  I am a math teacher who uses Word 2008 on the Mac, and I need to collaborate with other teachers who are using Word 2007 under Windows. When they send me a document with mathematical equations in it, I can open it but not see the equations or the document loses formatting such as superscript for exponents. On this page of Known Issues in Word 2008, Microsoft says, Equations saved from Word 2007 for Windows do not appear in Word 2008 for Mac Equations saved in Word 2007 for Windows are not supported in Word 2008 for Mac. The equations will be preserved so that they display correctly in Word 2007, but will appear as placeholders in Word 2008. What can I do to collaborate with users of Word 2007 on mathematical documents?

• Slowness on Exchange 2007 Server (network related we think)

  We are seeing some odd behavior out of our exchange 2007 server. I believe it is network related as during the slowness in response from the exchange server. During these times downloading files to server is fraught with connection resets and extreme slow download speeds that are not affecting other servers right on the same subnet with the same gateway and ISP. We have about 50 users at a time using Outlook 2003 from a terminal server not displaying any other signs of slowness, all network slowness is confirmed trying downloads on the exchange server itself. Checked for virus issues, there are none. Checked for hardware issues, none found I am noticing between 200-400 TCPv4 connections established I am seeing around 100k tcpv4(active) connections according to perfmon are these numbers odd? Has anyone run into anything similar? Our server has a gigbabit NIC linked to a gigabit switch using cat6 so I do not believe it is "physical". Thanks!

  Afternoon all, I have four resources; a project manager, and three developers. The project manager can work anywhere from 9 to 5pm each day, but only for a total of 10 hours per week. It doesn't matter when he works, as long as he isn't over-allocated 10 hours per week. The developers on the other hand can only work up to 2 hours per day, for a total of 10 hours per week. If they work more than 2 hours in a day, they are over-allocated. How do I best configure Project to handle this kind of scheduling requirement?

• Default sending all mails from the one account on Outlook 2007

  I have two email accounts configured on my outlook 2007. One account is connecting to my exchange server which is the default I have another account connecting to my gmail. I want to by default send or reply all the emails that I receive on my gmail account through my exchange server account only. When I try replying to the email that I receive from the gmail account it gets defaulted to the same (gmail account). I need to manually change it to exchange server account. I want that to be changed to exchange server account by default for all the mails that I send or reply to. I don't want to do the manual process mentioned below in steps: Step 1: In the message window, click Account. Step 2: Click the account that you want to use. Is there a way to set the exchange server account for sending and replying to all emails on outlook irrespective of the number of accounts that I have on outlook. I have my outlook installed on a windows 2003 server.

Since I'm in a select agreement, I've gone into the Volume Licensing Service Center and downloaded the following three ISOs: Office Multilanguage Packs 2007 (DVD) Office Multilanguage Packs 2007 (CD) Office Multilanguage Pack 2007 Service Pack 1 But having mounted the ISOs in my RDS host, I still can't install anything they contain. I am quite probably doing something wrong, or maybe I need to be running Office pro version? please F1

• Automate configuration change on Outlook 2007

  I am migrating a bunch of mailboxes to google apps. Each user owns several mailboxes each serving different domains (john has [email protected], [email protected], and so on...) Currently, those accounts are hosted on (edit:NOT an exchange server) an old SMTP/POP server we want to replace, and I need to edit their outlook 2007 configuration to change the pop, smtp and password parameters. The hard way to do it is to connect to each outlook session and edit the parameters manually. I want to avoid that. Because that represents over 700 accounts spread between 40 users... :'( How can I automate this configuration change ? In the active directory ? Using a PRF file ? note: I'm a linux sysadmin with very little knowledge of windows's black magic.

  So I have this SharePoint 2007 site that is basically trash. I'm supposed to just toss it, but I'm in need of copying all of the data in form of traditional files and folders from certain projects. And since the transaction log is full, it's so damn slow. Even opening SharePoint takes up to 15 minutes, or it won't open at all. Copying of files is extremely slow. So I'm in need of a quick fix here. Just to be able to copy out some files and folders. I don't need to fix the problem per se. What can I do to fix it temporarily to be able to copy out the data?

