  • Second Monitor Unable to Display at any Resolution

    After connecting the second monitor, the only way to get it to work is with 'mirror', which isn't what I want it for. If I select a display resolution for it, I get the following error: requested position/size for CRTC 148 is outside the allowed limit: position=(1908, 0), size=(1024, 768), maximum=(1920, 1920) I'm on 12.04, with AMD HD Radeon 6950, Post-update drivers. I appreciate anybodies help with this. Thanks.

  • How to handle an AsyncTask during Screen Rotation?

    I read a lot on how to save my instance state or how to deal with my activity getting destroyed during screen rotation. There seem to be a lot of possibilities but I haven't figured out which one works best for retrieving results of an AsyncTask. I have some AsyncTasks that are simply started again and call the isFinishing() method of the activity and if the activity is finishing they wont update anything. The problem is that I have one Task that does a request to a web service that can fail or succeed and restarting the task would result in a financial loss for the user. How would you solve this? What are the advantages or disadvantages of the possible solutions?

    Hi, I am new to iphone development. I want to display the actual size of the image in image view. I have created image view by using Interface builder and set the properties. Now the problem is, I have set into "Scale to Fill", then the image will be stretched in the full screen. Now i want to display the actual size of the image will be displayed in image view. For example 52X52 size image should be displayed with the same size in the image view.The 1200X1020 size image should be fit to the size of the image view .So according the size of the image it should fit to image view and i want the image smaller than image view should retain its original size(It should not stretch to fit the image view). Is it any possible solution to achieve it, please guide me. Thanks.

    Hi, I created a CGRegisterScreenRefreshCallback(refreshCallback, NULL) and in the refreshCallback method get the list of rectangles which have changed. I am getting the rectangle data from frameBuffer using OpenGL glReadPixels. Is there a better way of screen capture either with/without opengl and also using OpenGL can I skip reading pixel by pixel ? I have looked at glGetTexImage and glCopyTexSubImage2D. Any simple code block which can explain how to use these functions to get the changed rectangle data would be very helpful ? Thanks, Raja.

    Im using the following code to adjust the brightness of the screen: public void SetBright(float value) { Window mywindow = getWindow(); WindowManager.LayoutParams lp = mywindow.getAttributes(); lp.screenBrightness = value; mywindow.setAttributes(lp); } But i want the brightness to be 0% for a specific time. But when i use SetBright(0.0f), i cant change it back. I made a timer that runs for a minute with 0% brightness, then turns it back to 100%. Works when i use 10% for example. But when i turn it to 0% i cant seem to wake it up again. Any ideas how to solve this?

    The other day I found myself addicted to a flash game and frustrated by the thing at the same time. In a moment of frustration with the game I thought I would make a 'bot' to beat it for me. Well, I really wouldn't, but it made me realize: I don't know how to interact with another application in a way to do this. Which brings me to the question, how would one take screenshots of another running application and interact with it with the keyboard and mouse. Ideally the solution would be in a managed language like c#. When doing the background reading the net was drowning with articles on scrapping HTML. There were not many articles on actually screen scrapping an application. Diverse answers are appreciated as I’m really looking at surveying what’s out there.

  • App stays in splash screen in iOS 7.0.3

    Recently in iOS 7.0.3, my app stays in the splash screen and was not going into the app at all. If i kill the app, and launch it again it opens up without any issues. Can anyone help me on this issue?. I think the application -didFinishLaunchingWithOptions was not returning yes. Note: I have a lot of stuffs like deleting database, initializing a dozen of buttons in appdelegate's *init* function. I know that it is a bad practice to have things in init but since its been there for more than 4 years and was working fine with previous OS versions i didn't find a good reason to change it. Also this issue is not happening all the time. My app size is 40 MB. Thanks in advance...

    I was looking for some beginner advice regarding level design across multiple resolutions. I believe the answer is likely "it depends", but any input from anyone with real experience is very appreciated. Basically, I am building a 2D Super Metroid type game. If rooms/levels are to be a tiled grid, what are some general best practices for designing rooms when taking into account different resolutions? Since more or less tiles could fit vertically on a single screen depending on the resolution, is it better to design towards possibly having more of the room visible depending on the screen (with a bare minimum needed for gameplay), or should I fix the design at a certain tile height and scale the graphics?

    I came to Unity with Cocos2D experience in mind. In Cocos2D, I can choose a "virtual" screen resolution size to rely on the entire game during development and the game will automatically adapt to different screen sizes in various devices. Now that I'm migrating to Unity and has access to 4.3 beta which has a native 2D workflow, is there a similar mechanism that will automate this? After playing around a bit with Unity, I also found out that Unity uses a neutral coordinate unit that can translate to pixels flexibly (CMIIW). But when developing a 2D game, I need them in pixels.     I'm attempting to write a screen scraper for Digikey that will allow our company to keep accurate track of pricing, part availability and product replacements when a part is discontinued. There seems to be a discrepancy between the XPATH that I'm seeing in Chrome Devtools as well as Firebug on Firefox and what my C# program is seeing.   • Mac does not recognize wide screen

    I am using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 on my Mac mini, with Samsung monitor with default resolution 1360 x 768. My Mac mini is connected to Samsung VGA port by Apple mini port to VGA adapter. When starting, my Mac does not recognize the wide screen resolution and always starts in a 4:3 mode, (but it shows 1360x768 as the resolution in the settings). I have to do one of the following actions to bring my Mac to the wide screen resolution: (1) Changing to some other resolution and bring back to the default resolution. (2) Unplug the Apple mini port to VGA adapter and re-connect again. (3) Put the machine to sleep and wake it up again. I am using Ubuntu 12.04, (in a different partition) in the same hardware, but Ubuntu is perfectly recognizing the display.

