    Maybe this is just my unfamiliarity with unicode, so please correct me if I'm mistaken. Looking at http://json.org/, the spec says that a string can include "any UNICODE character", but this confuses me. JSON is a communication format correct? At the core of it, everything must translate down to bytes. In contrast, UNICODE is a logical format and must be encoded to be able to transmit it, right? So what did they mean there?

    I ran into an issue by introducing floating point columns in the MySQL database schema that the comparisons on floating point values don't return the correct results always. 1 - 50.12 2 - 34.57 3 - 12.75 4 - ...(rest all less than 12.00) SELECT COUNT(*) FROM `users` WHERE `points` > "12.75" This returns me "3". I have read that the comparisons of floating point values in MySQL is a bad idea and decimal type is the better option. Do I have any hope of moving ahead with the float type and get the comparisons to work correctly?

    Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me with this as I'm at a loss. I'm trying to simply load a plain text file into a page at runtime using jquery- everything works fine in IE8 (8.0.7600.16385), Firefox 3.6.3, however in Google Chrome 5.0.375.55 the "data" comes back as nothing- i get an empty alert box.     I'm moving a locally developed wordpress site to a client's server so I'm trying to export the local database and import it to the server. I exported the .sql file according to the instructions here http://codex.wordpress.org/Backing_Up_Your_Database but I keep getting this error when importing: DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `wp_commentmeta` ; MySQL said: Documentation #1046 - No database selected Any help very much appreciated.     Hello! I'm developing a Flash-only application and I want to integrate the flowplayer directly into it, but not on the webpage using some swfobject-like approach. So, at some moment (for example, when arbitrary event fires), I would like to add the flowplayer object to the scene so that it starts streaming the specified video. Both A and B are of type HashSet but I think the algorithm could be made more generation (IEnumerable or even ISet)? I could use a solution in either vb.net or C#.

  • Finding changes in MongoDB database

    I'm designing a MongoDB database that works with a script that periodically polls a resource and gets back a response which is stored in the database. Right now my database has one collection with four fields , id, name, timestamp and data. I need to be able to find out which names had changes in the data field between script runs, and which did not. In pseudocode, if(data[name][timestamp]==data[name][timestamp+1]) //data has not changed store data in collection 1 else //data has changed between script runs for this name store data in collection 2 Is there a query that can do this without iterating and running javascript over each item in the collection? There are millions of documents, so this would be pretty slow. Should I create a new collection named timestamp for every time the script runs? Would that make it faster/more organized? Is there a better schema that could be used? The script runs once a day so I won't run into a namespace limitation any time soon.

  • are fixtures loaded when using the sql dump to create a test database

    Because of some non standard table creation options I am forced to use the sql dump instead of the standard schema.rb (i.e. I have uncommented this line in the environment.rb config.active_record.schema_format = :sql). I have noticed that when I use the sql dump that my fixtures do not seem to be loaded into the database. Some data is loaded into it but, I am not sure where it is coming from. Is this normal? and if it is normal can anybody tell me where this other data is coming from?

All is well up till section 6.3: when I try to click "New Post", I get the following error: Internal Server Error (500) Request Method: GET Request URL: http://localhost:8080/500.html access denied (java.io.FilePermission /dev/urandom read) It works fine when I upload the application to Google's App Engine; it's just on my development machine (OS X 10.6) that it doesn't work.   • IE CSS bug: table border showing div with visibility: hidden, position: absolute

    The issue I have a <div> on a page which is initially hidden with a visibility: hidden; position: absolute. The issue is that if a <div> hidden this way contains a table which uses border-collapse: collapse and has a border set on it cells, that border still shows "through" the hidden <div> on IE. Try this for yourself by running the code below on IE6 or IE7. You should get a white page, but instead you will see: Possible workaround Since this is happening on IE and not on other browsers, I assume that this is an IE bug. One workaround is to add the following code which will override the border: .hide table tr td { border: none; } I am wondering: Is this a known IE bug? Is there a more elegant solution/workaround?
