  • How to force myself to follow naming and other conventions

    Hi All, I believe, I program good, atleast my code produces results... But I feel I have drawback... I hardly follow any naming conventions... neither for variables.. nor for methods... nor for classes... nor for tables, columns, SPs... Further to this, I hardly comment anything while programming... I always think that, Let me first see the results and then I will come and correct the var names and other things later... (Thanks to visual studio's reflection here)... But the later does not come... So, I need tips, to force myself to adopt to the practice of following naming conventions, and commenting... Thanks for your time

    Hi, I need a Javascript random number shuffler for my website. Seems simple, but I can not figure out how to do it. Can anyone help me out? I have the following array of numbers: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 I would like to be able to have these numbers shuffled randomly. Like the following: 3 6 4 2 9 5 1 8 7 or 4 1 7 3 5 9 2 6 8 So, specifically, I would like a function that takes in an array of numbers (1 - n) and then returns that same array of numbers - shuffled randomly with different calls to the function. Maybe a noob function, but can't seem to figure it out. Thanks! NOTE: Thanks for the clarification on "Shuffle". Have found a lot more online about this with that term.

  • Drupal, Views: display taxonomies as Views titles.

    hi, I'm using Views for some nodes, and I want to display a different View title according to which taxonomy tags are selected in my filter. I already have taxonomy field for each node in my view. But this is not what I need. I basically need to display all the currently filtered tags on the top of my view. I was wondering if I can solve adding some line with php, how ? Thanks Update: I'm now using the Views Header field in Views settings, but it only processes html code, not php, so I cannot add taxonomy terms. Is it because of my CCK Editor settings ? thanks

    hi all, in a table view i have set a UISearchBar set the delegate and add the protocol. When user tap a word everything is ok exept that the search of "tennis" and "Tennis" is not the same. I wonder how would you approach the opposite problem: splitting coma delimited string into rows of data: Lets say I have tables: userTypedTags(userID,commaSeparatedTags) 'one entry per user tags(tagID,name) And want to insert data into table userTag(userID,tagID) 'multiple entries per user Inspired by Which tags are not in the database? question EDIT Thanks for the answers, actually more then one deserves to be accepted but I can only pick one, and the solution presented by Cade Roux with recursions seems pretty clean to me. It works on SQL Server 2005 and above. For earlier version of SQL Server the solution provided by miies can be used. For working with text data type wcm answer will be helpful. Thanks again.

  • VS 2010 Server Explorer Database Showing No Tables

    I'm working on a .Net application that needs to read from an Oracle 10g database behind Siebel. In VS 2010 Server Explorer, I've created a connection using the OracleClient type connector with a reference to the Oracle TNS service name as the "server name." The "Test Connection" button shows that the connection is successful. However, in the Server Explorer, when I go to expand the Tables, no tables are shown. I know for a fact that there are 3000+ tables in the database (thanks Siebel). Anyone know what's happening here? I'd like to create an Entity Framework 4.0 Entity Data Model... Thanks for the help!     I've decided, for educational purposes, I want to learn a new language every 2 years or so. Which language should I learn first? Why? I'm proficient with C, C# and Java. Other than that, I really haven't done much with any other languages. Thanks! Edit: Thanks to all of those that recommended functional languages. Making the mental switch to a functional language seems hard. How did you overcome your instinct to keep doing things in a procedural manner?
