Rest client throw timeout exception

Hi, I have create REST client in C# using example on this page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa395208(v=vs.90).aspx. Server is built in PHP. When I send request to some urls I have this exception: The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:00:59.9531250. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. But, sometimes, when I debug code, I get response. How to solve this?

How to access a site in IIS with no DNS mapping

In my IIS 7.5 hosted in a Windows Server 2008 R2 I have several websites with no DNS address assigned. Let's take for instance the site (as named in IIS) with site name mySite. I have for this site the standard binding with no host name. Suppose that my server IP address is, for instance, 101.22.23.01. Therefore it seems logic to me that in order to access the website, I should place in the address bar of my browser: [IP_address]/[sitename] in this case: 101.22.23.01/mySite but it does not work. Shall I specify something else in the bindings?

wildcard host name bindings for multiple subdomains in multiple sites on IIS7 with a single IP address

Situation: I have a single windows 2008 server with a single public IP address. I have multiple domains with wildcard A records pointing to the single IP address. I need each domain to be hosted by a different web site. (i.e. www.domain1.com by site domain1site) I need domain1.com to act like www.domain1.com I need each site to be able to have multiple subdomains (i.e. www.domain1.com, abc.domain1.com, xyz.domain1.com) Not relevant yet here it goes, I plan to handle each subdomain by a different application hosted in the same site (i.e. application /xyz in domain1site) However I found out that IIS7 does not support creating web sites with wildcard host name binding and setting it without any subdomain (i.e. domain1.com) does not work, even for www.domain1.com. Is there a simple solution? Does any IIS Extension like Application Request Routing provide such capability?

Cannot connect to IIS 7 from localhost

I cannot connect to the local IIS 7 using "http://localhost" in IE. "http://127.0.0.1" doesn't work either. The strange thing is that if I add a binding on e.g. port 81, then I can reach "http://localhost:81". Also turning off the firewall on the local machine doesn't help. The site is reachable from the internet. The local requests don't seem to hit IIS (no entries in the IIS log files). IIS is hosted on Windows Server 2008 R2 from behind a hardware firewall device. Note that I'm a programmer, not a network administrator, so I'm having a hard time trouble shooting this.

Right-aligning button in a grid with possibly no content - stretch grid to always fill the page

Hello people, I am losing my patience with this. I am working on a Windows Phone 7 application and I can't figure out what layout manager to use to achieve the following: Basically, when I use a Grid as the layout root, I can't make the grid to stretch to the size of the phone application page. When the main content area is full, all is well and the button sits where I want it to sit. However, in case the page content is very short, the grid is only as wide as to accommodate its content and then the button (which I am desperate to keep near the right edge of the screen) moves away from the right edge. If I replace the grid and use a vertically oriented stack panel for the layout root, the button sits where I want it but then the content area is capable of growing beyond the bottom edge. So, when I place a listbox full of items into the main content area, it doesn't adjust its height to be completely in view, but the majority of items in that listbox are just rendered below the bottom edge of the display area. I have tried using a third-party DockPanel layout manager and then docked the button in it's top section and set the button's HorizontalAlignment="Right" but the result was the same as with the grid, it also shrinks in size when there isn't enough content in the content area (or when title is short). How do I do this then? ==EDIT== I tried WPCoder's XAML, only I replaced the dummy text box with what I would have in a real page (stackpanel) and placed a listbox into the ContentPanel grid. I noticed that what I had before and what WPCoder is suggesting is very similar. Windows 2008 - Define IP Order by port or service

I have a Windows 2008 server that has three IP bound to the NIC. I can select which IP Windows SMTP listens to, but I want to also set the IP address used when mail is sent. Where would I set which outbound IP to use when sending email? Without using real IPs, here is an example what I have setup. Three IPs associated with the server: 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.2 10.0.0.3 I setup the binding on 10.0.0.2 for port 25 in the SMTP server settings, so that it is the only IP that will respond for inbound. When I look at the email header from an email sent from that server, it lists the server with an address of 10.0.0.3. I would like it to use 10.0.0.2 so that when reverse DNS is performed, it maps back correctly.

