  • Get All Users in an Active Directory Group

    - by Matt Hanson
    I'm using the following code sample to get a list of all users in a specified AD group (in this case, all users in the "Domain Users" group). My listed code works great, with one exception: it won't return users who have their primary group set to "Domain Users". How can I get a list of all users in the group, including those who have it set as their primary group? Private Sub GetUsers() Dim groupSearcher As New DirectorySearcher Dim groupSearchRoot As New DirectoryEntry("LDAP://OU=Users,DC=domain,DC=com") With groupSearcher .SearchRoot = groupSearchRoot .Filter = "(&(ObjectClass=Group)(CN=Domain Users))" End With Dim members As Object members = groupSearcher.FindOne.GetDirectoryEntry.Invoke("Members", Nothing) For Each member As Object In CType(members, IEnumerable) Console.WriteLine(New DirectoryEntry(member).Name.Remove(0, 3)) Next End Sub

  • div automatically added in $item->get_description(); using simplepie

    - by Carey Estes
    I am getting a div that is appearing in the output from calling a RSS feed. It is ignoring my attempts to wrap it in a paragraph tag and pushes the data out to the div. foreach ($feed->get_items(0 , 3) as $item): $feedDescription = $item->get_content(); $image = returnImage($feedDescription); $image = scrapeImage($image); $image_url= $item->get_permalink(); $description = $item->get_description(); ?> <div class="item"> <h4><a href="<?php echo $item->get_permalink(); ?>"><?php echo $item->get_title(); ?></a></h4> <div class="image-box"><?php echo '<a href="' . $image_url . '"><img src="' . $image . '" /></a>'."\n";?></div> <p><?php echo $description ?></p> <p><a href="<?php echo $item->get_permalink(); ?>">Continue Reading</a></p> </div> <?php endforeach; ?> Here is the html output: <div class="item"> <h4><a href="#">Lorem Ipsum</a></h4> <div class="image-box"><a href="#"><img src="image.jpg"></a> </div> <p></p> <div>Lorem Ipsum description [...]</div> <p></p> <p><a href="#">Continue Reading</a></p> </div> Why does the description call add a div tag and not get wrapped in the paragraph tag?

  • Displaying build times in Visual Studio?

    - by Roger Lipscombe
    Our build server is taking too long to build one of our C++ projects. It uses Visual Studio 2008. Is there any way to get devenv.com to log the time taken to build each project in the solution, so that I know where to focus my efforts? Improved hardware is not an option in this case. I've tried setting the output verbosity (under Tools / Options / Projects and Solutions / Build and Run / MSBuild project build output verbosity). This doesn't seem to have any effect in the IDE. When running MSBuild from the command line (and, for Visual Studio 2008, it needs to be MSBuild v3.5), it displays the total time elapsed at the end, but not in the IDE. I really wanted a time-taken report for each project in the solution, so that I could figure out where the build process was taking its time. Alternatively, since we actually use NAnt to drive the build process (we use Jetbrains TeamCity), is there a way to get NAnt to tell me the time taken for each step?

  • SharePoint Permissions: User with Contribute change cannot change a list item they did not create?

    - by antik
    I've build a custom SharePoint list that programatically adjusts permissions per list item. This part of the app works by clearing all permissions in the list item and adding permissions to the folks I want to grant Read or Contribute permission to. I believe this part of the application to be correct: selecting Manage Permissions on a list item I can see the appropriate users and roles for the list items in question in the Permissions list. However, I was surprised to realize that only the user who submitted a list item can successfully edit the item. I'll describe what I'm seeing with the following two users: UserA and UserB. UserA submitted the list item. UserB is trying to edit the same list item after the permissions have been assigned (either manually or programatically). UserB cannot edit the list item: UserB can see the Edit Item link on the item toolbar. UserB can click the link and will see EditForm.aspx. When UserB makes changes and presses submit, UserB encounters the out of box SharePoint "Access Denied" error page. The event handler for the list item update does not fire. Manually elevating UserB's permission to include Full Control does not affect the behavior above. By contrast, UserA encounters far more predictable behavior: UserA can see the Edit Item link on the item toolbar. UserA can click the link and will see EditForm.aspx. When UserA submits, the changes are persisted and the user is redirected back to the item list. Event Handlers fire after UserA submits. This leaves me with several questions: Is this an expected behavior for SharePoint that I managed to overlook? What can I do to allow UserB to modify the list item?

