  • Run GTK+ application in client browser

    - by mgray
Hi, I've been searching for ways to run a GTK+ application on a browser. WebKit and its associated GTK+ port seem to do the opposite - making applications more Web-friendly, but the opposite would also be nice. There seems to have been some activity to realize that for XCode, with Cappuccino and Atlas, that can translate NIB files into CIB files. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks! mike

  • How does Software/Code actually communicate with Harware?

    - by AbyJames
My question is: When I press the "Shut down" button in Windows/Linux,the computer shutdowns. How did the command "Shut down" actually make the computer Physically shutdown? To make my point clear: When we kick a ball, there is physical contact between the ball and our leg,for the ball to move.So how is the physical connection achieved between softwares and hardwares? How does plain text of codes make the computer do what it does? (Noob question,I know but it has been irritating me for quite sometime now) -Aby

  • Problem creating a webpage in OOP pattern?

    - by Starx
I want to develop a website in OOP pattern, but I am stuck in a point whether I need to inherit from multiple classes. For example I have a main class "index" this class has several methods which need to inherited from other classes and I have created seperate classes for it like class "banner", class "content", class "footer" Not only this but class "content" has several methods to be inherited from other classes like class "gallery", class "news", etc I found out that multiple inheritance is not allowed, and using interface I cannot write codes in its methods, so how can i achieve a solution for this problem.

  • How to dock an application in the Windows desktop?

    - by Sacha
I would like to develop a small notifications application for Windows in .NET that docks on the right/left side of the screen (not consuming more than 300px), should always be visible and force the rest of windows to not overlap this application (something like the old Office taskbar or Vista's Sidebar). I have no idea where to start. Can it be done using XAML/WPF? Since I haven't even started coding any option is valid at this point. Thanks!

    - by Himadri
I have some points in 3D but all points are in single plane. It can be any plane. Now I wanted to know the interior angle between any three consecutive points. How can I do so? For example, I have three points (1,0,0),(0,0,0) and (-1,1,0) then I want the answer as 135 degree. But If I have the third point is (-1,-1,0) then the answer should be 225 degree.

  • Getting the System tick count with basic C++?

    - by Donal Rafferty
I essentially want to reconstruct the getTickCount() windows function so I can use it in basic C++ without any non standard libraries or even the STL. (So it complies with the libraries supplied with the Android NDK) I have looked at clock() localtime time But I'm still unsure whether it is possible to replicate the getTickCount windows function with the time library. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to do this or even if its possible?

  • NSTextField enter to trigger action

    - by Chris
I've been looking all over for a simple example of how to have an action (or button) be triggered when the enter key is hit in the text field. Should I subclass the text field? Would I need to set a delegate to call the action I need? Is there a way to catch the event in my main window controller class? If you could even just point me to the right direction that would be great. Thanks.

    - by see-sharp
I am still a beginner programmer, though I know some basics of C#. I want to be a professional programmer. What tutorials can I use to learn C# from this point-of-view? I am in no hurry; I just want to be perfect. I am dedicated in terms of time and hard-work. I searched Google, but I'm not finding impressive beginner resources.

  • replacing a path with sed

    - by compie
    How can I use sed to replace this line char * path_list_[1] = { "/some/random/path" }; with this line char * path_list_[2] = { "lib/foo", "lib/bar" }; in a file named source.c Notes: * The path is really random. * Your solution should only change this line in source.c * I'm only interested in a sed oneliner. You can use this Python regex as a starting point: text = re.sub('static const char \* path_list_\[1\] = \{ "[^"]*" \};', 'static const char * path_list_[2] = { "lib/sun", "lib/matlab" };', text)

  • Is it possible to bulk load an NDB child Entity in GAE?

    - by hmacread
At some point in the future I may need to bulk load migration data (i.e. from a CSV). Has anyone had exceptions raised doing the following? Also is there any change in behaviour if the ndb.put_multi() function is used? from google.appengine.ext import ndb while True: if not id: break id, name = read_csv_row(readline()) x = X(parent=ndb.Key('Y','static_id') x.id, x.name = id, name x.put() class X(ndb.Model): id = StringProperty() name = StringProperty() class Y(ndb.Model): pass def read_csv_row(line): """returns tuple"""

  • What is the future of C++?

    - by George Edison
Given the rise in popularity of C# and others, (which you can point out in the comments) what future does C++ have? Consider that most OS code is a mix of Asm/C/C++ and a lot of FOSS still use it. Also consider the upcoming C++0x standard that brings a few changes to the mix.

  • How to debug iPhone project crash when there is no error message

    - by teepusink
Hi, I am doing this iPhone app that works fine on the simulator. However, when I run it on a device in debug mode, it just crash without any error messages. How can I debug that? I heard about a flag we can set to help with this kind of situation but not sure what that flag is and how to set it. If I'm not mistaken I think what that flag does is put a break point automatically prior to crash. Thanks, Tee

  • Controller name convention in ASP.NET MVC

    - by jesusbolivar
Is there a way to change the naming convention for controllers in ASP.NET MVC? What I want is to name my controllers InicioControlador instead of InicioController, or better yet, use a prefix instead of a suffix, and have ControladorInicio as my controller name. From what I have read so far, I think I have to implement my own Controller Factory. I would be very grateful if any of you could point me in the right direction.

  • Hadoop write directory

    - by FaultyJuggler
Simple question but reading through documentation and configuration I can't quite seem to figure it out. How do I A) know where hadoop is writing to on the local disk and B) change that For initial testing I setup HDFS on a 20gb linux VM - to it we've added a 500gb networked drive for moving towards prototyping the full system. So now how do I point HDFS at that drive, or do I simply move the home directory/install with some slight change in setup and restart the process?

  • How can I configure apigee to fail stale if the backend is unavialble?

    - by Anurag Kapur
We have an API proxy configured with cache ttl of 2mins. Is it possible to configure apigee to serve stale cached content if the backend goes down so that our end users don't see errors? We would rather have our end users get copies of stale cached content (even after the configured ttl of 2mins expires) instead of errors when the backend goes down. Would appreciate if someone could point me to the relevant documentation if this is possible.
