• .Net LoginControls - User can't logout in Firefox

  Basically, the logout link doesn't do anything, but only in Firefox. (I can login and out freely from other browsers) There really isn't a whole lot of information I can really give other than that, since I'm still new to this project and .net as a whole, and know almost nothing about the login controls. So if someone else has experienced a similar issue in the past, and can recognize the issue with the little info I have, that would be great! If not, sorry for the lack of depth, but its all I have. • Hooking a synchronous event handler on a form submit button in JS

  Hi, I'm working on a security project in javascript (something I honestly have not used), and I'm having some trouble with EventListeners. My code looks something like this: function prevclick(evt) { evt.preventDefault(); document.loginform.submitbtn.removeEventListener('click',prevclick,false); var req = new XMLHttpRequest(); req.open("GET","testlog.php?submission=complete",false); req.send(); document.loginform.submitbtn.click(); //tried this and loginform.submit() } document.loginform.submitbtn.addEventListener('click',prevclick,false); But the problem is, the submit button doesn't submit the form on the first click (it does, however, send the http request on the first click), and on the second click of the submit button, it works as normal. I think there is a problem with the synchronization, but I do need to have the request processed before forwarding the user to the next page. Any ideas on this would be great. Thanks in advance.

  Hi ! I love doctests, it is the only testing framwork I use, because it is so quick to write, and because used with sphinx it makes such great documentations with almost no effort... However, very often, I end-up doing things like this : """ Descriptions ============= bla bla bla ... >>> test 1 bla bla bla + tests tests tests * 200 lines = poor readability of the actual code """ What I mean is that I put all my tests with documentation explanations on the top of the module, so you have to scroll stupidly to find the actual code, and this is quite ugly (in my opinion). However, I think that the doctests should still stay in the module, because you should be able to read them while reading the source code. So here comes my question : sphinx/doctests lovers, how do you organize your doctests, such as the code readability doesn't suffer ?

  Hello, I wanted to be able to create a effect identical to CSS3 text-shadow Property, making it available to browsers that doesn’t support this CSS3 Property (like IE 7 and 8). And so I found two plugins: Text Shadow and Drop Shadow Effect. I decided to use Text Shadow, because it was released in the end of 2008, and because it was more straightforward. This worked great for IE8. However in IE7 shadows have twice the distance to the text, and links are weird. IE8 image IE7 image I am searching for a fix, or an alternative to this problem.

• Entry points on different urls possible?

  Hi, I've got a typical gwt project, but am using some url rewriting techniques such that urls entered like: www.mysite.com/johndoe www.mysite.com/janedoe all get served by my main entrypoint project.jsp file. This works great when deployed. When I'm running in hosted mode, it's a total bummer because changing the url in the browser breaks the link with the hosted-mode debugging, such that when I make changes to the source in eclipse and refresh, those changes are not immediately shown. I need to recompile the app and relaunch, and we all know how long that takes. Is there any way to somehow get the hosted-mode environment to recognize that the same webapp is being served on these different urls, and just reconnect the debugging connection? We basically get: http://localhost:8888/myproject.jsp?gwt.codesvr=192.168.1.2:9997 when launching hosted mode, I'd like: http://localhost:8888/johndoe to just reconnect to the debugger, if possible. • Ideas for Quick Hierarchical Listing - .NET

  I have a table in SQL Server listing corporate departments and their sections and subsections (3 levels). I would like to create some web-based listing of this, but similar to a TreeList. I was thinking to set up nested Ajax Accordions, but it was taking me way too long to put together. I would even settle for a GridView with non-repeating column values. Is there a way I can implement my idea without it taking me more than an hour or so for a newbie to complete? Any controls in ASP.NET or Ajax I can bind to would be great.

  Hi, hope someone can help me on learning some new stuff about delegates in iOS-programming. I have a "MainViewController" which is the first VC when the app starts. I´ve a kind of modelselection with different UIImageViews and after choosing one of them, i´m pushing a new VC. I want to handle the modelChoice with a delegate, so all other viewControllers can listen to that and act based on the users choice. But does that mean that i have to alloc a new instance of that "MainViewController" in every VC? Whats the solution on that? How do i create (i think its called) static delegate? • Get variable name as string in Perl

  Hi, I am trying to get a text representation of a variable's name. For instance, this would be the function I am looking for: $abc = '123'; $var_name = &get_var_name($abc); #returns '$abc' I want this because I am trying to write a debug function that recursively outputs the contents of a passed variable, I want it to output the variable's name before hand so if I call this debug function 100 times in succession there will be no confusion as to which variable I am looking at in the output. I have heard of Data::Dumper and am not a fan. If someone can tell me how to if it's possible get a string of a variable's name, that would be great. Thanks!

