• Loading an OverlayView from XIB -vs- programmatically for use with UIImagePickerController

  I am currently making a camera app for iPhone and I have a strange phenomenon that I can't figure out. I would appreciate some help understanding. When recreating an overlay view for passing to UIImagePickerController, I have been successfully been able to create the view programmatically. What I haven't been able to do is create the view with/without controller in IB, load it and pass it to the overlay pointer successfully. If I do it via IB, the view is not opaque and obscures the view of the camera completely. I can not figure out why. I was thinking that the normal view pointer might be assigned when loading from XIB and therefore overwrite the camera's view, but I have an example programmatically where view and overlayView are set equal in the controller class. Perhaps the load order is overwriting a pointer? Help would be appreciated... kind regards.

  Hi. I have a little problem with my vim config. RestoreSession() if argc() == 0 "vim called without arguments execute 'source ~/.vim/session/Session.vim' end endfunction autocmd VimEnter * call RestoreSession() The colorsheme work, but the font has way to much spacing. Every sentence is twice as long. I installed the Inconsolata font and I have the same config on my windows 7 box and it works fine.

• Deleting entity with child relationships using .Net Entity Framework problem

  My God, EF is so frustrating. I can't seem to be able to get my head around what I need to do so I can delete an object. I seem to be able to remove the object but not the related child objects. Can anyone tell me what is the rule of thumb when you want to delete all related child objects of a given object? I've tried loading all related objects like this: if (!object.childobjects.IsLoaded) object.childobjects.Load(); but once I do the following I get errors related to the relationships: modelcontext.DeleteObject(object); modelcontext.SaveChanges(); Why can't I just load the object using modelcontext.GetObjectByKey and remove it along with its child objects? My other question is can I delete an object using Entity command like so? DELETE e from objectset as e where e.id = 12 I've tried few variations and all of them throw exceptions.

• In an ASP.NET Web Site Project, what is the best option to manage modular widgets

  We are creating a modular Web Site Project and all the UI is based on simple html pages with javascript widgets. These widgets obtain the data from a WCF class located in the app_code folder. Each widget has 3 files [ js, css , cs] and an image directory: , and we want all these files to be located under the same directory, say: /widgets/mywidget/ The problem is that the .cs file needs to be in the app_code folder to be compiled dynamically and that would break our widget modularity forcing the installator to distribute the widget code in two places. One of the options is use compiled assemblies instead of .cs files and use Assembly.Load() or smthg similar to load them when needed. What other options do you see?

  If I understand it right the new ACT ComboBox Control is Bound once to a given Datasource. But the count of the records I want to bind is very large. So I want to load the content of the ComboBox List via Ajax after the user typed in a few charachters. So at page load the combobox list should be empty and if something is typed in the list is loaded with the typed text as search text. • problem with jtabbedpane in java..

  hai, is it possible to loading of tabs in jtabedpane dyanamically in java.. that means i have frame that consinting of one tabbedpane.. in that i have 10 tabs and in each tab consting of another tabbedpane and in that each tabbedpane has 4 tabs and each tab consisting buttons and textfields...... when i login into my project the next frame takes more time to visible.... this is happens why because i have more tabbedpanes in my frame so that it takes the lot's of time to visible.. my question is.. is it possible to load tabs content dynamically when i click the tab in tabbedpane..... or is it possible to load tabbedpanes fastly......????????

• Sample size and statistical significance in Google Analytics

  I have been asked to compile a report into dropout rates during checkout for a global webstore I have used a sample size over one month as my sample because: google analytics slows to a crawl over larger sample sizes and makes much of the analysis agonisingly small I believe it to be statistically significant and a representative sample My client has asked me why I didn't use yearly figures and wants proof that one month of data is 'statistically significant'. Am I right in thinking that I need to compare the standard deviation of my monthly sample to the yearly sample and ensure that the deviation is under a certain %age? Question: how do I prove one month of Google Analytics data is representative to one year worth of data? Stats: 90k unique views/month ~1.1m per year.

• Cannot loop through Excel 2003 files in SSIS 2008

  Hi, I am trying to execute a SSIS 2008 package on a 64-bit OS and import Excel 2003 files to SQL Server 2008. I have created an OLEDB Connection to the Excel file with a Connection String that retrieves the Excel file from a variable, inside the ForEach Loop Container. The Run64BitRunTime is set to false. I am not able to edit the SQL Command on the OLEDB Source in the Data Flow task. It returns an error : Error 2 Validation error. Load List Staged Table: Load List Staged Table: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "List OLEDB to Excel" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. 0 0 Appreciate any help.

