  • Tool to convert blogger.com content to dasBlog

    - by Daniel Moth
Due to blogger.com dropping FTP support, I've had to move my blog. If you are in a similar situation, this post will help you by showing you the necessary steps to take. Goals No loss on blog posts, comments AND all existing permalinks continue to work (redirect to the correct place). Steps Download the XML files corresponding to your blogger.com content and store them in a folder. Install and configure dasBlog on your local machine. Configure your web.config file (will need updating once you run step 4). Use the tool I describe further down to generate the content and place it at the right place. Test your site locally. Once you are happy, repeat step 2 on your hosting provider of choice. Remember to copy up your dasBlog theme folder if you created one. Copy up the local web.config file and the XML dasBlog content files generated by the tool of step 4. Test your site on the server. Once you are happy, go live (following instructions from your hoster). In my case, I gave the nameservers from my new hoster to my existing domain registrar and they made the switch. Tool (code) At step 4 above I referred to a tool. That is an overstatement, it is simply one 450-line C#code file that you can download here: BloggerToDasBlog.cs. I used this from a .NET 2.0 console app (and I run it under the Visual Studio debugger, i.e. F5) like this: Program.cs. The console app referenced the dasBlog 2.3 ASP.NET Blogging Engine i.e. the newtelligence.DasBlog.Runtime.dll assembly. Let me describe what the code does: Input: A path to a folder where the XML files from the old blogger.com blog reside. It can deal with both types of XML file. A full file path to a file where it creates XML redirect input (as required by the rewriteMap mentioned here). The blog URL. The author's email. The blog author name. A path to an empty folder where the new XML dasBlog content files will get created. The subfolder name used after the domain name in the URL. The 3 reg ex patterns to use. You can use the same as mine, but will need to tweak the monthly_archive rule. Again, to see what values I passed for all the above, see my Program.cs file. Output: It creates dasBlog XML files in the folder specified. It creates those by parsing the old blogger.com XML files that reside in the folder specified. After that is generated, copy it to the "Content" folder under your dasBlog installation. It creates an XML file with a single ignorable root element and a bunch of inner XML elements. You can copy paste these in the web.config file as discussed in this post. Other notes: For each blog post, it detects outgoing links to itself (i.e. to the same blog), and rewrites those to point to the new URLs. So internal links do not rely on the web.config redirects. It deals with duplicate post titles; it does not deal with triplicates and higher. Removes all references to blogger.com (e.g. references to noreply@blogger.com, the injected hidden footer for statistics that each blog post has and others – see the code). It creates a lot of diagnostic output (in the Output window) and indeed the documentation for the code is in the Debug.WriteLine statements ;) This is not code I will maintain or support – it was a throwaway one-use project that I am sharing here as a starting point for anyone finding themselves in the same boat that I was. Enjoy "as is". Comments about this post welcome at the original blog.