• Choosing a Reporting Services parameter value based on the currently logged in user

  Here's my situation. I have a Microsoft Reporting Services report that as a parameter takes a salesperson's name and shows them their sales across their territories blah blah blah. But, salesperson A should not be able to choose and view salesperson B's data. So, my thought was to get the currently logged in user from Reporting Services, and then use that to populate the "salesperson" parameter. Is there a way to get the currently logged in user through some hidden RS interface, or is there some other way of accomplishing my goal that I'm just not seeing? Any help would be GREAT, as the higher ups aren't too happen with my (apparent) lack of security right now.

But these functions can only check if one point is inside a poly. I have a query where the PiP part should only be one part of the query and check for x points inside a polygon.   I need to perform long-running operation in ruby/rails asynchronously. Googling around one of the options I find is Sidekiq. class WeeklyReportWorker include Sidekiq::Worker def perform(user, product, year = Time.now.year, week = Date.today.cweek) report = WeeklyReport.build(user, product, year, week) report.save end end # call WeeklyReportWorker.perform_async('user', 'product') Everything works great! But there is a problem. If I keep calling this async method every few seconds, but the actual time heavy operation performs is one minute things won't work. Let me put it in example. 5.times { WeeklyReportWorker.perform_async('user', 'product') } Now my heavy operation will be performed 5 times. Optimally it should have performed only once or twice depending on whether execution of first operaton started before 5th async call was made. Do you have tips how to solve it?

• Find by include nil object error in rails

  I've been trying hard to solve this problem but i really don't know what is happening. I have this small piece of code : DiscoveredLocation.find_by_user_id(user.id, :include => [:boss_kills]) The models are : DiscoveredLocation(id, user_id, boss_location_id) BossKill(user_id, monster_id) and associations : Monster belongs_to :boss_location Monster has_many :boss_kills BossKill belongs_to :user BossKill belongs_to :monster DiscoveredLocation belongs_to :user DiscoveredLocation belongs_to :boss_location DiscoveredLocation has_many :monsters, :through => :boss_location DiscoveredLocation has_many :boss_kills, :through => :monsters When i executed the find_by i get this error : NoMethodError in BossesController#index You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of Array. The error occurred while evaluating nil.each If i change the include option to any other model, like :monster, it works great. I'm pretty much owned by this problem :P. Maybe somebody can help me ? :)

• bash find xargs grep only single occurence

  hi. maybe it's a bit strange - and maybe there are other tools to do this but, well.. i am using the following classic bash command to find all files which contain some string: find . -type f | xargs grep "something" i have a great number of files, on multiple depths. first occurence of "something" is enough for me, but find continues searching, and takes a long time to complete the rest of the files. what i would like to do is something like a "feedback" from grep back to find so that find could stop searching for more files. is such a thing possible? thank you

  Hi All, I installed Visual Studio 2008 Professional in my machine and It had installed SQL Server Express 2005 database in machine, and I use it very fine! I installed SQL Managment Studio and works great. So, in this week I Installed Visual Studio 2010 Pro in machine and the setup installed the SQL Server express 2008 and it overwrite the instance of my SQL Server Express 2005. All right, Now, I'd like to know how can I have two instances of the SQL Server Express in my Machine, Express 2005 and Express 2008. I can not access the 2005 , only 2008 :( and my projects uses 2005.. Somebody Help me! thanks Bye

• Wordpress htaccess in root overriding htaccess in subdomain. Subdomain app not working now.

  Hello, We have a WP install in the root of our server and its running great.. but, we just installed another app in a subdomain. Now, I can view the index.php of that app but cannot do anything with it.. the htaccess rules in the root (from WP base install) are effecting the requests. So, how to I eliminate the WP htaccess file from effecting the subdomain? • String Encoding doesn't ouput all characters

  My client uses InputStreamReader/BufferedReader to fetch text from the Internet. However when I save the Text to a *.txt the text shows extra weird special symbols like 'Â'. I've tried Convert the String to ASCII but that mess upp å,ä,ö,Ø which I use. I've tried food = food.replace("Â", ""); and IndexOf(); But string won't find it. But it's there in HEX Editor. So summary: When I use text.setText(Android), the output looks fine with NO weird symbols, but when I save the text to *.txt I get about 4 of 'Â'. I do not want ASCII because I use other Non-ASCII character. The 'Â' is displayed as a Whitespace on my Android and in notepad. Thanks! Have A great Weekend! EDIT* found:   in Wordpad

• How to find thousands of company names?

  How can I find or generate thousands of company names for testing and demo purposes? (Address, phone number, and related information would be nice too.) I've got a system I'm building which includes business contact information. Pretty common no doubt. My test/demo database currently has randomly generated individual's names loaded (thanks to a handy IRS spreadsheet I found). This has worked great for internal testing and review purposes, but it looks really odd when shown to prospective customers. I've tried various online public information sources (e.g. EDGAR, and county based property records searches), but these all require me to manually stitch together the results in blocks of 50 names or so at a time. I could do this, but was really hoping for a search service or data store out there that had this type of information readily searchable and retrievable in very large batches.

