Moreover, while I have some customization for bash and vim, I have nothing for R. For example, one thing I always wanted is different colors for input and output text in a window terminal, and maybe even syntax highlighting.

    Im writing a bash-script to perform an offsite backup, using rsync over SSH. I'm able to send STDOUT to logger, for logs via rsync --del -az -e 'ssh -i mycrt.crt' /home/gnutt/backup/ me@offisite:backup | logger -i But I want to send STDERR instead, so if there is a problem, such as that offsite is unavailable, that output should be sent to logger and logged.

    If I want to produce a Base64-encoded output, how would I do that in .NET? I know that since .NET 2.0, there is the ICryptoTransform interface, and the ToBase64Transform() and FromBase64Transform() implementations of that interface. But those classes are embedded into the System.Security namespace, and require the use of a TransformBlock, TransformFinalBlock, and so on. Is there an easier way to base64 encode a stream of data in .NET?

    Using the OpenSSL libraries one can create a CSR (certificate signing request) by doing this: openssl genrsa -out rsa.key 1024 openssl req -new -key rsa.key -out output.csr -config config.txt where config.txt contains the distinguished name to use in the certificate. I would like to do something similar under Windows using C#. However, the method createPKCS10 does not require you to supply an RSA key. Is there a way to get C# to generate an explicit RSA private key and then use that private key to create the CSR?

  • Parallel For Loop - Problems when adding to a List

    I am having some issues involving Parallel for loops and adding to a List. The problem is, the same code may generate different output at different times. I have set up some test code below. In this code, I create a List of 10,000 int values. 1/10th of the values will be 0, 1/10th of the values will be 1, all the way up to 1/10th of the values being 9. After setting up this List, I setup a Parallel for loop that iterates through the list. If the current number is 0, I add a value to a new List. After the Parallel for loop completes, I output the size of the list. The size should always be 1,000. Most of the time, the correct answer is given. However, I have seen 3 possible incorrect outcomes occur: The size of the list is less than 1,000 An IndexOutOfRangeException occurs @ doubleList.Add(0.0); An ArgumentException occurs @ doubleList.Add(0.0); The message for the ArgumentException given was: Destination array was not long enough. Check destIndex and length, and the array's lower bounds. What could be causing the errors? Is this a .Net bug? Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening? Please try the code for yourself. If you do not get an error, try it a few times.     I am using ASSERTE macro to check for pre-conditions. According to its definition it is using ASSERT_BASE, which in turn calls _CrtDbgReportW to print out the message. Where does _CrtDbgReportW output goes to? I would assume that if the application is started from debugger, it would go to debugger window. Where would the messages go if it is not under debugger?

What are some strategies for implement this feature? FYI, The platform I am using is rather bare-bone in its GUI/front-end execution.
