• How do I suppress asp:image AlternateText from html escaping?

  I have an asp:Image -- which I'm assigning "alt" and "tooltip" from the code behind. Unfortunately the value which is coming from the database is getting automatically html escaped -- which I do now want it to -- how do I suppress this? For example my trademark html entity is doing this -- &#174; gets changed to --> &amp;#174 -- which is incorrect Here's my code in the aspx: <asp:Image runat="server" ID="MainImage" Width="260" /> Do I have any options? • Hibernate, alter identifier/primary key

  I receive the following exception when Im trying to alter my @ID in an @Entity. identifier of an instance of com.google.search.pagerank.ItemEntity was altered from 1 to 2. I know that im altering the primary key in my table. Im using JPA-annotations. I solved this by using this single HQL query: update Table set name=:newName where name=:oldName instead of using the more oo approach: beginTransaction(); T e = session.load(...); e.setName(newName); session.saveOrUdate(e); commit(); Any idea what the diff is?

• jQuery Plugin: Adding Callback functionality

  I'm trying to give my plugin callback functionality, and I'd like for it to operate in a somewhat traditional way: myPlugin({options}, function() { /* code to execute */ }); or myPlugin({options}, anotherFunction()); How do I handle that parameter in the code? Is it treated as one full entity? I'm pretty sure I know where I'd place the executory code, but how do I get the code to execute? I can't seem to find a lot of literature on the topic, so thanks in advance for your help.

• How To Configure Query Cacheing in EclipseLink

  I have a collection of states, that I want to cache for the life of the application, preferably after it is called for the first time. I'm using EclipseLink as my persistence provider. In my EJB3 entity I have the following code: @Cache @NamedQueries({ @NamedQuery( name = "State.findAll", query = "SELECT s FROM State s", hints = { @QueryHint(name=QueryHints.CACHE_USAGE, value=CacheUsage.CheckCacheThenDatabase), @QueryHint(name=QueryHints.READ_ONLY, value=HintValues.TRUE) } ) }) This doesn't seem to do anything though, if I monitor the SQL queries going to MySQL it still does a select each time my Session Bean uses this NamedQuery. What is the correct way to configure this query so that it is only ever read once from the database, preferably across all sessions? Edit: I am calling the query like this: Query query = em.createNamedQuery("State.findAll"); List<State> states = query.getResultList();

• How can I evaluate a deferred Linq statement when debugging?

  I'm debugging in VS2010, and I want to inspect a string value but all I can get the debugger to show me (through watches, hovering, locals, etc.) is: "System.Linq.Enumerable+<TakeIterator>d__3a`1[System.Char]" I don't care if there are side effects from premature evaluation or whatever, I just want to see what the expression would evaluate to if I evaluate it right now at the current breakpoint. How is this done? Also can I change my code in such a way that it evaluates earlier? Not that I care when I'm not debugging... but just wondering. In case it is relevant... (I doubt it.) I'm stuffing a new entity object before saving it to the database... some fields are assigned with LINQ statements, I'm not sure when they get evaluated under the covers of EF. The DB update fails with 'string or binary data would be truncated... So I'm trying to find the too-long field.

  hey guys i have a tag table in my php/mysql project that looks like this Table name : bt_tags Table fileds : tid,tag and for every story rows there is a filed named : tags Table name: stories table filed : tags that saved in this field as ids 1 5 6 space between them now problem : when using while loop to fetch all fields in story table , the page uses 1 query to show every stories' detail but for showing tag's names , i should query another table to find names , we have ids stored in story table now i used for loop between while loop to show tag names but im sure there is a better way to decrease page queries how can i improve this script and show tag's names without using *for loop ?* $result = $db->sql_query("SELECT * FROM ".STORY_TABLE." • R matrix handling expressions aren't evaluated in a function or a "for" loop - Column extract doesn't seem to work

  I have an R matrix named ddd. When I enter this, everything works fine: i <- 1 shapiro.test(ddd[,y]) ad.test(ddd[,y]) stem(ddd[,y]) print(y) The calls to Shapiro Wilk, Anderson Darling, and stem all work, and extract the same column. If I put this code in a "for" loop, the calls to Shapiro Wilk, and Anderson Darling stop working, while the the stem & leaf call and the print call continue to work. for (y in 7:10) { shapiro.test(ddd[,y]) ad.test(ddd[,y]) stem(ddd[,y]) print(y) } The decimal point is 1 digit(s) to the right of the | 0 | 0 0 | 899999 1 | 0 [1] 7 The same thing happens if I try and write a function. SW & AD do not work. The other calls do. • Database permissions and ORMs

  I've been using .NET's Entity Framework a lot lately and have absolutely no wish to go back to using Stored Procedures. Been shocked though that the company I'm building this project for had a policy where applications were only given accounts that only had permissions to access stored procedures! Apparently, they believe that there's a security risk involved in allowing applications to access the tables/views directly. I don't get this. My first question is, can someone enlighten me as to what kind of security risk applications having direct access to the database may pose? AND If that's the case, are there any other ORM solutions that can provide a workaround to this (I can't think of any logical possibility atm) that would allow me to circumvent the restrictions on the user account to be assigned to me? OR is my understanding that I'd need direct permissions for the tables and views wrong?