• TinyMCE refresh issue

  I'm using TinyMCE, witch is working fine for the most part... when the user saves the page redirects to a a php page that extracts the textfield data and processes it, i wont elaborate cause that's no t the issue... the issue is that when it redirects back to the page... the textfield is blank and i can click on it but not see anything, if i type it enters(but i can't see it), this also happens when i go to the address directly, the only way i can see it is to hit the refresh button... i tried a meta refresh to the page... i tried disabling cache... any ideas would be great... thanks in advance

• Cascading Dropdown Listboxes with Selenium

  I am having great difficultly testing cascading dropdown boxes with Selenium. I would like to know what the standard approach is for this. I'm a bit unclear as to which commands to use i.e. ClickAndWait, WaitForTextPresent etc. It seems a little bit of a hack to try and get this to work. Has anyone got selenium to correctly test this out? An example scenario would be to have 3 listboxes which have Car Make, Model and Colour. Each one is populated in turn by the other. Selenium needs to somehow wait for the next listbox to populate before preceeding with the test.

• Searching pgadmin db and grabbing information?

  I'm currently trying to write a script in RoR to go into my PGAdmin database and look at a list of users, THEN ignore users that have an image path but look at users who don't have one and then upload a link of a generic photo into their row. My database looks Something like this: id integer | name | email | image path | 12 Bob [email protected] www.faces.org 81 Sally [email protected] 114 Mark [email protected] www.faces.org How would I start grabbing those users, I only have 103 users right now, but I also need to think about scaling for the future. Here is a starting point. I know this is kind of vague but really all I need is just a starting point. to get into it. • Node.JS Server Cuts Off Frequently?

  I have a Node JS Server where I am using Socket.IO to stream content to the browser. It works great for about 45 minutes or so of streaming, then it will usually cut out. There are no "errors" reported in the terminal and the Node server acts like it is in, however the page I am serving clearly stops working. What are my options for trying to get to the bottom of this? Could this be a configuration issue with Node/Socket.IO? is there any basic error logging you would recommend I setup?

• iOS iPad Master Detail template can't interact with detail view

  I have an iPad app generated from the Master-Detail template in XCode. The iPad Storyboard has under the Detail View Controller a View that holds a ScrollView which holds an ImageView. In the DetailViewController.m file I added the following code to allow the ScrollView to move and zoom the image: -(UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { return self.comicImage; } This works great on the iPhone (it's a universal app) but not the iPad; I can scroll and zoom the image on the iPhone no problem, but on the iPad it's like the ScrollView isn't responding to the touches, and I can't figure out how to pass the touches on to the ScrollView. I've already deactivated the popover controller from appearing with a right swipe like this: self.splitViewController.presentsWithGesture = NO; How do I make it so the user can interact with the ScrollView in the DetailViewController?

• Error Exception 2048 on my website using OpenClassifieds software

  I have a website called e-waitress.net, it is a jobs employment website for the restaurant industry. I installed an open source program called OpenClassifieds and a couple days after installing the OpenClassifieds, I get an error message when I enter my url that is this: ErrorException [ 2048 ]: date_default_timezone_get(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are required to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/New_York' for 'EDT/-4.0/DST' instead ~ APPPATH/ko322/classes/kohana/date.php [ 592 ] I am wondering is this a server issue with my host provider or is it within the OpenClassifieds installation software? I've reinstalled the software twice and it's returned this error after a couple days of working great. Any ideas?

• CAD/CAM without C++

  Hello, Is it possible to do CAD/CAM software without having to use C++? My company developed their software with c/C++ but that was more than 10 years ago. Today,there is a lot of legacy code that switching would force us to get rid of but i was wondering what the actual risks are. We have a lot of mathematical algorithms for toolpath calculations, feature recognition and simulation and 3D Rendering and i was wondering if C# can handles all of that without great performance loss. Is it a utopia to rewrite such algorithms in c# or should that language only deal with UI. We are not talking about game development here (Halo 3 or Call Of Duty) so how much processing does CAD/CAM really need? Can anybody enlighten me on this matter? Most of my colleagues are hardcore C++ programmers and although i program in c++ i love .NET but i am having a hard time selling .NET to them other than basic UI. Does it make sense to consider switching to .NET in such a field, or is it just not a wise idea? Thank you

• How to buffer stdout in memory and write it from a dedicated thread

  I have a C application with many worker threads. It is essential that these do not block so where the worker threads need to write to a file on disk, I have them write to a circular buffer in memory, and then have a dedicated thread for writing that buffer to disk. The worker threads do not block any more. The dedicated thread can safely block while writing to disk without affecting the worker threads (it does not hold a lock while writing to disk). My memory buffer is tuned to be sufficiently large that the writer thread can keep up. This all works great. My question is, how do I implement something similar for stdout? I could macro printf() to write into a memory buffer, but I don't have control over all the code that might write to stdout (some of it is in third-party libraries). Thoughts? NickB