Fastest reliable way to open the terminal?

I actually had my SUPER_L ( left windows key ) binded to gnome-terminal, but for whatever reason ever since upgrading to 9.04 Ubuntu from 8.10 Intrepid it seemed to break the key binding. It was very handy because I could throw open the terminal with one key ( sorry but alt-f2 and typing gnome-terminal isn't practical for me ). Or perhaps it reset all the keybindings? I remember using xev and some gui type interface that was akin to Win32 registry editor. Anyway, I'm curious as to what you guys use to open the terminal.

How do I get around this lambda expression outer variable issue?

I'm playing with PropertyDescriptor and ICustomTypeDescriptor (still) trying to bind a WPF DataGrid to an object, for which the data is stored in a Dictionary. Since if you pass WPF DataGrid a list of Dictionary objects it will auto generate columns based on the public properties of a dictionary (Comparer, Count, Keys and Values) my Person subclasses Dictionary and implements ICustomTypeDescriptor. ICustomTypeDescriptor defines a GetProperties method which returns a PropertyDescriptorCollection. PropertyDescriptor is abstract so you have to subclass it, I figured I'd have a constructor that took Func and an Action parameters that delegate the getting and setting of the values in the dictionary. I then create a PersonPropertyDescriptor for each Key in the dictionary like this: foreach (string s in this.Keys) { var descriptor = new PersonPropertyDescriptor( s, new Func<object>(() => { return this[s]; }), new Action<object>(o => { this[s] = o; })); propList.Add(descriptor); } The problem is that each property get's its own Func and Action but they all share the outer variable s so although the DataGrid autogenerates columns for "ID","FirstName","LastName", "Age", "Gender" they all get and set against "Gender" which is the final resting value of s in the foreach loop. How can I ensure that each delegate uses the desired dictionary Key, i.e. the value of s at the time the Func/Action is instantiated? Much obliged. IIS7.5 is only resolving to the Default Web Site

I am able to access only the Default Web Site on a Windows 2008 R2 Server which is running IIS 7.5 The Default Web Site's binding is to "All Unassigned", same way as I have done it on a different machine running IIS6 under Windows 2003 Server. The bindings of the desired Web Site have the IP address of the server and the correct home directory. Regardless what I do, the only page content I can see is the default index page in the wwwroot directory which is the Default Web Site. What must I do to deliver the correct content from the Web Sites that are configured in IIS7.5?

Cart coding help

I've made a simple Javascript code for a shopping basket but now I have realised that I have made a error with making it and don't know how to fix it. Forward public port to localhost

I have a process running on my Ubuntu 12.04 server that insists on binding to a public IP address. I only want it accessible from localhost, and NOT the outside world. I've been trying to work out a way to forward 1.2.3.4:8888 to 127.0.0.1:8888. I saw something about iptables not wanting to forward connections to loopback, and I haven't been able to make it work with xinetd either. It's also important that the connection not only be available on localhost, but be inaccessible on the interface it's trying to run on. Is this even possible?

Route a specific user's traffic via VPN but still allow local networking

So, I want to route certain traffic via a VPN connection and the rest via my normal Internet connection. I want to run several different programs and most of them don't support binding to a specific network interface (tun0 in my case). I've managed to send a specific user's traffic via the VPN following the answers given here: iptables - Target to route packet to specific interface? But unfortunately, when I run a server that connects to the Internet and has a web interface running on a local IP (127.0.0.1/192.168.0.*), all the Internet traffic correctly goes via tun0, but I'm unable to connect to the web interface from a local IP as a different user. When I log in as the VPN-ified user, I can access services running on local IPs, but other users/machines can't access any servers I start. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Created a new zone in DNS manager - can't get site bindings to work in iis 7

