESTful web service. The Backbone.js file contains complete CRUD functionality and your HTML5 application can immediately be deployed to make use of those features. Coupled with the NetBeans IDE two-way editing support for HTML5, via interaction with WebKit in Chrome, Backbone.js users have a completely new and powerful tool for coding their HTML5 applications.
The above is illustrated via the brand new YouTube movie below:
This makes NetBeans IDE 7.3 well suited as a learning tool for new Backbone.js users, as well as a productivity tool for those who are comfortable with Backbone.js already.

I have a HP pavillion core 2 duo 2 GHz and 4 GB RAM, and it is painful to use this machine for any kind of coding. Eclipse (especially Juno) literally takes 5 minutes to load. And even after that, everything is lagy.
Apart from school stuff, I also use my computer as a television. I watch Hulu, Netflix, YouTube etc in 720p, and this laptop gets hot as hell and the fans are loud enough to wake somebody up from deep sleep.
I DON'T use my laptop for Gaming or Video/Photo Editing.
I'm looking to buy a new laptop (in which most widely used IDEs would work smoothly and playing hi-def videos wouldn't be too much for the machine to handle) any suggestions (on hardware specs) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi,
I really really want to find this package. Because after I saw the youtube clip I realized it's just one of those things I must have done before I die.
This tutorial would be great if the repository were online.
My question is:
Where can I find the file, and how can I install it without changing my current desktop?
The project was called "project looking glass" and was released in 2007. It is now an "inactive open source project", according to its Wikipedia article.
@Takkat found this VERY good live cd, hope it works.
What resources are available for an experienced Objective C programmer to quickly and efficiently learn and get up to speed with Java, the Android SDK API's and Eclipse IDE? There seems to be at least one book and several web sites for experienced Java programmers who want to learn native Objective C programming, iOS UIKit and Xcode, but who don't want to waste time with a lot of basic programming concepts that an experienced Java programmer usually already knows. What are the available advanced educational materials for the inverse direction?
I'm trying to find out whether or not I want to switch from Java to c++ for my OpenGL game programming. I now have setup a test project in VS 11 professional, with GLUT. I created my windows with GLUT, and I can render OpenGL primitives without any problems.
Now my question: What library(s) is/are used mostly in the indie/semi professional industry for using OpenGL in c++?
With 'using OpenGL' I mean:
Creating and managing an OpenGL window
Actually using the OpenGL API
Handling user-input (keyboard/mouse)