• OWA draft folder doesn't sync up wint Outlook 2007 (when using Citrix)

  I have a user logging in to Citrix Server (on Windows 2003) to use Outlook 2007. In OWA, he sees all his drafts in Draft Folder and can easily access them, but when he is Citrix, he can see the folder, but not the messages. I had him check Normal and Favorite Folders under View - Navigation Pane as well as execute outlook /cleanviews to no help. I should also clarify, we host exchange locally and it syncs up with Outlook 2007 in Citrix. Remote users use either OWA for access or login to Citrix and use Outlook 2007. In his case ALL folders appear in Outlook 2007, but draft folder doesn't show any saved messages, even though in OWA messages are there and he can edit, delete and send them. Please, help! Thanks!!!

  I have recently setup Exhchange Server 2007. The server is smarthosting outgoing messages. Users have 'request delivery receipt' on by default their 'auditing' purposes in Outlook. They would like the original email attached to the delivery notification as was the case in Exchange Server 2003. I need this same functionality in 2007. The question has been asked here, here and here but cannot find a valid solution. Here's some information about the functionality in Exchange 2003. The question is, can i replication this functionality in 2007? Here is what a 2007 delivery message looks like: I know it's possible to customize DSN's. Can I make a custom DSN for this type of message and have the original included as an attachment? Anyone got any other ideas?

  I have simple server Windows 2008 Standart SP2 with Exchange 2007 with apply SP1. Only one DC and one Exchange server (not exist Edge) in the same server. I have first distribution group by name "[email protected]" with 10 users. Working with internal and external mail correctly. I have second distribution group by name "[email protected]" with 3 users. Working with internal mail correctly, but external mail delivery failed 2 from 3 users. Only 1 users proclaims that external mail delivered correctly. Those 3 users they are too member of distribution group [email protected]" . I am not found in the eventlog any problem with Exchange server. Any user and any distribution group not check the box "Require that all senders are authenticated." Any ideas on how to solve the problem?

  I created a couple of rooms in Exchange 2007 (http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/management-administration/managing-resource-mailboxes-exchange-server-2007-part1.html)and I want to logon to OWA to manage resource settings but I can't logon to the mailboxes via OWA because of an invalid password error. I've reset it but still no luck. I've granted myself full permissions to the mailbox and try to access via my account but I just get a popup of my own account in the browser (ie9 and ie8). What's going on here?

• MOSS 2007 SP2 - Error while provisioning SSP.

  This is a brand new installation I am trying to provision the first SSP for MOSS and I keep getting the following error: (Provisioning failed: A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.)) The error also keeps appearing in the Application Event Log as event ID 7888. Google searches tell me its a connection between the Sharepoint server and the SQL server however, this is a production SQL Server which has several databases on it that do not experience any problems. These databases also include the Central Admin and Web Application databases for Sharepoint which are all working fine. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  I'm trying to put together a relatively complex flow-chart thing -as part of a University assignment (health-related, and gosh, does my university love all things Microsoft Office...). Because of the way the chart progresses I have to connect two objects with a 'double elbow' version of the 'elbow arrow connector.' I accept that perhaps this complexity means I should redesign the chart, but I've tried and failed to simplify things already.   There used to be a check-box in preferences in Excel 2003 to disable moving down on Enter key after you edited a cell. Where could I find that setting in Excel 2007? <whining on>It drives me insane how microsoft trashes users skills and "fingers" memory to make what their new users may be will find easier. What about us, using these products for ten years?<whining off> I want to control moving around with arrow keys, and Enter to only return me from the cell editing mode to navigation, not moving down. I'm not in a data entry business!! I'm analyzing data, editing just few cells time-to-time.

