  • Model View Control Issue: Null Pointer Initialization Question

    - by David Dimalanta
    Good morning again. This is David. Please, I need an urgent help regarding control model view where I making a code that uniquely separating into groups: An Activity Java Class to Display the Interface A View and Function Java Class for Drawing Cards and Display it on the Activity Class The problem is that the result returns a Null Pointer Exception. I have initialize for the ID for Text View and Image View. Under this class "draw_deck.java". Please help me. Here's my code for draw_deck.java: package com.bodapps.inbetween.model; import android.content.Context; import android.view.View; import android.widget.ImageView; import android.widget.TextView; import com.bodapps.inbetween.R; public class draw_deck extends View { public TextView count_label; public ImageView draw_card; private int count; public draw_deck(Context context) { super(context); // TODO Auto-generated constructor stub //I have initialized two widgets for ID. • How to rotate a drawable with anti-aliasing enabled

    - by Mike
    I need to rotate an ImageView by a few degrees. I'm doing this by subclassing ImageView and overloading onDraw() @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { canvas.save(); canvas.scale(0.92f,0.92f); canvas.translate(14, 0); canvas.rotate(1,0,0); super.onDraw(canvas); canvas.restore(); } The problem is that the image that results shows a bunch of jaggies. How can I antialias an ImageView that I need to rotate in order to eliminate jaggies? Is there a better way to do this?

I want to get path of image(url) by using AsyncTask from JSON. • How do I create an ImageView in java code, within an existing Layout?

    - by Dan T
    I'm looking for an easy way for the user to see how many drinks they've had for a BAC calculator. PICTURE OF THE APP, for reference On button press, I would like an image to be added to the screen, directly under the spinner and with left alignment. When I press the button again, I want another image to be added to the screen. So if I pressed the add beer button, a drawable of a beer would appear below the spinner. If I pressed the add beer button again, I want there to be TWO drawables of beers under the spinner, preferably with them being added from the right. (Also, having them reach their width limit, wrapping around, and starting again on the left, but below a full line, would be AWESOME) I can't figure out how to do this. I assume adding a ImageView in code to a relative layout (because it needs to be positioned to the right) would be the best route, but if it's possible in xml I'd be more than happy to use that. Any help?

  • ListSelector applies to the entire list

    I have a simple list with a listselector like so. <ListView android:id="@+id/list" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_below="@+id/round" android:listSelector="#99000000" android:clickable="true" android:cacheColorHint="#00000000" android:background="#00000000"> </ListView> As you can see android:listSelector="#99000000" but the "black alpha" color is applied to the entire list, not the selected item. • Multiple shapes on Android

    - by LucaB
    Hi Hi I'm trying to build a layout where some shapes will popup every 2 seconds. If the user will click one of these shapes, they have to disappear. What is the correct way of doing this? I thought about a thread, but i missed out. Here's my code at the moment (is not working): public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); l = new LinearLayout(this); setContentView(l); int counter = 1; View v = new CustomDrawableView(this,20,50); l.addView(v); Thread t = new Thread() { public void run() { while (true) { Log.i("THREAD","INSIDE"); View h = new CustomDrawableView(c, (int)Math.round(Math.random()*100), (int)Math.round(Math.random()*100)); SystemClock.sleep(2000); l.addView(h); } } }; t.start(); }

