• Running mysql query using node blocks the whole process and then timesout

  I have a node javascript that uses mysql npm (Felix). I have a procedure stored in my DB which I call when the user selects an option to kind of create its own instance of the program. The user chooses for how long he wants that data to be initialized for him. This is suppsoed to be between 1 and 2 years. So if he choose 1 year this query will insert around 20,000 rows into 1 table. If I run this query and a local DB this takes around 30 seconds (I suppose it is reasonable because its a big query which should be done only once in 1 or 2 years so its ok). For some reason my node script freezes as if it can't handle any more calls from other users. The even worse problem is that after like 2 minutes my client ui gets like an error from the server. At this point not all the data that was supposed to enter the DB is entered. After waiting like another minute all the data finally gets to the DB and only then it will accept new requests.   In the Visual Studio output window, you can double click a line that contains a file path and line number and it automatically takes you to that location. In my program, I need to mimic this behavior and be able to click something (a button for example) and do go to a specific file and line number that I tell it to go to. • No parameterless constructor defined for this object when simply copying site

  I'm getting the above error. All I have done is copied an existing site and set-up debugging to use a different port using IISExpress in Visual Studio. Any ideas why I would suddenly get this error? Normally I get this error when StructureMap cannot for some reason resolve a dependency to inject into a controller. But this has me stumped. The code-base is the same. All I've done is copied the code into another folder!?!

I know how to do this through another language, but I'm using SQL Server 2008 with Microsoft SQL Server Manager and it would save me some time from figuring out how to do it through C#.

  Hi all. I have a contact manager program that I'd like to design for multiple network marketing companies. My desired structure would include a core program which covers basic contact management functions. After that one could purchase a module for their specific network marketing company. This module would contain a variety of controls that the original program would need to be able to manipulate. Here is an example of what it would have to have: A group box containing buttons that link to a genealogy view, and the option to import one's donwnline from the back office provided by a company. A panel which is displayed on the contact page allowing the user to input business information or which will be filled by importing a downline from the back office: ie business ID, qualification level, sponsor information etc. a panel displayed when one searches for contacts on the contact list page which allows the user to sort based on information such as when they joined, what their business id is and so forth. a panel which is displayed in a personal business overview page which presents to an individual how many people in their downline are at each qualification level and develop a mailing list for individuals of a certain qualification level. I have the code developed to perform all these functions, I just wanted to give you an example of what needed to be done. I'm thinking that what I'm trying to create is a library that one can download and the program will recognize, but I'm not really sure where to go. What I'm really trying to do is figure out what kind of file I can make that will contain all this code and the GUI information that the program will recognize. Any ideas? With thanks, John

• Calling functions outside paths

  In mongojs, when you do: var birds = db.birds.find(searchTerm, callback); ...how do you pass arguments to the callback? I've tried bind, as in: birds = db.birds.find(searchTerm, app.get('getBirds').bind(res)); ...but to no avail. Just fyi I'm trying to pass the response object of the GET route so that the callback can render using res.send(results). The other option is to set app.set('res': res); and call app.get('res') from the callback - I'm not sure this is a good idea. It works, but it doesn't obey the events loop model too well - I think the request back to the app may be costly? Any help would be gratefully accepted. :)

  I'm having a little problem with jade. Here is the following code : each user in users - if (user.valid == 1) tr(style="color:green;") - else tr(style="color:red;") td = user.mail td = user.lastIp td = user.token td = user.valid My problem is that the tds are created only in the else case. if the if (user.valid == 1) is true, then it creates an empty tr. Is there a way I can create my tr with this condition, and then only fill them ? Thanks :)

  I created a UserControl with the buttons Save, Close and Cancel. I want to close the form without saving on the Cancel button, prompt a message to save on the Close button and Save without closing on the Save button. Normally, I would have used this.Close() on the Cancel button, but the UserControl doesn't have such an option. So I guess I have to set a property for that. Scrolling down the "Questions that may already have your answer" section, I came across this question: How to close a ChildWindow from an UserControl button loaded inside it? I used the following C# code: private void btnCancel_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { ProjectInfo infoScreen = (ProjectInfo)this.Parent; infoScreen.Close(); } This does the job for one screen, but I wonder if I have to apply this code for all the screen I have? I think there should be a more efficient way. So my question is: Do I need to apply this code for every form I have, or is there another (more efficient) way?

• Node.js Cron Job Messing with Date Object

  I'm trying to schedule several cron jobs to generate serial numbers for different entities within my web app. However I am running into this problem, when I'm looping each table, it says it has something to do with date.js. I'm not doing anything with a date object ? Not at this stage anyway. A couple of guesses is that the cron object is doing a date thing in its code and is referencing date.js.   I am using VisualWebDeveloperExpress2008 with Access as the membership provider. I have some cases where I want users to edit their own data. This would involve a query where the UserId should equal the UserID of the user who is using the site. I am expecting to use WHERE UserId = ?, but I have not found out where to direct "?". The IDE gives several choices, but I am uncertain which to choose. • Expressjs route param as variable in main app

  For my app I have two route set up, app.get('/', routes.index); app.get('/:name', routes.index); I would like it to be so that if I don't specify a param, say just go to appurl.com (localhost:3000), it would load a default user, but if I do specify a param(localhost:3000/user), use that as the variable "username" in the following function (placed after my routes). My question is: How can I set expressjs/nodejs to use the parameter set via /name when available, and just use a default - in this example "WillsonSM" if not available. I've tried taking "username" out of the main app, and just leaving it in the function, but username becomes undefined, as it is inaccessible from the route, and the app will not run. I can spit out "username" via the routes console.log, so assigning it there is not an issue, but as I am new to expressjs, I am unaware of how I should go about doing this. I have tried all I can think of and find from looking around the internet. Also, if there is a better way of doing this, or I am doing something wrong, please let me know. If I've left out any information, just throw in a comment and I'll try to address it.