• Application Server or Lightweight Container?

  Let me preface this by saying this is not an actual situation of mine but I'm asking this question more for my own knowledge and to get other people's inputs here. I've used both Spring and EJB3/JBoss, and for the smaller types of applications I've built, Spring (+Tomcat when needed) has been much simpler to use. However, when scaling up to larger applications that require things like load balancing and clustering, is Spring still a viable solution? Or is it time to turn to a solution like EJB3/JBoss when you start to get big enough to need that? I'm not sure if I've scoped the problem well enough to get a good answer, so please let me know. • SoundPool repeating issue for Samsung Galaxy S3

  I'm trying to play a background sound for my application, I use SoundPool class, my problem is that, sound plays well only when I set the loop parameter with zero value, but it doesn't work for any other value. My code for initialization is: soundpool = new SoundPool(4, AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC, 0); soundsMap = new HashMap<Integer, Integer>(); soundsMap.put(1, soundpool.load(this, R.raw.soundfile_1, 1)); soundsMap.put(2, soundpool.load(this, R.raw.soundfile_2, 1)); my code for playing is soundpool.play(1, 0.9f, 0.9f, 1, -1, 1f); as I mentioned sound works when I put (0) instead of (-1) for the loop value, anyone has any idea why (-1) or any value other than (0) doesn't work (there is no output sound) ?

• Ubuntu studio/xubuntu 12.04 instead of Ubuntu 12.04/12.10 for CAD/ arhcitectural workflow. Worth it?

  I am currently using Ubuntu 12.10. So, as described in the title I am planning to install Ubuntu studio. The programs i use are Blender, Maya 2013, NukeX, Bricscad, Sketchup (with wine) and also i am planning to install revit architecture through VirtualBox. Well, I am using a quad-core CPU and i want to have all the power of my system for rendering/modelling. So, i decided to try a more lightweight desktop than unity. Also, what made me to decide this, is that when i tried to install Bricscad v12 the program does not work. So, i thought that if i want something more professional for my work i should have only LTS versions of lightweight Ubuntu. So, my 2 questions are :1) Worth it? 2) Can i have global menu(close,minimize,maximize buttons, menu) like ubuntu/unity? Thanks

  Hi all, I want to able to create reusable user controls within my web app and i'm wondering on how to go about doing so. Should a user controls properties be visible to a form that's using it? What's the best way to go about loading the controls on the user control from the form thats using it? Should there be a public method within the control that allows you to load it from an external form or should the user control be loaded in the page load event Is it okay to nest user controls within user controls? etc...   Lemme explain my problem. I have One ID and 2 Other Fields in a CsV file. the ID connected to a database table. I have to show the curresponding entries in the db and fields from Csv. Need sort the Fields too. My Idea was load into a ClientDataset, lookup to a Query with table and Use sort and show. My Csv have 85 K Records and its taking 120 seconds to load and sort, Its not acceptable. Can you tell me, can I use Bacthmove for this. So I can easily pick fields by a simple query. if I can use Bacthmove Plz give me the guild lines. Also Is there any other Techniques for this? Thanks and Regards, Vijesh V.Nair

• Attempt to use DLL results in error.

  I am using a library (DLL) that uses the Oracle.DataAccess DLL to connect to the database. I am doing in in C# .NET framework 3.5 When I attempt to compile, the compilation takes place, but the executable throws this error message. Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.111.7.20, Culture= neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. Is there some way to get around this? What could be causing this to happen?

• How do I deal with code of bad quality contributed by a third party?

  I've recently been promoted into managing one of our most important projects. Most of the code in this project has been written by a partner of ours, not by ourselves. The code in question is of very questionable quality. Code duplication, global variables, 6-page long functions, hungarian notation, you name it. And it's in C. I want to do something about this problem, but I have very little leverage on our partner, especially since the code, for all its problems, "just works, doesn't it?". To make things worse, we're now nearing the end of this project and must ship soon. Our partner has committed a certain number of person-hours to this project and will not put in more hours. I would very much appreciate any advice or pointers you could give me on how to deal with this situation.