  • SerialPort ReadLine() after Thread.Sleep() goes crazy

    - by Mat
Hi everybody, I've been fighting with this issue for a day and I can't find answer for it. I am trying to read data from GPS device trough COM port in Compact Framework C#. I am using SerialPort class (actually my own ComPort class boxing SerialPort, but it adds only two fields I need, nothing special). Anyway.. I am running while loop in a separate thread which reads line from the port, analyze NMEA data, print them, catch all exceptions and then I Sleep(200) the thread, cause I need CPU for other threads... Without Sleep it works fine, but uses 100% CPU.. When I dont use Sleep after few minutes the output from COM port looks like this: GPGSA,A,3,09,12,22,17,15,27,,,,,,,2.6,1.6,2.1*3F GSA,A,3,09,12,22,17,15,27,,,,,,,2.6,1.6,2.1*3F A,A,3,09,12,22,17,15,27,,,,,,,2.6,1.6,2.1*3F ,18,12,271,24,24,05,020,24,14,04,326,25,11,03,023,*76 A,3,09,12,22,17,15,27,,,,,,,2.6,1.6,2.1*3F 3,09,12,22,17,15,27,,,,,,,2.6,1.6,2.1*3F 09,12,22,17,15,27,,,,,,,2.6,1.6,2.1*3F ,12,22,17,15,27,,,,,,,2.6,1.6,2.1*3F as you can see the same message is read few times but cut. I wonder what I'm doing wrong... My port configuration: port.ReadBufferSize = 4096; port.BaudRate = 4800; port.DataBits = 8; port.Parity = Parity.None; port.StopBits = StopBits. One; port.NewLine = "\r\n"; port.ReadTimeout = 1000; port.ReceivedBytesThreshold = 100000; And my reading function: private void processGps(){ while (!closing) { //reconnect if needed try { string sentence = port.ReadLine(); //here print the sentence //analyze the sentence (this takes some time 50-100ms) } catch (TimeoutException) { Thread.Sleep(0); } catch (IOException ioex) { //handling IO exception (some info on the screen) } Thread.Sleep(200); } } There is some more stuff in this function like reconnection if the device is lost etc.. but it is not called when the GPS is connected properly.. I was trying port.DiscardInBuffer(); after some blocks of code (in TimeoutException, after read..) Did anyone had similar problem? I really dont know what I'm doing wrong.. The only way to get rig of it is removing the last Sleep... Thanks in advance! Best Regards, Mat

  • make local only daemon listening on different interface (using iptables port forwarding)?

    - by UniIsland
i have a daemon program which listens on 127.0.0.1:8000. i need to access it when i connect to my box with vpn. so i want it to listen on the ppp0 interface too. i've tried the "ssh -L" method. it works, but i don't think it's the right way to do that, having an extra ssh process running in the background. i tried the "netcat" method. it exits when the connection is closed. so not a valid way for "listening". i also tried several iptables rules. none of them worked. i'm not listing here all the rules i've used. iptables -A FORWARD -j ACCEPT iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i ppp+ -p tcp --dport 8000 -j DNAT --to-destination 127.0.0.1:8000 the above ruleset doesn't work. i have net.ipv4.ip_forward set to 1. anyone knows how to redirect traffic from ppp interface to lo? say, listen on "192.168.45.1:8000 (ppp0)" as well as "127.0.0.1:8000 (lo)" there's no need to alter the port. thanx

  • How to debug unreleased COM references from managed code?

    - by Marek
I have been searching for a tool to debug unreleased COM references, that usually cause e.g. Word/Outlook processes to hang in memory in case the code does not call Marshal.ReleaseCOMObject on all COM instances correctly. (Outlook 2007 partially fixes this for outlook addins, but this is a generic question). Is there a tool that would display at least a list of COM references (by type) held by managed code? Ideally, it would also display memory profiler-style object trees helping to debug where the reference increment occured. Debugging at runtime is not that important as being able to attach to a hung process - because the problem typically occurs when the code is done with the COM interface and someone forgot to release something - the application (e.g. winword) hangs in memory even after the calling managed application quits. If such tool does not exist, what is the (technical?) reason? It would be very useful for debugging a lot of otherwise very hard to find problems when working with COM interop.

  • XNA Notes 010

    - by George Clingerman
With GDC 2011 wrapping up there were a LOT of great interviews and posts with and about XNA and XBLIG and some of our more notorious developers. Definitely worth spending many, many hours watching, listening and reading all those. Very inspiring! Also, don’t forget to get signed up for Dream Build Play! And just as an early warning reminder do NOT, I repeat do NOT wait to submit your game the last day. There are major issues submitting the last day every year and you do not want all your hard work to be hanging on whether your entry actually went through in that last day. • proftpd, dynamic IP, and filezilla: port troubles

