    I'm working on stimulanting projects at my job. I like it. I like programming! I have accumulated several years of experience now. Sometime happens I develop other projects (even more stimulant of my main job). Some more money cannot hurts! The problem is that my free time has decreased a lot, leading me to develop until late evening. I usually program each day (I like to develop my own projects, even if only a few lines at a time). But it is one thing to plan for my pleasure, it is one thing to plan for business. So, my question is how to balance free time with these additional jobs? What experiences do you have? How much you can develop for long time (in a medium interval, say, weeks)? Every thought is welcome!

It seems like I have all the right Boost #includes for the HostContainer to be understood. What else could be going wrong? I would appreciate immediate suggestions, troubleshooting tips, and other advice about my code. My plan is to create a "HostContainer.h" file that includes the typedef and structs that define its tags, similar to what I'm doing in "Event.h" for the EventPQ container. I'm assuming this is legal and good form.

    I'm trying to install the php extension OAuth in my local environment. php.net suggests it's super easy. You just run pecl install oauth.     I generated the .java files using wsdl2java found in axis2-1.5. Now it generated the files in this folder structure: src/net/mycompany/www/services/ The files in the services folder are: SessionIntegrationStub and SessionIntegrationCallbackHandler. I would like to consume the webservice now. I added the net folder to the CLASSPATH environment variable. My java file now imports the webservice using: import net.mycompany.www.services; public class test { public static void main(String[] args) { SessionIntegrationStub stub = new SessionIntegrationStub(); System.out.println(stub.getSessionIntegration("test")); } } Now when I try to compile this using: javac test.java I get: package net.mycompany.www does not exist. Any idea?

  • Elasticsearch Shard stuck in INITIALIZING state

    I stopped one of my elastic search node & as a normal behavior elastic search started relocating my shard on that node to another node. But even after 15 hours it is still stuck in INITIALIZING state. Also that shard is fluctuating between two nodes,for some time it stays on one node then automatically shift to another node & keep on doing that after every few hours. Main issue is it is still in INITIALIZING state after so many hours. I am using version 1.2.1. This shard which is stuck, it is a replica.   • How to detect changes to Address Book after ABPersonViewController presentation

    I have two view controllers that allow changes to the Address Book. The first one lets you add or create an entry based on an ABRedordRef or edit an existing ABRecordRef, by presentation of either ABUnknownPersonViewController or ABPersonViewController. The second one is a standard ABPeoplePickerNavigationController that allows you to view/edit any of the contents of the Address Book. Both views are accessible easily accessible to the use via the main application UITabBarController. How can I determine that changes were made by either view controller, so that I can force data dependency changes to a third separate view controller. I thought that I saw a notification center message that I could subscribe to, but I can't seem to find it again... I don't care if the notification center is the method that should be used, or a delegate protocol or... whatever, I don't care, I just need to know how to detect the change or the need to re-sync with the Address Book. Can someone Please point me in the right direction. Thank you.

    Hello, I want to create an app, whith the following structure: UITabBarController ..UINavigationController ....UITabBarController So, in other words, I want to load first UITabbarController as my main ViewController, that appears on application start, in its' first tab there's a UINavigationController with a table, which shows another UITabBarController by pressing on a table cell. I started Tab Based application, set first tab to UINavigationController, and its ViewController to my TableViewController. I also created second UITabBarController in Interface Builder. Created a separate class for this controller. Everything works fine at start - my first UITabBarController is shown perfectly, but when I'm trying to push my second UITabBarController, using my UINavigationController, it looks like nothing is loaded from a .xib file - there are just an empty TabBar and NavigationBar pushed. Seems, that something is wrong with an architecture, but I can't figure out the problem. Thanks in advance and I'm sorry for my poor English.     Hi, I'm trying to follow Marcus Zarra in his book 'Core Data'. In the book, he makes a small sample application, but it doesn't give much help when things don't work out... He starts out by visually designing three entities, and then adding array controllers for each entity to the main nib. Second, he adds a tableview and some other visual components to show data from the array controllers. So far, I have managed to follow, but now he adds a search field to the gui, and binds it to the same array controller as one of the tableviews. Expected behavior would be for the tableview to get filtered when typing in the search field, but nothing happens. How do I find out what's wrong?   • Covering Earth with Hexagonal Map Tiles

    Many strategy games use hexagonal tiles. One of the main advantages is that the distance between the center of any tile and all its neighboring tiles is the same. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on marrying a hexagonal tile system with the traditional geographic system (longitude/latitude). I think it would be interesting to cover a globe with hexagonal tiles and be able to map a geographic coordinate to a tile. Has anyone seen anything remotely close to this before? UPDATE I'm looking for a way to subdivide the surface of a sphere so that each division has the same surface area. Ideally, the centers of adjacent sub-divisions would be equidistant.