  • ImageViews sometimes not displaying in FrameLayout activity

    - by Ken
    The top level layout in my activity is a framelayout. I have completed, debugged and tested this app and it works exactly like it should in all respects on my g1 and on various emulators. But on 3.7-inch displays running 2.1+, some imageviews packed in a linearlayout are periodically not visible. I know that they are there because you can touch and drag them with effect in the app. So I assume somehow they have gotten under the SurfaceView that is the main component of the app. This is apparently so even though the SurfaceView is declared in the xml prior to the LinearLayout. However, the ImageViews IN the LinearLayout are added programmatically towards the end of onCreate(). Framelayout stacks everything that is added to it, one on top of the other--the only way you will see more than one child of a frame layout is if they are smaller than the screen and are placed apart from eachother. Oddly, sometimes the imageviews ARE visible--it is random. Anyway, I've been trying to combat this with framelayout.bringChildToFront(View v) on the linearlayout without success. I wonder if anyone has any insight into how the behavior could be random like that, and how I should code these imageviews to keep this from happening, and why the problem appears only to occur on 3.7 vs 3.2 inch screens (as it happens, the two 3.2-inch screens were both htc, so vendor might be factor too). [edit] Actually, I've determined that this is a 2.2 issue, not a screen size (or even vendor) issue. Can't ensure that ImageViews added to a framelayout with a SurfaceView in it will appear on top of the surfaceview. I ran some tests in the respective onDraw() methods and the imageviews are 'visible' (0), and nothing does anything to the alpha of the drawables, which are there as well at ondraw(). [/edit] Any insight would be welcomed. Ken T.

  • TabHost / TabWidget - Scale Background Image ?

    - by user359519
    I need to scale my TabWidget background images so they maintain aspect ratio. I am using a TabHost with a TabWidget. I am then using setBackgroundDrawable to set the images. I found a close answer here - Background in tab widget ignore scaling. However, I'm not sure just where to add the new Drawable code. (Working with the HelloTabWidget example, none of my modules use RelativeLayout, and I don't see any layout for "tabcontent".) I also found this thread - Android: Scale a Drawable or background image?. According to it, it sounds like I would have to pre-scale my images, which defeats the whole purpose of making them scaleable. I also found another thread where someone subclassed the Drawable class so it would either not scale, or it would scale properly. I can't find it now, but that seems like a LOT to go through when you should just be able to do something simple like mTab.setScaleType(centerInside). Here's my code: main.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TabHost xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@android:id/tabhost" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:background="@drawable/main_background"> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <FrameLayout android:id="@android:id/tabcontent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1"/> <TabWidget android:id="@android:id/tabs" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="0"/> </LinearLayout> </TabHost> main activity: tabHost.setOnTabChangedListener(new OnTabChangeListener() { TabHost changedTabHost = getTabHost(); TabWidget changedTabWidget = getTabWidget(); View changedView = changedTabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(0); public void onTabChanged(String tabId) { int selectedTab = changedTabHost.getCurrentTab(); TabWidget tw = getTabWidget(); if(selectedTab == 0) { //setTitle("Missions Timeline"); View tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(0); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_timeline_on)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(1); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_map_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(2); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_search_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(3); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_news_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(4); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_license_off)); //ImageView iv = (ImageView)tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(0).findViewById(android.R.id.icon); //iv.setImageDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_timeline_on)); //iv = (ImageView)tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(1).findViewById(android.R.id.icon); //iv.setImageDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_map_off)); } else if (selectedTab == 1) { //setTitle("Spinoffs Around You"); View tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(0); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_timeline_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(1); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_map_on)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(2); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_search_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(3); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_news_off)); tempView = tabHost.getTabWidget().getChildAt(4); tempView.setBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_license_off)); } I also tried 9patch images, but they wind up being too small. So, what's the best way to go about this?

  • selector for button not working

    - by user1662334
    I want to change the background of the button when the button is unclickable.I have used selector for that but it is not working in the case when the button remains unclickable. This is the selector file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_enabled="false" android:drawable="@drawable/button_lightgrey" /> <item android:state_pressed="true" android:state_enabled="true" android:drawable="@drawable/button_blue"/> <item android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@drawable/button_darkgreen" /> <item android:drawable="@drawable/button_lightgreen" /> </selector> This is the button where i am using this selector file: <Button android:id="@+id/PrevButton" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:layout_marginLeft="5.0dip" android:layout_weight="1.0" android:background="@drawable/ibtn" android:onClick="onPrevButtonClick" android:text="Prev" /> Please help me.All other functions are working in the selector file but only the unclickable button case is not working.Thanks

  • Click in a ListView item changes status of elements inside the item?