    - by Yami
The basic setup: Two computers, one running proftpd, one attempting to connect via filezilla. Both linux (xubuntu on the server, kubuntu on the client). Both are at the moment behind a router on a residential (read: dynamic IP) connection; the client is a laptop I plan to take away from the home network, so I'll need this to work externally. I have my router set up to allow specific ports forwarded to each machine and, where possible, have plugged in those numbers into proftpd (via gadmin, double-checking the config file) and filezilla. Attempting to connect via active mode using the internal IP works: Status: Connecting to 192.168.1.139:8085... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 220 Crossroads FTP Command: USER <redacted> Response: 331 Password required for <redacted> Command: PASS ******* Response: 230 Anonymous access granted, restrictions apply Command: OPTS UTF8 ON Response: 200 UTF8 set to on Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 257 "/" is the current directory Command: TYPE I Response: 200 Type set to I Command: PORT 192,168,1,52,153,140 Response: 200 PORT command successful Command: LIST Response: 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list Response: 226 Transfer complete Status: Directory listing successful Attempting to connect via the domain name, however, leads to issues; in active mode, the PORT is the last command to be received according to the server's logs, and in passive mode, it's the PASV command. This leads me to believe I'm being redirected to a bad port? Active Sample: Status: Resolving address of <url> Status: Connecting to <ip:port> Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 220 Crossroads FTP Command: USER <redacted> Response: 331 Password required for <redacted> Command: PASS ******* Response: 230 Anonymous access granted, restrictions apply Command: OPTS UTF8 ON Response: 200 UTF8 set to on Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 257 "/" is the current directory Command: TYPE I Response: 200 Type set to I Command: PORT 174,111,127,27,153,139 Response: 200 PORT command successful Command: LIST Error: Connection timed out Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing Passive sample: Status: Resolving address of ftp.bonsaiwebdesigns.com Status: Connecting to 174.111.127.27:8085... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 220 Crossroads FTP Command: USER yamikuronue Response: 331 Password required for yamikuronue Command: PASS ******* Response: 230 Anonymous access granted, restrictions apply Command: OPTS UTF8 ON Response: 200 UTF8 set to on Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 257 "/" is the current directory Command: TYPE I Response: 200 Type set to I Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (64,95,64,197,101,88). Command: LIST Error: Connection timed out Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing In both cases, the log file ends at "PORT" or "PASV" - there's no record of ever receiving a "LIST" command. Just above that I can see the attempt to connect actively via the internal IP, which does indeed include a LIST command. My config file includes "PassivePorts 20001-26999", which are the port forwards I set up for the ftp server, and "Port 8085", which is also forwarded to the same machine. I also have a MasqueradeAddress set up to prevent it from reporting its internal IP, which was an earlier issue I had. I think what I'm asking is, is there another setting someplace I have to change to get this setup to work?

  • xen 4.1 host priodically dropping network packets of domU

    - by Dyutiman Chakraborty
I have xen 4.1 Host running on a ubuntu 12.04 LTS Server with ip 153.x.x.54. I have setup 2 VMs on it, namely, "dev.mydomain.com" and "web.mydomain.com" with ips 195.X.X.2 and 195.x.x.3 respectively. For network the VMs connect through xendbr0 (xen-bridge), and can accces the network properly. I can also login to the VMs with ssh with no issue. However when I ping any of the VMs, there is a high amount of periodic packet drop. If I the ping the xen host (dom0) there is no packet drop. Following is a output of "tcpdump | grep ICMP" on dOM0 while I was pinging one of the domU tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on eth0, link-type • Open ports broken from internal network

