Looks like somebody is trying to guess where my admin applications are located. What should I fear in this situation, and what a knowledge of my admin addresses can give to attacker, if everything is password protected?

• Deep Copy using Reflection in an Extension Method for Silverlight?

  So I'm trying to find a generic extension method that creates a deep copy of an object using reflection, that would work in Silverlight. Deep copy using serialization is not so great in Silverlight, since it runs in partial trust and the BinaryFormatter does not exist. I also know that reflection would be faster then serialization for cloning. It would be nice to have a method that works to copy public, private and protected fields, and is recursive so that it can copy objects in objects, and that would also be able to handle collections, arrays, etc. I have searched online, and can only find shallow copy implementations using reflection. I don't understand why, since you can just use MemberwiseClone, so to me, those implementations are useless. Thank You.

• When is it safe to do a Response.Redirect() without throwing an exception?

  I have an intermediary class extending System.Web.UI.Page for all of my pages that require authentication. The class mostly does custom authentication handling. When a user with insufficient access attempts to visit a page, I try to redirect the user back to the login page while preventing any further page events from being executed (ie. Page_load). The first solution that came to mind was the default implementation of Response.Redirect. Of course the downside to this is the possibility of ThreadAbortExceptions being thrown.   Background I'm working on a symmetric rounding class and I find that I'm stuck with regards to how to best find the number at position x that I will be rounding. I'm sure there is an efficient mathematical way to find the single digit and return it without having to resort to string parsing. Problem Suppose, I have the following (C#) psuedo-code: var position = 3; var value = 102.43587m; // I want this no ? (that is 5) protected static int FindNDigit(decimal value, int position) { // This snippet is what I am searching for } Also, it is worth noting that if my value is a whole number, I will need to return a zero for the result of FindNDigit. Does anyone have any hints on how I should approach this problem? Is this something that is blaringly obvious that I'm missing?

• Android use of an string array on another method

  Hi all. Im trying to make an activity that has a multiple choice dialog after you push a button. In there you select from a list of things. But these things are received from a web method before the dialog appears. So I create a string array after I receive them inside the onCreate to initialise it there with the correct size. But my dialog method then cant get the array because propably its out of its scope. My code looks like this @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) //Here is where the array is loaded to the multiple select dialog etc @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) //Here is where i initialise the array and get its contents etc I cant initialise my array when the class starts because I dont know its size yet. • Properly Repaint a Custom Control

  I am doing a custom control, that should be painted like as standard one, but also having a Icon displayed near it. What should I add to manage it properly? In the image we can see that after moving from top to bottom the line(custom control) even is not properly redrawn. I tried to do public override void Invalidate() {     base.Invalidate();     if (Parent != null) {         Parent.Invalidate(new Rectangle( X1, Y1 - iconSize.Width / 2, iconSize.Width, iconSize.Height));     } } but this does not work - when changing location the Invalidate is not even called. If it matter the custom control inherits from VisualBasic.PowerPacks.LineShape component.

• What segments does C compiled program use?

  Hi, I read on OSDev wiki, that protected mode of x86 architecture allow you to create separate segments for code and data, while you cannot write into code section. That Windows (yes, this is the platform) loads new code into code segment, and data are created on data segment. But, if this is the case, how does program know it must switch segments to the data segment? Becouse if I understand it right, all adress instructions point to the segment you run the code from, unless you switch the descriptor. But I also read, that so colled flat memory model allows you to run code and data within one segment. But I read this only in connection to assembler. So, please, what is the case with C compiled code on Windows? Thanks.

• Simplest one-to-many Map case in Hibernate doesn't work in MySQL

In MySQL, there are two problems: First, it insists that there be a table called Members_Preferences, as if this were a many-to-many relationship. Second, it just doesn't work: since it never populates Members_Preferences, it never retrieves the Preferences. [My theory is, since I only use HSQL in memory-mode, it automatically creates Members_Preferences and never really has to retrieve the preferences map. In any case, either Hibernate has a huge bug in it or I'm doing something wrong.]
