• Leveraging Microsoft Patterns and Practices

• Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) 11gR1 (11.1.1.7) now supports ADF Faces Tags

  So the recent release of OEPE 11.1.1.7 has the ADF community buzzing.   In addition to reading the product manager's blog entry on the new release... http://blogs.oracle.com/gstachni/2011/02/oracle_enterprise_pack_for_ecl_3.html ...it's important to realize what this support entails now and in the future.    This first step, of supporting ADF Faces tags, is not prelude to *complete* ADF support in OEPE.  Rather, the aim of the Eclipse support is to provide tools for the MVC (Model-View-Controller) parts of the ADF runtime stack.   This means that we plan to support ADFm and ADFc as well in the future, but not the entire ADF stack (ADF BC, etc).    Hope this gives people an idea of what to expect, and we look forward to your feedback in the forums!   One of my numerous little side projects has recently been ObjectStorageHelper, a library that makes it easy to read/write files in WinRT (aka Windows 8) applications. This is a short post to let you know that ObjectStorageHelper is now available in the nuget gallery and hence can easily be added to your WinRT applications by running the following command in the nuget Package Manager Console: Massive thanks to Scott Lovegrove (@scottisafool) for helping me with this making this happen. • Can't boot into ubuntu, black screen after grub menu

  Ubuntu is not booting properly for me anymore. The grub menu comes up, and whether I choose a linux recovery mode or the normal one I get a black screen after a few seconds. There is a brief message about vga=791 being deprecated, but I am not able to read it fully because the black screen covers it up almost immediately. I have googled for hours for solutions, and most people seem able to solve similar problems by editing in grub and adding nomodeset into the line starting with linux /boot... but this solution is not working for me, I still don't get any GUI. Sometimes I am able to get the dmesg rolling past, I think it was when I removed quiet splash from that line, but still no GUI - the computer seems to be on and working because it responds to a ctrl-alt-del and reboots. I have tried with 3 different graphics cards (2 nVidia and 1 ATI) and swapping them doesn't seem to change the behaviour at all. What else can I try?

• I can not connect to the Internet with cable

  tengo un computador de escritorio (board: gigabyte h61m, procesador: intel core i3 de 64 bits, ram: ddr3 4 GB) y puedo acceder a internet normalmente desde Windows 7 (mi conexión es por cable directamente al modem (referencias del modem: D-link DSL-2640T)) e instale Ubuntu 11.04 y no puedo acceder a internet, probé con Ubuntu 10.04 (que es el que tengo actualmente instalado) y tampoco funciono no se que debo configurar ni que hacer, simplemente no se conecta, he intentado cambiando de modo automatico a modo manual en ipv4 y colocando los datos correspondientes (dirección IP, máscara de red y servidores de DNS) y no logro conectarme aún, agradezco la ayuda machine traslator Hi, I have a desktop (board: gigabyte h61m, Processor: Intel Core i3 64-bit RAM: 4 GB ddr3) and I can access the internet normally from Windows 7 (my connection is wired directly to the modem (modem references : D-link DSL-2640T)) and install Ubuntu 11.04 and I can not access the internet, I tried Ubuntu 10.04 (which is what I have currently installed) and worked either not set or that I should do, just does not connect, I tried switching from automatic mode to manual mode ipv4 and placing the data (IP address, subnet mask and DNS servers) and I can not even connect, appreciate the help

• March 2010 Chicago Architects Group Wrap Up

  I would like to thank everyone who came out to last night’s event and especially thank Mike Vogt for the presentation. I think at first everyone glassed over since very few of us spend a lot of time with Integration Architecture and most of us live more in the application architecture space.  Learning about subject like BPEL and BPMN was refreshing. The discussion after Mike’s talk was lively and I think that everyone came away with a good idea of areas they might want to know more about.  People stuck around long after the meeting was over. • Create .deb form gambas2 project

  I have been working with Gambas 2 (the one in the software center), Actially I took the source code of other program and create a new program basen on that. But now that I finished, I can't create .deb files, gambas show me this error: La creación del paquete ha fallado. Package.MakeDebPackage.368: File or directory does not exist So I dont know what to do now, I really need this program. I tried with Gambas 3, but is too much work to do that the program based in Gmabas 2 works in Gambas 3, also I tried creating a .deb package and gambas get frozen. Please some help

• Open XML SDK 2 Released

Permalink This post is a little late since the SDK was released about a week ago.  At PSC we have been using the Open XML SDK 2 since its earliest beta.  It is a very powerful tool for generating documents without using the Office DLLs.  It is also the main technology that I have been working with for the last six months.  I would suggest giving it a try.  Stay tuned here.  In the near future I will be presenting at different locations on this and other document generation technologies. • Can not remove cube in UDK

  For some reason, I can't move or remove an 'invisible' cube which is on my map. I searched on Google to find a solution but somehow I still can't remove it. The cube looks like this: http://screencloud.net/v/uNyz In Brush Wireframe: http://screencloud.net/v/3C0c In Wireframe: screencloud.net/v/oGBj As you can see, I want to delete the brown cube. Selecting it and pressing the DEL button won't do anything. So, how do you delete the brown cube? EDIT: Seriously, I wrote this post a few minutes ago and I found the solution. However, I still don't know how to delete the brown cube.

• New Windows Phone 7 Stencil For Cacoo

  I have created a stencil for wire framing Windows Phone 7 application in Cacoo.  This is definitely a work in progress, but until it is complete I would suggest combining this stencil with the Android stencil that is available by default in Cacoo.  Below are a couple of screen shots of the stencil so far. First here is what the stencil window looks like currently. Taking a closer look the main device frame is illustrated below Lastly is the button pallet which contains the icons from the Windows Phone toolkit.   I am really new to ubuntu (12.04) to automount my drive I added this line to fstab /dev/sda4 /media/FF15-ED92 vfat defaults 0 0 But now when I want to delete a directory or a file it doesn't delete like using del key of keyboard so right clicked on that directories and files but there was no option to delete and move to trash was also not clickable. So how can I give myself permissions to do this. Also I can't do this on my pen drive also. I tried this but nothing happened sudo chmod 777 /media/44gb if I change from chmod to chown then it gives that changing ownership of `/media/44gb': Operation not permitted

• Laptop freezes on boot, not sure where to start

  I have an Ubuntu laptop that stops responding when booting up. It will change between consoles with ctrl-alt-FN but pressing enter in the console would not even enter a blank line. The last printed line when booting up in recovery mode was "Skipping EDID probe due to cached edid". Any ideas what might be wrong? Pressing ctrl-alt-del successfully rebooted it when in that mode. Another symptom is that GRUB stopped booting automatically, not sure if related (I doubt it).