  • How to use the Visual Studio 2012 command line tool from system()

    - by Janice Regan
    I am attempting to compile and run one visual C++ program (project1) from another visual C++ program (project2) using msbuild and other commands available in the Visual studio command line tool but not in the windows command line tool. Everything works fine if I run it in the visual studio command line tool. For example I can build using msbuild and it works just as I want it to. When I try to run the same command in my C++ program using system(), the system call appears to use the Windows command line and therefore cannot find any of the commands (msbuild in this example). I am new to working with system() on windows (although I have extensive experience with it using Linux). Is there some way to make my C++ program use the Visual Studio command line environment when I call system (rather than Windows command line environment)? Using the command window manually is not an option. I need to compile and test a series of 200-300 different versions of the program in the project1. This is why I am writing program2

  • MySQL - Counting rows in preparation for greatest-n-per-group not working?

    - by John M
    Referring to SO and other sites have given me examples of how to use MySQL to create a 'greatest-n-per-group' query. My variant on this would be to have a query that returns the first 3 rows of each category. As the basis for this I need to sort my data into a usable sequence and that is where my problems start. Running just the sequence query with row numbering shows that changes in category are mostly ignored. I should have 35 categories returning rows but only 5 do so. My query: set @c:=0; set @a:=0; SELECT IF(@c = tdg, @a:=@a+1, @a:=1) AS rownum, (@c:=tdg) , julian_day, sequence, complete, year, tdg FROM tsd WHERE complete = 0 order by tdg, year, julian_day, sequence Do I have a syntax mistake with this query?

  • Getting the last member of a group on an intermediary M2M

    - by rh0dium
    If we look at the existing docs, what is the best way to get the last member added? This is similar to this but what I want to do is to be able to do this. group = Group.objects.get(id=1) group.get_last_member_added() #This is by ('-date_added') <Person: FOO> I think the best way is through a manager but how do you do this on an intermediary model? class Person(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) def __unicode__(self): return self.name class Group(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) members = models.ManyToManyField(Person, through='Membership') def __unicode__(self): return self.name class Membership(models.Model): person = models.ForeignKey(Person) group = models.ForeignKey(Group) date_joined = models.DateField() invite_reason = models.CharField(max_length=64)

  • Possible to reverse order of ItemGroup elements?

    In MSBuild 3.5, is it possible to reverse the order elements in an ItemGroup? Example I have 2 projects. One can be built independently the other is dependent on the first. Each project references its specific items in a .targets file. project_A.targets <Project xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> <ItemGroup> <AssembliesToRemove Include="@(AssembliesToRemove)" /> <AssembliesToRemove Include="Assembly_A.dll"> <ApplicationName>App_A</ApplicationName> </AssembliesToRemove> </ItemGroup> <ItemGroup> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="@(AssembliesToDeploy)" /> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="Assembly_A.dll"> <AssemblyType>SomeType</AssemblyType> <ApplicationName>App_A</ApplicationName> </AssembliesToDeploy> </ItemGroup> </Project> project_B.targets <Project xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> <ItemGroup> <AssembliesToRemove Include="@(AssembliesToRemove)" /> <AssembliesToRemove Include="Assembly_B.dll"> <ApplicationName>App_B</ApplicationName> </AssembliesToRemove> </ItemGroup> <ItemGroup> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="@(AssembliesToDeploy)" /> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="Assembly_B.dll"> <AssemblyType>SomeType</AssemblyType> <ApplicationName>App_B</ApplicationName> </AssembliesToDeploy> </ItemGroup> </Project> project_A.proj <Project DefaultTargets="Start" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> <Import Project="project_A.targets" /> <Import Project="Common.targets" /> </Project> project_B.proj <Project DefaultTargets="Start" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> <Import Project="project_A.targets" /> <Import Project="project_B.targets" /> <Import Project="Common.targets" /> </Project> The Problem In this scenario the problem arises during the Task processing @(AssembliesToDeploy) because Assembly_B.dll needs to be deployed before Assembly_A.dll. What I tried to do I tried to influence the order of @(AssembliesToDeploy) by modifying project_B.targets like this: <ItemGroup> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="Assembly_B.dll"> <AssemblyType>SomeType</AssemblyType> <ApplicationName>App_B</ApplicationName> </AssembliesToDeploy> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="@(AssembliesToDeploy)" /> </ItemGroup> but when using project_B.targets inside project_B.proj the order inside @(AssembliesToDeploy) still remained Assembly_A.dll;Assembly_B.dll. Is there a solution which would allow to reuse my .targets i.e not copying all ItemGroup elements to all .targets files?