Firstly I would like to say that I am a noob when it comes to DNS, I am a web developer and I am trying to setup an intranet site for a charity. I have windows server 2008 and I installed both iis 7 and dns manager. In IIS I have this binding that works - Type: http:// IP Address: 192.168.1.9 Port: 80 Host name: My host name is empty and when I try to navigate to this website on the network, the http code is 200 and the page renders. Now if I try Host name of test.organization.intranet Internet explorer says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and the server response is aborted. In DNS manager I created a new forward lookup zone of organization.intranet I did this through the configure a dns server wizard and I created a host (A) with the same IP as the one being used in IIS. The full Host name is test.organization.intranet but it doesn't work. Maybe I am missing something obvious because it's not an area of IT that I know very well, but I am stuck for why I can't get it to work.

In the ManageHook I can define what should happen to windows that have specific xprops etc. For example, I can call doShift or doFloat. How can I do the same to the currently focused window with a key binding? The section looks like this: `additionalKeys` ( [ -- Key bindings -- -- Minimize window ((myModMask .|. shiftMask, xK_m ), withFocused minimizeWindow) As you can see, I can call the minimizedWindow function (which takes a Window as parameter) on the current window when pressing a combination of keys, but doFloat etc. do not work like this.

How to use cursor keys to switch buffers in GNU screen

I want to use cursor keys or cursor keys with a modifier like Ctrl to switch between screen buffers (e.g. C-a [arrow] or C-a C-[arrow]). So far I have tried settings like the ones below with no success. bind \224\115 prev bind \224\116 next bindkey -d ^[[1;5D prev bindkey -d ^[[1;5C next They are either ignored or behave unexpectedly (the second one). I am also not sure how to specify the keys. To get the characters, I either used C-v to quote them in bash, or tried to look-up on the Internet (e.g. http://ascii-table.com/ansi-escape-sequences.php). Any idea how I can achieve this key binding?

Controlling TV Channel Through Computer

I'm passing my TV input through my computer so that I can use the video stream in an application I'm creating which then outputs to my TV. E.g. Sky Digibox/FreeView box - Laptop - TV Where on my laptop I'll be using the stream in a WPF application so I can overlay XAML objects onto it. My question is, what would be the best way for me to send the signal back to the box to say change the channel for example? I don't want to have to use the remote, I want the computer to handle everything. Is there a standard cable these boxes have that could take what would normally be a remote control signal and use that as input instead? Or would I have to go down the route of looking at some sort of Infared LED to send the signal recreating the remote? Apologies if this is not clear enough, let me know and I'll try and be more precise.

Need to configure multiple default gateways for four seperate physical network ports for a FreeBSD Webserver

I need to configure default gateways for four separate physical network interfaces for a FreeBSD Webserver. Basically, this is a web server that needs to be accessed by multiple WANS. I've been using various online resources, and a combination of setfib, pf, and ipfw. This web server will be deployed in multiple sites where access to next hop router info is not available, so we can't use static routes. We've used setfib to successfully create multiple routing tables and can ping beyond every default gateway we've created. Using setfib # ping ip.addr.what.ever we can ping anything available on a wan and beyond the router. The problem is we can't get Apache web server (port 80) traffic to route out when external users access the server(box). Multiple people have examples of binding setfib to ipfw commands, but none of them seem to work.

Keyboard shortcut to cycle through programs (rather than just the alt-tab switch)?

This question applies to both Windows and Mac OS X because I intend to use my mouse (Logitech G700) with both of them. The idea is I want one of my configurations to use two of my buttons to switch applications. However binding them to Alt/Cmd+Tab and Shift+Alt/Cmd+Tab is not good because the former functions as a toggle, and the latter cycles (in an unpredictable order). What I want is to move through my open applications in a circular buffer order. Do either of these OS's provide any keyboard shortcut that accomplishes this? I could live with just Alt/Cmd+Tab set to one button, but it limits me to being able to switch between only two programs.