    - by ksvi
Quick summary: Forwarded port works from the outside world, but from the internal network using the external IP the connection is refused. This is a simplified situation to make the explanation easier: I have a computer that is running a service on port 12345. This computer has an internal IP 192.168.1.100 and is connected directly to a modem/router which has internal IP 192.168.1.1 and external (public, static) IP 1.2.3.4. (The router is TP-LINK TD-w8960N) I have set up port forwarding (virtual server) at port 12345 to go to port 12345 at 192.168.1.100. If I run telnet 192.168.1.100 12345 from the same computer everything works. But running telnet 1.2.3.4 12345 says connection refused. If I do this on another computer (on the same internal network, connected to the router) the same thing happens. This would seem like the port forwarding is not working. However... If I run a online port checking service on my external IP and the service port it says the port is open and I can see the remote server connecting and immediately closing connection. And using another computer that is connected to the internet using a mobile connection I can also use telnet 1.2.3.4 12345 and I get a working connection. So the port forwarding seems to be working, however using external IP from the internal network doesn't. I have no idea what can be causing this, since another setup very much like this (different router) works for me. I can access a service running on a server from inside the network both through the internal and external IP. Note: I know I could just use the internal IP inside of the network to access this service. But if I have a laptop that must be able to do this both from inside and outside it would be annoying to constantly switch between 1.2.3.4 and 192.168.1.100 in the software configuration. • What's wrong with cplusplus.com?

    - by Kerrek SB
This is perhaps not a perfectly suitable forum for this question, but let me give it a shot, at the risk of being moved away. There are several references for the C++ standard library, including the invaluable ISO standard, MSDN, IBM, cppreference, and cplusplus. Personally, when writing C++ I need a reference that has quick random access, short load times and usage examples, and I've been finding cplusplus.com pretty useful. However, I've been hearing negative opinions about that website frequently here on SO, so I would like to get specific: What are the errors, misconceptions or bad pieces of advice given by cplusplus.com? What are the risks of using it to make coding decisions? Let me add this point: I want to be able to answer questions here on SO with accurate quotes of the standard, and thus I would like to post immediately-usable links, and cplusplus.com would have been my choice site were it not for this issue. Update: There have been many great responses, and I have seriously changed my view on cplusplus.com. I'd like to list a few choice results here; feel free to suggest more (and keep posting answers). As of June 29, 2011: Incorrect description of some algorithms (e.g. remove). Information about the behaviour of functions is sometimes incorrect (atoi), fails to mention special cases (strncpy), or omits vital information (iterator invalidation). Examples contain deprecated code (#include style). Inexact terminology is doing a disservice to learners and the general community ("STL", "compiler" vs "toolchain"). Incorrect and misleading description of the typeid keyword.

  • FotoJeff.com | My Photography Blog

    - by Jeff Julian
I have been recently been doing more photography and Flickr was only allowing me to do so much with the images in displaying them.  No customization of skin, no page grouping, no post like pages.  So I decided to host a WordPress blog to host my images.  I really wanted to try WordPress to see what features single-hosted blog products offer that our multiple-hosted blog system could take advantage of.  So far the product is very cool, I can see how such a large developer network would help produce such cool “apps” for WP.  The product makes if very easy to make changes to your hosted environment that would be a little scary for a multiple blog host.  I need to compare features for their hosted solution. Any who, FotoJeff.com is my new photography blog home.  I have been working with the Kansas City Rescue Mission a lot lately so most of my shots are for them. FotoJeff.com – Photography Blog of Jeff Julian My hope is to make this blog again my technology blog, Staff of Geeks our Geekswithblogs.net announcement blog and FotoJeff.com my photography blog.  I need to start dog fooding my thoughts on blogging and keep the noise down (by making more noise with this post :D). • People's experience of Cloud Computing (using Force.com)

    - by Digger
I would like to know about people's experience of working with APEX and the SalesForce.com platform, was it easy to work with? How similar to Java and C# is it? What did you like? What don't you like? Would you recommend it? Do you think cloud computing has a long term successful future? My reason for asking is that I am currently looking at a new position which involves working with APEX on the SalesForce.com platform. The position interests me but I just want to try and understand what I might be signing up for with regards the languages/platform as it is completely different from what I have worked with before. I have seen lots of videos/blog posts online (mainly from the recent Dreamforce event) and they obviously are very positive but I was just after some experiences from developers, both positive and negative. I find cloud computing a very interesting idea, but I am very new to the subject. The position I am looking at offers a fantastic opportunity but I was just after some opinions on APEX and the platform as I have no real world experience just what I have seen from the online videos. I guess ultimately what I am asking is: Are APEX and the SalesForce.com platform good to get involved in? Is development on the Force.com just a "career dead end"? Is cloud computing just a fad? Or does it have a long term future? Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to ask such a question. Thanks

