• unable to retract Sharepoint solutions

  Hi all: I am having trouble retracting solutions in SharePoint 2007. I used both the retract solution button and the stsadm command in command line. The timer job was created in both instances, but it never gets run... it just sits in the timer job definition. The Status of the target just said "Retracting (scheduled at m/dd/yyyy MM:SS AM/PM)". I've waited for a long time and nothing happens. Has anyone experienced this before, and does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks.

• Keep a Google Maps v3 Map Hidden, show when needed

  Is there a way of preventing Google Maps (JS, v3) of being displayed from the get-go ? I do some pre-processing and would like to show my 'Loading' spinner until everything is good to go (more eloquently put, hide the map -- e.g. the container div -- until all preprocessing is complete -- at which point, show the map). Hooking to the map's 'idle' event doesn't help that much, since the map is already displayed when this event hits. I know that the container div gets inline-styled by GMaps after loading, my first idea is to clear out the style attr (whilst listening to 'idle'), but it would be interesting to see if there is a way of creating the map and not displaying it until all pre-processing is done. Maybe by using an argument to the new google.maps.Map constructor, or a MapOption ? Any thoughts on this ? Thank you in advance !

• Threaded Django task doesn't automatically handle transactions or db connections?

  I've got Django set up to run some recurring tasks in their own threads, and I noticed that they were always leaving behind unfinished database connection processes (pgsql "Idle In Transaction"). I looked through the Postgres logs and found that the transactions weren't being completed (no ROLLBACK). I tried using the various transaction decorators on my functions, no luck. I switched to manual transaction management and did the rollback manually, that worked, but still left the processes as "Idle". So then I called connection.close(), and all is well. But I'm left wondering, why doesn't Django's typical transaction and connection management work for these threaded tasks that are being spawned from the main Django thread?

• Memory leak till crash due to HttpRequest

  I played with HttpRequest and realized that the memory is not cleaned up after any request. After some time the running tab within Chrome will crash. Here is some testing code. • After .load() Reset Textbox with User Entered Value using JavaScript and jQuery

  My function below calls a partial view after a user enters a filter-by string into the text box '#DocId'. When the user is done typing, the partial view is displayed with filtered data. Since my textbox needs to be in the partial view, when user is done entering a filter-by string and is shown the filtered data, the textbox is reset and the user entered data is lost. How can I set the value of the textbox back to the user entered string after the partial view is displayed? Now all the widgets in my windows eg. button, Label Ect. will have to change color. EG. i Have a global variabel wich i will set as color "red" fx... All the widgets BACKGROUND option is associated with the global variabel. Now on button press i will change the global variable to "green" so that the background of all widgets ect. will change color, but they DONT. i thought the .mainloop() sort of UPDATED the window. how can i have the widgets to change background color when my variable change WITHOUT restarting my application??? ty Xanthar

• Getting values from datagrid view column to list<>

  My main form in my application has a datagrid view that can have 1 to many user selected inputs. Column 8 of this grid is for the user to input "time in minutes." I have a separate class where I have built a timer that counts down from whatever time the user specifies down to 0. What I need is to create a series of alarms that go off as the timer counts down that are triggered by the user input values in column 8 of my datagrid. I think the best way to do this is to build a list< from the values in the datagrid. I for whatever reason can't quite figure out how to get the values from the datagrid in to a list< in my other class. Hopefully I explained in a way that makes sense.

• pyschool is wrong ?

  I'm currently learning python and trying to do exercises at pyschools (if anyone knows what it is). Anyway, i have an exercise that asks me to do the following : Write a function percent(value, total) that takes in two numbers as arguments, and returns the percentage value as an integer. Here's my code: def percent(value, total): percent = value / total * 100 return int(percent) It works great in my Python Idle and it gives all the correct answers. however, when i run it in the pyschools website, it says that , for example , when the function is called with parameters 46 and 90 , the function returns 0. However, in my python idle , it correctly returns 51. What might be the problem ? Thank you very much for your help!

  Imagine a situation where tasks are being added to scheduledthreadpoolexecutor. Each of these tasks will keep on running at different periodic intervals. Although all such tasks will not be running at the same time because each is set at different intervals, there may be a situation where a high number of threads are competing for execution. Is there any restriction on total number of threads ? It seems there is a restriction on the total number of idle threads. And does this concept of idle thread imply that long running tasks (thread) may be destroyed and recreated when needed ?

  The using keyword has three disparate meanings: type/namespace aliasing namespace import syntactic sugar for ensuring Dispose is called The documentation calls the first two definitions directives (which I'm guessing means they are preprocessing in nature), while the last is a statement. Regardless of the fact that they are distinguished by their syntaxes, why would the language developers complicate the semantics of the keyword by attaching three different meanings to it? For example, (disclaimer: off the top of my head, there may certainly be better examples) why not add keywords like alias and import? Technical, theoretical, or historical reasons? • Is a live internet connection required for push notification?

  This maybe a silly question, but I need confirmation and I have no one else to ask. I am trying to understand the implications of implementing my own push notification for android mobile devices. This requires a continuous TCP connection to a server, though most of the time it will be idle. My assumption is that, even when idle, for the server to be able to push data to the client through the TCP connection, an active internet connection will always be required, and if the connection is disrupted (i.e. the user switches the connection off) this push will no longer be possible. Is this assumption correct ?

  I have a Flex component with a form and on creationComplete, I load some data onto the form textInputs. After the Form TextInputs have got their values, I want to trigger an event so the Parent of the component can validate the values on the TextInputs and based on the validation results, I perform some enable/disable of other interfaces. I have the following dispatch code: this.dispatchEvent(new PersonalDetailsEvent(PersonalDetailsEvent.LOADED_DATA_EVENT)); The event is dispatched and is captured by the parent. But upon performing the validation, some TextInputs always fail the validation. I thought it could be because of a race condition and so I used callLater() with same results. So in the end I am now using a timer to dispatch the event which is not ideal. Does anyone have a solution to this problem. It is really annoying that a timer needs to be used for this scenario.

• strange bug - how to pause a java program?

  HI, I would like to profile my c++ application on linux. I would like to find out how much time my application spent on CPU processing vs time spent on block by IO/being idle. I know there is a profile tool call valgrind on linux. But it breaks down time spent on each method, and it does not give me an overall picture of how much time spent on CPU processing vs idle? Or is there a way to do that with valgrind. Thank you.

I put a 1.5 second timer between each AT command to allow the modem to simulate the wait for the "OK" from the modem.   I was advised to use OpenPop lib to fetch my mail from hotmail. But I could'nt find any better way to check for new mail except disconnecting and reconnecting again.