    - by Antonio
    Hi, I don't know exactly how to explain this problem, but I'll try. I have a ListView with several items. Each item has inside a TextView and two ImageView. I want the ImageView change when I click on them, and I want to open a context menu when I press for a long time into the ListView item. For the ImageView, everything works properly. For the whole item, I can show the context menu after a long press, but my problem is that the ImageView changes as well when I am pressing the TextView, for example. Somo pieces of my code: ListView item: <TextView android:id="@+id/title" android:textColor="@color/black" android:maxLines="2" android:textSize="14dip" /> <ImageView android:id="@+id/minus" android:src="@drawable/minusbutton" android:adjustViewBounds="true" android:gravity="center" /> <ImageView android:id="@+id/plus" android:src="@drawable/plusbutton" android:adjustViewBounds="true" android:gravity="center" /> Drawable to change the status of the plus button: <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_enabled="false" android:drawable="@drawable/button_add_normal_disabled" /> <item android:state_enabled="true" android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/button_add_pressed" /> <item android:state_enabled="true" android:state_focused="true" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/button_add_active" /> <item android:state_enabled="true" android:state_focused="false" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/button_add_normal" /> I hope you understand my problem. I think that all the children of a view are affected by an event in the parent, but I am not sure. Do you have a solution? Thanks in advance

  • possible xml elements in Android resources xmls ?

    - by Vijay C
    I recently came across a forum post in thelink text android developers group. (link below) It has one post which contains following xml. It is xml file which can be used in drawable folder. <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <!-- Non focused states --> <item android:state_focused="false" android:state_selected="false" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/tab_unselected" /> <item android:state_focused="false" android:state_selected="true" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/tab_selected" /> <!-- Focused states --> <item android:state_focused="true" android:state_selected="false" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/tab_focus" /> <item android:state_focused="true" android:state_selected="true" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/tab_focus"/> <!-- Pressed --> <item android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/tab_press" /> </selector> Now my question is, where is the documentation which tells me that i can use the following xml tags <selector> , <item>, <color>, <integer-array>, <string-array> and many others tag to create xml resources...? I hope, i have explained what i want to know ?

  • Will my game engine be compatible with physics engines?

    - by Bane
    My engine supports Scene handling, Cameras, and has a Renderer. Also, it has a class called Drawable, which has the position, the shape and the picture of an object. The picture property has width, height, rotation and a draw method. All game objects are supposed to inherit from this Drawable class, and are added to the Scene, along with a Map (collection of Tiles, that also inherit from Drawable), lights, and so on and so forth. The shape property of a Drawable is a Polygon, a collection of user defined vertices around the position of a Drawable (this is a relative coordinate system, so [0, 0] is the position of the Drawable. With this setup, will the users of my engine (probably only me) still be able to intergrate physics engines such as Box2DJS into their games?

  • Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK in eclipse

    - by user3014909
    I have an unexpe`ted problem with my Android project. I have a real android device with ice_cream sandwich installed. My app was working fine during the development but after I added a class to the project, I got an error: Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK The problem is that everything is good in the manifest file. The minSdkversion is 8. Here is my manifest file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="zabolotnii.pavel.timer" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0" > <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="8" android:targetSdkVersion="18 " /> <application android:allowBackup="true" android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/AppTheme" > <activity android:name="zabolotnii.pavel.timer.TimerActivity" android:label="@string/app_name" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> </manifest> I don't know, if there is any need to attach the new class ,but I didn't any changes to other code that should led to this error: package zabolotnii.pavel.timer; • Android ImageButton with a selected state?

    - by Joren
    If I was using an ImageButton with a selector for its background, is there a state I can change which will make it change its appearance? Right now I can get it to change images when pressed, but there seems to be no "highlighted" or "selected" or similar state which lets me toggle it's appearance at will. Here's my XML, it only changes appearance when pressed. <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_focused="true" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@drawable/map_toolbar_details_selected" /> <item android:state_focused="true" android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/map_toolbar_details_selected" /> <item android:state_focused="false" android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/map_toolbar_details_selected" /> <item android:drawable="@drawable/map_toolbar_details" />