  We Have : Exchange 2007 Standard Edition IBM System X3650 2 x Intel Xeon 5430 2.66 GHz Version 8.1 Build 240.6 Mailbox, Hub Transport, Client Access Role Installed on One Box Total Number of Mailboxes : 110 - 130 6 Physical Disks Disk 0,1 (68 GB) = Raid-1, OS Partition ( C: Partition) Disk 2,3 (279GB) = Raid-1, Exchange Database (First and Second Storage Groups) ( D: Partition ) Disk 4,5 (68 GB) = Raid-1, Exchange Transaction Logs ( E: Partition ) Setup: Storage Groups : D:\First Storage group\Mailbox database.edb Storage Groups : D:\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database.edb Transaction Logs : E Partition Problem 1: On our D Partition (Mailbox Database Partition), total size is 279 GB, free space remaining is 64.7 GB, when I select the first storage group and second storage group folders and right click properties they report a size of 165 GB. Mailbox database reports a size of 157GB when right clicked Properties. where as the size displayed in the folder is 164,893,456 KB So, we are missing around 50-54 GB, there is nothing else on these drives, no page file, nothing at all. The partition housing the Transaction logs is reporting the sizes accurately. Any suggestions / fixes on the above ? Problem 2: As you may have already read in Problem 1, the size of the mailbox database is 157GB or 164GB reported; which is not recommended, a) What would you suggest we should do to divide mailboxes in storage groups on this same server ? b) How would we move mailboxes into different storage groups ? c) This is the information store size ? (Am I right in thinking that this is not recommended) d) Having multiple storage groups with one Mailbox DB in each, would that reduce the size of the Information Store? e) Any suggestions / how-to reduce the size of information store ? We didn't install this, we have inherited this - what other recommendations you can make in order to keep ourselves better prepared for any server disaster? We are backing up with Yosemite Backup on RD1000 (320GB) at the moment, which is backing up successfully, flushing the logs daily. We haven't done a test restore YET. I have tried to provide as much info as possible, please let me know if you need further info. Also, we haven't yet faced any problems in mailflow, access speeds, everything is working fine, we have two to five people accessing OWA or Outlook via vpn only. • MOSS 2007 SP2 DB index maintanance

  I've read in the "About Service Pack 2 for SharePoint Products and Technologies" paper that SP2 includes an update for the Update Statistics Timer Job that causes SharePoint to run SQL Server's online index rebuild feature (p.4). I'm uncertain of the terminology here but is this the rebuild that SQL Server uses for minor fragmentation (up to around 40%) and leaves the DB online? I'm also guessing that this will therefore not rebuild severely fragmented indexes as I think this requires the DB to come offline. Can someone please confirm my belief here?

• Upgrading my Active Directory domain from Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2

  We are currently a single domain on a single network running Server 2003 Standard and Exchange 2007. I have a new server up and running (added to the domain already) with Server 2008 R2 on it. I want this to become my Primary Domain Controller, thus replacing my old Server 2003 server. I know I should just be able to run dcpromo on the new server, then decomission my old server, and raise my domain functional level to match the 2008 server. My only concern is the Exchange 2007 server. Is there anything I need to know relevant to it before I start? Thanks!

• Excel 2003 charts not looking right in 2007

  I'm not exactly sure this goes here but I don't know where else to look for help. I have some Excel files containing charts made with Excel 2003. When I open the file in Excel 2007 and save it (non 2007) is messes up the charts. However, when in Excel 2007 and I Save as a .xlsx type the charts don't mess up. Is there any help for me to be able to not have the charts mess up when simply saving the 2003 file with Excel 2007? Hope that's confusing. Thanks.

  I have Office 2007 and Office 2010 installed side-by-side. How do I stop the setup / configuration window from appearing each time I open a different version? If I open 2007, it will go through the configuration process, then I can use 2007 without issue until I open a 2010 application. Then, when I open any 2010 Office application it will go through the configuration process.