• Dual NVidia graphics cards in Ubuntu / xorg.conf mania

  I have two NVidia graphics cards: Quadro NVS 295 (PCI Express, dual DisplayPort outputs) GeForce FX 5200 (PCI, DVI and VGA outputs) I have three identical monitors, two on DisplayPort and one on DVI. I'm on Ubuntu Hardy (and cannot currently dist-upgrade for separate reasons). I use the "nvidia" driver. What's new is the GeForce card and the third monitor. I currently have the dual DisplayPort monitors working fine. What am I missing? How can I make nvidia-settings show my second GPU so I can then configure its monitor?

• CentOS networking BNX2

  Having some trouble with my NICs. The server starts fine and I can wget/ping etc. However, when I /etc/init.d/networking restart I then receive the following error: Bringing up interface eth0: bnx2: fw sync timeout, reset code = 1030009 SIOCSIFFLAGS: Device or resource busy Consequently, the task fails. I have searched around on google users suggesting to disable PNP in the BIOS but I see no option. • KVM error with device pass through

  I am running the following command booting a Debian live CD passing a host PCI device to the guest as a test and KVM errors out; kvm -m 512 -boot c -net none -hda /media/AA502592502565F3/debian.iso -device pci-assign,host=07:00.0 PCI region 1 at address 0xf7920000 has size 0x80, which is not a multiple of 4K. You might experience some performance hit due to that. No IOMMU found. Unable to assign device "(null)" kvm: -device pci-assign,host=07:00.0: Device 'pci-assign' could not be initialized lspci | grep 07 07:00.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado] (rev 74) I shoved an old spare NIC into my motherboard to test PCI pass through. I have searched the Internet with Goolge and found that errors relating to "No IOMMU found" often mean the PCI device is not supported by KVM. Does KVM have to support the device being "passed-through"? I though the point was to pass the device through and let the guest worry about it? Ultimately I want to pass-through a PCI random number generator, is this not going to be possible with KVM? Thank you.

• XFS disk becomes unavailable after a while

  Ubuntu 12.04 (but the same was on 11.10 before upgrading) WD MyBook, 2TB, no RAID (or RAID0, not completely sure, anyway no mirroring, both 1TB disks are in use, mounted as a single device). Formatted to XFS, normally used for big movie files. Connected to Firewire 800. At some point the LED started going up and down as when constantly reading/writing. The device gives access error. When unplugged (cable, then holding the power button for a while, then unplugging the power) and re-connected becomes available. xfs_check with no results. xfs_repair did something, but looks like didn't fix any error. Then after a massive read (checking 1.5GB torrent file for integrity) becomes unavailable again. Any ideas what's wrong? Drives? Cables? Motherboard? OS? • QLogic QLE8152 won't link up with a fiber loop

  I have a Dell R710 running Debian Linux 6.0 (Squeeze). I installed a QLogic QLE8152 CNA in the PCI-E riser today and I have been trying to get the CNA's ethernet layer to come up after I put a fiber loop on it; I also scoped it with a light meter, and the SFP+ transceiver is getting the correct amount of light. The whole time I have been working on this problem, the lights on the CNA are blinking green at a rate of about 1 flash every 3 seconds. When I plug the fiber into a Juniper EX4500 10GE in a rack next to it, the Juniper's link stays down as well. I have to confess that this is my first wrangling with a CNA, so perhaps I'm doing something fundamentally wrong, but here is what I have found so far... First the basics... • Why is my DB read-only when attached to SQL Express, but not with SQL Web?

  I have an .mdf/.ldf pair, originally created in 2008 R2 Standard, and well under 10GB, with ACLs: d:\db snapshot\DB_NAME.mdf SERVERNAME\SQLServerMSSQLUser$ACCOUNT$MSSQLSERVER:F OWNER RIGHTS:F BUILTIN\Administrators:F d:\db snapshot\DB_NAME_log.ldf SERVERNAME\SQLServerMSSQLUser$ACCOUNT$MSSQLSERVER:F OWNER RIGHTS:F BUILTIN\Administrators:F When I attach the database to an instance of SQL Express 2008 R2, it comes up as read-only. When exactly the same acls and user-accounts and SQLCMD statements are set up with SQL Web 2008 R2, it comes up writable. I looked at MSDN's comparison page but nothing jumped out at me. Why on earth is this happening? Thanks! UPDATE I just noticed that the name of the attached databases are different. On SQL Express (read-only) it matches the filename (e.g. DB_NAME); on SQL Web (writable) it matches the CUSTOM_NAME that I gave it in the attach command: CREATE DATABASE [CUSTOM_NAME] ON (FILENAME = 'PATH_TO_MDF'), (FILENAME = 'PATH_TO_LDF') FOR ATTACH

• Connecting to MSSQL Express in silverlight 4 appl, the db doesn't shows up in Management Studio Expr

  I'm using MSSQLExpress named instance in my Silverlight 4 application. The database located in the web application data folder. I attached the db via VS2010. The program works, but the db doesn't show up in Management Studio Express. If I delete the connection from within VS2010, and Try to attach to db via Management Studio Express, on writes, that the database with same the name already exists. Why the database connected via VS2010 doesn't show up in Management Studio Express? Thanks in advance Gabor
