  • Why can't mplayer/libdvdcss/whatever play my DVDs?

    To put it bluntly, mplayer is unable to correctly play video DVDs. It seems to correctly find the title and everything, but the picture is broken or not displayed at all, with messages like: a52: CRC check failed! a52: error at resampling [mpeg1video @ 0xa8d840]sequence header damaged [mpeg1video @ 0xa8d840]Missing picture start code Now, this all is on amd64 Gentoo Linux system. I believe the problem is not in mplayer itself, since the playback also breaks in VLC or when i copy the VOBs via vobcopy and try to play them afterwards. I use libdvdcss-1.2.10 and libdvdread-4.1.3_p1168 (current stable in Gentoo), and tried previous versions of both libs, but it didn't change a thing. The DVDs I have tried play fine in regular DVD player or on a Windows laptop. I remember the playback used to work about a year ago and I don't know what to try next. Any hints would be welcome.

  • Software that will burn DVDs with a SFV or Pararchive file for each disc?

    I'd like to burn several thousand RAW files (.DNG) of around 10-30 MB each to DVD to backup my photo archive. I'm looking for software that can do this and include an SFV-type file on each disc burnt. These are my requirements: compression is optional, and probably not desirable due to the extra time involved files should be spread amongst the discs as self-contained units, i.e. I don't want to have to load files from more than one disc to be able to read the files on that disc, so that excludes WinRAR's spanning options I don't want to spend time writing ISO images first as this will be a task I'll need to repeat often as I add new images to my archive - the software should write to the DVDs for me as simply as possible I'd like the SFV/Pararchive/recovery record to be stored with the files on each disc, so it only references the files on that particular disk Thanks in advance!

  • Problem with APTonCD application

    I created a iso image using aptoncd & burned it to a dvd. now when i tried to restore, the program does not detect the dvd in the drive. It shows "Please insert a disc in the drive." and if we click "ok" it shows "E: Failed to mount the cdrom.". The dvd is in the drive itself.   • Windows 8 not booting from DVD while trying to install in a Ubuntu 14.04 system

    Currently my system runs on Ubuntu 14.04. Yesterday, I deleted and formatted the partition(C drive) as NTFS in which Windows 7 was installed because Windows 7 was not booting for more than a week. I have a Windows 8 disk and it was able to boot from that disk when there was Windows 7 on my system. After the formatting of C drive yesterday, I tried to install Windows 8 by booting from the disk. Unfortunately, this time no booting happened from the disk. So I pressed F2 during the system start up and checked Boot Device Priority, Optical Drive has the first priority there. So why Windows 8 didn't boot from the disk ? I need to install Windows 8 too in my system without doing any damage to Ubuntu 14.04. How can I do it ?

  • What is the best ways to duplicate DVDs in bulk?

    I have some instructional videos I am getting ready to release on DVD and I want to know what is the quickest and most cost effective way to produce these in bulk? I am open to both customized PC based software/hardware solutions as well as dedicated hardware appliances which perform the same function. All options considered seriously. I don't have a problem building a system for this purpose. If I build something I would prefer it have the ability to make multiple copies at once. I figure I will need to make about 300 copies initially.

  • Splitting an archive on multiple media

    I'm generating archives which are larger than my current physical media ( DVD ). I'd like to split those archives: automatically - instead of generating mini-archives by hand; consistently - so that an archive can be extracted independently of another. For instance for a tree of 24GB which would be archived into 10GB I would get 3 archives, all of them < 4.7 GB and each of them being able to be extracted without the other 2. I'm using dirvish so I'm archiving a filesystem tree. Update: I'm using Linux.

  • ripping interlaced video to 60fps (frames per second)

    It would appear that Broadcast Television is often 1080i30 (60 fields/s), and non-movie DVDs (example, instructional or TV shows) are 60fields/s as well, at some lower resolution (480i?) However, almost all video that ends up on the internet, whether in x264-encoded content, Youtube, etc. is 30 frames per second, that is to say , it is progressive scan. However, when you watch content on your TV, I'm guessing the TV converts it to progressive for you, but the end result is a very fluid picture that "feels" quite a bit like 60frames/s. What is the best way to obtain this result when ripping interlaced content sourced from TV or DVDs? Can I rip a DVD that is 60 fields per second to 60 frames per second? I would imagine classic deinterlace filters do not do this, they merge fields and create a 30fps output. I'm using handbrake.

  • Why won't AVI2DVD load the audio stream?

    XP SP3 I have an .avi file. It is in a folder on my "C:" drive. There are no disallowed characters in either the folder or file name. It has audio as I have watched it on my computer. I want to burn it to a DVD. When I load the file into AVI2DVD, no audio stream shows, and the program will not work without an audio stream. I have used the net extensively to try and solve this, with no success. AFICT I have followed all instructions exactly, but no audio stream. Very frustrating. Does anyone have a clue?     Suppose I want to burn just the 6000th byte(if thats not possible say the 10th sector) on a CDR without touching anyother region. Sounds possible but is there any tool to accomplish this. Yeah sure, there may be no clear point doing this but is this possible technically?. (Doesnt matter maintaining the CDFS, integrity or whatever standard here. Just the task.) It would be great to know if there are any software regarding this.

