  • PHP - Checking whether a string exists in an entire array?

    - by RC
    Hi all, Basic array question: $string = "The quick brown cat"; $check1 = "apple"; $check2 = "ball"; $check3 = "cat"; if ( (stripos($string, $check1) === false) || (stripos($string, $check2) === false) || (stripos($string, $check3) === false) ) { echo "Fail"; } How do I condense the above using an array ($check[])? Thanks!

  • Regular expression to match non-negative integers in PHP?

    - by kavoir.com
    I seem to get it to work with the following regexp by preg_match(): @^(?:[1-9][0-9]*)|0$@ Yet it's weird that it matches '-0', considering there are no '-' allowed at all in the regexp. Why? What's more weird is that if you switch the parts divided by |: @^0|(?:[1-9][0-9]*)$@ It matches all negative integers such as '-2' and '-10', etc. What am I missing here? Any better regexp for non-negative integer?

  • How do I turn a PDF email attachment to an image (jpg) in a PHP page?

    - by user351630
    Hi guys. Long time viewer, first time question asker. I'm trying to have my personal website parse through my mail box for attachments from a certain subscription list, and then be able to view the PDF attachments as images, preferably jpg. With the help of this: http://www.linuxscope.net/articles/mailAttachmentsPHP.html I'm currently using imap_base64() to decode the MIME data and create the PDF. However, I hate using PDF readers in general and I thought it would be a lot more streamlined if I could just view it as an image instead. I've heard for convert with ImageMagick, but would I need to actually write the PDF to a directory before using this, or can I convert somehow directly from the MIME data in the email? Thanks in advanced!

  • how to compare two tables fields name with another value in mysql?

    - by I Like PHP
    I have two tables table_school school_open_time|school_close_time|school_day 8:00 AM | 9:00PM | Monday 10:00 AM | 7:00PM | Wednesday table_college college_open_time|college_close_time|college_day 10:00 AM | 8:00PM | Monday 10:00 AM | 9:00PM | Tuesday 10:00 AM | 5:00PM | Wednesday Now I want to select school_open_time school_close time, college_open_time and college_close_time according to today (means college_day=school_day=today), and also if there is no row for a specific day in any of one table then it display blank field ( LEFT JOIN , I think I can use). Please suggest me best and optimized query for this. UPDATE: if there is no open time and close time for school then college_open_time and college_close_time has to be returned( not to be filled in database,just return) as school_open_time and school_close_time. and there always must be college_open_time and college_close_time for a given day MORE UPDATE: i m using below query SELECT college_open_time,college_close_time ,school_open_time, school_close_time FROM tbl_college LEFT JOIN tbl_school ON school_owner_id=college_owner_id WHERE college_owner_id='".$_session['user_id']."' AND college_day='".date('l',time())."'"; it return single row (left hand having some value and right hand having blank value) when there is no row of a given day in table_school, BUT display seven rows with same value on left hand side(college_open_time, college_close_time) and 6 blank row on right hand side (school_open_time and school_close_time) i need only one row when both table have a row of a given day but using above query take only first row of corresponding table_school where school_owner_id is 50(let), it not see the condition that school_day name should be given day

  • How to loop through an array return from the Query of Mysql

    - by Jerry
    This might be easy for you guys but i could't get it. I have a php class that query the database and return the query result. I assign the result to an array and wants to use it on my main.php script. I have tried to use echo $var[0] or echo $var[1] but the output are 'array' instead of my value. My php class <?php class teamQuery { function teamQuery(){ } function getAllTeam(){ $connection = mysql_connect(DB_SERVER,DB_USER,DB_PASS); if (!$connection) { die("Database connection failed: " . mysql_error()); } $db_select = mysql_select_db(DB_NAME,$connection); if (!$db_select) { die("Database selection failed: " . mysql_error()); } $teamQuery=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM team", $connection); if (!$teamQuery){ die("database has errors: ".mysql_error()); } $ret = array(); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($teamQuery)){ $ret[]=$row; } mysql_free_result($teamQuery); return $ret; } } ?> My php on the main.php $getTeam=new teamQuery(); $team=$getTeam->getAllTeam(); //echo $team[0] or team[1] output 'array' string! // while($team){ // do something } can't work either // How to loop through the values?? • How to seperate database entries and display them as individual records using PHP?

    - by Clark
    I used to have database entries separated by ampersands (&), but this was causing certain search issues so I decided to encapsulate my entries on both sides by $ and & symbols like: $this& But I am having trouble displaying all the entries of a cell as indiivdual records. Before I used: $unsplitItems = $row['files']; $files = explode("@", $unsplitItems); foreach ($files as $file) { if(strlen($file)) { echo "<li>$file</li>"; } } Any idea how I can split my records and display all the items in the array as individual entries?

  • Can somebody explain the difference between exceptions and errors (specific to PHP)?

    - by letseatfood
    I am having trouble figuring the best way to display errors to my clients. Should I use exceptions or errors? For example, if the user's login information does not match the database, should I throw new Exception('Login information is incorrect. Please try again.') and catch it with an exception handler using set_exception_handler()? Or, should I use trigger_error() to display an error message to the user? I think the main issue is that I cannot differentiate between errors and exceptions. I have read a lot of "answers" to this question on the internet and in some books, but it seems that people are really divided or aren't sure. Thanks!

  • how can I get around no arrays as class constants in php?

    - by user151841
    I have a class with a static method. There is an array to check that a string argument passed is a member of a set. But, with the static method, I can't reference the class property in an uninstantiated class, nor can I have an array as a class constant. I suppose I could hard code the array in the static method, but then if I need to change it, I'd have to remember to change it in two places. I'd like to avoid this.

In this question I asked how to order and limit values, but now I want to show the others in another query. How would I go about doing this? Here's the code I used before: $query = "SELECT gmd FROM account ORDER BY gmd DESC LIMIT 3"; $result = mysql_query($query); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result, MYSQL_ASSOC)) { } Thanks!

  • PHP - get MySQL query results as their native data type?

    - by redidas
    I've tried fetching MySQL query results using mysql_fetch_row() mysql_result() and numeric values are being returned as strings. Is there any way to fetch the data as its datatype stored in the table? The application will be querying many different queries so I will be unable to cast the values as the intended datatype on a 1 by 1 basis.

  • Is it good practise to use meta refresh tags for redirects instead of header() function in php?

    - by Kent
    I have to use redirects a lot in my scripts, for example after a user logs in I need to redirect them to the admin area, etc. But I find it inconvenient to always have to have the header function at the very top. So if I use the meta refresh tags for my redirects, is that something that would be frowned upon according to best practices or is it acceptable? function redirect($location) { echo "<meta http-equiv='refresh' content='0; url=$location' />"; }

  • How to ReHash a password stored into my Database ? (PHP)

  • Creating a PHP web page that enables you to reboot the server in Linux?

    - by Stuart
    I want to create a web page that allows the user to initiate a reboot on the linux server. Obviously this would only be avaliable for system admins and would also be controlled by using iptables. Below is a sample of code that I was thinking of using but I wanted to know if there is another way to do this and how also to use this in a web page? Also is there any thing else that I should consider? $command = "cat $pass | su -c 'shutdown -r now'"; $output = array(); try{ echo shell_exec($command); exec($command, $output); system($command, $output); } catch(Exception $e) { print "Unable to shutdown system...\n"; } foreach ($output as $line) { print "$line<br>"; } Thanks in advance.