WinRT WebView and Cookies

Turns out that WebView Control in WinRT is much more limited than it’s counterpart in WPF/Silverlight. There are some great articles out there in how to extend the control in order for it to support navigation events and some other features. For a personal project I'm working on, I needed to grab cookies a Web Site generated for the user. Basically, after a user authenticated to a Web Site I needed to get the authentication cookies and generate some extra requests on her behalf. In order to do so, I’ve found this great article about a similar case using SharePoint and Azure ACS. Can I use `UnlockCommercialFeatures` for developing Java applications without a commercial license?

As of Java 7 Update 40, Oracle is now including Java Mission Control in the JDK. Being always interested in a new profiling tool, I decided to check it out. However, trying to start Flight Recorder against a process, I get the following error, Now I'm getting cold feet about adding the JVM option -XX:+UnlockCommercialFeatures. I would only use this for profiling in development and not in production. From the article linked above, JMC is available under the Oracle Binary Code License for Java. The license allows you to use JMC for free during development and testing, though a different (paid for) licence is required for production use. I'm still leery about this. From Java SE Products, Flight Recorder certainly is a commercial feature; however, I find it very confusing that it's now included in the standard JDK release. Anyone else have a read on this? Pure Server-Side Filtering with RadGridView and WCF RIA Services

Those of you who are familiar with WCF RIA Services know that the DomainDataSource control provides a FilterDescriptors collection that enables you to filter data returned by the query on the server. We have been using this DomainDataSource feature in our RIA Services with DomainDataSource online example for almost an year now. In the example, we are listening for RadGridViews Filtering event in order to intercept any filtering that is performed on the client and translate it to something that the DomainDataSource will understand, in this case a System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor being added or removed from its FilterDescriptors collection. Think of RadGridView.FilterDescriptors as client-side filtering and of DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors as server-side filtering. We no longer need the client-side one. With the introduction of the Custom Filtering Controls feature many new possibilities have opened. With these custom controls we no longer need to do any filtering on the client. I have prepared a very small project that demonstrates how to filter solely on the server by using a custom filtering control. As I have already mentioned filtering on the server is done through the FilterDescriptors collection of the DomainDataSource control. This collection holds instances of type System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor. The FilterDescriptor has three important properties: PropertyPath: Specifies the name of the property that we want to filter on (the left operand). Operator: Specifies the type of comparison to use when filtering. An instance of FilterOperator Enumeration. Value: The value to compare with (the right operand). An instance of the Parameter Class. By adding filters, you can specify that only entities which meet the condition in the filter are loaded from the domain context. In case you are not familiar with these concepts you might find Brad Abrams blog interesting. Now, our requirements are to create some kind of UI that will manipulate the DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors collection. When it comes to collections, my first choice of course would be RadGridView. If you are not familiar with the Custom Filtering Controls concept I would strongly recommend getting acquainted with my step-by-step tutorial Custom Filtering with RadGridView for Silverlight and checking the online example out. I have created a simple custom filtering control that contains a RadGridView and several buttons. This control is aware of the DomainDataSource instance, since it is operating on its FilterDescriptors collection. In fact, the RadGridView that is inside it is bound to this collection. In order to display filters that are relevant for the current column only, I have applied a filter to the grid. This filter is a Telerik.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor and is used to filter the little grid inside the custom control. It should not be confused with the DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors collection that RadGridView is actually bound to. These are the RIA filters. Additionally, I have added several other features. For example, if you have specified a DataFormatString on your original column, the Value column inside the custom control will pick it up and format the filter values accordingly. Also, I have transferred the data type of the column that you are filtering to the Value column of the custom control. This will help the little RadGridView determine what kind of editor to show up when you begin edit, for example a date picker for DateTime columns. Finally, I have added four buttons two of them can be used to add or remove filters and the other two will communicate the changes you have made to the server. If the DomainDataSource has some pre-existing filters (like I have created in the code above), our control will read them and will populate its UI accordingly. Even the filtering funnel will light-up! Remember, the funnel is controlled by the IsActive property of our control. While this is just a basic implementation, the source code is absolutely yours and you can take it from here and extend it to match your specific business requirements.