  • Google results show .info domain instead of .com

    - by user481913
I am on shared hosting currently and i registered this account with a .info domain as the main domain.... say MyDomain.info . However, the site runs from MyDomain.com . This is a cpanel based shared hosting account. MyDomain.info has nothing hosted at all... i.e no content files... MyDomain.com is setup as an Add On Domain and run from /public_html/MyDomain under MyDomain.info The problem is that when i type MyDomain as the keyword for search in Google , it shows result(s)for Mydomain.info although this is not the intended site and has no content hosted on itself. I tried to solve the issue by issuing a 301 permanent redirect from MyDomain.info to MyDomain.com, however Google keeps on displaying results as mydomain.info as the main site even after 1 month of the redirect. I want google to index MyDomain.com as the main site and remove MyDomain.info from the results. Also is this harmful from the seo point of view? How can i improve the seo if it is?

  • foobar.com working, but www.foobar.com not working?

    - by dpmattingly
I am setting up a web site for a client. She is using GoDaddy for domain registration, and a hosting company I have never used before. After setting up the nameservers on GoDaddy's side, the address foobar.com (for example) is correctly directing to the new site. However, the address www.foobar.com is redirecting to a 404 page on the hosting company's side. I've been dealing with customer service on the hosting side, and they have told me various things including wait for DNS propagation (which has obviously happened since the 404 page is on their side), and to make sure that the nameservers on GoDaddy's side were entered in lower case instead of upper case (which I know doesn't matter since nameservers are case insensitive). I think I'm getting the runaround from the hosting company, but the client had signed up with them before I came to the project, so if possible I'd like to resolve this issue with them before we start treating it as a loss. Does anybody know what could cause foobar.com to resolve correctly but www.foobar.com to not resolve? How would I best be able to suggest a fix to this through the technical support channels of a hosting company?

  • Can I use manifests to consume a COM server without specifying its version?

    - by sharptooth
Two of our programs use the same COM server (also made by us) with the same class ids. Each program when installing copies the COM server files into its folder and regsvr32s the COM server. The problem is how to install the COM server so that the user can install either one or both of our programs into different folders in any order and likely of different versions. Clearly it's impossible without changing the class ids and that's lots of hassle with configurations. Ideally we would like to use manifests for that and go without regsvr32. The problem is every time I read about reg-free COM (for example, here) there's the version attribute in the assemblyIdentity. The version number should change every nightly build and I totally don't like the idea of (automatically) adjusting it. I understand why specifying dependency on a specific version is good, but it's completely useless in our scenarion. Is there a way to write manifests for both the COM server and the consumer so that they don't specify versions and just work with whatever version of the file happens to be in the folder? Also is there a way to restrict the search to the same folder as the consumer?

  • net.tcp Listener Adapter and net.tcp Port Sharing Service not starting on reboot

    - by Peter K.
I am using the net.tcp protocol for various web services. When I reboot my Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) macbook pro, the service never restarts automatically, even though that is how they are set: The only relevant events I can see are in the System Event Log: Error 6/9/2011 19:47 Service Control Manager 7001 None The Net.Tcp Listener Adapter service depends on the Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service which failed to start because of the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." Error 6/9/2011 19:47 Service Control Manager 7000 None The Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." Error 6/9/2011 19:47 Service Control Manager 7009 None A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service to connect. This post suggests that it's something else blocking the port (in the post it's SCCM 2007 R3 Client which I don't use). What else could be the problem? If it's something else blocking the port, how do I figure out what? When I manually start the services, they start correctly. Dependencies are: Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service Net.Tcp Listener Adapter Still no luck, but I think the problem might be that my network connection takes too long to come up. I put in a custom view of the event log, and found these items: The first in the series says: A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service to connect.