  • VS2010 add-in custom menu item in files of Solution Explorer

    Hey guys, I need to create a custom menu item for Visual Studio 2010 Add-in in C#, but I have had no luck in coming with a solution anytime soon. I am aware that there was a similar post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2486818/visual-studio-add-in-adding-a-context-menu-item-to-solution-explorer But it did not help, as the blog follows the process through the integration package, and the video is done through VB. I had attempted to convert the VB syntax to the C# syntax, but about half way through the video, the Add-in methods has significantly changed from 2005 to 2010, as some of the methods have removed or changed. Is there any good tutorials on making a custom menu item on the Solution Explorer in the lastest Visual Studio in C#, and is there a good website that could be used as a reference for looking over the VS add-in API? I've used Microsoft's main website, however it is confusing and wordy, which is difficult to understand and find the methods, properties, or commands that I am looking for. Any help would be appreicated, Thanks in advance.

  • PerformanceCounters on .NET 4.0 & Windows 7

    I have a program that works fine on VS2008 and Vista, but I'm trying it on Windows 7 and VS2010 / .NET Framework 4.0 and it's not working. Ultimately the problem is that System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories() (and other PerformanceCounterCategory methods) is not working. I'm getting a System.InvalidOperationException with the message "Cannot load Counter Name data because an invalid index '' was read from the registry." I can reproduce this with the very simple program shown below: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { foreach (var pc in System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories()) { Console.WriteLine(pc.CategoryName); } } } I did make sure I'm running the program as an admin. It doesn't matter if I run it with VS/Debugger attached or not. I don't have another machine with Windows 7 or VS2010 to test it on, so I'm not sure which is complicating things here (or both?). It is Windows 7 x64 and I've tried forcing the app to run in both x32 and x64 but get the same results.

    This is my first time creating an iPhone App and I am having difficulty with the memory management because I have never had to deal with it before. I have a UITableViewController and it all works fine until I try to scroll down in the simulator. It crashes saying that it cannot allocate that much memory. I have tried adding autorelease, release, and other stuff like that but that just causes the entire app to crash before even launching.   • Using Ribbon as tab control

    I would like to create application with ribbon interface that looks and behaves like this: application have one main form with ribbon ribbon has multiple tabs when user switches tab on ribbon, panel below ribbon changes and displays content related to ribbon panel. That way, ribbon tab acts as if it is tab over whole window. For example, ribbon have two tabs: people and tasks. When current ribbon panel is "people", below ribbon is displayed grid with people data. Ribbon contains command for manipulating people data. When user switches to "tasks" tab on ribbon, application should display form with tasks below ribbon. Question is can ribbon be used in this scenario? I read "OFFICE FLUENT™ USER INTERFACE DESIGN GUIDELINES" that describe what you can and cannot do with ribbon, but I could not find anything about this.

  • OAuth gives me 401 error

    I am trying to get the access key but I cannot make it work. `request_token.get_access_token is giving me 401 Unauthorized (OAuth::Unauthorized) error. I copy the authorize_url into my browser, allow the application, I receive some kind of PIN from twitter but after hitting enter in my script I always get 401 error.     Hello, I hope that I have come to the right post for a beginner’s question abut Android programming. If not, please feel free to direct me to a better forum. I created a hello world application, and the system generated most of the Android language below. When running the app without the system.out statement, there is no “hello” in the emulator. Then, using the Eclipse tutorial, I read that I can add the system.out.println statement to main. Again the app runs, but there is no output.   • Embed VLC player in GWT

    Hello, I want to embed a VLC player in my webapp build with Google's GWT. First I had a look at this page: http://wiki.videolan.org/GWT, which offers a nice solution but I add to implements all javascript functions calls (play, stop, fullscreen) with JSNI. Then I found gwt-player (hosted by Google code) which does all the job for me but the annoying part is that the project is not widely used (few posts each month on the project's group, not so many talks about it in blogs/forums...) Do you know another option to easly embed & control a VLC player in a GWT app ? My main goal is to play any video/audio file in a webapp and offer the user a fast/forward feature (set rate in VLC), is there any other player I could use ? I already had a look at Quicktime, Windows Media player & Flowplayer, none of them offers as much features as VLC. Thanks in advance & have a nice new year's eve. Chris

  • Ruby on Rails simple_navigation Gem

    I'm using the simple_navigation gem with RoR 2.3.5 It all seems to work correctly, I followed the info in the RDoc (seen here http://rdoc.info/projects/mexpolk/simple_navigation) However, when I actually render out the simple_navigation menu on my main application.html.erb file it escapes all of the html in it (multiple escapes actually). I end up with junk like this which in a browser ends up with all kinds of disjointed text and ["\ things everywhere. <ul class="simple_navigation" depth="0" id="simple_navigation_default"> ["<li class=\"menu\" drop_down=\"true\" id=\"simple_navigation_default_menus_home\"><a href=\"/home\">Wellcome</a><ul depth=\"1\" id=\"simple_navigation_default_menus_home_menus\"> [\"<li class=\\\"menu\\\" drop_down=\\\"false\\\" id=\\\"simple_navigation_default_menus_home_menus_settings\\\"><a href=\\\"/home/settings\\\">Appliction Settings</a></li>\"] </ul> </li>"] What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to tell Ruby on rails to NOT escape html?