  I have a website hosted in a server named msa_inst_server. In my login page ,after user enter the username,i will check whether cookies are available or not,But when i access the login page in IE 6.0 in one machine in the local network,I am getting a pop up saying that I have added the site to trusted zone,changed the settings to allow all cookies.But no way to get rid of this problem. Any thoughts.... ? Does the underscore in the server name matters ? Thanks in advance

• HQL: illegal attempt to dereference collection

  The situation is like this: I have an entity Book that holds a one-to-many relationship with Chapter. Now if I try the query, "from Book book inner join book.chapters chapter where chapter.title like '%hibernate%'", it gives me the desired result. But if I try, "from Book where book.chapters.title like '%hibernate%'", I get the error illegal attempt to dereference collection. The thing is that I only want the collection of Book objects in return and not a collection of pair of Book and Chapter objects in return which I get with the former query. Could someone help me understand?

Can anyone explain this? I suspect it's a syntactical problem due to my Bar class being defined within the Foo class, but can't seem to find a way around it. This is simple public inheritance, so mOtherKey should be accessible from the Bar constructor. Right? Or is it something to do with the fact that mOtherKey is const and I have already initialised it to 0 in the BarBC constructor?

But Gmail App has not release code base. We do not know what Action set to Gmail Activity and what parmeter shall we put the extras. I only know that the Activity of View detial Message is named "HtmlConversationActivity." • Creating an Order Column for encrypted data

  I am saving encrypted data to a database. Is there a way I can create a "hashcode" or fingerprint or checksum of the plain text data, that if I sort / order by on the "hashcode" the order would be the same as if I had saved the plain text data and perform the same sort / order by operation on it? I basically need a SOUNDEX() type function that will give me a value that will maintain the order of the plain text data. I would then save both encrypted data and the "hashcode" and when querying the data order by the "hashcode" field. I need to perform this in the application and preferably not in the SQL DB if at all possible. I am using Entity Framework and SQL 2008 and C# 4.0.

• NHibernateUtil.Initialize and Table where clause (Soft Delete)

  We are using NHibernate but sometimes manually load proxies using the NHibernateUtil.Initialize call. We also employ soft delete and have a "where" condition on all our mapping to tables. SQL generated by NHibernate successfully adds the where condition (i.e. DELETED IS NULL) however we notice that NHibernateUtil.Initialize does not observe the constraints of the mapping files. i.e. None of the SQL generated by NHibernateUtil.Initialize observes our DELETED IS NULL condition. Is there something we're missing as we would really like to employ manual loading of some entity collections when the situation demands it. We are using FluentNhibernate for our mapping.

  I'm writing an application that starts with a loading activity. In the loading activity the app requests html from web and parses the html, then it sends the parsing result to the main activity. The main activity has several tabs, and contents of these tabs are based on the result of parsing. For example, the result of parsing is a list of strings ["apple", "banana", "orange"], and I need to pass this list to main activity, so that the main activity can create three tabs named after three fruits. I would like to know if there is any way to pass a list of strings among activities, BTW, is it the common way of do this? Many thanks.

  I write a RIA application and my JPA beans must be decoded to push it in Store. My decisions are: Brute Force. If I have property 'aProp' in bean (and getter/setter for it) i create RecordDef, then Record, then Recrod.set('aProp', bean.getAProp()) and so on.. (it is terrible) I can write generator for creating a Factory of Records (it is my desision and i write it). For example: RecordFactory<User> factory = GWT.create(User.class); //User is entity I now that i need a reflection, BUT GWT have no implementation of reflection (some libraries emulates this, but they builds on generators) Exists the best way? This could mean that you have incorrectly nested elements -- such as a "style" element in the "body" section instead of inside "head" -- or two elements that overlap (which is not allowed). One common cause for this error is the use of XHTML syntax in HTML documents. Due to HTML's rules of implicitly closed elements, this error can create cascading effects. For instance, using XHTML's "self-closing" tags for "meta" and "link" in the "head" section of a HTML document may cause the parser to infer the end of the "head" section and the beginning of the "body" section (where "link" and "meta" are not allowed; hence the reported error). Now,there are some images in my file system,and I save its absolute path in the db. Like this; id name address image 1 xxxx xxxx C:/images/xxx.jpg Now if the entity is retrived,its image should be displayed in the page. How to make it? What I thought is copy the image under the web server dir,then build its url,then the page can render it. But I wonder if this is a good idea? Is there any other way?

  Since I have given up on using the entity framework 4 as my ORM (getting it to work with MySQL and mapping table/field names like this_table/this_field to object naming like ThisTable/ThisField is POCO) I am now looking at NHibernate as it seems the the next big well know ORM for C# that probably with not die off any time soon. I am trying to lookup some tutorials and a lot of them in the configuration section have 2-2 in it and was wondering if those configuration would work with NHibernate 3? I am just curious if the 2-2 refers to the version of NHibernate or something different.

• vb.net : is it possible to connect to sql server 2008 via odbc but not through vb.net code?

  I'm supporting an old vb.net program whose database it connected to was moved from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008. Is there a setting on SQL Server 2008 which will allow ODBC connections to access the database but not allow VB.NET to connect to it programmatically? the error i keep receiving in the app is: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 – Could not open a connection to SQL Server) however I can connect to it when I create a system dsn to the sql server instance and through VS2005's Tools Connect to Database.
