  My iPhone app has the following problem: Freshly installed, when I read out my "Play Sound" preference with the following code: defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; NSLog(@"Play Sounds? %d", [defaults boolForKey:@"play_sounds_preference"]); The setting always reads out as false, even though the default setting is set to true. Any ideas?   Since I am new to java programming, I need a bit of help with this. I stuck on this one issue and can't continue until I get this to work. I am trying to make a string from that includes a preference int. I saved the data and can display the int (just sample code): SharedPreferences prefs=PreferenceManager .getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); list.setText(prefs.getString("list", "22")); now, I have a xml parser that is pulling a url correctly as a static string: public static String feedUrl = String.format("http://www.freshpointmarketing.com/iphone/objects/XML/AND.php?ID=%d", 22); Works great... now my issue...... • Difference between these two functions that find Palindromes....

  I wrote a function to check whether a word is palindrome or not but "unexpectedly", that function failed quite badly, here it is: bool isPalindrome (const string& s){ string reverse = ""; string original = s; for (string_sz i = 0; i != original.size(); ++i){ reverse += original.back(); original.pop_back(); } if (reverse == original) return true; else return false; } It gives me "string iterator offset out of range error" when you pass in a string with only one character and returns true even if we pass in an empty string (although I know its because of the intialisation of the reverse variable) and also when you pass in an unassigned string for example: string input; isPalindrome(input); Later, I found a better function which works as you would expect: bool found(const string& s) { bool found = true; for (string::const_iterator i = s.begin(), j = s.end() - 1; i < j; ++i, --j) { if (*i != *j) found = false; } return found; } Unlike the first function, this function correctly fails when you give it an unassigned string variable or an empty string and works for single characters and such... So, good people of stackoverflow please point out to me why the first function is so bad... Thank You.

  I wrote some AES encryption code in C# and I am having trouble getting it to encrypt and decrypt properly. If I enter "test" as the passphrase and "This data must be kept secret from everyone!"   I have a WCF Web Service with basicHTTPBinding , the server side the transfer mode is streamedRequest as the client will be sending us large file in the form of memory stream. But on client side when i use transfer mode as streamedRequest its giving me a this errro "The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request" And when i look in to trace information , i see this as the error message Exception: There is a problem with the XML that was received from the network. See inner exception for more details. InnerException: The body of the message cannot be read because it is empty. I am able to send up to 5MB of data using trasfermode as buffered , but it will effect the performance of my web service in the long run , if there are many clients who are trying to access the service in buffered transfer mode. • How to read STDIN into string variable until EOF in C?

  Hi, im getting "Bus Error" trying to read stdin into a char* variable. I just want to read whole stuff coming over stdin and put it first into a variable, then continue working on the variable. My Code is as follows: char* content; char* c; while( scanf( "%c", c)) { strcat( content, c); } fprintf( stdout, "Size: %d", strlen( content)); But somehow i always get "Bus error" returned by calling "cat test.txt | myapp", where "myapp" is the compiled code above. My question is how do i read stdin until EOF into a variable? As you see in the code, i just want to print the size of input coming over stdin, in this case it should be equal to the size of the file "test.txt". I thought just using scanf would be enough, maybe buffered way to read stdin?

  Hi, I'm trying to send an email merging one document (docx) with a contacts database (via OleDB). Using MSWord2007, it seems easy (it works for easy things: name, address, ...) but I can't find how fill an query-get url string with a merge field inside an hyperlink. An hyperlink like: Click here where here is an hyperlink to http://domain.com/[email protected] where [email protected] is the address of the contact, a merge field. I've tried the special/merge fields: {HYPERLINK "http://domain.com/test.php?contact={MERGEFIELD contactEmail}" \o "Here"} but it doesn't work, sometimes it merge only the first record and then send all the mails with the same address, I got this alternating the view with ALT+F9. This support doc doesn't work for me because I don't have the complete URL in my database for each contact, and I can't change the design of the table or add a view (it's from the CRM), I don't like to do it exporting the table and adding the field. • SQL error C# - Parameter already defined

  Hey there. I have a c# application that parses txt files and imports the data from them into a sql db. I was using sqlite and am now working on porting it to sql server. It was working fine with sqlite but now with sql i am getting an error when it is processing the files. It added the first row of data to the db and then says "parameter @PartNumber has already been declared. Variable names must be unique within a batch or stored procedure". Here is my whole code and SQL table layout ... the error comes at the last insertCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() instance at the end of the code...