    Does anyone have experience in developing a standalone app with Silverlight using SQLite database? App should be distributed on CD or DVD for Windows OS and has to have autorun, with possibility to install .NET Framework if needed.   • Acer Aspire One 725 - missing graphic card driver for Radeon HD 6290?

    Recently I bought an Acer Aspire One 725 Netbook and installed Ubuntu 12.10 on it. I bought it, because it can run HD movies and has Full HD on external VGA port. However, movies from youtube have a really slow framerate. If you open three tabs in Opera (for example g-mail, youtube and askubuntu) it gets really laggy. My suspicion is that the driver for graphic card is missing. When I check the System->Details->Graphics the driver is unknown. After running lspci | grep VGA I get this output: 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Device 980a From what I see, I have a AMD C70 processor integrated with (or something similar) AMD Radeon HD 6290. Has anyone had the same problem? Do you know which drivers need to be installed for the graphics to work properly? On official Acer page there are only drivers for Win7 and Win8...   • New Dvds with 99 Title tracks, which one is the correct track?

    I have embarked on the task of backing up my DVD collection. I have noticed that some of the newer movies I am attempting to rip contain 99 Title tracks all with approximately equal overall run times. I use MacTheRipper to rip the DVDs and Handbrake to encode them. My question is, is there a site somewhere that has information regarding which Title track to select? Disclaimer: I cannot stress this enough, I legally own these DVDs. I am merely making a digital copy. Two examples of such DVDs are Star Trek and Carriers. UPDATE: Just an FYI each most of these 99 tracks appear to be the full length tracks. There times look to be very similar to the overall movie run time (within a few seconds of each other). So using the time isn't a valid way to tell which is the correct track. Opening the movie with VLC seems to be the best way to tell. Thank you all.

  • Windows 7 DVD doesn't boot up, neither does USB. :'(

    My problem is that i'm not able to install windows 7. Been trying to install this since past 1 week. The methods i've tried are: I have a windows 7 bootable DVD which doesnt boot up. (I've set BIOS to boot from DVD ROM first but it just won't boot from the DVD). Tried to install Windows 7 from the same DVD to a friend's PC and it worked. So the DVD has no issues. I tried to run 'Setup.exe' from within the DVD. The two options pop-up 'Check compatibility' and 'Install now'. On clicking install now, after sometime, an error is encountered with the message 'Windows was unable to create a required installation folder' error code:0x8007000D. I am running Windows XP Professional and there's only one user on the PC which is the Admin, so i do not know why is the setup not getting permissions. I've also uninstalled my antivirus, CD burning software, disabled firewall and disconnected all other devices, but its still the same. I tried to install it from a USB device by making it bootable but that too doesnt work. (Yes the mobo supports booting from the USB). The problem is that XP does not recognize a 'USB' device on boot. Rather it shows this USB stick as a removable 'Hard Drive'. Furthermore, i changed the order of Hard Drive boot to boot from this removable Hard Drive first, it still boots my existing OS. Is there anything else that can be done? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :) Please ask if any other information is required, this post is becomimg increasingly long to add any other details. PS: I want to dual boot windows 7 with my existing XP, but that would be after i manage to run the windows 7 setup in the first place. PPS: Please bare with any 'not-so-technical' terms, i am a beginner with this. Again, thank you for taking the time and trying to help, really appreciate it. :)

  • Basic video editor for AVCHD Lite files?

    I have a camera (Panasonic Lumix GF-1) that outputs "AVCHD Lite" files, 720p h264 in a MTS container. I saw this question that said Movie Maker in Windows 7 supports AVCHD...but I just tried, and unfortunately it does not support AVCHD Lite. Are there any free or inexpensive non-linear video editors (NLE) that can natively handle AVCHD Lite files, without requiring some 3rd party driver? If not, are there any 3rd party drivers that are especially stable? (In my experience they usually have some problems...I got AVCHD Lite loading into VirtualDub using a 3rd party plugin, but it's very slow and sometimes crashes, and seeking takes ages.

    When I bought "traditional" hard drives, I have been told to consider specs like RPM (5400, 7200, etc.), buffer size (16MB, 32MB etc.), and interface (IDE, SATA, etc.). (did I miss something?) What about solid state drives (SSD)? What are some important specs to consider in terms of performance and reliability? By the way, are SSDs just as reliable as traditional hard drives now? A couple years ago I heard they're not, but that's a "long time" ago now. Thanks for your answer.

I implemented as mentioned at several places the: target-densityDpi=device-dpi < meta content="minimum-scale=1.0, width=device-width, , target- densityDpi=device-dpi, maximum-scale=0.6667, user-scalable=no" name="viewport" / it works great within the 'android browser' but in my Webview Application it still resize!!