  • on debian, lighttpd apache2 using 80 port, lighttpd throws :address already use error

    - by user1960581
    I bought the linode(linode.com) server the other day. I've been trying to run lighttpd and apache2 at the same port, using lighttpd for static files. As linode is only providing ONE ipv4 address, I tried to bind lighttpd on the ipv6 address. That's where I got the same error each and very single time: can't bind to port [ipv6] 80 Address already in use. I tried bind the ipv4 address. Everything worked. Please help me, this is driving me nuts for the last two days. my lighttpd.conf file:(the ipv6 address isn't true) server.modules = ( "mod_access", "mod_alias", "mod_compress", "mod_redirect", # "mod_rewrite", ) server.document-root = "/var/www" server.upload-dirs = ( "/var/cache/lighttpd/uploads" ) server.errorlog = "/var/log/lighttpd/error.log" server.pid-file = "/var/run/lighttpd.pid" server.username = "www-data" server.groupname = "www-data" server.port = 80 server.bind = "2600:3c02::0000" server.use-ipv6 = "enable" #server.pid-file = "/var/run/lighttpd.pid" index-file.names = ( "index.php", "index.html", "index.lighttpd.html" ) url.access-deny = ( "~", ".inc" ) static-file.exclude-extensions = ( ".php", ".pl", ".fcgi" ) compress.cache-dir = "/var/cache/lighttpd/compress/" compress.filetype = ( "application/javascript", "text/css", "text/html", "text/plain" ) # default listening port for IPv6 falls back to the IPv4 port #include_shell "/usr/share/lighttpd/use-ipv6.pl " + server.port include_shell "/usr/share/lighttpd/create-mime.assign.pl" include_shell "/usr/share/lighttpd/include-conf-enabled.pl" ### ipv6 ### $SERVER["socket"] == "[2600:3c02::0000]:80" { # accesslog.filename = "var/log/lighttpd/ipv6/access.log" # server.document-root = "/var/www/" # server.error-handler-404 = "/index.php?error=404" } and the error message: can't bind to port, 2600:3c02::0000 Address already in use.

  • ipv6 port 445 does not accept the request from a global type address

    - by blacktea
I want to scan the port 445 in windows server 2003, but my scanner only have one type ipv6 address which is global not link-local. When I do this,I find that I can't find port 445 open. But I use the command "netstat -an" to assure the port 445 is listening. Finally I find this confusing phenomenon: 1.when I set a link-local ddress in my scanner, then it will work in scanning port 445. 2.when I only set a global address in my scanner, it doed not work. This means if a host with a link-local address use socket to send a syn packet to the port 445 in server 2003, it will receive a ack packet. But if with a global address it will receive a rst packet. Thus, I can't scan the port 445 in server 2003 with a global address. I need to know why? Can anybody help? And I use the netsh-firewall to check the exception and netsh-interface-ipv6 to turn off the firewall on the specific interface. Still can't establish the connection with port 445, do you have any ideal about this ?

  • How to use DNS/Hostnames or Other ways to resolve to a specific IP:Port

    - by tomaszs
This is a Canonical Question about DNS/Hostnames resolution to IPs/Ports Example 1 I'm running a web server on port 80 and another on port 87. I would like to use DNS so that www.example.com goes to port 87. How can I accomplish this using DNS only? Example 2 I'm running a service on my server on a non-standard port. How can I get clients to connect to this non-standard port automatically? Can I use DNS? Is there some application specific support where DNS could indicate the IP and Port? Example 3 Do some application protocols specifically support hostname awareness, and allow special actions to be taken based on this information? Are there other questions on Server Fault that cover some of these? Commandeering: This question was originally asking about running IIS and Apache on the same server, but the same concepts can be applied to any server software receiving connections from clients. The Answers below describe the technical problems and solutions of using DNS and application protocol support to assign a port number for a client to connect.