    I'm a new user to GNU Screen. I've been using Bash for a very long time, and I want to give GNU Screen a try. As you know, GNU Screen uses 'C-a' (Control-A) as as the command character. Trouble is, this interferes with the Line Editing feature in Bash (and GNU Readline), because Control-A in Bash will Move to the start of the line." I know I can set the Command Character to another key sequence, like "^Q" or "``" (Backtick), but I have trouble finding another key sequence which isn't already in use (^Q is used by the terminal, backtick is used when writing shell scripts). It appears that the Command Character may only be one or two characters in length. Can I set the GNU Screen control character to be something like "Control-Shift-A"? (I can't use more then one hyperlink yet, so I cannot link to the Bash documentation)

  • iPhone: Switching from a map screen to a battle screen without the map progress being reset

I'm trying to make a role-playing game, and I want the game to work so that it transitions to the battle NIB for battles, then returns back to the map NIB afterward, yet still retain all the progress the player has made exploring the dungeon. I've tried proto-typing this with just a view-switcher, where one view creates content, and then switches to the other view, and then coming back from the other view. However, once the view goes back to the original, the original view is reset. How to make the data persistent so that it doesn't reset after every "battle"? Thanks!

LCD Does that make a difference? All I can get to work on the new screen is the backlight. The old screen had a crack. Now when I plug the old one in, it will not turn on at all. Could I have blown the inverter or messed up the cable?

    What should look like X Window System (X.Org) modeline to be put in xorg.conf, for high resolution (incuding recommended 1680x1050 @ 50Hz resolution) for 22" NEC LCD 22WV monitor? X.Org autodetect correctly only 800x600 and lower resolution SVGA modes, unfortunately. How can I generate proper "Modeline" line for xorg.conf? Is information included in NEC_Datasheet_LCD22WV-english.pdf enough (found on NEC LCD 22WV product info page)? What tools there are available to generate proper modeline for a LCD monitor for Linux? MS Windows (MS Windows XP Home) correctly detects and use 1680x1050 resolution; can I somehow get modeline information from MS Windows?

    I've got Mantis running on a Linux VM with a Win2k8 server host. I installed Samba with the following configuration: [global] workgroup = COMPANY netbios name = MANTIS security = share Now on all our windows machines people can simple go to http://mantis, rather than http://172.16.0.20. However, this doesn't appear to work on the Mac machines. Any ideas how I can sort this without changing anything on the Windows server?

  • Need to hookup HP dv7-3085dx with Nvidia GeForce GT 230M to my Dell 30 inch LCD 3007WFP at max resol

    I recently bought an HP laptop (dv7-3085dx) (http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv7-3085dx/4505-3121_7-33776108.html) which is supposed to have a pretty good video card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M). The card is supposed to output a max resolution of 2560x1600 which is also the max resolution of my monitor (http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2006/02/dell_3007wfp_on_dell_2001fp_action_8_megapixel_desktop.html). Now I bought an HDMI to dual link dvi (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KKLYDK/ref=oss_product) cable...this is after Best Buy's 70 dollar hdmi to dvi (perhaps it was 'single' link?) didn't give me the best resolution. In windows 7, when I try to set the max resolution for my 30 in monitor, I only get 1280x800...which is absurd. The monitor is great, I love the laptop and the video card supposedly supports such resolutions. So I can't figure out why I'm not getting better resolution (by the way, when i "detect" my monitor in windows 7, it is shown correctly as DELL 3007WFP!).

  • Fixing parent controller's elements after screen orientation

    I have a tab bar application with mixed orientation support for only some views. One of the child view controller shown from one of the tab's navigation controller is displayed only in Landscape mode. In order to accomplish this, I've done the view transformation for the child view as suggested here: Is there a documented way to set the iPhone orientation? The only problem I'm seeing is that after I've performed the orientation adjustment for the child controller and then readjusted orientation back to normal on its dismissal, the contents of the (parent) navigation controller is still shown with Landscape mode dimensions despite the navigation controller reporting the correct value for the interfaceOrientation. How do I ensure that view's size is reset to match the orientation without hardcoding screen dimensions? I have the following in the root navigation controller's viewWillAppear (invoked after the child controller is dismissed): - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { NSLog(@"viewFrame: (%2f, %2f), width: %2f, height: %2f\n", self.view.frame.origin.x, self.view.frame.origin.y, self.view.frame.size.width, self.view.frame.size.height); // Frame values are (0, 0) for (x,y) width: 320, height: 367 before I // displayed child controller. // Frame values are (0,0) width: 480, height: 219 after returning from child // controller -- still has the landscape dimensions NSLog(@"orientation: %d", self.interfaceOrientation); // reports portrait as expected } I've tried to invoke 'layoutIfNeeded' as well as 'setNeedsDisplay' on the view but neither of them bring the view contents into the correct display.     This is a bit of a followup to this question. I'm working in tcsh within GNU screen in an xterm. I have the following in my .cshrc: alias res_t 'xtset -t %h:%d "(%u:%g)" %e' # reset titlebar res_t # reset title right now alias precmd res_t And this works fine! However, when I run screen I see that the title doesn't get updated with the current directory. How can I make screen update the xterm title?
