• UISearchbar issue

  I am trying to add a UISearchbar to table header view. I have the icon in nib and have connected the outlets. Now in viewDidLoad, I am writing self.tableView.tableHeaderView = searchbar If i create a local var inside viewDidLoad, it shows up. But not the outlet or ivar one. But for some reason, the UISearchbar does not get displayed in the table. I am not sure what the issue is. Can a UISearchbar not be set in viewDidLoad OR is it something else? Please help.

  Just as the question asks. I have an Esri map control and want to add a Rastor image to the control in WPF and don't know how to do it. I see that I can add layers to the Map control, but is there a way to add a Raster image to a map control? The documentation is using SecTrustSettingsSetTrustSettings for changing the settings and reevaluate the trust. but I couldn't find this method (or the SecTrustSetting) for iOS, only for Mac. Thanks

• initWithCoder breaking my touch events (touchBegan, touchMoved, etc)

  So I have a UIView that has been setup, and in each touch event handler I have an NSLog fire off a message to the console. - (void) touchesBegan:(NSSSet*)touches withEvent:(UIEvent*)event { NSLog(@"touchesBegan"); } And that pretty much works as expected. But once I implement initWithCoder (even blank) - (id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder*)coder { return self; } I no longer receive the message to my console (or can hit breakpoints obviously). This is my first app so I'm probably missing something dumb, but I've looked through various example apps and I don't appear to be missing any code that would re-enable touch events.

Which needs to execute before doSomethingWidthCode. It's also being loaded from the server on the same domain hence its trusted.

• iPhone - a question about @property

  Hi, I am kind of newbie on Objective-C and I was looking at a code, trying to understand a few things, and I come across with this .h file: there was a declaration like that on the @interface section MyVideoClass *contrast_; then below we have @property (nonatomic, retain) MyVideoClass *contrast; @property (nonatomic, retain) FetchClass *fetchMe; The strange part is that the first has an underscrore after the name and the second one, doesn't. The other strange thing is that the guy has a call to these properties like this: FetchClass *fetchOne = [self.fetchMe contrast]; What kind of call is that? This seems pretty insane to me. I simply cannot understand what is going on here, but the code works. pretty insane. Can you guys explain me that? Forgive the stupid question, but I am still learning... thanks

• Setting Corner Radius on UIImageView not working

  I'm at a bit of a loss. I've used the layer property of UIView to round the corners of multiple elements in my app. However, this one UIImageView is simply not complying. Not sure what I am missing. The UIImageView (called previewImage) is contained in a Table View Cell.   I need to define a data structure recursively in Javascript. List is an example function that returns a function (It is not an Javascript list that I can append to).   Hi I have a table view, and when I delete a cell I am removing an item from an NSMutableArray, archiving that array, and removing the cell. However, when I do this, it is causing the delete button to lag after I click it.   I'm looking for a good jQuery or CSS, or combo, library to enance my left side menu in an an intranet application. I don't like the 'hover only' expand/collapse style of the ASP.NET Menu control on its own, and I don't like the 'icon-click only' expand/collapse style of the TreeView control on its own. I plan on trying the CSS Control Adapters, to render the menu with some self-respect, i.e. as nested <ul> or <ol> elements instead of the usual orgy of tables. Beyond that, I need something to give a bit of style and menulike behaviour to these nested lists, and I would prefer a jQuery plugin for this. Which should I use?

  I know there is no concept of abstract class in ruby. But if at all it needs to be implemented, how to go about it? I tried something like... class A def self.new raise 'Doh! You are trying to instantiate an abstract class!' end end class B < A ... ... end But when I try to instantiate B, it is internally going to call A.new which is going to raise the exception. Also, modules cannot be instantiated but they cannot be inherited too. making the new method private will also not work. Any pointers?

• What is a good way to quantify C++ knowledge and skill?

  I have only recently started to study (with the hopes of mastering) C++, one because i have started to love it and two because it's a good career/profession move. At the same time i wish to quantify my knowledge and skill so as to set my self apart from those who just throw C/C++ on their resumes and fish. Is there an open, industry and community recognized way of quantifying ones knowledge and skill in C++? I have looked at Brainbench, MS C++ certificates, and other online certification sites which offer to rate you at $50-$200 per test however there doesn't seem to be a standard on how to rate knowledge and skill. It's one thing for MS or Oracle/Sun to have certifications for their products but C++ is a standard, shouldn't there be a standard way or rating one's knowledge and skill there in? Thanks.