  • Sep 10 Week - I'll be on the West Coast Speaking in Irvine and San Fran

    - by RickHeiges
    In my role as a Solutions Architect for Scalability Experts, I often get to present to customers about the work that we performed. Unfortunately, this is often on short notice and I can't coordinate a trip to participate in a User Group Meeting. Next week, I was able to coordinate my west coast trip to be able to present. I am heading to Irvine at the MTC on Sepember 11 and San Francisco at the MSFT offices on Sep 13 to speak to customers who want to learn more about SQL Server 2012.To register for...(read more)

  • SQL Rally Relational Database Design Pre-Con Preview

    - by drsql
    On May 9, 2012, I will be presenting a pre-con session at the SQL Rally in Dallas, TX on relational database design. The fact is, database design is a topic that demands more than a simple one hour session to really do it right. So in my Relational Database Design Workshop, we will have seven times the amount of time in the typical session, giving us time to cover our topics in a bit more detail, look at a lot more designs/code, and even get some time to do some design as a group. Our topics will...(read more)

  • Adding Table Columns to a Group by clause - Ruby on Rails - Postgresql

    - by bgadoci
    I am trying to use Heroku and apparently Postgresql is a lot more strict than SQL for aggregate functions. When I am pushing to Heroku I am getting an error stating the below. On another question I asked I received some guidance that said I should just add the columns to my group by clause and I am not sure how to do that. See the full error below and the PostsControll#index. SELECT posts.*, count(*) as vote_total FROM "posts" INNER JOIN "votes" ON votes.post_id = posts.id GROUP BY votes.post_id ORDER BY created_at DESC LIMIT 5 OFFSET 0): PostsController def index @tag_counts = Tag.count(:group => :tag_name, :order => 'count_all DESC', :limit => 20) conditions, joins = {}, :votes @ugtag_counts = Ugtag.count(:group => :ugctag_name, :order => 'count_all DESC', :limit => 20) conditions, joins = {}, :votes @vote_counts = Vote.count(:group => :post_title, :order => 'count_all DESC', :limit => 20) conditions, joins = {}, :votes unless(params[:tag_name] || "").empty? conditions = ["tags.tag_name = ? ", params[:tag_name]] joins = [:tags, :votes] end @posts=Post.paginate( :select => "posts.*, count(*) as vote_total", :joins => joins, :conditions=> conditions, :group => "votes.post_id", :order => "created_at DESC", :page => params[:page], :per_page => 5) @popular_posts=Post.paginate( :select => "posts.*, count(*) as vote_total", :joins => joins, :conditions=> conditions, :group => "votes.post_id", :order => "vote_total DESC", :page => params[:page], :per_page => 3) respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @posts } format.json { render :json => @posts } format.atom end end

  • IList<Item> Collection Class accessing database

    - by Mike
    Hi, I have a database with Users. Users have Items. These Items can change actively. How do you access the items in a collection type format? For the user, I fill all the user properties at the time of instantiation. If I load the user's items at the time of the instantiation, and the items change, they will have old data. I was thinking, maybe I need an ItemCollection class and have that a field/property apart of the user class, that way to traverse all the user's items I could use a foreach loop. So, my question is, what is the best practice/best way of accessing the items from a database using some sort of collection? On accessing the particular Item, it needs to get the latest database information, and when the user does do a foreach loop, the latest item information must be available. I.e. What I'm trying to do Console.WriteLine(User.Items[3].ID); returns 5. //this updates the item information and saves it to the database. User.Items[3].ID = 13; //Add a new item to the database. User.Items.Add(new Item { id = 17}); foreach (Item item in User.Items) { //this would traverse all items in the database. //not some cached copy at the time of instantiation of the user. }

  • Group / User based security. Table / SQL question

    - by Brett
    Hi, I'm setting up a group / user based security system. I have 4 tables as follows: user groups group_user_mappings acl where acl is the mapping between an item_id and either a group or a user. The way I've done the acl table, I have 3 columns of note (actually 4th one as an auto-id, but that is irrelevant) col 1 item_id (item to access) col 3 user_id (user that is allowed to access) col 3 group_id (group that is allowed to access) So for example item1, peter, , item2, , group1 item3, jane, , so either the acl will give access to a user or a group. Any one line in the ACL table with either have an item - user mapping, or an item group. If I want to have a query that returns all objects a user has access to, I think I need to have a SQL query with a UNION, because I need 2 separate queries that join like.. item - acl - group - user AND item - acl - user This I guess will work OK. Is this how its normally done? Am I doing this the right way? Seems a little messy. I was thinking I could get around it by creating a single user group for each person, so I only ever deal with groups in my SQL, but this seems a little messy as well..