  • port forwarding with socks over proxy

    - by Oz123
I am trying to browse a wiki that runs on a server inside one domain from another domain. The wiki is accessible only on the LAN, but I need to browse it from another LAN to which I connect with an SSH tunnel ... Here is my setup and the steps I did so far: ~.ssh/confing on wikihost: Host gateway User kisteuser Port 443 Hostname gateway.companydomain.com ProxyCommand /home/myuser/bin/ssh-https-tunnel %h %p # ssh-https-tunnel: # http://ttcplinux.sourceforge.net/tools/stunnel Protocol 2 IdentityFile ~/.ssh/key_dsa LocalForward 11069 localhost:11069 Host server1 User kisteuser Hostname localhost Port 11069 LocalForward 8022 server1:22 LocalForward 17001 server1:7100 LocalForward 8080 www-proxy:3128 RemoteForward 11069 localhost:22 from wikihost myuser@wikihost: ssh -XC -t gateway.companydomain.com ssh -L11069:localhost:22 server1 on another terminal: ssh gateway.companydomain.com Now, on my companydomain I would like to start firefox and browse the wiki on wikihost. I did: [email protected].com ~ $ ssh gateway Have a lot of fun... kisteuser@gateway ~ $ ssh -D 8383 localhost user@localhost's password: user@wikiserver:~> My .ssh/config on that side looks like that: host server1 localforward 11069 localhost:11069 host localhost user myuser port 11069 host wikiserver forwardagent yes user myuser port 11069 hostname localhost Now, I started firefox on the server called gateway, and edited the proxy settings to use SOCKSv5, specifying that the proxy should be gateway and use the port 8383... kisteuser@gateway ~ $ LANG=C firefox -P --no-remote And, now I get the following error popping in the Terminal of wikiserver: myuser@wikiserver:~> channel 3: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused channel 3: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused channel 3: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused Confused? Me too ... Please help me understand how to properly build the tunnels and browse the wiki over SOCKS protocol. update: I managed to browse the wiki on wikiserver with the following changes: host wikiserver forwardagent yes user myuser port 11069 hostname localhost localforward 8339 localhost:8443 Now when I ssh gateway I launch Firefox and go to localhost:8339 and I hit the start page of the wiki, which is served on Port 8443. Now I ask myself is SOCKS really needed? Can someone elaborate on that ?

  • Flash Player error logs on Mac OS X

    - by paleozogt
    I'm on Mac OS X 10.5.8 running Flash Player 10,0,32,18. Flash Player is dumping giant amounts of error logging into the system log (stuff like "bit length overflow" and "code 0 bits 6-7"). Here's a tiny sampling: Oct 14 13:09:41 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:09:41 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 6 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:09:41 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:09:41 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 5 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:09:55 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:09:55 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 6 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:09:55 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:09:55 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 5 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:09:55 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:09:55 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 0 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:10:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:10:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 4 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:10:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:10:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 12 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:10:20 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:10:20 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 6 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:10:20 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:10:20 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 5 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:10:21 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:10:21 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 0 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:10:21 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:10:21 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 12 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:10:31 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:10:31 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 7 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:10:31 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:10:31 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 12 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:11:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:11:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 3 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:11:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:11:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 4 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:11:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:11:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 3 bits 7->6 Oct 14 13:11:06 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 4 bits 5->6 Oct 14 13:11:07 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:11:07 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 3 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:11:07 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:11:07 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 3 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:11:15 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:11:15 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 3 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:11:26 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Oct 14 13:11:26 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 7 bits 6->7 Oct 14 13:11:26 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 0 bits 4->5 Oct 14 13:11:26 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 14 bits 4->5 Oct 14 13:11:26 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 10 bits 5->4 Oct 14 13:11:26 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: code 4 bits 5->4 Oct 14 13:11:26 thorst-2 [0x0-0x58058].com.adobe.flash-10.0[2416]: bit length overflow Any ideas on what this may be about?
